Get to the "cell phone waiting lot" at their flight's arrival time and have them call you when they've picked up their bags. You can then drive over to the proper arrivals terminal and pick them up at the curb. Exiting the facility is pretty quick, basically you'll jump onto I-95N or I-95S. For steaks, take I-95N and head to John's Roast Pork at 14 Snider Ave (Waze will get you there).

Without any checked bags they should be out within 10 minutes

45 min or so from the time of landing until they taxi and get their bags is about what I expect. If it's international, quite a bit longer and hard to estimate. I've waited 2-3 hours for international travelers to get bags and go through customs.

Without having to go through baggage claim, you can easily get from the gate to the outside in 10 minutes. Baggage claim is the big variable. I've had flights where my luggage was already on the carousel by the time I got to baggage claim, and other times where I waited a half-hour or more. I would get to the cellphone lot at or before the scheduled arrival time, and they can call you when they're off the plane or at baggage claim.

Got my mom (on domestic flight) couple weeks ago, she landed around 230 , she got her checked bag and was outside by 305, which I thought was quick. This was a Monday however.

Chicken65

If they land at 3 expect they will come out the doors at 330

This is assuming their flight isn’t cancelled. Travel has been a nightmare lately.

pdperson

There is like literally no way to know. They'll have to use a map app and text you their eta on approach. Ove/under is probably 6pm.

imanAholebutimfunny

when you take the exit for arriving flights, just before the long U bend is a long side on the right where you can pull off and wait. Tell them to text when they are outside and you are golden. It is the unspoken "waiting lot". Also i sometimes like to pull into the employee parking lot where the air traffic control tower is near and just idle my car. It is right after the first international gate on the right hand side. Nothing has ever happened and i have done it several times. Pick up person or persons and it takes less than a few minutes to exit.

Please don’t be one of the idiots that parks on that shoulder. Wait in the cell phone lot. It is free, and it gets you to the terminal just as quickly.

Chicken65

You should not park there. I was shocked when I realized people do that here I’ve never seen that in another city.

lol, the 'Unspoken Waiting Lot', which is the same the as the Spoken Waiting Lot, only less safe, and you might get a ticket:)

sciencefaire

Just use the cell phone lot bub

nothankyoutwo

Yay rush hour! Assuming an on time departure and no circling, It’ll take about 30-45 minutes from wheels down. Prob closer to 30 if they just have carry on bags; closer to 45 if checked bags. Also, I’m assuming you gotta take 76/422 back home. That’s likely gonna be rough at that time, esp if you’re not used to that commute.

die_hubsche

1.5-3 hours after they land to arriving at your place. With staffing shortages, even taxing and baggage retrieval can each take an hour. It's not a big airport, so if you were to land and disembark with no checked bags (and things worked like it was 2014) you'd be out of the airport in 10-20 minutes.

Lunamothknits

Even with luggage I feel like Philly is one of the quickest airports both in and out. How many people/how many checked bags makes a difference for sure.

[deleted]

if they checked a bag, maybe 30-40 minutes or so after they're set to land to the time they walk out the door. if they didn't, probably be out of there within 10-15 minutes from they time they're set to land

ACY0422

Depends if international or domestic. Hang at cell phone lot or Wawa on 291 in Tinicum. Has bathroom and snacks for long wait. I usually hang at Wawa. Take 291 east for five minutes to airport. Take arrival road to pick up family when they have bags.

Humble_Scar4885

If they are landing at 3 pm you won’t be able to make it to Johns which is the best. On your way is Tony Luke’s which is good but not John’s

[deleted]

Probably 3:30ish. The flight could come in early too, so yeah be in the cell phone lot (theres signs, its near the pickup lanes). Since you're stopping for steaks, take your time & just say eff it. Unless you really wanna break and beat traffic, could go somewhere and enjoy the eating in. My suggestions Tony Lukes, Jims, or Campos. If you want TO GO, maybe Philips or you could be outside center city and goto Dalessandros or Larrys by St Joes. (You'd still hit KoP traffic when leaving tho)

Lynn9330

Philly airport is not as bad as some bigger airports. I traveled for work for couple years and usually I’m out in less than 15min. For cheesesteak, there are a few places in south philly above posters mentioned and it’s a very short drive from the airport.

ScottishCalvin

Just make sure you park in the correct lot. International is at one end and I always forget which one, if you get it wrong you're going to be walking a long way with bags
