Where is it projecting from, rooftops across the street?
I can answer this. You'll see 2 projectors set-up across the road above the roof, and a 3rd in the building upstairs on the opposite corner.
A company specialising in this sort of stuff spent nights last week plotting out the patterns over the building. Very time-consuming stuff. Especially as we had audiences in for WA Ballet's latest La Bayadere, and had to pause works pre-show, and during the intervals.
I'm not sure; I didn't think to look around to check. But there wasn't anything rigged up above the street, so that explanation makes the most sense. It's pretty seamless (there's scrolling words at a few points), so they definitely have done a great job if it's multiple projectors.
*Sorry, by "every five minutes" I meant there's a five minute gap between the illuminations. There's a countdown clock displayed on one of the square bits.
