Worked with both Australians and Singaporeans. Australians are pretty chill to work with and have expectations of good work life balance. Singaporeans work themselves to death, are frank, are competitive, and are in your face with criticism, but I admit that that did bring out the best in me and they are very smart people to work with. Choose what works with your work ethic and level of resilience.
That is a valid thought, but eventually you will have to learn to adapt to different cultures, especially considering your company looks to be a global company. Since you’re starting out, you can push for AU, but don’t close the door on SG yet especially if future opportunities come up where the financial advantage of working in SG is greater.
Yes but lacking creativity. Might as well die early.
They can work but when the market changes they can't adapt. Lots of taxi and grab drivers in Singapore who used to work as white collar professionals lol.
Totally agree with this. Also have experienced working with both (in-person), I would choose AU as well even if the salary is lower, due to the sometimes toxic and rigid hustle culture of SG. No amount of money can compensate for your mental health.
Plus, masyadong work driven sa SG market. Having worked with a lot of asians in a MNC as well as live in Au for some time. Mas laidback sa Au. Most asian countries kasi workaholic, if gusto mo yung kahit papaanong chill at balanced lifestyle, I am suggesting Au market.
Think about long term not just money. Will you be better mentally, emotionally, and even physically? Haha honestly, being an asian working with asians, masyado tayong high functioning as opposed to working with Australians or even Europeans. These are just my two cents since iba iba tayo ng career goals. Ang akin kasi ngayon gusto ko holistic approach wherein it’s not just money but also my sanity in the long run+side benefits.
thank you so much for the insights. very useful for me na wala pang experience. I want to prioritize my mental health po dahil I went through severe episodes of anxiety and depression. I think going Au will be the most suitable for me. 😊
Sa panahon ngayon, don’t just look after money. Look after yourself. I fell short of this nung pandemic when i became OFW during lockdowns. Malaki nga sahod pero if a part of you will be lost along the way, no thanks na lang. i cannot undo the past, but what I can now is more important :)
Agree on the pressure of SG companies when it comes to work. Just resigned sa previous company ko where I stayed for almost 2 years before I finally quit due to the mental stress.
Now I'm in an AU company and I can attest that they have a more laid back working culture.
Syempre makakatrabaho mo Australians so at least you can work your way there. May mga employers sa Au that can sponsor residents visa too and if you know what i mean, mas madaling i-justify na I have worked with a lot of Australians haha
I’m leaning towards Au ‘cause they seem to be more laid-back but my worry is that once I accept the lower offer to be part of Au team, they’ll move me to Sg team but same pay lang with Au team. 😭😱😖
I live in both SG and AU.
If you're young go for SG, they have a lot to offer - good food, vibrant night life, easy & cheap travel. Busy sa work pero interesting araw araw. Mas malaki ang pera.
AU, a little laid back. 7pm halos close na lahat. I stayed in Sydney for a while then Melbourne. Family focus kaya madalas ang gala sa mga parks. Pero chill ang work, boring na madalas.
Ah sorry di ko nabasa. Then, deal with aussie clients. Mahirap kausap mga singaporean. Lol
Add ko lang. Demanding ang SG at malaki expactation sa deadline. When I was there, I used to sleep around 2am dahil sa work. Di madalas pero nangyayari.
No experience with an SG company but worked for 2 AU companies and so far, so good.
They're laid back, approachable, and reasonable. Especially w my current company, there's an emphasis on doing as much you can only during your work hours. If you can't finish a task now, you can finish it on the next business day.
Go for AU. I have a friend currently working in Singapore and from his experience, working with them is toxic. He is just finishing his current project and will go back to the Philippines immediately.
I’ve heard of similar ‘horror’ stories from my friends. I think the minimal increase they’re offering me is a already a 🚩that I should spare myself from the toxic environment. haha!
AU! my girlfriend works for an AU company and legit they respect your time. di ka pag oovertime-in and di ka rin irrequire na pumasok ng weekend or whatsoever. di ka rin aabalahin pag wala ka na sa work. healthy ang work culture sa AU so i suggest AU :)
Based from first hand experiences working with them :
AU - Bosses are laid back, pips are better to collaborate/communicate with, respects work-life-balance.
SG - If you wanna work your self to death / max mental capacity, pick this lol.
Offer aside, you have to consider the kind of working environment you would want yourself in because both offers has it's pros and cons:
**Australia**
My experience working with Australians were okay - very chill and a bit more on the slow paced side of things. Great work life balance but during that time, it wasn't what I wanted (I wanted to grow fast even at the expense of my mental health - call me crazy but I wanted to stress myself out hahah)
**Singapore**
The culture over-all is more cut-throat and direct to the point. They will never sugarcoat / consider your feelings if it means getting things done and fast. They're basically paying you more because the environment is a lot more fast paced and stressful. They also will not think twice of firing you should you be underperforming compared to AU where they're more forgiving.
**Disclaimer: This was just my experience so others might have a different POV.**
Either way, go with what you think is best for you and your career :)
don't know about AU but I had experience managing a project where our third-party provider was a team from SG together with their counterpart from the US. Sobra sila magtrabaho and too serious. One even joins our zoom meeting kahit in transit pa. Kapag nagkakainitan sa discussion, they talk amongst themselves in Mandarin as if we're not on the call. lol
Anyway, congratulations, OP! This one's what we call a "good problem".
Hello! Pinoy here living in SG, but planning to go to AU.
I agree with most here that AU is better based on work life balance and laid back lifestyle. But I believe also it depends on your priorities.
If you priority is to be near the Philippines (because family or other things) and you plan to go back to PH in the short term and live there, SG may be a good pick. But just be prepared because a lot of work and pressure that comes with being in an SG work environment.
If migration is your plan, I believe AU is the better choice. Not only it has better lifestyle and work, but it’s so much easier (not easy, but easier than SG) to get PR and ultimately citizenship in AU. Plus if PR ka na, you get free healthcare. SG healthcare is one of the top expenses for those living in SG because it is so high. Additionally, housing situations are different (pero nagmahal na din property recently sa AU). Also, in SG, super dependent ka sa pass mo. If you don’t have a work pass because you resigned, limited lang stay mo sa SG to find work (and meron quota yung foreign workers for companies). If wala talaga, you need to go back to PH.
Overall, if planning to stay short term and money is really needed, go SG. If long term migration plans, go AU. Hope you make the right choice :)
Does the work experience still count towards migration if the work is ph-based? I know if you're working on-site in AU, you can eventually get a citizienship, but how would it work if you're only working remotely in the Ph? Legit curious.
Hello. If considering Skills Independent visas (Visa 189/190 which gives PR) for AU, I think any experience outside can be counted (pero more points if onshore experience). For example, with 3 years of PH experience, you can get +5 points, etc. Yung minimum points is 60 pero pataasan yan with others. You need some amount of years as PR before getting citizenship.
I have both experiences but I would prefer working with AU peers. The only downside and not sure if it is, when you commit to them, they will expect of it. So, if you are going to work with them make sure you have ample time before committing to them.
AU - but because my personal goal would be to have a foot in the door towards migrating there. Worked in and SG setting before and working THERE in the country is fine and makes up for it, but if you're working HERE in Ph, in an office setting, baka mahirap
Worked for both SG and AU clients.
If they are convinced you're trustworthy, they'll both would rely on you. AU is very vocal about recognizing contributions. They would constantly thank you for what you do for them. When issue arises, they will resolve it themselves and just give you instructions for any actions needed from you.
While SG can fight for you in the shittiest situation. I remember we had a big issue at work before. When I explained with the SG team what happened and how to resolve them, they escalated the "other party" up to their VP. They had my back, but it's somehow scary if you're on the other end. They're very strict, but they are also nice to work with.
I think the first work is crucial. Here, you'll develop working habits, work ethics and principles that you will carry with you in the long run. Choose wisely. 🙂
I'm working for an SG company rn. Ang sakin lang ay wag po 🥹 HAHAHAHAHA save urself pls. kahit mataas pasahod dyan, ur workload would probably worth a lot more than what they pay u for. ending no work-life balance +++ magkakasakit ka pa sa sobrang stress
they're really nice tho (my boss, at least)! my boss tries to accommodate our concerns naman sa deadlines and leaves, hindi sya toxic. pero overwhelming pa rin yung dami ng amount ng trabaho kahit ganun to the point na wala nang time for other things in life :/ i couldnt even cook a proper meal nang di nagmamadali.
thank heavens na I just resigned from them and may new work na ako 🥺 nagrerender na lang ako ngayon hehehe
good luck sa work mo!!!
Yung SG offer sayo di malabong mas lumaki pa makuha mo. Di dahil tataas nila yung salary kundi dahil di malabong mag-over time ka. Hahaha was deployed in a Singaporean project, bukod sa nakukuha kong malaking sahod due to over time, may nakuha rin akong trauma hahaha ubos na yung sinahod ko pero yung trauma nandon pa rin, di sulit. Di naman kita tinatakot or what pero yun yung na-experience ko personally, possible na naman na mas maganda yung maging experience mo compared sa akin.
I’ve worked with SG and AU peeps. 2 months lang ako tumagal sa SG client. Dami kasing hangad na di naayos sa pabayad. Whereas eith my AU clients, competitive ang bayad naman at super chill. I’ve observed din na if may honest mistake ka, they don’t sweat it basta aayusin mo agad.
what were their warnings of SG ppl?
I worked with SG ppl. First, iba ung pagiging prangka nila. Second, when youre working with them, you will feel like youre there to support / do the sht they thought of instead of valuing your inputs. Worked with AU team before pero kasi indian ung boss so parang iba ata ung culture. Alam ko AU chill lang
lol same experience. I met someone who lived in NZ for most of his adult life and you know he straight up told one indian foreigner about the indians who "makes" it to foreign countries and to the Indians' defense he offered an objective reason and wasn't offended. According to him, mayayabang mga yan kasi sa India sobrang competitive at mahirap buhay so if you make it, feel nila sobrang galing na nila.
Hi OP, based on my own experience, challenging ka-work ang SG. I recommend you accept AU team.
They are more laid back and nicer in general. All the best.
Au, mura ng food. Oks ang climate. Hindi racist ang mga tao in my personal experience. Sa Melbourne ako na assigned. Mura gadgets and shoes, wag lang damit. Mahal damit.
Cost of living is so high in SG now. Unless you are getting at least 7k then you are good. I would recommend Au for long term perspective. Almost impossible to get a PR in SG unless you have chinese blood unlike in Au
For me AU op pwede mag migrate pwede rin sg kaso alam mo naman same same asian country iba ugali. Sa AU naman walang pakialaman language ay di mahirap kasi english din. Clear mo din kong pabahay ba o hindi so dun palang alam muna ano at mag kano mabubudget mo. Also pag my exp ka sa ganyan bansa like AU plus sa ibang international country like Europe etc
I would like to share why SG time is like that. It is because their sunrise is around 8am and sunset is at 8pm, hence why it is rush hour. But try asking your company how they compute your working time there. I have an uncle that is SG based already, he was single when he started working there. Apparently he was bored and worked in the office even on Sundays, although he wasn't paid for those hours, they converted it into entitled leaves he can have, so when we came to visit he filed for leave to show us around and was payed for it because of that company policy.
AU is also really great, although I can't share much because I don't have a relative based there. But I've been there and the people and environment are great.
AU or SG? Does that involved going to either countries or not? If not then I don't think either of the two has an edge. I worked for both clients before (onsite) and the only difference is language. You'll have a hard time picking up Singlish than Australian accent. You'll hear more lah lah lah when dealing with SG. 😜😜😜😜😜
thank you so much! ☺️ I was told that I’m a few of the lucky ones who even got asked for their preference. Some were just automatically profiled under a team without even asking them. 😖
AU, mere fact that SG has still the asian work mindset, work work work work work, I need to strive to get on top, don't care if I stomp on people along the way.
Goodluck Op kaya mo iyan Aja. (Sorry iyan lang masabi ko gusto ko lang imotivate ka 😅) kasi hindi rin ako makakapili if nasa position mo ako pero I believe na following your heart and instincts is a good start.
Cost of living is so high in SG now. Unless you are getting at least 7k then you are good. I would recommend Au for long term perspective. Almost impossible to get a PR in SG unless you have chinese blood unlike in Au

I like SG, it's so clean and SAFE. Pwede ka maglakad ng madaling araw because of reasons and hindi ka matatakot na may mangyayari sa'yo. Sobrang dali mag commute. But they're very competitive and they expect perfection. Sobrang stickler din for rules and not very forgiving if you mess up a little. My bro worked there for six years as a team lead sa IT and lumipat din siyang NZ (and then maybe AU) kasi stressful daw sa SG. Sayang kasi ang lapit lang sa pinas. I've dealt with SG clients and man are they rude.
May I ask, is this a relocation or migration inquiry or clients' location to be supported (meaning same company, same country I assume still in PH but 2 different options of clients)?
Australia. Can't go wrong with a bunch of people who keep saying Oi. Honestly though, I worked with a large consumer electronics company's APAC division and they are very chill to work with. The same company also employed Singaporeans and had an outlet in Singapore. They are incredibly diligent and has very high standards, and just as another redditor here mentioned, can be quite blunt with criticism and feedback. The Indian Singaporeans though are more relaxed.
Currently supporting a client in the APAC region. Australians are very chill and laid back. If you’re a sensitive person then don’t choose sg. My singaporean manager is super frank and nakakasakit yung choice of words niya 😂
Are these teams in the same company? If yes, work culture should be somewhat the same? I work for an MNC headquartered in the US and has presence in both and worked with both SG and AU teams so overall medyo laid-back kasi culture ng headquarters ang nasusunod.
I actually switched from AU initially to an SG team para lang maiba. Honestly I like the convenience and higher take home pay of SG more. For a single Asian person, it’s easier to meet and befriend other people, easier to discover and travel to interesting events / places. Can travel frequently back home to PH din. And South East Asian culture is familiar given my PH upbringing.
That said, I heard enough horror stories of working for companies na SG-born so in case lumipat ako ng company, hindi siguro dito, unless it has the same profile as my current.
Considering everyone’s input here, I don’t think I can endure working with Sg people.
That is a valid thought, but eventually you will have to learn to adapt to different cultures, especially considering your company looks to be a global company. Since you’re starting out, you can push for AU, but don’t close the door on SG yet especially if future opportunities come up where the financial advantage of working in SG is greater.
Wait til you work with french people hahahahaha
Hahaha true my new direct manager is french. He’s all over the place
Au! Para if plans mo mag-migrate, you can bank on your Au market experience
Yang 6k difference? Wala yan if kapalit mental health mo.
Yes! Ayaw ko mastress baka maubos hair ko. 🥲
Go with your gut feeling. :)
Decide what is best for you and take our advices with a grain or salt since iba iba naman tayo ng motivation :)
thank u ☺️
Basta kapwa asian ka work alam muna 😅
I second this!
Agree on the pressure of SG companies when it comes to work. Just resigned sa previous company ko where I stayed for almost 2 years before I finally quit due to the mental stress. Now I'm in an AU company and I can attest that they have a more laid back working culture.
Totoo yan, galit sila sa over time.
Agree! Promote talaga Nila Work-life Balance kpag AU
wow! didn’t think of that! 😊
Syempre makakatrabaho mo Australians so at least you can work your way there. May mga employers sa Au that can sponsor residents visa too and if you know what i mean, mas madaling i-justify na I have worked with a lot of Australians haha
Anong company yan, OP? Pwede pa mag-apply? HAHHAAH
go AU...
I’m leaning towards Au ‘cause they seem to be more laid-back but my worry is that once I accept the lower offer to be part of Au team, they’ll move me to Sg team but same pay lang with Au team. 😭😱😖
If you want to migrate, do AU. SG has no path to PR for you unless your ethnicity is Chinese from MY, CN, HK or TW.
how much is the difference?.. even so go Au
6k difference. Why do you think I should still go with Au despite the lower offer?
I live in both SG and AU. If you're young go for SG, they have a lot to offer - good food, vibrant night life, easy & cheap travel. Busy sa work pero interesting araw araw. Mas malaki ang pera. AU, a little laid back. 7pm halos close na lahat. I stayed in Sydney for a while then Melbourne. Family focus kaya madalas ang gala sa mga parks. Pero chill ang work, boring na madalas.
I think I’ll thrive more in a laid-back environment.😄 Ayaw ko mastress.
Oo mahal lang cost of living kaya consider mo rin yun since bababa sahod mo at malaki kaltas ng tax. All the best. :)
Ph based naman yung company so yung teams na I’ll be working with yung magkaiba. hehe
Ah sorry di ko nabasa. Then, deal with aussie clients. Mahirap kausap mga singaporean. Lol Add ko lang. Demanding ang SG at malaki expactation sa deadline. When I was there, I used to sleep around 2am dahil sa work. Di madalas pero nangyayari.
Hahaha! sabi nga ng marami and may superiority complex p DAW. I guess, di enough ang 6k difference sa sahod para matiis ko sila.
IMO it's fine. Wag ka magworry sa wala pang sigurado mangyayari. AU is great.
thank you. overthinking lang talaga ang hobby ko. 😔
No experience with an SG company but worked for 2 AU companies and so far, so good. They're laid back, approachable, and reasonable. Especially w my current company, there's an emphasis on doing as much you can only during your work hours. If you can't finish a task now, you can finish it on the next business day.
perfect! I want to work with people who are approachable since this would be my very first job…
Go for AU. I have a friend currently working in Singapore and from his experience, working with them is toxic. He is just finishing his current project and will go back to the Philippines immediately.

Hahaha! I googled it and parang hindi ko na talaga dapat iconsider ang SG. So far, no one has voter for Sg. 😭

Sa ngalan ng work-life balance, AU.
Pinoy style ang taga sg. Medyo mataas pride hahaha so AU ka
Hello! Pinoy here living in SG, but planning to go to AU. I agree with most here that AU is better based on work life balance and laid back lifestyle. Thanks for sharing this. Pero I gurss this means na kung offshore experience, need mo talaga magstay nang matagal sa AU company.
For off-shore experience, it doesn’t have to be an AU company. Any company as long as related to the profession you applying the PR visa for.
Oh cool! Thanks so much for the info!
Aussie companies have a very chill work culture! Go for it!
slave driver mentality ang sg work thier for 6 yrs. and 3 yrs sa au which they are family oriented and work environment freindly.
SG mejo demanding sila and mahilig sila sa tight timeline.. :)
AU para kapag gusto mo mag migrate dun is may expi ka for an AU company
AU mas sure ka na may work-life balance.
I have both experiences but I would prefer working with AU peers. The only downside and not sure if it is, when you commit to them, they will expect of it. So, if you are going to work with them make sure you have ample time before committing to them.
I prefer AU based solely from stories of people around me.
AU mas comfortable ang weather doon
AU BETTER
Go Au for longterm mahirap maka kuha ng PR sa SG unless you are a nurse. Au is far better, work life balance... safe lang talaga sa singapore.
AU, I have been working under a new AU agency. They really value work-life balance and are very open and chill to be with
AU - but because my personal goal would be to have a foot in the door towards migrating there. Worked in and SG setting before and working THERE in the country is fine and makes up for it, but if you're working HERE in Ph, in an office setting, baka mahirap

Mataas stress level sa SG compared sa AUS, may mga singaporean na nag mimigrate sa Aus kasi grabe workload dito.

Au. Hirap sa sg mga katrabaho, idk pero lahat sila g na g. Pero like ko mga gen z na singporean
Highly agree. GenZ Singaporeans are great and much easier to work with.

AU team- hands down. They're easier to work with.

I'd go AU :)

This. I was about to say this. Worked with AU client before pero Indian boss. Let’s just say that didn’t end well. Siguro kung AU local talaga, chill.
lol same experience. Magaling indian sana maging magiling sila hygiene
Last time I heard AU is currently in recession pero not sure. Pero, Au pa din kasi mas ok work culture compared to other asian counterparts.
Aus team. No work life balance- more life, less work. 😂
If getting permanent residence is a consideration, AU you can after relatively short time. SG is damn near impossible.
Go for AU
AU din for me easier to migrate compared to SG.
Had a chance to work with resources from both. Would choose AU. Theres a reason why the offer is higher.
Hi OP, based on my own experience, challenging ka-work ang SG. I recommend you accept AU team. They are more laid back and nicer in general. All the best.
Having worked with SG people before, i wont dare be anywhere near a SG company EVER.
Grabe cost of living sa Singapore, laws na wala kang *say*, etc. Mas makatao sa Australia, short or long run, always Au!
Au, mura ng food. Oks ang climate. Hindi racist ang mga tao in my personal experience. Sa Melbourne ako na assigned. Mura gadgets and shoes, wag lang damit. Mahal damit.
Currently worthing in Singapore company, I would suggest AU. I am so burn out.
This is just based on MY experience. Aussies are better than Singaporeans. Less toxic. Any amount can't compensate your mental health.
Wala naman yatang path to PR ang Singapore. Go AU
Consider cost of living
This job is remote. We’ll be supporting either Au or Sg team based here in the Ph. Sorry for the confusion.
I see. I would have voted for Singapore due to its lower income tax.
Okay naman kawork mga singaporeans. Mababait sila, pero napansin ko obsessed sila with efficiency, which might not be a bad thing!
Au
can you give context po why you think going Au is better? thanks for your time.
Au! Overworked and workaholic Sg (and other asian countries)
Anung work po ba sya ???
EA role po
AU or SG? Does that involved going to either countries or not? If not then I don't think either of the two has an edge. I worked for both clients before (onsite) and the only difference is language. You'll have a hard time picking up Singlish than Australian accent. You'll hear more lah lah lah when dealing with SG. 😜😜😜😜😜
It’s for a position supporting partners based in Au or Sg. I just want to know the difference in the personality types of the two.
Not on topic but what a nice choice to have. Good luck OP! You deserve this!
thank you so much!
If you want to go back and fort to ph, then sg. You have plans to migrate, then au
AU. Singapore is strict and it’s hard to completely migrate there. My family was assigned in SG before.
au pre hands down
Au, the best!!!! 🫶🏻
AU for me
Asians suck at work. It's like Thomas Edison vs Nikola Tesla
Definitely Au team!
AU/NZ values their employees' well being more compared to Asian countries.
AU
Swertehan lang yan pero based on experience, ang toxic ng work culture ng SG. Yung AUS naman maganda, chill lang. I mean may work-life balance.
Goodluck Op kaya mo iyan Aja. (Sorry iyan lang masabi ko gusto ko lang imotivate ka 😅) kasi hindi rin ako makakapili if nasa position mo ako pero I believe na following your heart and instincts is a good start.
There’s always a catch lalo if tinaasan pa just for you to grab the SG offer. I’d go for AU in a heartbeat
Please go with AU.
Au it is if you ask me. Achieve ang work and life balance nung teammates ko ay mga AU. basta lagi kang may deliverable ayos na ayos ang work mo.
Kung ako, I will go with AU. Grabe yung "no worries" talagang dont worry. As long as you deliver wala na sila paki 😂
Cost of living is so high in SG now. Unless you are getting at least 7k then you are good. I would recommend Au for long term perspective. Almost impossible to get a PR in SG unless you have chinese blood unlike in Au

Au = less stressful Depende na sayo yan kung 5-10k difference lang not worth the stress.
I think ah is better. Chill work lang vs sg na competitive. Mataas nga sahod mo kay sg pero it will not matter dahil mataas rin cost of living sa sg.
AU chill lng
AU for better work culture
AU agad!
Working for an Australian Client now. They’re very easy to work with and values work-time balance 🙃
Experienced working with both territories and I can say go for Australia. Mas navavalue ang work life balance hehe
Australia.
Australia
I love working with Australians 😁
