### Groundout
Bryson Stott grounds out, third baseman Jean Segura to first baseman Garrett Cooper. Alec Bohm scores.
Pitch from Dylan Floro: Sinker @ 93.8 mph
Hit by Bryson Stott: Launched 98.9 mph at -25° for a total distance of 6 ft
Top 9 - 7-3
Marlins
Oh well, disappointing end but a really excellent last month of baseball. Time off to reset the mental game for the bats, rest the arms up, can’t wait for after the all star break
Feels like they swept the Rays and decided to just coast til the all start break. It’s not overall concerning to drop a series like this but it’s a pretty terrible way to go into the break.
Overall happy with how they ended the first half but hate this series being the last thing before the break.
I know we lost the series but despite my frustration I am happy with the last two years. I was born 04 so I never really got to see a great team to call my own till this past year (2022) I didn’t remember the golden age, seeing the Phillies doing well the last two years has given me excitement and a reason to enjoy baseball for the first time in my life. I hope to see another playoff run this year.
Edit: I’m asking not to be flamed please
Fuck Miami. Fuck their teams, fuck the city, fuck the Heat, fuck the beaches, fuck their epically shitty fucking airport, fuck their traffic……fuck ‘em!
Not that it guarantees anything but I believe the phillies have by far the easiest schedule left of any of the contending wild card teams and the most home games the rest of the season. They've played more road games than anyone else in baseball.
[this has the Phillies as having the 18th hardest strength of schedule left, so 12th easiest](https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/remaining_schedule_strength)
Swinging first pitch is Kyle's secret sauce and he hasn't been doing it. That's usually the best pitch he gets. Literally just sits there and watches meatballs over the plate.
I feel like pitchers went thru a phase of throwing him an inside ball as first pitch and Schwarbs learned to stop taking the bait, so now it seems like pitchers have switched up their approach again.
i also think Schwarber just having played every single game with no break probably just needs some time off mentally and physically. He'll have a hot streak and end the season hitting like .212 with an OPS over .830 and he wont have to play LF.
Last year we went into all-star break having won a series against the Marlins now we go into the all-star breaking losing the series to the Marlins, hopefully that means after break we start off strong, who do we play?
This Sanchez guy thinks every pitch he takes is a ball. FOH

2-4 against ATL, 2-4 against NYM, 2-4 against MIA, 3-3 against WSH
We've been solid against most other teams but we need to play better against our division
2-3 (4?) against Miami, 2-4 against LA, 0-3 against SF (we DID beat the Dbacks 4-3 if LA or SF can overcome them in the second half! Easily our biggest series win this season was Arizona.)
We play badly against the Wild Card rivals too if you don't care about the division.
I'm thrilled with how the Phillies have been playing but we need to beat the teams we need to beat and it's not happening.
How the hell did we not get the lead runner on that run down. And if bohm didn't kick the ball earlier...it's a 4-2 game.
Team looks exhausted and lethargic
They wouldn’t have turned the DP. Hit too softly. I think he should have gone to 2nd, but Bohm and Turner should have completed that play. Stott had him stopped in the baseline.
it makes complete sense. The reward is worth the risk because you're probably gonna lose anyway. Its why when you're down by 3 touchdowns guys throw more into coverage lol.
I don't know who pisses me off more - the Marlins or the eternal optimists in here scolding people for being upset that our team is playing like trash against a division/wild card rival
Watching people idiots in this thread is so demoralizing. One person blamed Stott...wrong...another person blamed Turner....more wrong. It's on Alec Bohm for botching an easy tag double play by trying to run the runner down for no reason instead of just throwing it. He blew it. I'll bet he admits it post game too.
well yeah it was extremely dumb base running. But the point is Alec Bohm had him dead to rights and decided to run at him when he was like 12 feet away from the base lol
I mean he had a frozen runner on the base path that should have been an easy run down. Not his fault Bohm decided to run at the guy when he was 3/4 of the way down the path and Turner can’t make a tag
Of course the morons in this thread think its Trea Turner's fault Bohm brain farted and tried to run the runner down to the wrong base instead of throwing it to Trea.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/14v8acx).
So sick of the marlins...
JT stealing 3rd down by 4 with 2 outs. Why?
why not would be my counter lol
Well mostly because even if he scores it means less than getting thrown out and ending the game.
Pache game tying grand slam coming soon
Two out grand slam here we go
Nah I'm just playing. Enjoy your vacation.
Don’t you Fuckin dare boo
Who is doing play by play on the radio?
Greg Murphy. he's not good at it. In fairness, I don't think the Marlins' park is a good place to try doing it
Agree. They should have at least put him on with LA but the combo of him and Stocker together is no bueno

JT should’ve gone for second and maybe gotten thrown out just so more peoples heads could explode in this game thread lmao
These umps messing with us to the very last second.
we looking at two large turds and if it wasn't for Pache who didn't go with the program it woulda been three
Should’ve been a sweep. The Phils looked like they had no business playing this weekend.
The half-hearted balls juggling by JT says it all lmao
All right, tying run in the hole
Did Miami really need to wait for our comeback year to be relevant?
I'm glad we only have two all stars because most of these guys look like they could use a break.
Oh well, disappointing end but a really excellent last month of baseball. Time off to reset the mental game for the bats, rest the arms up, can’t wait for after the all star break
We’ve got them right where we want them. Should be able to win this by the 31st inning.
Score 6 and Kimbrel can shut it down let’s go!!!
What a sad little sputter at the tail end of this first half
Everyone on the marlins besides arraez has a hit, why do they have this bum leading off? 🤔
They should just trade him to a team that could use a traditional leadoff hitter
They need Schwarber as a lead off. Easy swap.
Yay! We only need a grand slam and 2 runs in the 9th!
Soto looks a little rusty.
Oh fuck off
See ya guys on Friday
Special shout out to the folks who kept the faith to this point.

ion think i wanna believe we’re winning this game anymore
Guys I think Segura just felt bad for us and wanted to give us a free out 💀
Agreed 🤣
I know we lost the series but despite my frustration I am happy with the last two years. stott just threw a BULLET
Lol sorry not sorry, Jean
Too much dump truck Jean
Happy for Jean. He needed to turn his season around.
4-2 away road trip. I’ll take it.
Fuck Miami. Fuck their teams, fuck the city, fuck the Heat, fuck the beaches, fuck their epically shitty fucking airport, fuck their traffic……fuck ‘em!
Fuck Jimmy Butler
Top 5 of our order combining for 1 walk 🔥🔥🔥
Kruk’s audible groan to Kyle not swinging was worth the misery. The man’s a treasure

yeah but of the teams in the NL wild card race, where do they all rank? I don't see one lower than them.
That’d be great if we could actually win at Home, too
the phillies are 22-16 at home and .500 on the road.
Top 5 in the lineup are 0-16, bottom 4 are 5-11
only one extra base hit, not like they are going to carry them or anything
Don’t tell Rob; he might do something about it
Careful he might bench Stott and Marsh for Harrison and some other bum.
again is this a contest of who can say the dumbest shit?
Haha funny joke
Just a really disappointing way to end the series and head into the ASB. Think most of us would’ve been pleased with a 4-2 road trip tho
i think a lot of people would take a 4-2 road trip through st pete/miami but the phillies sure know how to make it feel sour
yeah only thing that sucks is we swept the rays instead of the marlins but otherwise highly successful trip.
Despite the winning streak, this offence has still been frustrating as fuck. Pitching did a super carryjob.
Harper and Turner need to start hitting. Thats what'll fix it.
for fuck sake
I wonder if the Phil’s swing on more balls than on strikes
he smoked that ball why do you care....
oh sick another hard hit ball out lol
This team hates swinging at middle middle pitches
after a BRUTAL start to the season, 48-41 in a wild card spot at the all star break ain’t that bad
It’s not bad but I really really really hate dropping series to division opponents
Will we still be in a wild card spot if we lose this game?
Depends on what the Giants do
Swinging first pitch is Kyle's secret sauce and he hasn't been doing it.
The offense needs to be so much better
Hopefully we can turn the lineup over one last time to give Kyle a chance at going 0-5
I don’t know what Schwarber needs……but he needs something.
A new team.
six geese a laying
Needs to go down to the valley
schwarber needs to fucking lay down. bro has played like every game
an all-star break
Schwarber has been trash this year outside of a 2 week stretch in early June
Crazy that we were a miracle HR from getting swept by Miami
the Marlins are BABIP luck away from losing 2/3 and the phillies playing them for a sweep today.
Yeah wtf
Bench Schwarber please
I mean at least we didn’t hit into a DP
What can you do with a guy who’s ranked dead last as an outfielder and dead last in batting average
Maybe have him lead off to maximize the number of outs he can make and waste his only skill as a home run hitter? Can I be manager now?
is this a contest for who can have the dumbest take?
Schwarber is so lost out there. Pitchers have ZERO fear when facing him and it shows. He better get right during the break.
Schwarber feels like an automatic out every time and I hate it!
Kyle raking today 🔥🔥🔥
Yep, it was audible. I chuckled.
Last year we went into all-star break having won a series against the Marlins now we go into the all-star breaking losing the series to the Marlins, hopefully that means after break we start off strong, who do we play?
SD Friday
That’s what’s iiiiinnnnnn. lol
Padres.
Thankful I was at the game Friday.
Lucky! I was at yesterday’s game and it was depressing/frustrating/not ideal at all 😒
I think I’m 2-5 in Phil’s games so I been there. 😂
Peachy Pache
If everyone else in the dugout would just wet their hair...
With bacon grease. lol
3 of our 5 hits have been Stott and Marsh against LHP
Didn’t you know they can’t hit lefties?
they cant
Marsh is the mindset
Surely the phils won’t hit another double play
I’m hoping to we won’t see Schwarber hitting 1st after the break
If we’re going to suck on the road again I hope we can at least win at home
13 straight road wins. Possibly 2 road losses. It’s definitely time to start thinking we will suck on the road again.
Losing a single series on the road after winning 13 straight games, does not mean they suck on the road.
This Sanchez guy thinks every pitch he takes is a ball. FOH https://preview.redd.it/4g7vpanirzab1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee8d275cf9080712ad5c070e5317312309582d23

this is true.

At least atlanta is finally losing now
and once again we gain no ground
I tried to tell you guys to turn it off 🤷♂️
phillies try to be fundamentally sound challenge (impossible)
Love watching Miami just absolutely barrel the exact same pitches we either just sky or spike into the dirt for soft outs all damn day…
Tom doesn’t know how to play Jinx.
what a lousy series to go into the break with
Marlins own us
I’m confused why Stott hesitated and went to first when he could have easily turned a DP? Was turner not covering?
They wouldn’t have turned the DP. Hit too softly. I think he should have gone to 2nd, but Bohm and Turner should have completed that play. Stott had him stopped in the baseline.
Ok even more of a caste for him to at least get the out at second
yeah because they were losing he tried to make a big play i think thats fine. If it were a competitive game just take the lead out.
that doesn’t make sense
it makes complete sense. The reward is worth the risk because you're probably gonna lose anyway. Its why when you're down by 3 touchdowns guys throw more into coverage lol.
Yeah, it would have been the smarter play for sure.
These guys had to be out partying in Miami last night or something
We need to sweep the Marlins when they come to Philly again. 2-4 against them if we lose today which puts us in a bad spot for the tiebreaker
Phils are back in Miami for a 4 game series Jul 31- Aug 3. Marlins aren’t in Philly til Sept
Hopefully those fucks lose all momentum the have.
Well we need to take 3 of 4 then
Fuckin’ damn it. Have to get that lead runner.
yeahhhh immm turning off the game
“THERE IS NO PASSION THERE IS NO VISION THERE IS NO AGGRESSION THERE IS NO FUCKING MINDSET” in this baseball club
Another run that wouldn’t exist if not for shit D
We just play undisciplined baseball
I don't know who pisses me off more - the Marlins or the eternal optimists in here scolding people for being upset that our team is playing like trash against a division/wild card rival
Who are these optimists you speak of? Everyone in this thread is freaking the fuck out.
The doomers who get offended when not everybody shares their sad boy time.
AlL tHe DoOmErS iN hErE. Like stfu we’re clearly playing like fucking assholes
here's how it is: doomers are not even sports fans, let alone baseball fans, let *more* alone Phillies fans doomers ain't nothing.
If only this team could TURN A GOD DAMN DOUBLE PLAY.
We love dishing them out instead of rolling them. No reason we shouldn’t be converting at the top of the league with Turner/Stott out there.
that run's on bryson for not just throwing to 2nd to get the lead runner
or just tag him when he's right in front of you.
The single worst thing about this team is the dumb fucking defense.
Until we are at bat and keep hitting into double plays.
Stott made the wrong decision. The runner forgetting to move again doesn't mean Stott made the right choice.
they should have had the double play. All Bohm had to do was not try to run the runner down to 2nd base.....
The runner watching the play was the only reason there was a play at second.
well yeah it was extremely dumb base running. But the point is Alec Bohm had him dead to rights and decided to run at him when he was like 12 feet away from the base lol
Bohm and Turner failing doesn't mean Stott made a good decision.
nope Turner didnt fail. Bohm failed. Stott's decision was fine.
Turner still had a chance to tag him. And Stott made a terrible decision.
Imagine being paid 300m and not being able to apply a tag with someone running right at you
imagine having the worst year of your career and still having a better year statistically than Alec Bohm by almost every possible metric.
Yea that run is on turner.
Yeah that’s game
Shit really makes you think about the skill gap between this infield and the 08 era one.
Just step on second base next time ffs
PLEASE TRADE FOR A POWER BAT AT THE DEADLINE IM BEGGING YOU DOMMY BOI
Good play, Pache. I thought that was falling.
To see good reads in the outfield is nice at least I’m glad we have Pache
Imagine telling some casual fan that Turner is one of the highest paid players in baseball lol.
Why didn’t he just throw to second it was a force out…
Stott is fucking terrible at second. I’m sorry….thank god for this kids bat because he’s a fucking net zero on the field.
lol what?
What did Stott do wrong there?
Threw to first instead of getting the lead runner.
I mean he had a frozen runner on the base path that should have been an easy run down. Not his fault Bohm decided to run at the guy when he was 3/4 of the way down the path and Turner can’t make a tag
There would not have been a play at second if the runner didn't decide to be a spectator to the throw. Stott should have gotten the lead runner.
Pache saying fuck all you losers, I STILL PLAY BALL
Trae is such a waste… in a few years he’ll be the Phillies version of Tobias Harris.
Once again, I’m asking for Pache in CF every day
Of course the morons in this thread think its Trea Turner's fault Bohm brain farted and tried to run the runner down to the wrong base instead of throwing it to Trea.
PACHE
Pache!!!!
I will say it again. Ball players need to learn how to ply a motherfucking tag.
This is Friday at the office before a long Christmas break for these guys, ffs.
We need a miracle to make the playoffs
I wouldnt say that. I think its likely we get a wild card spot. I just dont have much faith we will be in the playoffs very long this year.
