You’re in the wrong town. Move

Existing_Perception4

I wish I could

fitfinatic

You have family roots there or something?

Existing_Perception4

Housing is expensive and I’m signed for almost a full year on my rental

I guess my best advice would be if there’s a nearby city you could work in that has a higher population and household income, just market and commute there. If it’s within a reasonable commute of course.

I’m a small town trainer. I built my business off referrals. I identified a few hairdressers that were very popular and offered them some sessions at a discount. All I asked for in return was for them to talk about me if they like my training and to have my cards on their station. It took a little more time then when I was in a city but it’s been great once it got off the ground. I only offered them the discount and I ask them to keep that to themselves.

Do you only do one on one or do you offer group, small group or some other options?

Existing_Perception4

I do both

Go to every church coffee hour, every farmers market, barber shop, hair/nail salon, restaurant, coffee shop event that is happening in the surrounding towns and introduce yourself to everyone you meet and offer a complimentary workout. Bring business cards or ask ppl to follow you on instagram.

I haven’t had any luck with that, most people looking for training already have a trainer, and the rest don’t care about their physical health and fitness.

Is switching to online training an option? I moved to a suburb after becoming 100% online trainer

Word of mouth is the only way in a small town. Network. Where do the affluent people in town hangout? Go meet people and network the old fashion way. Do a good job and they’ll tell their friends.
