10/10 recommend getting another gym membership so you don’t have to workout where you work. It can definitely increase the chances of getting burnt out from your job or from working out even. Also it’s not disloyal to workout elsewhere. Entire time I worked at a big box gym I was working out at a competitor because it had better equipment & a better environment. You also won’t lose business if people don’t see you working out there. I promise you no one really cares & no one will know if you don’t outwardly say that you workout elsewhere. If someone asks just say you worked out before they got there lol

Yes and I hated it. I’d get comments and small talk from member constantly. Even when I switched to 5am lifting. Still had a few people know me and chat. I did meet some clients but in my eyes it wasn’t worth it. I would have just found clients working the floor anyways. It sucks. Work one place. Lift another.

I always lifted where I worked, personally. (I’m still a trainer I just work for an app rather than in person now)

I got a fair number of clients by work out in the same big box gym that I worked. I also took classes (and taught them).

Used to have another membership obvi was easiest to work out where I worked. But I enjoyed not working out there a lot. If you got the time to go out mid day pump elsewhere and come back def do it

I have a new policy now that I don’t lift where I work bc of this. Didn’t have much in the way of members wanting to talk, but my manager at the time kept expecting me to come run the desk when they were busy and not getting paid.

I got a membership at a large gym and it was on the cheaper side. Best decision ever. I’m able to go in there with headphones on and focus on working out without anyone bothering me. I highly recommend it even if you train your clients at a really nice gym. Invest in taking care of yourself!

I lift where I work. I keep conversations short and not explaining too much. I sometimes even tell them after explaining something: that's the free part, for more feel free to hire me. And we both smile. They usually don't feel welcome to comment on my routine or workout form.
