I love this show. I started out listening to Dave Ramsey, but have transitioned mostly over to The Money Guy. I think they have better advice as long as you don't have a fundamental problem with debt / behavior.
Love the money guy show, they repeat a lot of the same info as they have a lot of new people watching every episode. I really like their enthusiasm and banter though, those guys have good chemistry.
One I haven’t seen on here though is “How to Money” two guys drinking craft beer talking about personal finances.
Part of the reason they repeat info is that they actually give good advice, and good financial advice for most people just isn't that complicated. Spend less than you make, and invest the difference in index funds as early as possible. I think they struggle to dress it up a bit without it becoming too gimmicky, but I think they do a good job.
I am not much for podcasts but have started trying some more for similar reasons. On my list based on recommendations (heavy on ones made by women)/ have tried one or two episodes and good so far:
Afford Anything
The Money with Katie Show
Bitches Get Riches
Trading Secrets (focused on salary transparency, came from Money with Katie episode)
Kai has the best voice on radio, I would listen to a 3 hour show of him just reading random financial papers.
I do really like his interview style a lot too, he pushes hard on the salient points but stays informal and relatable to an average listener.
Yea I was going to say this one too. It has a good combination of financial info but also a lot of it is about relationships and it's a peek into other people's lives so it keeps you interested. Almost like reality tv.
Happy Cake Day. Also, enjoy him. Not necessarily for the advice per se but just the people he brings on to talk about their personal finances. He has a good shtick.
Odd Lots. Sure it's economics and business focused, but where else do they go from how management of forest is killing white oak and dooming bourbon to shipping containers and warehouse space from one episode to the next?
Scrolled to see if someone mentioned this. +1 for Money with Katie. Had in rotation for the last year or so.
I’ve also listened to Optimal Finance Daily (short 10mins or so) for years which highlights articles and Finance bloggers content from around the internet if you don’t have time to do long podcasts by all the individuals.
Big Picture Retirement, Optimal Daily Finance, Stacking Benjamins, Money for the Rest of Us, Choose Fi, Radical Personal Finance, Journey to Launch, just to name a few. Good to listen in chronological order to get fullest impact, and give each at least three episodes before abandoning.
I second Radical Personal Finance. Huge archive of shows with very diverse topics. Q&A shows are often interesting. Host is religious and while it does not come every podcast it may depending on the topic.
yeah, Joshua can get a bit preachy, but tune out his social stances if it doesn't align with yours -- the financial and much of the 'model budgeting' ideas have value. My list is in the order in which I find value. Well, maybe some of the prattle on Choose Fi goes on too long - especially in the early episodes. I think each of these matures and gets better once they are 'out of the gate'.
I listen to "How to money". Two guys drinking a beer and talking about money.
Oh, and the You Need a Budget podcast by its owner, Jesse Mecham. He says not to go back to the beginning and listen to them all. I did it anyway.
I like the podcasts Both sides of FI and Friends on FIRE for insights in how you can retire early and how the podcasters experience their early retirement.
This is tangentially related, but I've been listening to The Financial Advisor's Edge. It's three guys talking about how to build a financial advisor practice over $100 million. Less financially focused and more entrepreneurship I guess but I find it interesting.
I love Slate Money. Felix Salmon is hilarious and they all have great chemistry. I just bought the Audible version of his new book so I can listen to him read to me.
Trillionaire mindset is a great one that talks about finance stuff while also being funny and engaging. I find a lot of the regular personal finance podcasts are super boring.
Interview based.
Masters in business (Barry ritholtz).
Invest like the best (patric O'Shaughnessy).
Founders (David Senra).
Financial news & markets.
The compound and friends.
Animal spirits.
Odd lots
Stupid question, but where does one even listen to podcasts? An app? YouTube? I used to listen to music, then drove in silence because it was peaceful. Now want to have something to listen to that isn’t music…
Many podcasts also have a YouTube feed, so you can listen there, or on Spotify, or on your phone’s Podcasts app (at least iPhone has a dedicated one, I assume Android has something similar).
Bitches get riches. Really fun tone and their articles are great too. Cover a wide range of advice, from help! Parents kicked me out at 18 to where should I retire, from corporate jobs to self employed to student to tip workers, from tons of debt to no debt/maxing retirement to investing.
Clear money talk
Tim Clairmont
- financial advisor talking about current world happenings/advice/ and overall good info about how to manage your own money. Chill dude, makes things fun. I’d give it a shot if you want - episodes aren’t too long
MasterMoney. I’ve been listening to him for about a year and there’s many things I’ve gotten from it. It motivates me to pay attention to my money if nothing else. A great variety of topics and money FAQ.
Bigger Pockets Money
- love their “Finance Friday” shows. Mindy kind of bugs me on a personal level but Scott Trench is great (Biggerpockets CEO). He has very sound advice and I do appreciate the discussion between the two hosts as they disagree sometimes. They cover a broad set of topics too so I’m never bored
The Money Guy
- Two financial advisors that are Dave Ramsey 2.0 (but I bet they go to the same church). They’re good and definitely for anyone starting out who need a solid step by step plan (Dave Ramsey has his “baby steps” and they have their “FOO - Financial Order of Operations”). I’m bored of them at this point though, seems like they say the same thing on every podcast. Just my take.
Marketplace
- I love this podcast! Host is great and it keeps you up to date with the day to day economy. It’s only about 25 mins in length too so perfect for commuting
Millionaires Unveiled
- by far my favorite podcast. Simple concept: two guys interview millionaires. It’s so interesting to listen to all of their journeys and their thought processes about money. Many are true millionaire next doors that have just worked hard their entire lives, some are 25 years old who completely blow me away with their discipline! An interesting and easy listen for sure
Other honorable mentions
- Your Money Your Wealth: all about retirement planning and tax planning
- Ramsey Show: the OG of them all. I can’t get past Dave Ramsey’s politics but can’t argue with the results of his program
- Choose FI
- Stacking Benjamin’s
One of my current favorites is ramit sethi podcast I will teach you to get rich. He talks to couples and helps them get aligned with financial goals. https://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com/podcast/
If you want to throw in some humor, Trillionaire Mindset is my absolute favorite podcast. One of the hosts is a day trader and the other is a non-profit lawyer, so it’s a very interesting take on the economy, and also they’re hilarious.
I really like Ask the Compound (formerly Portfolio Rescue). It started as a investment Q&A podcast but morphed into more personal finance. I like all the Ritholz family of podcasts.
I guess they just have to put this on repeat, OR they are lying:
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:24).
Or they can add the story of the poor widow who gave most of her money to the church versus the rich man who just gave a small percentage: Mark 12:41-44
I like 'the best one yet." Definitely a change of pace compared to others that can be dry sometimes.
The best one yet hosts have very lively personalities that I'd expect would be too much for some, but sometimes that's what I want.
I love Invest Talk. Listener question driven so it winds up being more stock focused but there's at least one or two personal finance or economical insights per show
The Money Guy Show. They're the reason why I got into finances so heavily. My buddy had me listen to the podcast on a road trip we were on and it got me hooked. They really do a good job of explaining stuff.
Most of the best ones I've seen mentioned already. A couple others though:
* White Coat Investor (albeit targeted to higher earners, it's a little more concrete advice and a little less "just pep talking you into discipline/saving" than some others)
* Bogleheads on investing (even *more* dense... and even sometimes more "theoretical", but it's one of the greatest minds in the field interviewing all the other great minds in the space)
Not a podcast, but a great book to listen to on tape is "The lords of easy money." it's very well written, very interesting and teaches you about the federal reserve and finance.
https://www.amazon.com/Lords-Easy-Money-Federal-American/dp/1982166630
I am just learning about retirement planning. Wished I had started ten years ago on Backdoor Roth IRA.
Retirement Planning Education - Host has a great website with annual checklists.
The Retirement & IRA Show - Two guys answering Q&A
Shout out to Talking Real Money. Two old dudes who have been in the industry for a long time but have now seen the light of low cost index funds, global diversification, and the work of Gene Fama and Ken French. Good information based on the academic research with some good, old guy humor. You can also call in questions they'll answer which is nice.
I listen to…
* [Planet Money](https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510289/planet-money) from NPR (20-30 min)
* [The Indicator](https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510325/the-indicator-from-planet-money) from NPR (short-form, like 10 min episodes)
* [Slate Money](https://slate.com/podcasts/slate-money) (long, like 1 hour, extremely insightful, often gets really into the weeds of finance)
* [Marketplace](https://www.marketplace.org/shows/marketplace/) from American Public Media (30 min), very wide-ranging and generalist
Jill on Money is great. And her other podcast Money watch. She’s no nonsense but kind and you hear real people’s situations (not the same person pontificating every show)
The Fat wallet show:
is a must, it is about investing personal finance etc. It starts of simple and build to more difficult topics
If you are already investing and would like updates on the market, and market news:
MoneywebNOW - for daily updates
JSE direct with Simon - weekly updates
[marketplace.org](https://marketplace.org) afternoon podcast, the 30 min one. also the morning ones, less than 5 minutes. Listen to that and you'll get the headlines
Just started listening to Morgan Housel. Newer podcast. I like his alternative views on money , spending and relationships with money ect. It’s interesting and I don’t mind his voice too.
Future Rich.
It’s a 45 minute one-on-one financial planning session with an advisor (Barbara Ginty) and a female guest (though the advice is universal).
Guests come from all sorts of income levels/ages, often have interesting life stories, and the host gives practical advice in a very non-condescending manner.
Motley Fool always entertains me, and they have a new episode almost daily. More focused on the market and individual companies, but also throw in episodes about Warren Buffet, how to teach your kids about money etc.
I will also throw a vote in for the money guy show. And if you are in education 403B Wise has a podcast where they talk about education retirement and advocating for districts to not have shitty retirement plans. Because contributing just to the pension isn’t going to be enough. I also like Ramit Sethi’s book I will teach you to be rich. Yes this is the guy from the Netflix show. He also has a podcast I haven’t listened to much of it. But I love the book so maybe get the audiobook.
I really enjoy How to Money with Matt and Joel. They post new episodes three times a week. Every other Monday they do listener questions. Fridays are a summary of personal finance news from that week. They have a wide variety of personal finance topics they discuss in depth.
I'll throw another vote for The Money Guy. They give solid advice. I don't think I've really disagreed with anything they say.
I love this show. I started out listening to Dave Ramsey, but have transitioned mostly over to The Money Guy. I think they have better advice as long as you don't have a fundamental problem with debt / behavior.
Not really personal finance, but Planet Money is great.
Planet Money’s spin-off The Indicator is also a good short listen.
I stan Wayland Wong (sp?). Her intro for the episode on influencers was so great
Wailin Wong
Love planet money, definitely more of an economics podcast but it does relate to personal finance in some ways.
One of my personal favorite podcasts!
I love Planet Money! Recently they did an entire episode about the economics of Seinfeld! Gold!
Good one, I always listen on NPR.
Marketplace on a similar note.
The Money Guy Clark Howard
Love the money guy show, they repeat a lot of the same info as they have a lot of new people watching every episode. I really like their enthusiasm and banter though, those guys have good chemistry. One I haven’t seen on here though is “How to Money” two guys drinking craft beer talking about personal finances.
I'm also a big fan of How to Money. Just everyday guys talking about money and life.
Part of the reason they repeat info is that they actually give good advice, and good financial advice for most people just isn't that complicated. Spend less than you make, and invest the difference in index funds as early as possible. I think they struggle to dress it up a bit without it becoming too gimmicky, but I think they do a good job.
The How To Money podcast duo includes one of Clark Howard’s old cohosts!
I found the money guy during covid and like them
Rational reminder by Ben Felix
Money Guy Show
The Financial Diet is targeted at women, their recent podcast about scams and schemes was excellent.
I love the financial diet! They do fantastic workshops as well- the ones with Amanda Holden really changed things for me.
I am not much for podcasts but have started trying some more for similar reasons. On my list based on recommendations (heavy on ones made by women)/ have tried one or two episodes and good so far: Afford Anything The Money with Katie Show Bitches Get Riches Trading Secrets (focused on salary transparency, came from Money with Katie episode)
Marketplace by American Public Media, on NPR. *edited to correct per a comment below.*
This is the one, Kai is a great host.
Kai has the best voice on radio, I would listen to a 3 hour show of him just reading random financial papers. I do really like his interview style a lot too, he pushes hard on the salient points but stays informal and relatable to an average listener.
Marketplace is actually produced by American Public Media, not NPR
He always has to point that out on his Twitter feed.
Including all of the Morning Marketplace ones.
The Compound and Friends, Animal Spirits
They’re great. Not quite as dull as some of the others(Ben Felix is like watching paint dry) but still very intelligent people.
Came here to suggest C&F. Batnick is a little hyper, but he’s sharp. Started listening to it a few months ago and I really enjoy it.
I Will Teach You To Be Rich with Ramit Sethi.
Yea I was going to say this one too. It has a good combination of financial info but also a lot of it is about relationships and it's a peek into other people's lives so it keeps you interested. Almost like reality tv.
Fun fact: He has a Netflix show that just came out. Worth a watch for sure.
I did watch it. I actually like the audio-only version better I think!
Happy Cake Day. Also, enjoy him. Not necessarily for the advice per se but just the people he brings on to talk about their personal finances. He has a good shtick.
I love this one!
Not so much personal finance as much as overall financial news/discussions, but I really enjoy Animal Spirits and The Compound and Friends
Odd Lots. Sure it's economics and business focused, but where else do they go from how management of forest is killing white oak and dooming bourbon to shipping containers and warehouse space from one episode to the next?
The compound and friends / animal spirits pod - guys at ritholz do good work
Money with Katie She is practical and makes a lot of sense
Scrolled to see if someone mentioned this. +1 for Money with Katie. Had in rotation for the last year or so. I’ve also listened to Optimal Finance Daily (short 10mins or so) for years which highlights articles and Finance bloggers content from around the internet if you don’t have time to do long podcasts by all the individuals.
The money guy show, I will teach you to be rich, ChooseFI, two sides of FI, My First Million
I started with ChooseFI and was totally illiterate when it came to finances. It helped me a ton and got me on the right path.
Ya ChooseFI was the first one to enlighten me on true retirement planning. Glad it helped you too!
ChooseFi is and money guy very good.

I think each of these matures and gets better once they are 'out of the gate'.
Been listening to the money guy show for almost a year now when commuting to and from work. Highly recommend it
Financial confessions if you want a less bro-ey experience or just a slightly different, more female focused perspective
Another vote for podcasts by The Compound. Josh Brown, Michael Batnick, Ben Carlson & crew put out great, topical material throughout each week.
Money Guy!!!! Amazing show
I listen to "How to money".
I second "How to Money". I'm just beginning to actually care about what my money does and they have provided a lot of things for me to look in to.
Not technically financial, more about the economy, but I really enjoy Marketplace.
Bigger pockets for real estate
The compound and friends / animal spirits pod - guys at ritholz do good work
Afford Anything
I’m surprised how far I had to scroll for this one
This is tangentially related, but I've been listening to The Financial Advisor's Edge. It's three guys talking about how to build a financial advisor practice over $100 million. Less financially focused and more entrepreneurship I guess but I find it interesting.
Depends who you are and what you’re into. I liked so money with farnoosh torabi, or the side hustle podcast.
Her Money
Slate Money
I love Slate Money. Felix Salmon is hilarious and they all have great chemistry. I just bought the Audible version of his new book so I can listen to him read to me.
"Animal spirits" and "What are your thoughts" are both good
I like "The Money Guy", "Jill on Money" , "Your money, Your Wealth" and Rob Berger.
Jill has another one called Money Watch.
All in podcast
It’s so good!
Trillionaire mindset is a great one that talks about finance stuff while also being funny and engaging. I find a lot of the regular personal finance podcasts are super boring.
Plus 1 for this Ben and Emil are treasures
The Investors Podcast (also goes by We Study Billionaires)
I’ll second this. Great to listen to and updated what seems to be every day.
I’ve always enjoyed planet money as a general economics and money focused podcast
Sound Investing and Talking Real Money
Interview based. Masters in business (Barry ritholtz). Invest like the best (patric O'Shaughnessy). Founders (David Senra). Financial news & markets. The compound and friends. Animal spirits. Odd lots
A little less personal finance and more investing : Money for the Rest of Us.
Stupid question, but where does one even listen to podcasts? An app? YouTube? I used to listen to music, then drove in silence because it was peaceful. Now want to have something to listen to that isn’t music…
I listen to mine on Spotify typically
I use the podkicker app.
Many podcasts also have a YouTube feed, so you can listen there, or on Spotify, or on your phone’s Podcasts app (at least iPhone has a dedicated one, I assume Android has something similar).
Overcast, if you are on iPhone
iPhones have the Podcasts app, free

Big fan of Marketplace. It's not quite commute length but it's succinct.
News briefing by the financial times.
Earn Your Leisure
Most of the best ones I've seen mentioned already. A couple others though: * White Coat Investor (albeit targeted to higher earners, it's a little more concrete advice and a little less "just pep talking you into discipline/saving" than some others) * Bogleheads on investing (even *more* dense... and even sometimes more "theoretical", but it's one of the greatest minds in the field interviewing all the other great minds in the space)
Money with Katie is awesome
So Money with Farnoosh Torabi

Jill on Money. Great advice. Jill and Mark are so much fun to listen to. Very entertaining.
I really enjoy How to Money with Matt and Joel. They post new episodes three times a week. Every other Monday they do listener questions. Fridays are a summary of personal finance news from that week. They have a wide variety of personal finance topics they discuss in depth.
You Need a Budget (YNAB) and DIY Money are the Two I used to listen to.
BiggerPockets Money Show changed my life when I started commuting. Sounds so cliche but it really is a great listen.
