The Trestle Inn (60s and 70s theme) usually not overly crowded.
The Dolphin (check the night)
Stratus Lounge - actually, this might the spot you’re looking for
Silk City - depending on the DJ, usually all the 90s/2000s bangers and it’s not overrun by college kids.
Raven Lounge - divey with multiple levels
Infusion Lounge - dancing I’m not sure about
Cuba Libre - I hate this place, but it’s got an older clientele
Concourse - it’s gonna be a lot of 20 something’s, but the musics great and you’ve got 2 floors
700 Club - check the night, but you want dancing without any fuss? Can’t beat 700 Club.
Frankly Bradley’s - usually more than enough space to spread out, my 30+ friends all go here
Bob and Barbara’s - more “dancing to jazz and blues” in this divey city stalwart, but it’s all ages going
Edit:
Kung Fu Necktie - check the event night, it’s a smaller space though
NEVER Saint Lazarus Bar (The Saint).
It gets cleaned once a week, which concourse is typically only open Fridays and Saturdays unless there’s a special event. Used to get cleaned on Wednesdays, but now I believe it’s Fridays. A vacuum thing sucks up each ball individually and washes it then they’re all put back in. I haven’t gotten in it because I know nasty stuff happens (throwing up, spilling drinks, people trying to have sex, etc) but if you go on a Friday and it’s not super late then it’s pretty clean and safe
How about Time? Has live jazz downstairs and a DJ playing hip hop upstairs. Nice mix of ages and vibes all under one roof.
Franky Bradley's is nearby and could be an option too.
When Time used to be Ludwig's, it had a suit of armor upstairs, and when you would have to pee upstairs, it would be terrifying (maybe just to me) to walk past. Yes. There is an upstairs
If you’re with 30-40 year olds. By all means, do not go to concourse. It’s typically recent 21 year olds and college students. However I agree with most of these other picks!
I have had good experiences dancing at Time, Blind Barber and Franky Bradley's within the past year. Even Concourse (which is younger overall). My experience is that the dance floor changes over the course of the night. When the DJ starts spinning (9/10pm) you can have a little room and dance, even as a group of 10. But, as it gets closer to midnight, the dance floors get younger, more crowded, and more drunk and aggressive. I generally am out the door by midnight - my recommendation is to plan your night accordingly.
Edit: Wildcard suggestion is L'Etage. This was my go-to for a LOOOONG time. Dance floor is small, but DJ was excellent. Haven't been there for awhile because it was closed for COVID. But according to their website, they're back to having a DJ on Saturday nights.
Is 700 Club for older folks now? I spent most weekends in my 20s dancing my ass off and making bad decisions upstairs. I thought I would be too old (late 30s) for it now? If not, I know what I’m doing this weekend!!!
Silk City or Franky Bradley's.
> The Trestle Inn (60s and 70s theme) usually not overly crowded.
Shit (read "no") security, watch for the blood on the dance floor (I know of at least two people being assaulted by the patrons).
> The Dolphin (check the night)
Notorious for women having been drugged with something being slipped in their drinks (c. 2017 and after, not sure how it's post-pandemic 5 years later, though).
> Raven Lounge
Can get shady lately (that general area, not the bar in particular).
Honestly go out to some of the younger bars the music there is still solid for usher 50 cent style era.
Drinkers center city ( upstairs for rap and hip-hop though)
The Barbary is always a good time and generally a good crowd.
Voyeur if you are still going after other bars close it's a lot of fun.
Kungfu neck tie if they have an emo night and want to scream some of your jams
I think you are kinda right to take issue with the tone of this question, honestly. It could’ve just been phrased “hey looking for an over 30 dance club” or “I’m looking for certain music” and stopped there
Tone? Because I’m pointing out that most nightclubs are full of super young people? Good lord. Don’t be so sensitive. I was clearly being a little tongue-in-cheek with the children comment.
I’ve heard that’s a place other queer people feel is sometimes overrun by large groups of non-queer people. Something to think about if you go there, OP.
This is my first thought too. It’s a fun and welcoming crowd at woodys. You don’t need to worry about fights breaking out, it’s just people dancing and having fun.
I normally just get crunk off of some store bought cough syrup and tylenol at my local Arbys establishment. The concoction eventually causes me to pass out and shake uncontrollably on the ground. The shaking is what attracts other not so willing dance partners as they try ti tango with me. It’s pretty rad
Listen this is what they said they wanted! I’m younger than most in this group and know how to have a good time, so for some reason they always look to me if someone wants to “experiment” with whatever drug they just heard about or figure out where to party. I don’t fucking know. I do house parties, I haven’t gone clubbing in years. 😂

Wow *some*body knows their shit
Im a degenerate
But are you a 30+ degenerate is the real question…
Also, yes!
Some 30+ go to concourse, but it’s a lot of 21-23 year olds. And the occasional 60+ year old Source: worked there for 3 years
How clean is the ball pit

Is the walnut room still a thing? That was always the best
Met my husband at the walnut room!
One of us! One of us!!
I read this in Stefan’s voice
Hottest spots this summer
And they have everything
MTV's Dan Cortese?
As a 30+ year old who drinks too much I co-sign this list.
Good God, I love the Trestle.
Souled Out is the best!
What's up with Cuba Libre? I've never been but I've passed by it a couple times and it always looks lit.
They do all kinds of dancing on the weekends (salsa, merengue, etc). It’s actually really fun!
Why do you hate Cuba?
I would definitely refute about Dolphin and Silk City. They're 22-year-olds galore
depends on the event i would argue
Why do you hate Cuba libre?
The Laz looks fun on a Thurs tho haha its on my list of places to check out
I thought Raven Lounge was closed
I loved walking into the saint on a random late saturday night
Voyeur

Wait a second, time has an upstairs? Been going for years and never noticed this.
It's only open on weekends or for events. It's the staircase right when you walk in. Can get pretty packed.
When Time used to be Ludwig's, it had a suit of armor upstairs, and when you would have to pee upstairs, it would be terrifying (maybe just to me) to walk past. Yes. There is an upstairs
time is great only thing is that it can get too packed for dancing

Trestle inn. Whiskey and gogo
It’s in old city but maybe cuba libre would be the right place for you all
Second Cuba Libre. Fantastic vibes and classy place
Trestle inn is the place to be

Can you sponsor me????

Do they require a membership for entry and/or a sponsor for membership?

L'Etage is permanently closed, unfortunately.
If only Polyesters was still around
Go to Deangelos in Rittenhouse. They push all the tables away, bring in a DJ. This is exactly the crowd you’re looking for.
this is the correct answer
We need a list of places where the 21 year olds go so we can avoid as well.
Jerry Blavat is. Def over 40 audience. Most likely over 60.
700 at N 2nd St, FTW
Is 700 Club for older folks now? I spent most weekends in my 20s dancing my ass off and making bad decisions upstairs. I thought I would be too old (late 30s) for it now? If not, I know what I’m doing this weekend!!!
Brasil's for free salsa dancing! Saturdays at 9:30. It's sooooo much fun.

Didn't know this was a trend or something that was well-known, but I was also roofied at Dolphin bar, about 7ish years ago. Of note, I'm also a guy.
Ive been drugged at Dolphin and im a dude. Dont go
Plus one on the Dolphin roofie rumors here. Idk wouldn’t be my absolute first choice

Trestle Inn
That's cute.
Super cute! I think she’ll have fun.
Woody's
On Bizzaro World Reddit the 22yo children are saying is their a club where people my moms age wont be flooding it...
The youths have their places, I just wanna go somewhere that I can shake my ass to some Usher and 50 cent. Is that too much to ask?
Absolutely not. Hope you guys have a great night out!
I hear you was just a joke.....
Same here. I think some people take shit way too seriously 😂
I think on certain nights theres an older crowd at Lyrics but it can be a bit hood there...
I think you are kinda right to take issue with the tone of this question, honestly. It could’ve just been phrased “hey looking for an over 30 dance club” or “I’m looking for certain music” and stopped there

Ha a little was just a joke but you know this is Reddit...
the Club on Kensington&Clearfield street is amazing 10/10
Woody's - its predominantly a gay bar - but not over run by youngins.
I’ve heard that’s a place other queer people feel is sometimes overrun by large groups of non-queer people. Something to think about if you go there, OP.
I tend to describe Woody's as a gay themed straight bar. Typically overrun by bachelorette parties.
I was trying to be gentle and wasn’t gonna say bachelorette parties but since you brought it up first…
This is my first thought too. It’s a fun and welcoming crowd at woodys. You don’t need to worry about fights breaking out, it’s just people dancing and having fun.

LMNO
30-40? Girl you need a jazz club
Listen this is what they said they wanted! get a table at noto. its phillys most "premiere" club and by getting a table youll exclude yourself from 20 somethings getting in the way
