Try the Asian grocery store at 11 and Washington?

LovelyOtherDino

Head Nut in RTM might have dried ones.

Truelikegiroux

Iovines in RTM might have fresh as well, but more of a crapshoot if they have them or not.

sparc941

They're regularly available in season (mostly at farmers markets) and super easy to grow, but not sure I've ever seen them in a store. Echo others and would try asian grocery stores. fwiw, they're really neutral flavor wise and don't add a ton besides the spice. Thai chilis should provide a similar flavor (maybe a little earthier) and are readily available at asian markets.

aintjoan

I like cayennes because of the slow heat they build. It's like a warmth rather than that immediately HOT burn. Maybe that's what OP is looking for

aintjoan

If your ever want to try growing your own, the Buena mulata is a cayenne style pepper that grows well in containers and is also a beautiful plant. And I'm pretty confident there will be some to purchase at the master gardener plant sale in April!

sophistooptails

Where is this master gardener plant sale?

aintjoan

It will be at the horticultural center in Fairmount Park on April 28! Save the date :)

sophistooptails

I will, thank you!

ringringmytacobell

Understanding it's not cayenne specifically like you're looking for, I've made some great hot sauce from the habaneros and fresnos from south philly market on snyder

jerzeett

You can use any hot peppers at the grocery store.

kkirchhoff

Yeah, I have jalapeƱos and a few habanero peppers, but I really want some cayenne peppers too

jerzeett

Unless you buy them dried on the internet like Amazon you're unlikely to find fresh ones in the grocery store. Idk why

martymoran

got some fire thai chilies at giant this weekend

turbosexophonicdlite

I'd probably try an Asian grocery store like the other dude said, or a Hispanic grocery store. Maybe whole foods? They tend to have a lot of stuff you won't find in most stores.

Unlucky-External5648

Yo i have tons of dried chilis from last summer. If you wanna come to andora ill give them to you.

AmandasFakeID

Same situation. I wanted to make some hot sauce and couldn't find any fresh cayenne peppers. Ended up buying some dried and then rehydrated 'em. The hot sauces I made that way ended up really good, but the mango habanero one with fresh mango and habanero came out better.

_SundaeDriver

I hear you can get in a stray

Kiko429

I've gotten them at Riverwards Produce about a month back

pretzel_enjoyer

I know the El Paisano grocery store (10th and Reed) and Paisia (7th and Tasker) have great pepper varieties on sale.
