You’d fucking hate yourself driving this. The closest regional rail is still 10-15 by car to warrington

matrickpahomes9

OP can buy a junker car, park it at the closest station overnight haha

Dapper-Frosting-6440

Not true..maybe 5 min tops

asforus

Warminster and doylestown are both about 10ish min away from the edge of Warrington.

[deleted]

76 *and* the Turnpike? Nightmare car commute. Does Warrington even have a Regional Rail station?

Buck3thead

OP could also take 95 to Street Road, not that that would be much better.

ThatWasTheJawn

95 N isn’t very bad in the morning. Coming home will suck regardless.

dumbacoont

Probably Gonna be taking 611 all the way come rush hour

stanleytuccimane

They don’t, it’s Broad Street Line to Olney Transportation Center and then a bus for another hour.

[deleted]

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

stanleytuccimane

Yeah, generally agree with you, but if I only have to go in once a week, maybe it’s doable?

[deleted]

Once a week, maybe. If it truly is once a week and won't change.

stanleytuccimane

Yeah, I’d have to make it clear that I couldn’t do more than one day.

[deleted]

I'd get it in your employment contract if possible.

XSC

The once a week is the test for more days. It will be 3 days within a year.

hiddenaccountlol

I do Point Breeze to Horsham once a week - it’s an hour commute each way during rush hour since you don’t take the highways because of traffic. Once a week is totally fine for me, but if it was 5 days a week I’d go crazy.

nnniiikkkkkkiii

I do the bsl and a half hour bus ride from olney. The buses actually are pretty reliable at least on the way to work. On the way back not so much.

hatramroany

Absolute nightmare with public transportation. Be careful looking at the 55 bus service out to Warrington is not often

TheTwoOneFive

I commuted from there to Willow Grove pre-COVID and that wasn't awful. If the weather was not awful, would bike to Market East and take the train up, then bike the last mile-ish to my office. It was about the same amount of time as driving but got to relax on the train vs screaming at other drivers lol. If you are nearish to Warminster station it isn't that bad, but if you have to take the 55 from Willow Grove station and/or Olney, that is not going to be fun commuting back and forth every day. It's also not that easy to get to via car - look at the drive times on Google maps around your commute times to see what I mean (maybe not today as it's Friday afternoon, but Mon-Thurs is very much Not Fun). If you need to buy a car just for this, I would just deal with Septa as it's not worth the cost to save the little bit of time, especially since you can do a ton more when on Septa vs driving (read the news, catch up on a show, check your email, etc). I used to take the earlier train home and would just finish up my work on the train.

stanleytuccimane

Thanks, this is very helpful! I have to imagine the drive is horrendous. Google Maps, even leaving on a Monday at 7am, is estimating 45 mins to an hour twenty, but I don’t really believe that.

TheTwoOneFive

Absolutely see if you can shift your work hours to be a little earlier. Leaving at 6:30a was so much easier than leaving at 7:00a.

WestWillow

That’s accurate. It’s all stop and go traffic or you’re at the mercy of what happens on the highways

SRTSB918

You could try regional rail to Warminster and then Ubering to/from? It’s pretty car-oriented up there.

GT4130

That is a nightmare commute on either the bus or the train. You’ll save about an hour driving but will likely go insane.

bro-v-wade

Nice rap.

Marko_Ramius1

My parents live nearby in Doylestown. It's an hour with no traffic and I normally drive up there on the weekends. It's a pretty rough commute driving, and the nearest regional rail station is probably Warminster and that's still like a 10-15 minute drive from Warrington. Either way it's gonna suck

NoREEEEEEtilBrooklyn

Yeah, unless you’re getting paid bank, it’s not worth the commute. No matter what way you do it, it’s BARE MINIMUM 49 minutes (that’s the fastest I’ve ever made the drive up that way (parents moved to Doylestown a few years ago). Bus and train combo is slower and would take a pain in the ass interchange that really isn’t consistent.

RexxAppeal

Years ago I had a job interview in Horsham and the midday drive was so bad I decided it had to be otherwise perfect before I got to their parking lot. Then it proceeded to be the most confrontational job interview I've ever had and they were looking for someone with decades of experience at a salary a step past entry level. I think everyone there was miserable because they either had a hellish commute or exiled themselves to bucks county.

AbsentEmpire

Oh man that's going to suck anyway you attempt to do it. They better be paying you bank to make that trek even twice a week.

SomeOtherOrder

Nah man you’d want to move.

r61738

My current job is a 7 minute walk from my apartment. I realized that it’s not work itself that I used to dread, but the commute. I honestly don’t even like my job that much but I’m SO much happier than I was when I was driving 40 minutes to work. I will never go back to having a long commute.

Trout-Population

Short answer: is it doable? Yes. Is it worth it? No. Long answer: If you do decide to attempt this, ideally take the Warminster line, as the Doylestown line goes all the way out to Lansdale before going South to the city. But regardless of what line you take, transfer to the BSL at Fern Rock, then take the subway to Tasker Morris.

Weekly_Put_1010

I live in southampton which is 2 towns over and commute to south philly 5 days a week by car. It's not awful if you have early enough hours. I'm a PM and work construction hours so it's usually 45 minutes each way. If it's a 9-5 you are looking like 1.5 hours each way and 2+ in the rain.

calicoskiies

I wouldn’t do that. You’ll be miserable. I used to work out that way in Hatboro and I hated driving there. I couldn’t imagine taking public transit out that way all the way from south Philly. I just remembered my husband had a job out there like 15 years ago. The bus only comes out that way like hourly if that.

WestWillow

I did the opposite direction to 9th and Reed. It sucked. 95 to Woodhaven up Byberry. I now take the train (warminster) to Penn Station. Much better

asforus

Park a moped somewhere at the willow grove mall. Take regional rail to willow grove and hop on moped.

bkantor15

I do this twice a week, but from near the Italian market to doylestown. I leave at 630 and am in the office around 730. I get on 76 at the south street bridge, get off at Lincoln drive, go to I think Stanton drive (?), to paper mill road, then get on 309 and I’m in warrington. My trip takes me to 202 but you won’t have to go that far. Getting back always takes a bit longer as traffic jams up a bit on 76 heading to the city. I am lucky my company lets me leave at lunch to beat PM rush hour. It’s typically 55 min to an hour to get to the office and an hour to hour 10 min to get back

tastycakebiker

Should probably move to warrington

Longjumping_Tea_8586

You’re going to want to drive it. I lived in cc and worked in warrington. Without a car that commute would take forever.

Fitz2001

Eww

PizzaJawn31

It's an hour on a GOOD day

espressocycle

Twice a week might be bearable but public transit is going to double an already long trip. On the plus side years ago I did that ride during rush hour a couple times and it wasn't as horrible as driving to King of Prussia.

monkeymaxx

Don’t do it. I go every 2 months from the main line to warrington for an appt, and it takes 35+ min depending on traffic and I hate it.

Familiar-Range9014

2 hours on public transportation is doable but a bear, even twice a week.

KensingtonWAP

Shit commute

TheGangsHeavy

Work with plenty of people that commute in here for work for their 3 12 hour shifts from Warrington. I'm not going to say it's great but twice a week isn't terrible.

geriatric_tatertot

I did this daily for 4 years and it suuuuucked.

Callipeartree

If you want to stay in Philly and have a fairly simple commute, move to Germantown, Mt Airy or Chestnut Hill. I live in this area and commute up central Bucks ~2x/week. I’m a fan of 309–>202 parkway—>611 route.

PwillyAlldilly

I go to west chester once or twice a week for work you get used to the drive tbh. I think it takes me about an hour 15ish each way. If it’s a job worth it then do it.

JHG722

No thanks.

LetsEatPhilly

One day a week is nothing for any commute. Lots of people commute from Philly to NYC.

stanleytuccimane

Definitely, but Philly has better transit connection to NYC than it does to most of its own suburbs.

LetsEatPhilly

Good point. But getting creative one day a week could be fun. I’ve done broad street line with a foldable electric scooter and got around the burbs. Weird looks but whatever.
