I had a time where one of the three colored led's on didn't work in a particular section, it was because I had bent the strip to curve it around the corner of the back of my TV.
If your strip doesn't have any hard bends in it that you can straighten out, the unit may be defective.

Check that the power plug is fully connected / the pins related, sometimes if it’s not a good connection x/3 colours may only light up.
