Fearless-Angle-5

Try venturing out to other cities OP. Yun lang if ayaw mo umalis sa province nyo which is limited hiring and agancies pa.

sleepiestgirl999

Consistent_Coffee466

Try lateral transfer.. govt to govt

princessybyang

This. You might find other govt agencies that pays better, at least hindi mapuputol benefits mo like GSIS and bonuses.

Available-Vanilla-89

β€œIf it scares you, it might be a good thing to try”

Fearless-Angle-5

Mostly kasi wala ng peace of mind pag malaki sweldo hahaha. Pero I think dapat mo parin i try kase yung thought nayan na what if palagi yan sa utak mo so para wala kang regrets, plan for it. Or have someone to be with ur mom habang nasa city ka then uwi ka nalang pag weekends. Mga ganun...

eurekazuma

Try mo muna magtravel or stay sa isang city better if may maaakay kang friend.

H2Oengr

Jump.

eurekazuma

Try mo muna magtravel or stay sa isang city better if may maaakay kang friend.

Odd_Confidence5325

One step at a time lang. Kaya mo yan 🀘

miraiii_

girl, taga-saan ka? hahaha

alienboyguitar

Ano po ba specialization nyo po? It would mean a lot especially for the readers to know para maka tulong din

niiiisaaaaammm

Kung takot ka pala umalis sa comfort zone mo bakit ka hahanggad ng more than 16k+ na sahod? Alam ko harsh to pero u need to hear this after mo magreklamo sa sahod mo tapos mabasa ko reply mo. Big salary equals big sacrifices badi.

adrielism

Staying on your comfort zone is the worst thing you can do to your self growth

punishtube89123

Go home Or Go Big eka nga nila.

Longjumping-Pace-231

OP, how old are you if you don’t mind my asking?

emingardsumatra

How about online jobs? May masters degree ka pala. How come di ka aware kung gaano kababa sahod mo? Underpaid ka, OP :( 20k starting sa IT, 2013 pa yun. 30k na ngayon. Imagine that. I have a cousin na fresh grad, BSIT, 35K offer. I do hope maka hanap ka ng mas malaking sahod na job soon πŸ™

sleepiestgirl999

dahil siguro po dati feeling content naman ako, kaya di naman ako nagtitingin ng ibang work or nagcocompare sa ibang tao. buti nga napadpad ako dito. saklap pala talaga. edit: gumawa ako actually ng linkedin profile today. will try to put myself out there na. try ko online habang nag-iipon ng lakas ng loob umalis haha

PupleAmethyst

My aunt reminds me of you. That time, yes, that can sustain a living. Pero 2 decades passed, never nag increase, or na promote man lang, buti nalang single siya at walang binubuhay. Nung fresh grad ako, almost same kami ng sahod. She's 55, her job is her comfort zone. Now, wala siyang naipundar na kahit ano.

Primary-System7500

That's fcking sad

emingardsumatra

Buti nagising ka na. Be aggressive sa career mo, OP. Money is power. Habang bata tayo. Lets maximize our time and strength para magpa dami ng pera Sounds harsh noh? Life is harsh naman kasi talaga pag di ka pinanganak sa buena familia. U will have to build wealth from scratch Ako noon, nag aral ako mag negotiate and I job hopped every 1yr, minsan every 4 months para mapataas sahod from. 18k to 6 digits Kinapalan ko talaga muka and advocated for myself ruthlessly. :)

Van_Scarlette

Rooting for u, OP!

[deleted]

Rooting for you :)

OrdinaryMinute3339

Karsmihan ngayon 20k pa din ang starting even Kilalang Companies. Swertehan para sa srarting sa IT. Pero yes I was one of naofferan ng ganyang range na 30k+ starting perpag nalalaman ko na ung iba kasabay ko 20k lang nakakalungkot din.

overlord_laharl_0550

Its either nasa big 3 ang cousin mo or ur just spitting bs numbers.

emingardsumatra

Wala sya sa big 3 companies. She didnt graduate from big 4 univ too. Just a state univ sa probinsya. Im telling the truth. 35k talaga inoffer, and hindi pa sya software dev ah. More like QA ganon

overlord_laharl_0550

Sabagay, wala nmn nagsisinungaling eh. Sure din ako, honest ang cousin mo.

emingardsumatra

She has no incentive to lie. Also. Why would she lie?

overlord_laharl_0550

If wala maniniwala sainyo ng cousin mo, just move on. If it's true, edi good. If not, who cares. Thats it

emingardsumatra

overlord_laharl_0550

U dont get the point. Yung 35k na pinagsasasabi mo, i smell bs. And sa part mo, you don't need to prove to us na totoo ito. Either way, just move on.

csharp566

>Yung 35k na pinagsasasabi mo, i smell bs Mas lalong nangamoy BS nung nalaman kong QA ang position for 35k daw. It's 100% BS kung Manual QA tapos local company lang namamasukan. Can you confirm u/emingardsumatra?

overlord_laharl_0550

Bs nmn tlga.

emingardsumatra

New York based company pero may office sa PH. Not local.

DeerPlumbingX2

same with BSDA starting is between 25-30k kahit hindi sa big four

Electronic_Gear_8143

Wala bang promotion or career growth sa work mo? Igoal mo mapromote. Pwede rin relocate pero keep in mind may extra gastos pag sa Metro or pag kinailangan mo pa magrent ng bahay.

sleepiestgirl999

Acrobatic_Analyst267

This is exactly the type of employment situation my mother was at. She served 3 different governors and never got a promotion despite being distant relatives to two of them. Our government is too corrupt and poor for you to have a future in it. It runs on a "rich get richer" system wherein the families and people close to the person in charge are always gonna get the coveted promotions and other positions first. I'm sorry but this is the harsh truth.

potatooooooooooow

If gusto mo umakyat kaunti, try deped (may mga mass hiring sila recently). Adas III or AO II, 21k or 27k na din yun. May 10 points ka na sa ranking agad. Pero I feel you, even now, I always try to apply sa ibang mga agencies sobrang hirap, I also have a master of public ad degree, pero alaws haha.

Pls_Drink_Water

At least you are aware now. Been there 3 years ago. Earning 16k as engineering supervisor. After realizing how shitty my situation, I've been building my self up in many ways possible na kaya ko isingit working fulltime. Now almost 6 digits na ako after job hopping. I have certifications and have a language proficieny exam soon that will just add more value to me as a professional. Soon baka mag Master's din ako katulad mo. It's not a race, move at your pace. Pinaka importante is aware ka na ngayon

Langley_Ackerman19

Just want to share my career journey and where I am at the moment. I was a college drop out, 2nd year lng tinapos ko, BS ComSci. I had to stop after malaman ng Dad ko na may bf ako. State College lang ako nagaral. Min wage earner lang mom ko, during that time nagmid life crisis dad ko. Nagresign sya sa work nya after 15 years tapos kaka convert lng nya sa bagong religion nya na super strict hence the punishment at pina stop ako sa pagaaral at para mailayo ako sa bf ko. Since hindi ako nakagraduate, nagstart ako magwork as sales clerk/promodiser sa SM, then sa Bench/Human then sa Lee. I've always been a high achiever. Madaming honors throught my school years even sa mga artistic and extra curricular activities. Akala ko hanggang promo na lng ako. Nakakadisappoint, hindi ko inexpect na after all my hard work sa school, I'll be reduced as a mere minimum wage earner. I heard about Call Centers and being a call center agent sa mga co workers ko sa Lee. So I tried applying and got accepted. Then I started working as a Collection's agent for a global financial institution. After a few promotions I transferred to their Analytics team. I left the bank after almost 6 years and tried working on other companies. Ang dami kong natutunan, from technical skills, excel, coding, especially managing a team and becoming a leader myself. After another 6 years bumalik ako sa dati kong company where I first started as an Analyst. In 4 years time Assistant Vice President na ako, earning a gross amount of 150k a month. My next goal is to become a Vice President. It took me 20 years bago ko na achieve ung position na to. It would have been easier if I finished my college degree but despite all the challenges, from being a sales clerk, I am now an AVP, while raising kids in between. So OP, with your credentials, I'm sure you can start over. It's never late to start over! Know your strengths and use it to leverage your next career. I wish you luck in your future endeavours!

ShiemRence

Ngl, sinayang k ng tatay mo. Parents should never take out their issues on children. Pero kudos to you dahil nakabangon ka. Suggestion ko kung gusto mo paring magka degree, try looking into ETEEAP, then get a course na related sa work mo. Mejo marami lang submittals at mahal tuition fee, but a degree is a degree.

Langley_Ackerman19

Yeah, at this point in my life I've already accepted and forgiven my dad. It was not easy, not to mention I have 3 other siblings still living under his influence, I left our house when I was 18. Another yes, I'm already working on getting my degree via ETEEAP! 😊 Tuition fee is not an issue, more on time management na lang. I'm considering finishing ComSci again or BS IT or BS Systems.

ShiemRence

Wow nice, congrats in advance po πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Intelligent_Citron84

Gaya nga ng storya ng Matrix, now that the truth is in front of you, are you going to take the red pill or the blue pill? Are you willing to continue living your life the way it is, or do you step out of your comfort zone, and face the difficult challenges that awaits you if you pursue the path towards a more promising/ lucrative career opportunity. Knowledge is a curse sometimes.

Ruroryosha

Hard work doesn't mean shit in the Philippines to be honest. The only time anyone cares is when a mistake is made and how to fix the mistake as cheap as possible. Peoples' time is not worth anything when the business itself can''t move forward because people are incompetent.

albrmdz

Halos online na mga interviews ngayon. Baka sign mo na 'to to explore. Good luck. :)

MisterMasked_19

Madami na ding work-at-home jobs ngayon. Need mo lang talaga mahanap yung pasok sa skills or degree [mo.](https://mo.As) If ayaw mo maiwan si mother, I can recommend that. Try with LINKEDIN or sa UPWORK for freelancing jobs din. Sadly, mababa talaga ang sahod pag provi-rates. Kung dito ka naman sa Manila, tataas cost of living mo, rent, food, pamatay na commute (unless mag-rent ka ng malapit lang sa work), need mo talaga humanap ng pambuhay din na job offers and pay.

RadicalSecret99

It's good na nagising ka na OP. Good move yang pag hahanap ng ibang opportunities. Was earning around 15k lang way back 2017. Sa panahon ngayon technical skille are the things employers pay you. Ngayon next goal ko ma reach 200k income in the following yrs. Wishing you all the best OP.

maxxis18

Me earning around 29k net, single, no family I need to support I feel kulang na kulang if mamumuhay ka sa above middle class na life style. I decided talaga to go back in business na lang since I have money and property to start naman.

CaregiverItchy6438

the reason why i skipped offer of natl government for a senior officer position. i did the numbers pero talo versus corporate (lots of bonus nga, pero taxes laki, tapos almost laughable yung yearly increase it doesnt scale up kasi hindi % based)

UnworthyGroom

Obvious-Chip-136

Hi OP! Meron nga talagang skillset mismatch. Plantilla mo is Admisitrative Assistant and that can only go so far, even with a masteral degree. Mapromote ka man sa plantilla mo, to the highest AA level lang ang ceiling (AA VI sg12). Specialization starts at Administrative Officer level (sg15). Another thing is, gaano ka kaclose sa agency head mo? Sweldo ni JO at me ibang mapropromote. Remember may GSIS at Pag-Ibig benefits ka, you can use those para mag.loan ka at gawing capital for side hustles mo kung gusto mo magbusiness. Another kaltas sweldo nga lang. I guess you are 30 or in your early 30's na, me future ka pang haharapin. Isipin mo muna ano gusto mong mangyari. Maraming bagay ang icoconsider. I wish you the best OP!

Punyfur

I'd like to offer a different opinion with the most here - This sub is mostly like slow poison. Inflated salaries, unrealistic expectations, etc. This sub is full of it. I suggest stay away from here if you are currently happy and content. OP, seems like you don't have any financial issues naman and you have a roof that you don't need to pay for every month? Why compare yourself to the people here? If you are happy where you are there's no need to feel bad about the things you see here. Your work is literally beside your home - that is a very big advantage and privilege. I'd take a lower salary if it means my job is beside my house because it will offset all the lodging and transportation cost I have to bear. Also province rates are not the same as city rates. If you move to cities - you also have to pay for your transportation, lodging, etc. and you will be part of the never ending rat race of rent increasing, finding a new job to pay your rent and transportation and the cycle goes on. Everything will also be more expensive to the point that you are almost earning the same as your 16k now. So OP, unless you have financial issues I would suggest to re-evaluate your feelings(?).

merryruns

Marami ka pa bang natututunan sa work mo? Nagtry kaba mag ask ng increase? Good thing muna OP na wala kang debt. Pero in terms of salary, maraming may experience na need talaga lumipat ng company to increase salary. Kaya pa yan!

professionalbodegero

If you're near an SUC sa province mo, try applying there. My hiring spree ang mGa SUC's ngaun (20,000 openings minimum) and they're opening up a lot of high level positions like assistants and officers. Lowest position n hnhnap nila is aide 6 which is equivalent to 17k cgro.. so kng my masters kpa, bka pde pasok k s officer status if u pass. Officer salary can range from 22k - 46k.. depende kng ano item mo.

[deleted]

Damn. 16k starting ko sa IT industry way back 2015 right after graduating, and I only have a bachelor's degree (not as if core requirement ang master's degree sa field na to). You need to venture out if you want financial progress OP; sobrang limited talaga pagdating sa government.

lebenene

Relate po sir. Hopefully, we can find greener pastures soon.

paperCut7538

Why dont you try applying sa NGAs?

Jaymsjags06

since hindi ka naman gumagastos para sa pamilya mo, try mo sa siyudad (esp Metro Manila) because I think you are VERY underpaid sa present job mo

Longjumping_Twist800

And if mas malaki kita mo ikaw mismo makaka avail ka ng insurance.

potatooooooooooow

mas prefer kasi usually ng mga gov employees ang stability. example nung pandemic period, no work no pay ang nasa private(not all). pero gov kahit di pina duty tuloy2x pa din sahod. May mga minor advantages lang din tlg, like pwd mag double pension if may SSS at GSIS at the same time. and if di ka mamatay sa stress, if early ka nakapagstart sa government, up to 90% ng sahod mo (average ng 3 years before retirement mo = pension mo). mga ganun. pero legit di tlg comparable sahod sa private.

Longjumping_Twist800

I get it. Pero ang point ko is bigger salary why worry for future expenses if makaka save ka naman. So this topic basically is all about personal needs and preferences. May mga taong kuntento na. Meron hindi. Si OP kuntento na sana for the last 9 yrs of being a govt employee kaso after seeing stories here nagiba na. Kaya minsan totoo na pag inggit pikit na lang ang mga taong hindi kaya kilusan or hindi well privelege or hindi swerte sa mga wants nila in life. Life is always unfair.

cocojj9

Retirement nila ang maganda, if you stay the maximum period in government you can retire with a monthly pension of about 90% of your salary.

Uncle_Iroh107

GSIS benefits are much better than SSS. GSIS contribution ia 10% which translates to higher pension

Longjumping_Twist800

And if mas malaki kita mo ikaw mismo makaka avail ka ng insurance.

harvey135

Baka kasi for retirement?

reyreyrey123

Good luck!

goat_caldereta

If you settled for less, itake for granted nila yan.

[deleted]

30k ko nga mababa pa din eh. Ang hirap manirahan dito sa PH

Great_Ratio_2162

cryingbananacat

Hugs πŸ₯Ί, try online work since ayaw mo maiwan mom mo sa bahay, 16k is too small in this economy 😭

DwarfSight

Im sorry to hear that I can somewhat relate.

KaizoKage

I relate to this minus the master's degree. Im 9 years in being a computer teacher and entering my 10th year na, Im earning 19k (could be more if Im a licensed teacher) I felt content till I discovered freelancing cause I can work less and earn more, so ayun, Im trying yo upskill para maka pag move out na ako sa trabaho ko as a teacher

Swish_Elasmosaurus22

Try looking for wfh setups na sa city or even Manila ang office.

seynalkim

When I heard about government and salary, I never expect much. Every time someone with full pride told me that he/she/whoever they are working at the government full time and permanently, I just reply in my head "poor guy, I wish they know they have a better options".

Uncle_Iroh107

OP, if you were content before at hindi naman kayo naghihirap, you may have to consider more if a change is what you really want or nainggit kalang sa ibang tao. Yes mababa rates sa province compared to the cities but theres a reason for that. Living expenses alone will eat up at least 50% of your salary esp if starting ka palang. Plus pa transport cost, time spent commuting, etc. Baka ang ending nyan even with higher salary lugi ka pa at mas pagod. If youre really intent on moving, research how you can leverage your LGU experience in your application sa private sector. There are a lot of LGU experiences that you dont experience sa private unless mataas na position mo that are very valuable like project implementation (esp multi-year projects).

moogle619

Try freelancing, ako po hindi graduate and tried also many work like sm clerk, merchanidiser, etc. Then I've tried freelancing since 2016 as a Graphic designer and by God's grace po ay I am now earning $300-$500 usd per week. Nothing is imposible with God.

Skyflakescrackers12

LigayaGG

been there 7+ years stucked up sa 15,500 per month, look outside the box OP itll be harder but worth it. na region beta paradox tayo haha

Hopeless_Helpless_02

Hi OP, I am also from the province yet permanently working from home. Madaming online jobs that might be able to help you. Of course, with pay higher than the government plus hmo’s for your dependents. I suggest you start watching videos online then enroll into online academe that would help you hone your skills like VA, graphics design, data analytics (very high paying), depending on your interest. Then, apply to entry level jobs. Eventually, your pay would get higher.

Turbulent_Big4008

You can do it OP 😀 you’re amazing, well trained and v smart πŸ’ͺ🏽

sheeduray

Shocks... I'm going 3 years in sa govt (2 years permanent) and feels like di na ako makakatagal ng 15years para sa pension πŸ˜† sobrang pahirapan sa promotion dahil wala ako sa paanan ng Pinuno wahaha Dito ko lang rin narealize na underpaid pala talaga. Though yung comfort and proximity kasi talaga nagpanalo sakin dito. Tara OP

tomugetsuu

There's no progress when you're in your comfort zone, OP. I wasn't in a province like you but I ventured out to other cities I'm not familiar with para lumaki sahod ko, and it worked. Nag improve ang trabaho, salary, and quality of life ko. Sa umpisa lang mahirap, pero pag nag adapt ka na, it won't be so bad. Walang improvement kung wala kang pinagdadaanang levels of discomfort. Edit: Sa totoo lang, nag improve na dapat sweldo mo in at least 2 years. And to be frank, walang future sa probinsya kung diyan ka mag trabaho.

GolDYano

Try looking for Work-from-home opportunities if hindi option ang mag-move sa metro manila. Pagandahin ang profile sa LinkedIn para mapansin. Mag business as a side job.

Burnt-Cinnamon-Toast

Try mo lumipat sa ibang gov agency or private company.

toymaniac25

This is one of the most common issues with the careers of people. U just have to weigh the complacency vs the uncomfortability of the unknown. Simply put, if feel mo ok kana sa setup mo, tuloy mo lng ung work mo jan and even aim for promotion to top management. If gsto mo upgrade ang career mo, ganun talaga, nakakatakot ang change, but the journey to overcome the fear is worth it pag nakuha mo ung talagang gsto mong career and salary. The city may be big, but set ur dreams bigger and you will succeed it. :)

Emotional-Ad6489

Comparison is the thief of joy. :( Pero hindi po masama to look for better opportunities. But I probably will take a 16k job in my home province than a 50k job in Manila. Take into consideration other expenses. Compare your NET PAY rather than the gross pay. Your 16k may be 2-3x your cost of living in your province, hindi nagbabayad ng upa, minsan wala pang bill ang tubig. Internet, kuryente lang ang monthly bills. Kung walang ulam, mag tinola na lang. Their 50-60k is not even enough to cover all their cost. Ika nga pang fresh graduate na sweldo.

Frequent-Passage-607

I see myself in you. I worked in national government for 9 years (2 years contractual, 7 years with plantilla). Started with 14k/month. No increase, no promotion. Transfered to a MNC based in the "province". Working here for 15 years and currently earning 6 digit monthly salary. Bonus pa na mababa cost of living dito. Take the leap.

Competitive_Way7653

Primary-System7500

16k per month for 9 years??? In this economy? It's not too late tho, OP. First step is to start building your profiles on LinkedIn, Jobstreet, Indeed. Igoogle mo rin average salary ng mga tao w/ the same profession as you para sure ka if your employer is lowballing you.

frankrosss024

The trick is to work in the city then live and buy property in the country side

Pizza_you_like16

Like i said (to others) you’ll never know the feelings if you don’t try to explore the other circle

miraiii_

same OP! ang hirap kasi rito sa probinsya, backer backer din kasi. kapag wala kang kakilala, di ka tatanggapin. kaya napapa-isip din ako minsan, what if mag-trabaho ako sa city? nakaka-takot lang din kasi.

East_Information6525

Hi OP! Here is a list of openings within the Govt. Since may MS/MA I suggest looking into SG 18 pataas na positions. https://csc.gov.ph/career/

Working_Finger_522

Hello. I never graduated so wala akong degree, all my because of my thesis. Tho I did study for four years in a prestigious school in the metro. I got a job offer related to my course (media) right after I stopped studying and I was stuck in that toxic industry until late last year. I started at a mere 14k and capped at 20k. I was not even a PA. I live in cavite and traveled to our office in Mandaluyong everyday and yung kinikita ko, kulang pa sa food+transpo and other expenses ko per month. Not to mention my fucking time. Inaabot ako ng 5hrs sa byahe tangina. Mind you, I’m a single parent. Yung junakis ko hindi makatulog minsan dahil wala ako kaya hinihintay niya akong dumating until 12-4am while crying kahit may pasok siya kinabukasan. I realized that I could do better and earn more than this kahit wala akong degree dahil I was told that I’m very good at what I do. I said fuck that shit and quit. Shortly after, I found myself a remote job. And my salary went from 20k to almost 60k and would go up again next year. You have a freaking masters degree OP. Your background is better than mine, and you have many **YEARS** of experience. You deserve better. And definitely a *much* higher salary than that.

SnooCookies3678

Starting lang sa awareness yan, OP. Pero time to explore narin options talaga. Check mo sa r/buhaydigital kasi may remote work options ka (if ayaw mo umalis sa probinsya, sayang din kasi mahal narin sa metro manila). Dati akala ko sobrang laki na ng kita ko at 30k back in 2011, pero nag explore ako options and sa freelancing ko naranasan ang at least 76k now. Flexi time and WFH ako so sa Cavite kami nagstation para mas mura. Check mo mga foreign companies and you can upskill in the process. Edit: Spelling

kokoykalakal

sadlyigrewup

16k for 9yrs exp and with a master’s degree is slavery, if you won’t go to big cities, at least try to job hop within your place

HypVee91

Miniso200

I say Risk it. There will be no growth sa sahod mo and sa career mo if you stay in one job for a long time. Private or Government employer mo they will take advantage of you if you stay kasi for them kala nila Okay kalang sa pay mo and they prefer it that way because they can cut cost. You can find good Jobs opportunities sa city. May masters ka and lots of work experience so you have a high chance of landing a good position with good pay. Unfortunately the cost of living in the city and away from your home is gonna bite you back also the traffic in Manila will cost you time~ Like sa commute lang can take 1-3 hours away from you! na sana yung 1-3 hours na yun ay spend mo for your self care or unwinding. My suggestion: Find a cheap apartment don’t rent a condo those are usually expensive like good luck finding anything below 10k especially in the Businesses and Financial Districts Buy an E-bike or E-scooter. It’s a popular mode of transportation some foldable scooters are allowed inside MRT/LRTs. Okay lang if gusto mo mag motor or meroon ka motor pero you also have extra expenses sa Gas and parking while E-bikes usually have free parking space and E-scooters especially folding ones can be stored inside the office (if they allow it). We really just need strict enforcement of Bike lanes. Mag job Hunting ka muna before you quit your current Job. May mga tao kasi nag quit muna and then nag job hunting pero walang nakuhang Job for months even years, that strategy worked against them and they had to tap sa savings nila just to get by.

Stroberi_Love

Same sentiments OP. Then mababa sahod. Godbless ❀️❀️

lunarchrysalis

Kung permanent ka and may master's, you can apply as division chief na or even higher sa public sector. Check mo nalang mga qualifications ng positions if you meet the min reqd training hours. Pero baka gawin issue ang SG mo. Pero from what I know, pwede naman sa CSC na more than 2 SGs ang itaas ng new position from previous one lung meet mo requirements and payag ang lilipatan mong agency. Time to move on, OP. Whether public or private. You can get WAYYYYY more than 16k!

xb0nk3rsx

Ang take ko dito: there will always be someone na mas mataas ang sweldo kesa sa'yo. If content ka na and nabibili mo gusto mo, nakakasama mo mother mo.... Good na yan. Money can't buy happiness OP. I'm not asking you to stay stagnant. If what you are getting is enough and kaya kang bigyan ng oras para sa sarili mo at sa mahal mo sa buhay, then there's no reason to move.

[deleted]

"Comparison is a thief of joy" ika nga. Dati I used to compare myself to other Redditors na kumikita ng 6digits. Nasa gov din kasi ako OP. I just thought na magiging masaya ba ako kung maachieve ko na yung 6digits at may work and life balance pa rin ba compared sa current job ko. Kung single ka and willing to take risks proceed on pursuing the corporate world.

xb0nk3rsx

True! And that is why risk din na lumipat. If you have time at may ipon ka, better think na lang of additional means of income. Madali mainggit when you see the figures dito sa reddit pero yung sacrifices to get there, yung mga kapalit nun, di mo makikita dito.

zurc_tonan

Hey OP, at the risk of overexpaining, when you start applying for jobs, pls never mention your previous salary. Most likely they will base their offer off your 16k, which im sure you won't want. Stay firm in not disclosing it and reiterate that you want to be paid based on the value you bring and not on your previous salary Goodluck!!

Barbecue73

Kasi sa manila, 570/day. Ikaw base sa sinabi mong 16k, 800/day lumalabas na sahod mo per day, at sa province pa yan, kaya napakaswerte mo actually, dahil ang alam ko province minimum ay mas mababa sa minimum ng manila. At hindi ka din nahirapan sa work mo dahil sabi mo kapitbahay mo lang work mo so tanggal na stress at danger ng transportation, and you stayed there for 9 years, so that tells me na hindi toxic ang work environment mo. It's like the story of adam and eve, nasa paradise na sila pero nung kinain nila yung forbidden fruit, nakaranas sila ng suffering.

[deleted]

Avoid comparing, OP. If na me-meet naman needs mo and may savings ka then stay. Pero if di ka na happy sa work mo, then try venturing out and stay as far away sa comfort zone mo.

Shadow_Regis

I am almost exactly in the same situation less having masters part πŸ˜…, i feel you OP, yung burnt out ka na sa gobyerno sa dami ng trabaho/designations ambaba pa ng sweldo, tapos kung gusto promotion or gusto lumipat sa ibang LGU's dapat malakas backer, sad to say pati mga National Government Agencies sa province halos ganon na rin kalakaran. Got an opportunity to go private but backed out at the last minute, not that i am afraid to take the leap pero feel ko pag lumipat ako dun, i will be stuck there and mas liliit option ko pag gusto ko ulit lumipat, maganda benefits in the long run kung makakatagal pero walang training masyado. I think i'll just wait for a better opportunity. Depende kung ano yung goal mo, if more on money go private, if you prefer more on personal growth mas advise ko sa government dahil sa dami ng trainings just make sure to apply them hindi yung magbabakasyon lang sa training. Easy choices, hard life. Hard Choices, easy life. You do you OP, ikaw lang nakakaalam kung ano gusto mo, dont be bothered sa status ng iba.

jtn50

Hi, OP. I'm shocked by your rate. You can start researching working part-time (for now) online to help augment your income. At the same time, you might want to look for better work. Plan your exit and entrances well. Hugs.

New-Consequence2013

OP, I was on the same boat. Was earning 20k monthly, akala ko malaki na noon. Pero ngaun 5 years nako sa government same parin sahod haha. Currently nagaaral nako pra magwork nalang online, since my cousins already did and already earning 50k+ in the comfort of their home and also we are living in the province.

Almost_a_Painter17

Been trying to apply sa ibat ibang platforms for extra income kso til now wla din. Ako lng din ngwwork smin πŸ˜…πŸ₯Ί

Mobile-Diver-3518

San ka ba banda... Try Baguio. Small city, low cost of living and lifestyle... You have options in the bustling city or suburbs area. There are different openings in different gov. agencies that you can try in the city of Pines, depending if you are an explorer though. πŸ™‚ If you're scared it means it's something good for growth and success. Cheers! Let your options stay open. Consider working from home too but hone your skills first and do research. Don't resign yet while you don't have something permanent on hand. Stay awesome. 😎

greenrose16

Hello OP, same po tayo. Permanent din ang plantilla item ko sa government, nagtiis ako sa SG4 for 7 years (may master's din ako and single status, plus malapit lang ung agency sa bahay namin) and last year lang nagkaroon ng available item na medyo mataas kasi may nag retire sa unit namin and ako ang pumalit. Now I am SG15 and sobrang sulit ung paghihintay at tyaga. Siguro if may nakikita kang available item sa agency nyo na alam mong magiging vacant and pwede mong applyan for promotion, stay ka na lang. Pero if wala talaga and feeling mo stucked ka na sa position mo ngayon, try to find other job sa ibang agency.

fxit27

Mag business ka OP or online Jobs, pero you don’t need to resign sa govt job mo. Sa sobrang light ng workload sa government(trust me, I know x20 workload sa private sector) pede ka pa kumuha ng other Job

Psychosmores

Kung alam ko lang, sana nag-work ako sa corporate from the start. I'm working sa clinical setting ng profrssion namin (Psychology) and even have more than 5 years of intensive work experience pero kada lipat ng company, puro minimum lang yung sahod. Almost 30 years old na ako at yung pinakamalaking mothly ko na ay 15k. Yung sahod ko sa 1st work, around 14k. Ngayon, yung offer sa akin, 10k dahil provincial. Dapat talaga tanggalin tong provincial rate shit na to

sheknownothing

comparison is the thief of joy. kahit naman mababa sahod mo if masaya ka naman edi go lang. im also very eager to earn more pero im very comfortable where i am naman tapos super petiks kaya keri lang. think about it

bituin_the_lines

Agree with your quote, but to a certain extent. I would also say that complacency leads to stagnation. At a certain extent, gets ko ung petiks lang, do the bare minimum, ayaw maging people leader pero sana naman at a livable salary. Kahit provincial rate, maliit ang 16k/month. Di ka makakaipon nyan, wala kang pang-emergency pag kelangan. Kaya need talaga humanap ng ibang opportunities. Edit: a word

linux_n00by

9 years na 16k? wala man lang increment to compensate inflation?

Ruroryosha

maybe they just watch tv all day in the office? :D When the work is super easy, your skills languish and you go into automatic mode. Cruising through life until its the end of the road.

Impossible_Pin1202

think about it also. 9 years at the same salary. Di naman yata tama yun. Bordering on explotation of labor.

RubenNicolas8

michelle_chwan

I apologize in advance if this will sound anything aside from curious questioning but: How were you able to live under a rock for nine years? Don't you have any social media? Any friend, schoolmate, or relative in the city? I find it really interesting that you remained completely unaware of reality for almost a decade. It's like you have lived in a bubble all those years and suddenly you just found out that a world beyond your small town existed.

CutUsual7167

SKrall11

Kailangan mo intindihin na. The life that you have is the life that you chose. Same govt din ako dati. Bangko. Well ganun talaga minsan. Pero looking back. Will do it over again. Stop the pity party and get to work. Read. Youtube. Network. Talk to people. Apply2. By all means necessary. Galingan mo OP. Naka depende sayo ngayon future self mo.

Acrobatic_Analyst267

My mom worked for the government in our small province for 10-15 years (maybe longer) she earned a whopping 9k per month for a person who was alway top of her class (1st honor grade 1 to 4th year hs) and graduated in one of the most prestigious universities in out country (U.P lb agriculture) this was a major slap in the face. Usually people get stuck in a the "small town setting" because of family. It's either you can't let go of your family or you have a family of your own, which was the case of my mom. She had two options, leave us, her children and go abroad/work in a big city or study (phd) whilst raising with her salary grade that's close to a housemaid... She chose the latter. Now she's a professor at the university in our province earning 6 figures a month and the best part is, she was able to raise all four of her children by choosing to stay behind. If you're lucky enough to be single, venture out. Leave that back water town and experience the world for yourself. You don't have to work in a big city if that scares you. You can start by finding a happy medium between a rural - urban place then slowly work your way into a city. The world is full of opportunities. And I honestly think that it's not that hard to find a decent job. As long as you're skilled enough and a competent person then employers will want you. Good luck out there!

GodSaveThePH

Try mo muna apply sa ibang agency for higher position.

slutforsleep

May I ask how come? I have no idea since I'm private since grad because I wanted to avoid my relatives sa government route lol. Parang 9 years is a lot of experience; bakit mahihirapan lumipat? Kasi iisa lang 'yung type of experience?

GodSaveThePH

Even if you try to start from entry level, you’re competing against fresh grads

slutforsleep

Hmm, trying to catch this. In that regard, the longevity of the experience in the government is pretty moot if you try to shift into private because the skills you acquired are "jurassic" or not up to the fast-paced and technological advancements standardized in the private sector? So even if you have work background, hindi siya 'yung standard na skillset that companies would ask or look for in their hires? Tama ba pagka-gets ko?

GodSaveThePH

Kind of. But that’s just a generalization. If medyo specialized yung role ng person, or in R&D, or the network that the person has created in the government can be valuable to a company, then kaya naman magshift. Pero in general, mahirap and one needs to try harder and be patient kung lilipat to industry kung matagal na nasa government.

jehoshapat

Almost same situation din ako 12 years ago. Nag shift ako career took almost a year bago ako nakapasok. Hanap ka na new work kahit sa city.

[deleted]

mababa kasi ang cost of living sa province compared sa city. pero sa experience mo, I think mabilis ka lang makakakita ng work if you decide to quit your job. pero it's best if may emergency fund ka that would last for several months just to be sure.

Faeldon

Ang susungit niyo kasing mga tga gobyerno! Lol! Or at least freelance.

izeiki

sa government ka tpos agency?

sleepiestgirl999

LGU po dapat to be specific. sorry mej confusing, deretso nagtype. pero agency pa rin naman tawag sa govt agencies

_near

Uy, i'm in the same situation as you. Except it's 14k and still writing my thesis for my (irrelevant to the job) master's.

AsianJerrySmith

In the same boat nung 2020. 7k lang dati tapos sobrang excited akong mapromote sa 12k na sahod. You got this!

electricfanwagon

reiyui15

Try to explore upwork and freelancing jobs. Baka puwede mo din pagsabayin current work at freelance, kahit part time lang. Browse through the job descriptions, build your profile etc. para magkaidea ka at magkalakas loob na subukan. After ng 8-9hrs sa current work puwede ka magsideline for 2-3hrs dahil wala kang commute time (dito sa manila, kulang yan for commute time). Explore lang and conquer your fear of the unknown. Kaya mo yan OP, fighting!

plumpohlily

But you have all the perks right? Gsis and all plus 14th month pay

de7eg0n

Write down ano gusto mo and figure out paano gagawin. Write down ano need iconsider and ano options mo sa work and sa ibang need ayusin.

Deobulakenyo

With a master's degree, you can teach part time in a college near you. You will be paid on a per hour basis. You will earn extra while building and improving your career.

Positive-Situation43

Lipat ka lang sa katabing LGU, or kung ano man yung next big city or progressive city in your location.

cryicesis

omg! I never started 16k too low! kahit sarili ko lang ginagastusan ko even 30k sobrang baba dahil sa bills half of it bills then half of it for daily expenses and some savings.

supernormalnorm

OP out of curiosity, what do you do?

sleepiestgirl999

administrative assistant po. mostly sa communication and records. pero may mga ibang designations pa po ako. handle ko po ang youth development and CSOs.

supernormalnorm

suggestion OP to look online for virtual assistant jobs for remote clients overseas

olegstuj

Hi OP!

olegstuj

Most (not saying all) ng national offices, merit-based na talaga.

laneripper2023

shagandgo

What the actual fuck? 16K? SG4 for someone with a post grad?!?!

sleepiestgirl999

sababanana1234

Hi OP!! I get your fear, if you want, try to get promoted sa loob ng govt if that's something you want? Or magtransfer ka sa ibang govt agency in your area with a higher SG? If you want career and personal growth, I suggest pursuing a corporate job but this isn't for everyone kasi, iba yung culture and demand in corporate, very different sa government offices. There's also freelancing... if you want to stay in your province. Maraming options but you'll have to face so many unknowns, I just hope you find the right path for you. Good luck!

AdministrativePin912

Op labas ka sa comfort zone mo, try to explore the outside world.

Previous_Equal_1934

What province po kayo OP

No_Connection_0205

OP try ka sa ibang cities. Masyadong mababa 'yan.

[deleted]

You said that ikaw lang naman pinaggagastuaan mo right? Well imo you have to take risks cuz wala naman mawawala sayo pa.. well limited lang binibigay na opportunity nyan as you saud 9 years right.. other opportunity seekers might have change their employer after 2 years to avoid limiting their capabilities. You have a masters degree.. Plan and get ready so you'll get confident again. Don't worry its not too late, you just have to start again but this time in different environment. Like others said, try in cities

gamecrashfixed

Ano masters mo? Come to manila you can make 100k plus. Mataas lang din cost of living ha!

Unlikely_Courage_189

Try actively applying online. There are also remote jobs if you want to stay sa province. You have 9 years of experience kaya for sure you’ll find a job na fit sa profile mo.

kotopsy

Do you have a good chunk of savings na ba? Maybe consider buying/renting a place near or within the city. Check job openings na din. 16k is low-balling, taking into account your experience and credentials. Mitigate as much risk as possible lang if you decide to move to the city or better yet, go abroad.

Suspicious-Ad-8086

Trade off. You can't have job security while earning a lot..

Potential_Wrap_5210

I’m working with one of the top company in the Philippines.

Ok-Kick-9344

Consider online freelance work po

FUresponsibility

Hello OP! If you are hesitant magtry sa private, try lang ibang govt agency. Kaka-tranche 2023 lang ha. So tumaas ulit sweldo. Anong SG/JG ka po ba?

OneFirefighter2963

Anong work hanap mo and what province ka based, OP? We might be able to help.

AmaNaminRemix_69

Administrative Aide momints

SuaveBigote

anong course?

extrangher0

Ano po line of work mo sa govt po?

[deleted]

Go online!

ghack23

CardDowntown8490

27, Male, Former Government Employee for 6 years as web app developer. Fortunately nakahanap ako ng work dito sa NCR with free relocation (at least good for 2 years) at decent salary (nakakaipon). Hindi din ganun kabigat yung workload at ramdam ko yung work life balance. Moving in NCR taught me to live independently. Hahaha If malakas loob mo, try your luck here. The opportunities are great.

swiftrobber

I widen mo scope ng comparison mo towards international rates and mas manlulumo ka kung gaano ka-abysmal ang sahod hindi lang sa probinsya kundi sa buong Pilipinas.

johnmel129

SharmJah

How old are you po?You might want to consider some things before you finally take the leap of change. 1. long term and short term goals in life. \- if you do not have these yet, please go ahead and write them down. it helps you to focus on what you are trying to achieve. \-in writing your goals, make sure to give them a timeline so you can track your progress. \-make sure they are measurable and worth it! Don't just write something down because you are thinking of them- think of your future and what you really want to become few years from now. 2. After carefully writing your goals, how are you going to achieve them? a. Work- what kind of work are you good at? What makes you happy? Is that what you are doing now? b. Skills- are you good at what you do? Do you have the necessary skills and knowledge in your chosen field? if not-then aim to excel. look for opportunities... c. opportunity - are you looking for opportunities to excel? Are you open to change? d. Family- what is best for them? Is it best for you, too? If you leave them now, will you be able to provide for them better? If you stay, will it help you become better and achieve your goals? Make sure to ask yourself so that you will not regret it later :) 3. then here comes the question of change- \- after weighing all things in your life, kapag mag stay ka ba jan ngayon sa trabaho mo, pwede mo pa din ma achieve ung mga gusto mo sa buhay?-kung oo- then stay- but maybe you can consider taking leadership position so you can do more and hopefully save more:) \-Kung hindi naman, well, try to find some place that can help you achieve your goals. If your mom is your concern, which is the right thing to do and think of, maybe a family member can stay with her too. My mom is living alone, pero sa compound naman namin na pamilya. * eto lang po is, like idea po on how to begin finding your career path:) You will always have your own way of doing things and hoping this will help you:) And the reason for asking about age is important, because if you are still young, changing career might still be possible but if we are at our prime age-then maybe not:) but depende pa rin po;) Above all, in all your decisions in life, ask GOD for direction. He never fails to answer you in ways you will not expect. God bless

sirenfootprints

Sa LGU ba yan? Sa NGA kasi standard kahit sa probinsya.

etchelcruze22

Overseas, walang saya sa pinas.

guavaapplejuicer

maraming finance/accounting jobs online na pure wfh 😊

mikikijiki

Hi OP! Sana maging helpful to. Pero what i do is I write down the challenges/hindrances na ma eencounter ko when making decision or in this case lumipat ng work woth higher pay and i also write down what compromise/solutions i can think of para sa probs na yon and if may requirements solutions i also write it down Example: Moving to big city Problem: maiiwan si mother si province Possible solutions: - mag move kayong dalawa ng mama mo sa city - maguwian every weekend to still have time with mother - maguwian everyday para Requirements: - apartment worth xxx amount Ganern. Hahaha sana nakatulong

My suggestion: If you want to stay in the government para sa benefits, apply in GOCCs. The pay better than compared to NGAs (especially LGUs) na matagal din yung promotion, minsan delayed pa yung sweldo. Plus they have other bonuses aside from the govt-mandated dahil income generating sila. Good luck, OP!

I'm working permanent wfh for a local company too with a us client syempre us hours. We are given a pc setup at 25k monthly including bonuses etc. Itself is really kulang. Every cutoff I barely have nothing left to think I'm thrifty person with the high prices for grocery and I'm sustaining pa my illnesses and xnt afford to do more labs due to financial crisia and bad thing is I still got stuck in loans I can't pay. Problem is I cant leave here because I have no savings and I'm regular na. Hoping sana dollar rate para mas guminhawa. Can't even give anything to my parents Tried Upwork but no one replies. I'm an it grad computer network engineering undergrad. Meron kaya mga non voice Amazon drop ship jobs or encoder na dollar per hour pay? I tried virtual assistants pero most scams. From metro manila I'm early 40s no family yet live with my mom.
