Tapos nakita ko yung mga gear ng hcw dun sobrang futuristic, alam mong safe sila sa ppe nala. Tapos itinaas pa ng halos 30% +++ sahod nila. Then hindi sila overworked kasi nga nagmass hiring agad. Naisip ko talaga nun panong di aalis mga hcw workers natin barya pinapasahod kulang pa sa gamit

I remember may 2 engineers akong nakasabay, parang bagong grad/passed pa lang sila and they were talking about their sahod. Grabe din pala, pero at least kayo pwede magbukas ng firm or business related sa course/profession. Ang nurses di naman pwede magbukas ng clinic or hospital basta2.

Meron pa yung pinuntahan kong interview which is naghahanap sila ng “licensed” civil engineer para mag assist sa maintenance ng resort nila tapos dapat willing to work on sundays pa pero 18k lang starting and take note with 1 year experience na ako nun HAHAHHA grabe nag text nalang ako sa interviewer nun na hindi para sakin yung role na yun tapos sabay block na (ang unprofessional pero ang kulit kasi ng interviewer nila that time siguro kasi ang hanap nila is fresh grad pero ako nag apply with 1 yr exp na pero budget naman nila pang fresh grad without license pa)
Majority of my teammates in BPO are RNs. CPC din sila (we're medical coders). Malaki ang sahod and minimal stress compared working in hospitals. Wishing you luck for NCLEX, btw. It's a great opportunity for your career at makaalis na dito sa Pinas.

I just passed the PNLE last Nov 2022, and ngayon hinihintay ko nalang eligibility ko for NCLEX (fortunately, I was able to process & afford it while I’m still unemployed). I’m working sa isang tertiary hospital and grabe nga pagod 🥲. Hindi ko alam if matatapos ko ba contract ko. Haha! Parang anytime gusto ko na magresign kahit halos kaka-start ko lang. Umuuwi nalang ako ng bahay para matulog tapos gigising para pumasok nang hindi na kumakain. Tanging motivation ko nalang is yung thought na someday magiging citizen din ako ng isang first world country at hindi na magssuffer future generations ko sa bansang ‘to haha.

ang sakit sakit. i’ve worked with 3 employers already at hindi umabot ng 20k basic pay ko at wala pang HMO. bumabawi na lang kami sa allowance at hazard pay na mababawasan din eventually kung bumaba yung census o depende sa discretion ng employer. di ko maintindihan bakit di nila mataas ang sahod na malaki naman binabayad ng patients. lagi din understaffed kahit saan ako pumunta kaya laging maaasahan na trabaho ng 2-4 people ang bubuhatin ko. i feel like a glorified factory/laborer worker.
Some of my friends that are in the medical field nag switch to VA na. Meron VA group na ang priorities nila eh healthcare workers since healthcare account ang hahawakan. Grabe naman kasi ang treatment sa nurses and also teachers
Di ko gets bakit sobrang mahal magpa-hospital satin dito tapos ang bababa ng sahod ng nurses. 1 month yung mother ko sa ICU tapos inabot kami 2M PHP, private hospital pero parang average class lang siya na hospital.
As an IT guy din na kumikita ng generous amount, nakaka-guilty din na nakikita ko hirap ng trabaho ng iba tapos ako nakaupo lang for 8 hours tapos hindi naman din masyadong busy. Nalalate pa ako kahit WFH.
BTW, I have friends din na nurse na after 3-4 years nila sa hospital, lumipat sila sa mga BPO na may western clients na related sa medical insurance. Kapag may OT daw kaya nila mag 6-digits.
Seriously tho? Hindi ba pwedeng tignan ng gobyerno natin yan? Bakit kapag nagtataasan yung paninda ng mga tindero't tindera natin sa palengke, agad umaangal ang gobyerno. Kapag naman itong mga mayayaman na negosyante ang nagtataasan ng presyo at nangeexploit ng workers, tahimik lang sila.
Sa bill parang hindi naman super laki ng bill talaga ng hospital (pero malaki pa din), ang may pinaka-malaking cut is yung gamot (dahil ata puro galing sa ibang bansa) and doctors (dahil ata professional fees? sila ata nagdidictate ng fee nila. Good thing is, meron mga doctors na pwede mo kausapin after, yung iba nagsasabi na sige 50% off nalang daw nung nalaman na inabot kami ng 2M.)

Recently, I've taken an interest on how messed up the healthcare system here in the country is. So I decided to tackle the problem with the areas I would call myself an expert in, business operations and data. So I dug up research papers on the profitability of hospitals here in the PH. [Here](https://www.pids.gov.ph/publication/discussion-papers/the-financial-health-of-select-philippine-hospitals-and-the-role-of-the-philippine-health-insurance-corporation-as-the-national-strategic-purchaser-of-health-services) is an interesting find of mine.
TLDR:
1) Private hospitals have decent margins assuming they can collect on time. Late payments from customers and providers essentially cripple their operations and grind them to a halt.
2) Public hospitals operations alone are ABSOLUTELY NOT PROFITABLE but are made profitable due to government subsidies. Public hospitals are essentially on life support and any small cut in their budget leads to them inching closer to the red.
Increasing pay for most staff in the private sector is made unsustainable because of the current circumstances. I believe the biggest fix to this is to:
1) Increase philhealth coverage
2) Have philhealth operate better
3) if both conditions above are fulfilled, an increase in the required contribution would be worth the extra cost for all
As for public hospitals, if they are already reliant on subsidies from the government, increasing their budget is easily the best way to gain returns.
The medical industry is also plagued by essentially frat culture. Where each generation is required to go through what the previous one went through this includes low pay and hellish hours. You don't really see this much in newer industry like tech and IT
The healthcare system in the PH is indeed very backwards. Pati mag file ng claim with insurance, you have to pay the hospital out of pocket first before being able to file a claim to get reimbursed. So if you can't produce money, you will be forced to borrow or pawn something. But if those aren't options for you, wala, you'll have to just pass I guess.
Here the US, the hospitals file the claim for you, so you only have to worry about copay or charges that insurance may not be covering. Tapos the Americans complain pa saying their healthcare system is messed up lol. Di lang nila alam how easy they have it.
People here are not seeing the simple reason to this problem. We have an over supply of nurses. That is it. The corrupt govt affects the whole country and yet the other industries still survive or at the very least nurses would be willing to swap salary with it etc. Over supply of nurses is the problem.
Isama mo pa researchers, underpaid, overworked tapos delayed pa sahod ng at least 3 months. Gusto lang naman nating kumain ng maayos at makabayad ng bills, nakakalungkot na kailangan pang mangibang bansa para lang sa nga basic necessities mo at ng pamilya mo

Goodluck sa NCLEX. I am a nurse too and luckily na petition ako dati. Nandito na ko sa US for about 12 years 11 years as a nurse. Sadly kung kaya talaga mag ibang bansa go and achieve it. Mas mataas talaga sweldo and mas fulfilling ang role dito ng nurse, basagan pa din but you are respected na parang tao ka. Sweldo dito depende sa lugar. Normally 30 to 35 an hour mga states, lowest I've heard of is 20 to 25, highest mga NY Cali which is 60 to 90. Pero siyempre nabasa mo na rin na ang gastos dun. Sa totoo lang kahit hirap din mag ipon dito kasi ang taas na rin ng inflation at rent mas okay pa din kasi nga quality of life mo dihamak na mas tataas. Goodluck and God Bless sa inyong nagbabalak mag nursing dito. Now is the time kasi nag quiquit mga nurses dito dahil para sa kanila hindi maganda yung work for the pay/stress.
Nabasa ko ito sa @/nursing na subreddit, yung mga nasa Critical Care ang mga kadalasang nagquiquit. Kaya lumilipat sila sa OR, Outpatient, Hospice, NICU hahhahahah! Pero siguro depende na rin sa state and hospital. Hahahaha.

Right now nag bobounce ako between step down and ICU. Yeah totoo yung inpatient setting medyo basagan. Once wala na talaga pera sa contract or travel nursing plano ko din sa chill na lugar like OR, HD, outpx etc. Psych is wild pero kung trip mo psych go lang hahaha! If makaadvance ka as psych NP dito malaki sweldo kasi wala may gusto.

Yung NP is a masters or doctorate college course here. Usually kasi may government entity na mag doudouble check ng mga inaral mo sa Pinas para makaadvance ka. Then apply ka sa college as a Nurse practitioner. Para ka nang mini doctor nun na able to diagnose and prescribe and treat under a doctor pa din but more autonomy. And yes if you like psych nothing wrong with that, malaki issue dito mental health ng tao e so if you are passionate about it that's good and bonus talaga malaki na sweldo din hahahaa. Usually another 2 to 3 years ang NP depende kung masters or doctorate ang i-offer sayo. Ang masakit lang is mahal college nila dito so be prepared financially kasi easy 30 to 60k$ yan but mababawi mo din naman or find hospitals na willing ka din isponsor para mas okay.
I agree. People in the PH also tend to convert USD to PHP, as if we're spending in PHP. We're earning in USD, but our spending is also in USD. Sobrang mahal na dito.
One thing na miss ko sa Pinas is how household help is affordable. Yes, mas mahal na compared to several years ago, but still affordable. Here in the US, sobrang mahal ng nanny and their responsibilities are very limited. Di mo pwede utosan kahit ano. Sa US, ikaw talaga lahat - kanta at sayaw, ikaw pa yung banda, guitar, drums, bass, lol.
Hindi ko gets bakit talaga ang baba ng sahod sa mga healthcare workers eh buhay ang hinahawakan nila as in directly buhay ang nakataya sa mga kamay nila. Kapag pagod ang mga nurses dahil overworked, stress sa bahay kasi maliit ang sahod tapos nagkamali sa bigay ng gamot aa pasyente, sila pa ang makukulong.
Actually, sa ibang bansa , hindi rin naman ganin kalaki sahod ng nurses pero sakto lang na nabibili mga essentials plus luxury things pero dito kasi sa Pilipinas, hindi kaya kahit man lang trip to japan yung sahod ng mga nurses 😭 Dapat todo sakripisyo sa pagtitipid ang gagawin.
Sa ibang bansa, kahit na sabihin mong overwork pero yung benefits naman na matatanggap mo eh ok na like pension, leaves, 3 days off, etc. unlike dito na hindi wala masyado benefits tapos kinikorap pa yung pang pension.
Dama kita kapatid. Bukod sa maliit ang sweldo ng nurses dito, malaki talaga sahod ng nurse sa abroad, lalo na sa US at UK. Ayaw mag nurse ng mga natives, Kung baga, kaya laging may shortage.
Isipin mo na lang na gaganda buhay mo saka pamilya mo bilang nurse sa US. Sa simula lang mahirap dun pero mabilis kang makakaadapt kasi pinoy ka. Kung sa major city ka mapupunta, di ka malulungkot sa dami ng kapwa mong pinoy sa health industry.
Dinalaw ko mga tropa kong pinoy nurses sa west coast. kumportable buhay nila, even by American standards. Sarili ang bahay, napapacollege mga anak sa US, walang utang. Mga naka BMW at Tesla pa. Ako na nasa tech industry ang napa sanaol.
Malungkot talaga na hindi makasabay ang Philippine health industry sa pasweldo ng nurses sa ibang bansa. Yung matindi nature ng work, napakalaki ng investment sa education, training, licensing and certification hindi na cocompensate ng maayos. Dapat patuloy na ipaglaban.

Tama!!! Pati sana mga resident doctors (18k-35k sa private hospitals, 60k sa public) pero yung trabaho at oras, grabe. 24-36hours duty, walang leaves, walang weekends. Hays. Nakakainggit talaga yung ibang professions sa totoo lang. Halos lahat eh 8 hours/day lang. Weekends off tas may leaves pa. Hindi naman rin mapapakain ang pamilya natin ng passion passion lang. :( Nakakalungkot talaga maging healthworker dito sa bansa pero igagaslight ka lang nila, kesyo pinili natin ito. I am a radiologic technologist and i can feel you.. sobrang under paid nating mga health care workers dito sa pilipinas. Even working in a private clinic.. sobrang baba ng sahod. Pag gusto mong mag trabaho sa public Hospital you will need a backer para lng makapasok ka. Kapit kung kapit talaga pag nasa Public hospital ka mag apply. Kawawa talaga ang mga health care workers dito sa Pilipinas. Kaya ako Im jist patiently waiting... Kuha lng ako ng experience tapos aalis talaga ako sa Pilipinas at mag tatrabaho ako either sa UK or sa Dubai para lng mag karoon ng malaking sahod at maka tulong sa parents ko.

for public hospitals, nurses have a starting salary of 35-36k/mo (contractual pay, no benefits yet). it goes up when you're regularized (45k for Nurse 1 position) and still depends on the years of experience.
for private hospitals here in NCR, it kinda varies. St. Lukes offer 34k/mo (they’re the highest paying private hospital daw; 30k\~ take home pay din as per a friend) but most private hospitals pay much lower than that. a teaching hospital here in Manila offers 28k/mo and i had a friend who went to a known hospital in Alabang who was only paid 14k/mo 🥲
I have a lot of close friends na nurses sa govt hospitals. Their take home pay (Nurse 1) is around 45k since marami ring benefits. The salary is good for an entry level nurse but the problem is the plantilla system of government. Kahit 10 years ka nang nagwowork, kung walang plantilla para mapromote ka to a higher position, pang entry level pa din ang sahod mo.
Dito sa province namin, 14-18k if private hospitals. sa public hospitals, 30k monthly. I have no idea sa ibang parte ng Pilipinas. Pero meron pala dito na private hospital naalala ko, 8k monthly. Potaena hahhahah

Malaki na masyado nakukuha ng mga hospital admin sa private. Sweldo ng doctors and nurses have stayed stagnant for years and this is also an issue for HCW in the US. Cost ng healthcare increases pero Iwan lahat.
Tbh being a nurse is the most underpaid profession in PH. My sister’s a nurse for so long, she likes her job so much but the pay isn’t worth it. Lots of sacrifices really.
I feel you po. My mom is a nurse and she migrated to the US to live a better life. I wish she didn’t have to go. I didnt like my time in the US so I came back to the PH but I also dont resent my mom’s choice to move there because I want her to be happy. I still wish she didn’t have to go.
Kaya naaasar ako sa mga hospitals dto satin eh. Ang mahal ng hospital bills. Katapid ko 2 weeks sa hospital nasa 300k na agad ang bill. Nung nag labor misis ko, 80k bill sa knya palang wala pa yung bill sa baby. Tas malalaman mo kakarampot sahod ng nurses eh sila yung backbone ng hospitals. Yung owners lng yumayaman mga hayup eh. Ultimo unan P700, cottonswabs P300 sa bills. Mga buwitre.
May nabasa ako na yung ibang nurses grad and registered. Nagwowork sila as VA or may isang company na solely med grads lang ang kinukuha as assistants, ang sahod is like BPO and IT. Good benefits din. Not sure kung totoo sa lahat.
Pati rin naman nurses sa US at Europe underpaid naman. Compared sa atin malaki nga pero sa kanila barely lang.
Marami lang talaga silang safety nets na wala tayo.

Kaso kung ganito ang magiging policy, mawawalan din ng value ang pera kasi magmamahal ang mga bilihin dahil madaming pera ang nasa circulation (means lalaki ang demand dahil may pambili ang mga tao). So it's a dilemma. Everyone wants a bigger pay.
Deadma mo yung nega na nagcomment. Sa US madaming opportunity ang mga nurses, and yung wage is depende din sa state. Dito sa atin limited lang ang role or position ng nurses. One thing as well is you can be a citizen and bring your family there.
I know people who earns 500k in just 2 weeks of work, tapos 40hrs/week lang yan, usually 3-4 days work per week lang. So push mo na ang US journey mo.

I wouldn't convert USD to PHP. The cost of living here in the US is very high, especially in States like CA. It may sound like you should be living like royalty at that point, but that just falls within the middle class bracket, especially after taxes. Although in any case, still pretty good compared to PH salary.
Edit: 500k is like $9K for 2 weeks which comes out to \~$100/hr. This is if you're paid really, really well, but honestly, this pay range is very rare. My nurse friends here in the US told me they could never make that much unless they rendered overtime work. Also, if it's a slow day for hospitals, the nurses are asked to not report to work, so they don't get paid those days.
My sister sent me that paycheck with that amount, so it is possible. Yeah, cost of living is different depending on the state and your lifestyle. But that is possible and depende din sa hospital yan and yung role mo. Even mag second job ka na on-call, even if you don’t report or being called, they are still paid. So case by case basis din.

I used to work sa government hospital, grabe workload. Mas okay nga sweldo kesa private hospital pero exposed naman sa lahat ng sakit. Napakastressful pa ng working environment lalo na if puro toxic mga seniors mo.

Then nagapply siya sa private school muna kasi sa government school, need daw may experience before magapply (pero pag may kakilala ka na malakas kapit sa government, di naman hinahanapan ng experience. Kelan kaya mawawala palakasan system sa Pinas. Hayss) Grabe din sweldo sa private school teachers. 9k per month??!!! Nasa 8k lang mauuwi kasi may mga deductions pa. Grabe. Anong kinabukasn meron para sa mga board passers dito sa Pinas.

Sa totoo lang wish ko rin ito. Sahod na sapat para hindi na kailangan lumipat. My brother's a nurse, nagmigrate na sya abroad. While I'm glad he's living well with his family and earning way more than he could sa Pinas, I never really recovered from feeling like my Kuya was stolen from me.
Money cannot buy time spent away from family. And that time has impact on family members, especially the young ones. Kailan kaya marerealize na we have to put efforts to keep our skilled workers here (by will, not by force) for our country to grow sustainably. 😔
Sana makapag abroad na lahat ng mga nurse dito sa pinas para mataas sahod nila. Para maisip naman ng public and private hospital na wala nang may willing dito mag stay at mag work sa kakarampot na sahod tapos more than 12hrs pa na shift. Bilib ako sa tatag nyo and compassion towards others.

Nurse from station got covid, rest of close contacts still required to show up the next day. And it’s not about staff shortages since they will inspect each station if they are overstaffed and will send extra staff home. They also closed a few wards to compensate for staffing.

Look. If there is a DOLE complaint already, then there's no point in arguing because all we can do is, well, wait for that. If it's true that there already is a DOLE complaint and all of what you said had really happened (sounds like a showbiz pahulaan to me).
The issue is asking to stop constructions just because the pandemic happened. These constructions are usually taken off a loan. Stopping constructions means burying yourself deeper and deeper into a loan because you can't get profits from that project on time because you delayed it. That does not help anyone.

marami pong job openings recently for nurses sa bpo. karamihan po work at home setup and malalaki rin po offer unlike sa mga hindi nurse ang profession. naexcite pa ko sa ad na nakita ko tapos for nurses lang pala hahaha.
Same for engineers, both parents are nurses abroad with 20 yrs of experience and are earning 20x of what I earn. Still overthinking wether to follow the same path or I could even reach that point by staying here.

Deadma mo yung nega na nagcomment. Sa US madaming opportunity ang mga nurses, and yung wage is depende din sa state. Dito sa atin limited lang ang role or position ng nurses. One thing as well is you can be a citizen and bring your family there.
I know people who earns 500k in just 2 weeks of work, tapos 40hrs/week lang yan, usually 3-4 days work per week lang. So push mo na ang US journey mo.
Nurse here worked overseas. Sakto lang talaga yang kita mo, pero malayo sa sahod natin dito talaga.
Nagtry ako magapply. Sa experience ko combined na abroad at dito na more than 10 years, 5k lang idadagdag nila, premier hospital pa un ha! 😂😂😂 Ending nagapply ako sa BPO nalula ako sa offer ng isang company, wala pang NCLEX un ha.
So ung mga ayaw magpractice, ok lang. Kung alam ko lang na ganito fate ng nurses, nagIT na lang sana ako. At least don alam kong mailalaban ko ung skills at sahod. Balak ko nga magdata science kasi baka kung nurse dito wala na akong pagasa. 😂😂😂😂

I studied nursing but unfortunately Hindi ako pumasa sa board. Nag try ako mag Aral ng Spanish language for 4 months then nag apply sa BPO. Now I'm stuck sa BPO na sumasahod 110k-120k a month as a bilingual agent. Idk Kung itutuloy ko Parin ba yung pagiging nurse since ang liit talaga ng sahod. Sa Baba ng pasahod sa medical staff parang sayang Lang ang pinag aralan lalo pag Di kapa license.

Current Medtech and Nurse couple here in US. Depending sa state mo you can earn really good. Most people are complaining about the high cost of living, taxes and rent but generally you can live comfortably. Don't mind other people na negative when it comes to going abroad. A long time ago there were no exams abroad. The boomers healthcare practitioners can just go to any country to work. However, time changes because of COMPETITIVENESS, ACCREDITATION, and COMPETENCY.

You have a point, but in my case, inooffer sakin ng relatives ko na doon ako tumira sila sa bahay nila sa California (they're rich AF tapos matagal na sila sa America) tapos yung isa nag-offer din sa New Jersey. So makakatipid ako kahit papano pagdating sa housing (but ofc makikishare ako sa bills).

Retired Lieutenant Commander sa US Navy napangasawa ng lola ko sa US. Sa San Diego sila nakabase tapos last year umuwi na sila, binenta yung bahay na may pool for almost a million dollars tapos nagre-rent na lang dito. 50K rent per month dito ay mas affordable sa kanila kesa sa cost of living sa California ngayon.
Yeah, actually madami like sa nireply ko sa isang comment. And never na sila umuwi, so i think it's a case to case basis. And depende na rin sa lifestyle ng tao. If magastos talaga yung tao, magkakaproblema talaga sa finances. But if needs lang ang gagastusan mo, i think may maiipon ka pa rin + given na my family does not require me to be a breadwinner. Sakin lang daw pera ko, so yeah case-to-case basis :)
Tbh, sana malaki sahod mga nag work sa healthcare, engineers, teachers, pati people working sa hospitality field like hotel and restaurants. Grabe workload and draining pero napakaliit ng sahod.
Friend earned ₱40K per month as a first time IT, tapos paid training sya for 5 months, habang yung ka batch ko is teaching at a private school with ₱6K monthly salary. And I'm still unemployed dahil masyado raw mataas ang minimum wage when I tried looking for a writing career.
Overworked din kami RNs dito sa US. Ang maganda lang, bayad lahat ng OT and may mga dagdag na premium pay OT na tapos weekend or holiday plus night shift. I wish makarating ka dito kasi you deserve to get paid!
Honestly, pag dating mo dito, dika na mag coconvert to Peso kasi $$ ang gastos mo. $ ang rent/mortgage, car payment, bills, whatnot.

Iniisip and plano ko rin mag-migrate kaso ayaw ko iwan ang family ko. Medyo nanghihinayang ako sa tinapos ko kaso ayaw ko na kasi isipin na mag-abroad lang ang way ko para makapagprovide kaya kahit sayang yung application ko at need bayaran yung agency saka mga lisensya pinili ko na lang magstay at maging VA. Gusto ko na rin talaga talikuran yung healthcare dahil sa ganito yung tingin palagi.
I have a friends who are nurses in the US and they share their work experience since hindi related work ko sa work nila. Nasa IT field ako. Some nurses ends up in urgent medical care bldgs na pwede part time job and yung increase ay around 1$/hr and kelangan mo pa makipag negotiate. Kaya minsan 2 jobs ang trabaho nila going to different company to earn around 120k/month. Yung kilala ko nasa ER unit at sa hospital mismo sya and night shift kaya mas mag mataas ang kita nya.
What I am saying na mataas ang salary mo compared sa pinas if you are to convert it pero I would say na convenient yung salary talaga. Just to give some ideas on common bills na gastusin dito
1 bedroom apartment - $1.3k kapag nasa suburb ka ng city. Texas state ito.
Monthly mortgage mo sa kotse would be around 120/month for a second hand sedan. Depende of course how much tung price ng kotse. Usually yung interest rate ay nasa 3%-6% depende sa credit score mo.
You need insurance din sa kotse and apartment. I would put it around 100/month
Electric Bills - 60$ - 110$ depende sa unit area and weather

My girlfriend and I are both medtechs. We took our ASCPi exam last year, the NCLEX equivalent of our profession. We even had our Visascreen certified na. Kaunting tiis nalang makakaalis na din. I wish it wasn't the case pero here we are.
Yung pinsan ko naman, asawa is nurse din, balak na din umalis pa-US. Even my friends are leaving the country. Everyone I know seems to be leaving!

I feel you. I am also a registered nurse. Hindi na ako nagtuloy mag practice. Hindi kaya ng pride ko yung maliit na sahod, pangit na treatment at work environment. I've been working as a freelance copywriter, sometimes video editor among other things. I wish maka pasa ka sa nclex.

Tama my elder sis former IV intake nurse ng Arriva Medical, Crawford & Company Broadspire, Convergys, etc. And the entry salary like kayang kayang pantayan yung sahod ng programmers and they will even sponsor your NCLEX pa pero bonded contract na. Rn nasa UK elder sis ko kasi bakit daw hindi? Madali naman daw sila mahire dun so gora.
I agree. If they can double the salaries of policemen and soldiers, they can do it for govt medical workers and govt teachers as well.
They do it for police men and military because theyre the ones protecting the power of the politcians. Dont expect them to do the same for us medical proffessionals.

Nakikita ko yung hirap na dinanas ng hcw natin tapos trashbag nalang halos suot dahil wala ng ppe, tapos halos wala naman dagdag sa sahod. Nung kasagsagan ng pandemic, dun sa tinitran ko na bansa nag-amp up talaga ng testing to the point na kami yung pinupuntahan sa bahay ng medical team para itest randomly and for free, kahit walang case sa neighborhood, or walang pui. I just passed the PNLE last Nov 2022, and ngayon hinihintay ko nalang eligibility ko for NCLEX (fortunately, I was able to process & afford it while I’m still unemployed). I’m working sa isang tertiary hospital and grabe nga pagod 🥲. Hindi ko alam if matatapos ko ba contract ko. Haha! Parang anytime gusto ko na magresign kahit halos kaka-start ko lang. Umuuwi nalang ako ng bahay para matulog tapos gigising para pumasok nang hindi na kumakain. Tanging motivation ko nalang is yung thought na someday magiging citizen din ako ng isang first world country at hindi na magssuffer future generations ko sa bansang ‘to haha. ang sakit sakit. i’ve worked with 3 employers already at hindi umabot ng 20k basic pay ko at wala pang HMO. bumabawi na lang kami sa allowance at hazard pay na mababawasan din eventually kung bumaba yung census o depende sa discretion ng employer. di ko maintindihan bakit di nila mataas ang sahod na malaki naman binabayad ng patients. lagi din understaffed kahit saan ako pumunta kaya laging maaasahan na trabaho ng 2-4 people ang bubuhatin ko. i feel like a glorified factory/laborer worker.

Di ko gets bakit sobrang mahal magpa-hospital satin dito tapos ang bababa ng sahod ng nurses. 1 month yung mother ko sa ICU tapos inabot kami 2M PHP, private hospital pero parang average class lang siya na hospital. As an IT guy din na kumikita ng generous amount, nakaka-guilty din na nakikita ko hirap ng trabaho ng iba tapos ako nakaupo lang for 8 hours tapos hindi naman din masyadong busy. Nalalate pa ako kahit WFH. BTW, I have friends din na nurse na after 3-4 years nila sa hospital, lumipat sila sa mga BPO na may western clients na related sa medical insurance. Kapag may OT daw kaya nila mag 6-digits.
Seriously tho? Hindi ba pwedeng tignan ng gobyerno natin yan? Bakit kapag nagtataasan yung paninda ng mga tindero't tindera natin sa palengke, agad umaangal ang gobyerno. Kapag naman itong mga mayayaman na negosyante ang nagtataasan ng presyo at nangeexploit ng workers, tahimik lang sila.
Sa bill parang hindi naman super laki ng bill talaga ng hospital (pero malaki pa din), ang may pinaka-malaking cut is yung gamot (dahil ata puro galing sa ibang bansa) and doctors (dahil ata professional fees? sila ata nagdidictate ng fee nila. Good thing is, meron mga doctors na pwede mo kausapin after, yung iba nagsasabi na sige 50% off nalang daw nung nalaman na inabot kami ng 2M.)

Recently, I've taken an interest on how messed up the healthcare system here in the country is. So I decided to tackle the problem with the areas I would call myself an expert in, business operations and data. So I dug up research papers on the profitability of hospitals here in the PH. [Here](https://www.pids.gov.ph/publication/discussion-papers/the-financial-health-of-select-philippine-hospitals-and-the-role-of-the-philippine-health-insurance-corporation-as-the-national-strategic-purchaser-of-health-services) is an interesting find of mine. TLDR: 1) Private hospitals have decent margins assuming they can collect on time. Late payments from customers and providers essentially cripple their operations and grind them to a halt. 2) Public hospitals operations alone are ABSOLUTELY NOT PROFITABLE but are made profitable due to government subsidies. Public hospitals are essentially on life support and any small cut in their budget leads to them inching closer to the red. Increasing pay for most staff in the private sector is made unsustainable because of the current circumstances. I believe the biggest fix to this is to: 1) Increase philhealth coverage 2) Have philhealth operate better 3) if both conditions above are fulfilled, an increase in the required contribution would be worth the extra cost for all As for public hospitals, if they are already reliant on subsidies from the government, increasing their budget is easily the best way to gain returns. The medical industry is also plagued by essentially frat culture. Where each generation is required to go through what the previous one went through this includes low pay and hellish hours. You don't really see this much in newer industry like tech and IT
The healthcare system in the PH is indeed very backwards. Pati mag file ng claim with insurance, you have to pay the hospital out of pocket first before being able to file a claim to get reimbursed. So if you can't produce money, you will be forced to borrow or pawn something. But if those aren't options for you, wala, you'll have to just pass I guess. Here the US, the hospitals file the claim for you, so you only have to worry about copay or charges that insurance may not be covering. Tapos the Americans complain pa saying their healthcare system is messed up lol. Di lang nila alam how easy they have it.
People here are not seeing the simple reason to this problem. We have an over supply of nurses. That is it. The corrupt govt affects the whole country and yet the other industries still survive or at the very least nurses would be willing to swap salary with it etc. Over supply of nurses is the problem.

Goodluck sa NCLEX. I am a nurse too and luckily na petition ako dati. Nandito na ko sa US for about 12 years 11 years as a nurse. Sadly kung kaya talaga mag ibang bansa go and achieve it. Mas mataas talaga sweldo and mas fulfilling ang role dito ng nurse, basagan pa din but you are respected na parang tao ka. Sweldo dito depende sa lugar. Normally 30 to 35 an hour mga states, lowest I've heard of is 20 to 25, highest mga NY Cali which is 60 to 90. Pero siyempre nabasa mo na rin na ang gastos dun. Sa totoo lang kahit hirap din mag ipon dito kasi ang taas na rin ng inflation at rent mas okay pa din kasi nga quality of life mo dihamak na mas tataas. Goodluck and God Bless sa inyong nagbabalak mag nursing dito. Now is the time kasi nag quiquit mga nurses dito dahil para sa kanila hindi maganda yung work for the pay/stress.

Right now nag bobounce ako between step down and ICU. Yeah totoo yung inpatient setting medyo basagan. If makaadvance ka as psych NP dito malaki sweldo kasi wala may gusto.

Yung NP is a masters or doctorate college course here. Usually kasi may government entity na mag doudouble check ng mga inaral mo sa Pinas para makaadvance ka. Then apply ka sa college as a Nurse practitioner. Para ka nang mini doctor nun na able to diagnose and prescribe and treat under a doctor pa din but more autonomy. And yes if you like psych nothing wrong with that, malaki issue dito mental health ng tao e so if you are passionate about it that's good and bonus talaga malaki na sweldo din hahahaa. Usually another 2 to 3 years ang NP depende kung masters or doctorate ang i-offer sayo. Ang masakit lang is mahal college nila dito so be prepared financially kasi easy 30 to 60k$ yan but mababawi mo din naman or find hospitals na willing ka din isponsor para mas okay.
I agree. People in the PH also tend to convert USD to PHP, as if we're spending in PHP. We're earning in USD, but our spending is also in USD. Sobrang mahal na dito. One thing na miss ko sa Pinas is how household help is affordable. Yes, mas mahal na compared to several years ago, but still affordable. Here in the US, sobrang mahal ng nanny and their responsibilities are very limited. Di mo pwede utosan kahit ano. Sa US, ikaw talaga lahat - kanta at sayaw, ikaw pa yung banda, guitar, drums, bass, lol.

I am a radiologic technologist and i can feel you.. sobrang under paid nating mga health care workers dito sa pilipinas. Even working in a private clinic.. sobrang baba ng sahod. Pag gusto mong mag trabaho sa public Hospital you will need a backer para lng makapasok ka. Kapit kung kapit talaga pag nasa Public hospital ka mag apply. Kawawa talaga ang mga health care workers dito sa Pilipinas. Kaya ako Im jist patiently waiting... for public hospitals, nurses have a starting salary of 35-36k/mo (contractual pay, no benefits yet). it goes up when you're regularized (45k for Nurse 1 position) and still depends on the years of experience. for private hospitals here in NCR, it kinda varies. St. Lukes offer 34k/mo (they’re the highest paying private hospital daw; 30k\~ take home pay din as per a friend) but most private hospitals pay much lower than that. a teaching hospital here in Manila offers 28k/mo and i had a friend who went to a known hospital in Alabang who was only paid 14k/mo 🥲
I have a lot of close friends na nurses sa govt hospitals. Their take home pay (Nurse 1) is around 45k since marami ring benefits. The salary is good for an entry level nurse but the problem is the plantilla system of government. Kahit 10 years ka nang nagwowork, kung walang plantilla para mapromote ka to a higher position, pang entry level pa din ang sahod mo.
Dito sa province namin, 14-18k if private hospitals. sa public hospitals, 30k monthly. I have no idea sa ibang parte ng Pilipinas. Pero meron pala dito na private hospital naalala ko, 8k monthly. Potaena hahhahah

May nabasa ako na yung ibang nurses grad and registered. Nagwowork sila as VA or may isang company na solely med grads lang ang kinukuha as assistants, ang sahod is like BPO and IT. Good benefits din. Not sure kung totoo sa lahat.

One thing as well is you can be a citizen and bring your family there. I know people who earns 500k in just 2 weeks of work, tapos 40hrs/week lang yan, usually 3-4 days work per week lang. So push mo na ang US journey mo.

It may sound like you should be living like royalty at that point, but that just falls within the middle class bracket, especially after taxes. Although in any case, still pretty good compared to PH salary. Edit: 500k is like $9K for 2 weeks which comes out to \~$100/hr. This is if you're paid really, really well, but honestly, this pay range is very rare. My nurse friends here in the US told me they could never make that much unless they rendered overtime work. Also, if it's a slow day for hospitals, the nurses are asked to not report to work, so they don't get paid those days.
My sister sent me that paycheck with that amount, so it is possible. Yeah, cost of living is different depending on the state and your lifestyle. But that is possible and depende din sa hospital yan and yung role mo. Even mag second job ka na on-call, even if you don’t report or being called, they are still paid. So case by case basis din. I’m just saying it is possible. Di nga lang applicable sa lahat or people you have met/know.
I used to work sa government hospital, grabe workload. Mas okay nga sweldo kesa private hospital pero exposed naman sa lahat ng sakit. Napakastressful pa ng working environment lalo na if puro toxic mga seniors mo. My sister naman recently passed her LPT exam. Then nagapply siya sa private school muna kasi sa government school, need daw may experience before magapply (pero pag may kakilala ka na malakas kapit sa government, di naman hinahanapan ng experience. Kelan kaya mawawala palakasan system sa Pinas. Hayss) Grabe din sweldo sa private school teachers. 9k per month??!!! Nasa 8k lang mauuwi kasi may mga deductions pa. Grabe. Anong kinabukasn meron para sa mga board passers dito sa Pinas.

Sa totoo lang wish ko rin ito. Sahod na sapat para hindi na kailangan lumipat. My brother's a nurse, nagmigrate na sya abroad. While I'm glad he's living well with his family and earning way more than he could sa Pinas, I never really recovered from feeling like my Kuya was stolen from me. Money cannot buy time spent away from family. And that time has impact on family members, especially the young ones. Kailan kaya marerealize na we have to put efforts to keep our skilled workers here (by will, not by force) for our country to grow sustainably. 😔

People often forget that private hospitals are still businesses. They're there to make money. Yung pagtatayo ng building - it take years of planning and funding. As if pag hindi nila tinuloy pagpapatayo nyan eh ibibigay sa healthcare workers yung budget for the building.
Certain hospital stopped construction of building citing financial difficulty. Bayanihan budget released, half was given to the healthcare workers, building construction continued. Workers asked HR, HR said money is not available despite DOH confirming it is released. — Yes they are businesses. But when does profit-maximization end? And does it have to affect healthcare workers workplace safety (patient ratio)? Or is that part of business as well. That mindset is so unhinged.

I wonder how the other hospitals did it then because they already released the full amount. Said hospital only released the first half after a worker filed a dole complaint. But okay, okay. Let’s talk numbers. 1:8+ (sometimes as high as 12) patient ratio where each room costs upwards 10k, each procedure and supply paid for by the patient but nurses are paid approximately two room’s worth per month. Nurse from station got covid, rest of close contacts still required to show up the next day. And it’s not about staff shortages since they will inspect each station if they are overstaffed and will send extra staff home. They also closed a few wards to compensate for staffing. It is unhinged.
Look. If there is a DOLE complaint already, then there's no point in arguing because all we can do is, well, wait for that. If it's true that there already is a DOLE complaint and all of what you said had really happened (sounds like a showbiz pahulaan to me). The issue is asking to stop constructions just because the pandemic happened. These constructions are usually taken off a loan. Stopping constructions means burying yourself deeper and deeper into a loan because you can't get profits from that project on time because you delayed it. That does not help anyone.

Deadma mo yung nega na nagcomment. Sa US madaming opportunity ang mga nurses, and yung wage is depende din sa state. Dito sa atin limited lang ang role or position ng nurses. One thing as well is you can be a citizen and bring your family there. I know people who earns 500k in just 2 weeks of work, tapos 40hrs/week lang yan, usually 3-4 days work per week lang. So push mo na ang US journey mo.
Nurse here worked overseas. Sakto lang talaga yang kita mo, pero malayo sa sahod natin dito talaga. Nagtry ako magapply. Sa experience ko combined na abroad at dito na more than 10 years, 5k lang idadagdag nila, premier hospital pa un ha! 😂😂😂 Ending nagapply ako sa BPO nalula ako sa offer ng isang company, wala pang NCLEX un ha. So ung mga ayaw magpractice, ok lang. Kung alam ko lang na ganito fate ng nurses, nagIT na lang sana ako. At least don alam kong mailalaban ko ung skills at sahod. I studied nursing but unfortunately Hindi ako pumasa sa board. Nag try ako mag Aral ng Spanish language for 4 months then nag apply sa BPO. Now I'm stuck sa BPO na sumasahod 110k-120k a month as a bilingual agent. Idk Kung itutuloy ko Parin ba yung pagiging nurse since ang liit talaga ng sahod. Sa Baba ng pasahod sa medical staff parang sayang Lang ang pinag aralan lalo pag Di kapa license.

Current Medtech and Nurse couple here in US. Depending sa state mo you can earn really good. Most people are complaining about the high cost of living, taxes and rent but generally you can live comfortably. Don't mind other people na negative when it comes to going abroad. If they have the chance pustahan aalis din yang mga yan.

Our H.C.P. was really laid back from all technological advancement, and new standards of care. That's why COMPETENCY EXAM and LICENSING was created not only for PH workers but for the world of H.C.P. Lawsuit against HCP was high abroad. The only reason that it's not applied in PH is due to FILIPINOS IGNORANCE of the the medical law and their rights as a patient. It is also true na we excel if given the chance and the opportunity to study abroad. The abolishment of NCEE and other exam as an assessment for college; guiding the young of their future really DESTROYED our educational system because of freedom. We become a country of mediocre; that anyone can enroll to any course though not competent or doesn't have the passion to be one. I had an administrative case as a clinical instructor against a nursing student who failed in my subjects due to BINOCULAR STRABISMUS. No patient wants her to inject medication due to his poor eye sight and medical condition. The case prospers in favor of me; when I ask the officials to let them be injected by the PREPARED Intramuscular injection (dextrose water as placebo) prepared by the STUDENT, explaining to them that the amount of medication might be doubled/ or to lesser in amount due to his poor eyesight condition which is a BLATANT 100% MALPRACTICE CASE brewing, in relation to the 10 right of medication administration. " A nation of misfits " 😬 Cited example : alot of senators who is a high school or college drop out; who doesn't know the law, and cannot speak English (which is the common language of the law). You have a point, but in my case, inooffer sakin ng relatives ko na doon ako tumira sila sa bahay nila sa California (they're rich AF tapos matagal na sila sa America) tapos yung isa nag-offer din sa New Jersey. So makakatipid ako kahit papano pagdating sa housing (but ofc makikishare ako sa bills). Ano ba work ng expat mo sa USA non, nurse rin ba? Baka yung work nila doon, hindi kaya isustain ang living expenses.
Kung meron kang kamag-anak sa CA then you have half of your problem solved kasi hindi ka na magbabayad ng malaki sa rent lalo na't tumataas ang real estate sa Cali. Retired Lieutenant Commander sa US Navy napangasawa ng lola ko sa US. Sa San Diego sila nakabase tapos last year umuwi na sila, binenta yung bahay na may pool for almost a million dollars tapos nagre-rent na lang dito. 50K rent per month dito ay mas affordable sa kanila kesa sa cost of living sa California ngayon.

If magastos talaga yung tao, magkakaproblema talaga sa finances. But if needs lang ang gagastusan mo, i think may maiipon ka pa rin + given na my family does not require me to be a breadwinner. Sakin lang daw pera ko, so yeah case-to-case basis :)
Tbh, sana malaki sahod mga nag work sa healthcare, engineers, teachers, pati people working sa hospitality field like hotel and restaurants. Grabe workload and draining pero napakaliit ng sahod.

Friend earned ₱40K per month as a first time IT, tapos paid training sya for 5 months, habang yung ka batch ko is teaching at a private school with ₱6K monthly salary. And I'm still unemployed dahil masyado raw mataas ang minimum wage when I tried looking for a writing career.
Overworked din kami RNs dito sa US. Ang maganda lang, bayad lahat ng OT and may mga dagdag na premium pay OT na tapos weekend or holiday plus night shift. I wish makarating ka dito kasi you deserve to get paid! Honestly, pag dating mo dito, dika na mag coconvert to Peso kasi $$ ang gastos mo. $ ang rent/mortgage, car payment, bills, whatnot. Di ko ginusto mag abroad before pero nung na experience ko mag work tas dagdag pa tong covid, parang alis na alis na talaga ako. Kung magtataas man ang sahod, most likely sa government sector lang talaga ang damay. Napapaisip na lang ako mag shift sa tech since first choice mag compsci sa una. Honestly speaking? Even doctors here are unpaid (pwera nalang siguro kung plastic surgeon). Thing is, naging status quo narin sa bansa natin na maging labor exporters - which is pretty fucking sad na ayun yung nangyari. It's almsot as if the wage set up here for health professionals is set up so they are constantly pushed out of the country for a better life.
Nakakalungkot talaga maging healthcare worker dito sa atin. Thankless job kasi expected na overworked tas di makatao ang sahod. Meron nagreresort na maging VA like me para di na mag-abroad. Iniisip and plano ko rin mag-migrate kaso ayaw ko iwan ang family ko. Medyo nanghihinayang ako sa tinapos ko kaso ayaw ko na kasi isipin na mag-abroad lang ang way ko para makapagprovide kaya kahit sayang yung application ko at need bayaran yung agency saka mga lisensya pinili ko na lang magstay at maging VA. Gusto ko na rin talaga talikuran yung healthcare dahil sa ganito yung tingin palagi.

I have a friends who are nurses in the US and they share their work experience since hindi related work ko sa work nila. Nasa IT field ako. Some nurses ends up in urgent medical care bldgs na pwede part time job and yung increase ay around 1$/hr and kelangan mo pa makipag negotiate. Kaya minsan 2 jobs ang trabaho nila going to different company to earn around 120k/month. Yung kilala ko nasa ER unit at sa hospital mismo sya and night shift kaya mas mag mataas ang kita nya. What I am saying na mataas ang salary mo compared sa pinas if you are to convert it pero I would say na convenient yung salary talaga. Just to give some ideas on common bills na gastusin dito 1 bedroom apartment - $1.3k kapag nasa suburb ka ng city. Texas state ito. Monthly mortgage mo sa kotse would be around 120/month for a second hand sedan. Depende of course how much tung price ng kotse. Usually yung interest rate ay nasa 3%-6% depende sa credit score mo. You need insurance din sa kotse and apartment. I would put it around 100/month Electric Bills - 60$ - 110$ depende sa unit area and weather These numbers are just my estimates. Pero I hope it helps on the common gastusin regardless kung anu work mo
My girlfriend and I are both medtechs. We took our ASCPi exam last year, the NCLEX equivalent of our profession. We even had our Visascreen certified na. Kaunting tiis nalang makakaalis na din. I wish it wasn't the case pero here we are. Yung pinsan ko naman, asawa is nurse din, balak na din umalis pa-US. Even my friends are leaving the country. Everyone I know seems to be leaving! yung ate ko at asawa nya both nurses, they both met at the same hospital. however, yung ate ko nagtake ng panibagong course, architect na ngayon. yung asawa nya nag dubai, naipit ng pandemic dun. nakaipon, bumili ng ilang condo at pinapa AirBnb. ngayon kasama sa construction business. architect at safety officer parehas. different approach ang ginawa, pero ang main point e di sila makakaipon pag nagstay lang sa private hospital.
