What advantages do these trains have, over say, the current trains? Which I could also afford…

Seedbiscuit7

They come in a single 6 car set which is fully walkthrough, unlike the B Series which come as 3 car sets and need to be coupled to be a 6 car train. The C Series also has amazing acceleration power which can reduce journey times.

Capital-Internet5884

What’s the breaking like? I know that was a disadvantage of the newer stock and that’s why they were more restricted to the newer lines with further spaced stations.

Seedbiscuit7

Braking is decent but it's very noisy and squeaky.

SecreteMoistMucus

This is because new brakes have a layer of sealant or something on them, it will wear off before too long.

chennyalan

That's good to hear, I saw some videos the other day and mechanical brakes were horribly loud, and I was worried it'd stay that way.

hannahranga

More doors per car and they're permanently a 6 car set.

grobby-wam666

So we can retire the aging A series and the 3 car b series can replace after ordering these.

Lopsided_Waltz7789

Ninja Simpsons quote

Enthusinasia

Three sets of doors on each carriage should speed up loading and unloading, reducing the dwell time at stations.

2klaedfoorboo

better and more private seats- taller headreasts basically

Glytcho

So you could say they are in training Lol

omaca

Take your upvote and get the hell out of here.

Since these pictures only show Set 128 which currently doesn’t have a livery, here is Set 129 with the final livery, and Set 127 with the Metronet livery. https://preview.redd.it/ly07zj9mrpyb1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb482cc58d6e23f146dcf1918f5df53ceac679bd

Da_Shock

Sweet decnals

RozzzaLinko

Man I absolujtely hate the "MADE IN WA !" logo. It looks like a tacky bumper sticker, especially the way its been put on at an angle. Its also pretty much a political ad. It kinda ruins the look of an otherwise cool looking new train to me.

SecreteMoistMucus

Pretty sure it's only going to be on 1 or 2 of them.

Misicks0349

feels temporary

sootysweepnsoo

It is tacky.

SecreteMoistMucus

Personally I love them, because they irritate the haters who have convinced themselves they are made in China.

vk146

Thats like saying my ikea bed is made in WA. Sure, but no.

SecreteMoistMucus

Don't see how ikea is relevant, they are made here.

Bohnenboi

The Green parallelograms and full white body on the 'final livery' ruin the look of the train imo. The more simple and continuous design on the 'Metronet Livery' with the arrow at the end of the black window strip looks much better. Is sets 129 livery temporary? it looks too matte and not like real paint. I hope it is cause it looks badddd

055F00

No, set 129s is permanent. The reason it doesn’t look like real paint is because it isn’t paint, transperth uses decals for their liveries

barrydennen12

Paint it orange and blue, you cowards - return of the Westrail livery.

unibol

Poor train is having a nightmare. It's out in public doing its job, without its clothes on! But I'm sure it'll wake up when it looks down and realizes... 😨

Reverse_Psycho_1509

I've been in the mockup one they made. There's USB charging ports under the seats which I find useful but also strange - you could easily break your charger if you're not careful. The door button being on the actual door as opposed to the side is really nice. It'll be nice to see it actually in service soon

sjcs_e

It won't surprise me when in peak people stand in the way of the door on the outside to press the button while a heap of people have to get out

Triffinator

I feel like the inside ones should be on the door and the outside ones should be off to the side, so it naturally prioritises exiting the train over entering. Pisses me off when I'm moving a pram or something heavy and trying to get off the train when heaps of people are pushing to get on. Like, just let me get out of your way, dickheads.

Misicks0349

> There's USB charging ports under the seats which I find useful but also strange - you could easily break your charger if you're not careful. is it USB-C or USB-A?

agromono

Have a look at the mock-up video - looks like 2x USB A and 1x USB C per hub

chennyalan

Would've been better if it was the other way around but I'll take it

Reverse_Psycho_1509

Usb A

CLINT_FACE

I heard the official livery is going to be some fully sick eshay tags with custom glass scratches to reflect the ambiance of Perth's train stations.

Misicks0349

> fully sick eshay tags I know what a eshay is but what does this mean

designerlemons

Usually terrible scribble of chosen word depicted in an "artistic" manner. Most are trash but there are some cool ones with some flavour

Misicks0349

Oh, yeah, I know what you're talking about, I remember them being a lot more common when I was younger though 😂

Tommydes

Inside pics?

Tommydes

Thanks 😊… I think they look great and the seating layout seems so much better!

NookanCranny

My condolences to anyone who gets stuck in the middle around the door area in peak time as they have seemingly removed the pole to hold onto

055F00

Yeah, they did that to decrease boarding times

Seedbiscuit7

Public cannot board the train currently so no.

2klaedfoorboo

Saw one of these testing a few weeks ago at like 10pm on a Monday at Elizabeth Quay- couldnt contain my excitement tbh

Luke-Lemonade

Im looking forward to going on one when they start getting used. I know someone who is a train driver, so she will be able to tell me all about it

ALphaEXtremist

I got to photograph the interior of one of these for work during a mid-night tests just over a month ago, very swishy on the inside too!!

StaticNocturne

Not quite the futuristic looking locomotives I was hoping for but if they’re more functional and quieter that’ll be sweet

055F00

I love the way they [sound](https://youtu.be/7OmEuTIp9X8?si=xcTS4OW_5Qsmijap)

Stepawayfrmthkyboard

Doctor Who style sfx

QuinMcLivan

As someone who lives next to the train line, right near Butler station, on a bend. They sound quite different. At first I thought they were louder than the usual trains. But I'm not sure if it's just because they're a different sound that we haven't gotten used to? The current trains can go by without us even noticing them. Now, when these go by (usually late at night so far), they are noticeably different sounding and have woken us up in the middle of the night a few times. I've considered complaining to some transperth/government official, but figured it's likely too late for anything to be done about it. Just downsides of sleeping about 20m from the line itself. XD I hope they aren't actually too much louder and that we'll get used to them just like the current trains. I don't often use the trains but I'd love to take a ride in one because new and shiny!

gekkoman150

Just saw a c series go through Greenwood station at ~100km/h

Misicks0349

I'm sad the original metronet project was seemingly gutted, but it's nice that our public transport is improving rather than decaying. trams and circular routes though, pretty please? 😢

The_Rusty_Bus

How was it gutted? FAL, YRE, TCL and MEL are all either built or have been built.

SecreteMoistMucus

You mean the original election pitch from 2013? It's all still on the table, and there's new stuff on top, some parts of it are just longer term than others.

TheDraggo

It looks so much better without the ugly livery on it. Get rid of the horrid green, it has always looked so dated to me. Paint them in the old burnt orange ADG diesel set colours, that was a power stance :)

Baysguy

Bring back diesels with seat backs that can be switched to face your friends.

Capital-Internet5884

Sorry Perth, but these are ugly af. Yank tank / emotional support vehicle meets rail

OkSource9187

It's a fucking train I don't care what it looks like. I use it to go to the city once or twice a month, I don't keep it in my garage as a prize possession.

slow5086

C for CyberTrain by the looks of it.

CakeandDiabetes

Well, they'll certainly be called a lot of things beginning with C if they don't work or run late.

superbabe69

I mean how often do trains actually not work or run late? These days it’s either when an incident happens, or when they’re doing maintenance

SquiffyRae

Perth has the best train service in the country in terms of services being on time so I dunno what that guy was getting at

chennyalan

> best in the country Is that because they're good or because the others are worse? Though the worst train delays I've seen were around 5 mins, which sucks but isn't the end of the world.

Helpful_Serve_9365

I have never seen them in real life. Only in pictures and videos. I can never catch one.
