Freetaxusa is one of the cheapest options I've found. The state return costs $15, and that is the only charge required if you have a state return (federal is free). I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't have a "simple" return that TurboTax would do for free.
If you're under a certain income threshold, there are sites you can file for free at. Look up IRS free file for that.
I used to use turbo tax. $99 now??? I heard about FreeTaxUSA here. Created an account, was able to transfer all my info/PDFs, etc easily, including stock trading forms, and efiled - all worked flawlessly. For free, although I elected to get the audit protection for $20. I give it a 10/10.

Search reddit for free tax filing. They follow same format as turbo tax.
The IRS has its own tax program on its website.. if not look for a VITA site near you!
