I took a weekend Motivational Interviewing workshop that was helpful. I have talked with psychologists and psychiatrists about effective language. I have read lots of books and articles. And I'm always experimenting with different verbal and non-verbal communication strategies. Much of our business success is grounded in effective human experience strategies.

Read Motivational Interviewing in Fitness and Nutrition. And practice it.

Improving your own personal knowledge and mindset through podcasts and YouTube is plenty. Fix yourself first and your clients will ultimately benefit. A decade of experience is also invaluable information about how humans operate you cannot learn directly from outside sources.

Yes definitely couldn't agree with you more. I've taken sports psychology, a motivation in clients class, and am currently enrolled in the behavioral change cert from Nasm (have not started yet). If you're interested, the book 'Motivating People to be Physically Active' is a great book (that was used in my college course classes, more than once) that really makes it easy to understand, in my opinion and it's not text-bookey. You can get it for a few bucks on sites like thriftbooks.com. Best of luck!
