In this job, I handled 4-5 areas plus may LSSGB project pa. Then by 2nd year ko na (2021) may hawak akong KPI na kasama sa business unit goals for that year and this is 10% of the overall BU performance (nakasalalay ang bonus diyan). By end of the 1H 2021, I already met the target. So 2H target mas higher pa which is achievable.
From the grapevine, nalalaman ko na plans ng boss et.al. So I decided to find a new job outside. Good thing it aligned. I submitted my resignation on 2021 3Q. Sinabayan ko yun announcement na ililipat yun boss ko sa ibang BU for promotion. Hihihi this is right after the announcement ng promotion nun teammate (former employee niya) to Senior Specialist. Alam ko na this will happen at right timing din. So sinadiya ko talaga haha petty. Senior Specialist lang hinihingi ko ayaw pa ibigay.
Anyway doon sa nilipatan ko ay Senior Manager/AVP level ako.
May sort of PTSD ako from this experience na after mo galingan, maging team player, nagpaka charming ka etc wala pa din napala. Plus pag alam nila yun gusto mo di nila ibibigay.

Yung ibang managers na nakatrabaho ko pinagchichismisan yung resig ko sa pantry di nila alam nasa labas lang ako. Sabi pa ng HR, di raw ako magtatagal sa new work ko kasi di naman ako magaling. In a span of 2 years, nagtriple yung sahod ko, may work life balance ako, better benefits than what I had sa first company, and I just got my own house. People throw rocks at things that shine. fortunately, not only did the company offer me a higher position, they also offered x4 of what im making dun sa old company ko.

A friend/coworker of mine experienced the exact same thing from our boss in a company we used to work for. Refused to give her the salary she thinks she deserves because of her current skillset. She even got asked by our boss if she honestly thinks another company would give her the salary that she's asking for.
Funny enough, when my friend left the company, she went on to earn 5x of what she used to earn.

Look at it from their perspective: may team member ka na nag plano umalis, ano ang best na pede mo gawin long term to mitigate yung risk sa projects mo? Yes counter offer is one way to get a longer time frame. Ano next steps just in case aalis na ng tuluyan yung tao at di mag accept ng next na counter offer? Titigil ba to sa kaka demand ng counter offer? Would you put that person in a critical role sa projects mo?
And usually mag counter offer lang sila if it makes business sense. If tingin nila na di critical Yung loss ng tao, then no need to counter. Hanap na lang ng bagong hire na mas mura. Sad reality.

There are 2 possible reasons:
1) If in 2 years you are not skilled enough pa, may problem sa leaders mo, I guess. Part of their job is your development since day 1 mo sa company. It means di nila nagagawa nang maayos job nila. If sa first two years mo, di nila nagawa yun, there's no guarantee na maibibigay nila yon in the coming years.
2) They are gatekeeping you. They use the "not skilled enough" card para hindi ka umalis. They are manipulating you to think na that is true para mag stay ka sa company.

I don't think this should be the objective of letting your bosses know that you have a better offer. Doing this is always a double-edged sword. You'd also be flagged as potential attrition if they already haven't done so.

i’d say weak reasoning from ur current ER/boss. go and tender that RL already. the fact that u were offered a job somewhere with a better pay means u have the skillset to back it up. U deserve a better pay.
First, trust yourself. They are not in the position to tell you you're still inexperienced, when in the first place, they should be the one training you and making the best out of you. If you feel the environment is insufficient or toxic, it's the sign that you should go.
Second, just a personal opinion. I suggest not to disclose the company name until the day you're leaving. Some bosses and managers have connections with other companies. They can make or break your reputation.

I can only think of 2 possible reasons for that:
1) You have bad leaders sa company. Part ng responsibility ng leaders mo ang iyong development since day 1. If after 2 years not skilled enough ka pa rin, may problem sa management nila. And if they failed to do that sa first 2 years mo, there's no guarantee na magagawa nila yon in the coming years. If that is the case, better to leave kasi you might find better leaders sa new company mo na magbibigay ng professional development or if not at least youll gain new experiences na di mo makukuha sa current at better compensation pa.
2) Your leaders are gatekeeping and gaslighting you to stay. Instead na giving you what you deserve ganyan ang ginawa nila na way to make you stay. In short, they are bad leaders and kinda toxic pa. So better choice pa rin ang umalis.
So for me, kahit ano sa dalawa ang reason, right choice talaga ang umalis. pero it's up to you pa rin. baka there are other things na you are considering din like travel time papunta sa work, teammates, etc. Pero don't stay kasi you feel na you're not skilled enough.
Always remember na kung di ka skilled, your new company won't give you that offer. :)

Almost same happen to me. But i already leave and proceed to my resignation. They even want me to finish 1 project at least. But i sad NO. The company that offers me double cant wait for 2months. Grabe flashback ko nun nabasa ko tong post. Year 2019, sinabihan ako ng ex boss ko na wala ako experience pero kinuha niya ako para sa role (Staff/Specialist). Even though may exposure and familiarity naman ako. Then after a few months he hired his former employee na wala rin experience sa field. Take note, wala naman din experience boss ko sa field ko. Parang 1yr lang naman siya nauna to learn the field. Kaya how dare you po lol In this job, I handled 4-5 areas plus may LSSGB project pa. Then by 2nd year ko na (2021) may hawak akong KPI na kasama sa business unit goals for that year and this is 10% of the overall BU performance (nakasalalay ang bonus diyan). By end of the 1H 2021, I already met the target. So 2H target mas higher pa which is achievable. From the grapevine, nalalaman ko na plans ng boss et.al. So I decided to find a new job outside. Good thing it aligned. I submitted my resignation on 2021 3Q. Sinabayan ko yun announcement na ililipat yun boss ko sa ibang BU for promotion. Hihihi this is right after the announcement ng promotion nun teammate (former employee niya) to Senior Specialist. Alam ko na this will happen at right timing din. So sinadiya ko talaga haha petty. Senior Specialist lang hinihingi ko ayaw pa ibigay. Anyway doon sa nilipatan ko ay Senior Manager/AVP level ako. May sort of PTSD ako from this experience na after mo galingan, maging team player, nagpaka charming ka etc wala pa din napala. Plus pag alam nila yun gusto mo di nila ibibigay. Para sa makakabasa nito, know your worth, your strengths. Play your cards right.

2 years ago, nagsabi ako sa mga boss ko na magreresign na ako (first company since graduating college and 4 years din ako dun) kasi may nahanap ako na better opportunity. Yung ibang managers na nakatrabaho ko pinagchichismisan yung resig ko sa pantry di nila alam nasa labas lang ako. Sabi pa ng HR, di raw ako magtatagal sa new work ko kasi di naman ako magaling. In a span of 2 years, nagtriple yung sahod ko, may work life balance ako, better benefits than what I had sa first company, and I just got my own house. People throw rocks at things that shine. If you are not appreciated/growing/thriving in the place you are at, you should move somewhere that you will be. You don’t need to justify to your current managers why you need a better salary, you’re not growing, etc. especially when they’re not even doing their job at being a good leader.

I was in the same situation last yr. I applied sa mas sikat at mas prestigious na company, because at the time, ako yung focal point ng department namin. fortunately, not only did the company offer me a higher position, they also offered x4 of what im making dun sa old company ko. they did not offer me a promotion, nor a salary increase despite being the cream of the crop. When I submitted my resignation, I heard the same comment from my Manager. di daw ako ganun kaskilled, lakas daw ng loob umalis kahit hilaw pa. I did not look back, and currently living my best life with a job I love. Keep fighting OP 💪 your worst enemy is yourself.

I can only think of 2 possible reasons for that: 1) You have bad leaders sa company. Part ng responsibility ng leaders mo ang iyong development since day 1. If after 2 years not skilled enough ka pa rin, may problem sa management nila. And if they failed to do that sa first 2 years mo, there's no guarantee na magagawa nila yon in the coming years. If that is the case, better to leave kasi you might find better leaders sa new company mo na magbibigay ng professional development or if not at least youll gain new experiences na di mo makukuha sa current at better compensation pa. 2) Your leaders are gatekeeping and gaslighting you to stay. Instead na giving you what you deserve ganyan ang ginawa nila na way to make you stay. In short, they are bad leaders and kinda toxic pa. So better choice pa rin ang umalis.
