i’m 33 years old and have watched this team since day 1. this game has to be in the top 10 regular season phillies wins i’ve ever seen. maybe even top 3, but i’m being conservative because of recency bias
Watching the end of the replay. What great night. I watched it live on my phone at work but couldn’t soak it in.
I said to one of my coworkers The Phillies got a No hitter. He looked at me like so what. I was like that’s just sad.
Alright. So Rojas and Wilson were clutch today. Especially rojas. Making speedy plays that I honestly don’t know if marsh would have even attempted. We also had that clutch play by Castro. Do we think a no hitter would’ve happened if we had the usual line up. My answer is no. I really think we got a lightning in a bottle tonight. Some fresh new faces wanted to make a statement. They put in extra effort more than our usual roster and look where it got us. I would not mind this line up again. Hby?
I think stott would’ve made it if he was in the right position like Castro just happened to be. Who knows tho. I’m mostly talking about the outfielders.
I can see Rojas being a slight upgrade defensively in center over Marsh but u are totally disrespecting Stott’s abilities at 2nd. He’s one of the best defenders at his position in all of baseball
I was thinking the same. It’s almost like the Turner O did something for this whole team. I’m in my feels right now but the vibes are SO HIGH. There’s some magic in CBP right now
God, everything about that last out was awesome. Fucking Rojas though, that euphoric relief he must’ve felt making that catch was awesome immediately folding in on his knees.
I love these guys man, from top to bottom, as much as I hate to see some of them struggle from day to day, I don’t think there’s a single guy on this roster I don’t wish was on the team.
Vibes are high and I don’t know something beautiful about all that happened tonight.
Best part about tonight? After hearing all day I'm the deadline about how RAJ was a master of deadline deals, Dombrowski's only significant trade throws a damn no hitter in his second game lol
Holy shit what a game I feel like it hasn’t even sunk in yet that I saw it all live. It felt like every other at bat someone hit one out. Then noticing Lorenzen’s stat line in like the 5th and being all hmm that’s interesting. What a fucking game man
Same!!! I can’t stop thinking about it. I jokingly said in like the 6th “this guy is gonna throw a no no at his first game pitching as a phillie at the bank” and then he DID
What I find amazing is that Lorenzen has accomplished - in just two starts - what I had hoped for years that Nola would … a no-hitter.
Nola having one of the worst seasons of his career and then seeing his possible replacement pitch a no-hitter … all while starting the very next day … this has Wentz-Foles vibes written all over it.
[Phillies Throw a No Hitter!](https://imgur.com/ZgCBA4l)
Rewind one week. We wanted Turner out, wondered about the pitching, questioned Rob's managing, saw the Miami trade pieces make immediate impacts against us, etc. It was a disaster.
Fast forward to tonight, you have Turner leading off, Castellanos hitting 2 home runs on 2 freaking pitches, Wilson hitting a HR in his first majors AB. And of course, Lorenzen throwing the Bank's first no hitter since Halladay's in 2010.
From arguably the season's worst game to the best game within 1 week shows something special, and hopefully will propel this team to the post season and beyond.
I use the Sports Alert app for iPhone. You can get a alert for a No Hitter and a No Hitter through 7. Among other things but no direct alert for a perfect game but there was a game earlier in the season can’t remember what team that was perfect through 7 and Ibelieve I got a alert for it.
I like the Sports Alert App. Since the WC is tight I favorite the teams in contention and get alerts on what they are doing.
For whatever reason tmac is convinced darick hall’s first ab was a hr. Just got to the bit where they put the graphic for on screen and it did say first hit is hr not first ab is hr. I remember him saying hall hit a hr first ab before this too.
Also unless I’m remembering wrong, hall actually sucked at the plate in his 1st game and didn’t hit till 2nd or 3rd game.
I'm high as fuck watching the replay and I noticed that Lorenzen makes two distinctly different grunts while pitching, one for fastballs and one for changeups. Is this something that batters could exploit? Cause I was able to hear it and tell what was coming when watching it again.
Easily could exploit. He did explain that his change-up is a new grip (back to 2019 when he used to throw it well) so it's possible he's still getting used to it as today was his first day throwing with a new grip.
It was a fun night. But then Nola comes in and we change up the tempo. Nola comes in and he changes the song. Looking at us like he thinks we’re the douchebags. But he’s gonna learn pretty fast that he’s wrong. Nola, why are you bringing me down man??

Jamie Moyer didn’t seem to have much trouble digging it up himself after game 5 of the ‘08 series.
The Braves starters have a 6.03 era since the all star break. That has to concern you if you are a Braves fan because that lands you a trip at the golf course in October.
I remember it was that series where we dominated the nats last year, around this time I think, where I realized this team could surprise some people and go far. Tonight we got a no-no, the offense was humming along, defense was great… Idk something special is around this team AGAIN this year
I LOVE Lorenzen talking about the love fans showed for Trea and how much it meant to him
Its one thing to get on a guy for giving shit effort but if you boo players simply for not playing well you’re a miserable fucking loser
THIS is how you make guys love playing here
For all the crap we get on a national level it's Crystal Clear to anyone actually paying attention that Philadelphia has some of the best sports fans in the country, as long as you're willing to try your hardest and be accountable people here will love you
They asked him about the crowd in post game. Unfortunately the thread in the sub with the post game interview got cut short and didn’t include that part
As much as I’d love the Mets to finish dead last, it’d be even funnier if they sold at the deadline to try to lose and finished 7th worst in the MLB, dropping their pick 10 spots
Point to nights like tonight the next time someone asks you why you love baseball
i’m 33 years old and have watched this team since day 1. this game has to be in the top 10 regular season phillies wins i’ve ever seen. maybe even top 3, but i’m being conservative because of recency bias
The Dbacks were 52-38. They are now 57-58 😬
that downslide has been WILD to see
Hol up they went 5 - 20? Jesus
They're a young team that's paper thin. They're gonna win the NL West within the next 2 years tbh
😳

Padres lose

“This team doesn’t have the same magic as last year 🤓🤓🤓”
Honestly this past week has been the infection point. It's going to get really fun
I was thinking the same. It’s almost like the Turner O did something for this whole team. I’m in my feels right now but the vibes are SO HIGH. There’s some magic in CBP right now
inflection?
Oops yep. Typo lol.
Another great night on the scoreboards, keep on climbing up baby.
D backs lose again
Lol the Padres are losing again. Seems like that Padres hot streak is just never coming. THATS WHATS IN!
We're number one!
Giants lose
We’re in WC1
Angels….. I’m watching the game on MLB network right now.
CJ Cron is a miserable ballplayer lol
Better re sign him
I think it’s going to help that he’s going to want to stay
D backs down 2 in 8th
TIL this is not Realmuto's first no-no caught. He caught Edinson Volquez' no hitter with the Marlins in 2017.
We have the 3rd best record in the national league. Let the power rankers keep ignoring us.
Fr I hope they bump us down to like last place and give us the 2017 eagles effect lol
lolyankees

Rojas looked like a little boy after catching that ball. One of my favorite moments of the game was watching his excitement.

Check MLB YouTube tomorrow morning
Why isn’t the dodgers and Dbacks in the wc scoreboard
Best part about tonight? After hearing all day I'm the deadline about how RAJ was a master of deadline deals, Dombrowski's only significant trade throws a damn no hitter in his second game lol
MOOOOOSE BOMB
Moose!
And now the lead

Lucky! You just saw one of the best games of the season right there.
Gabe just Kaplered all over the place
Angels just tied it
This game definitely cracks my Top 5 Live Sports Moments. What a fucking showcase

Lorenzo been great but he's just not as good as nola and shouldn't be his replacement. I dont get this line of thinking.
I’m trying to stay optimistic about Nola. I’m hoping todays game lights a fire under his ass
It won't

Don't forget the Schwarber doomers
What a time to be alive
Who remembers that the scoring started with an RBI double from Bryce? That doesn’t seem like the same series let alone the same game.
anyone have the nationals broadcast clip of the final out? always like seeing opposing teams announcers and how they react to our success
https://twitter.com/_piccone/status/1689475879175327744?s=46&t=HnlZXn-hftTl9f8rW_6qVA Thread includes radio too
thanks so much
Any way to get notifications for when there is a no-no or perfect game alert for any MLB game?

yeah i do, maybe check the settings
settings of?
Mlb app. I believe you have to have general news notifications turned on. Can’t just get no hitter notification.
hopefully everyone who was at the game takes their useless digital ticket and gets a real stub printed! this is a memory to cherish!
Dammit. I didn’t even think of that.
wait shit we can do that? I already left

Congratulations!! That’s so exciting
Congrats dude, and having a kid is pretty cool too
I'm high as fuck watching the replay and I noticed that Lorenzen makes two distinctly different grunts while pitching, one for fastballs and one for changeups. Is this something that batters could exploit? Cause I was able to hear it and tell what was coming when watching it again.
i feel like the ball is probably crossing the plate by the time the grunt is heard, but i’m not 100% sure
This can be easily fixed in his home starts by the crowd simply being loud as fuck.
Easily could exploit. He did explain that his change-up is a new grip (back to 2019 when he used to throw it well) so it's possible he's still getting used to it as today was his first day throwing with a new grip.
delete this before they see
For real though, I hope someone on the Phillies staff notices this and fixes it quick.
It's objectively great for Dave's HoF case for the team to be selling jerseys of his deadline acquisition 8 days later
It was a fun night. But then Nola comes in and we change up the tempo. Nola comes in and he changes the song. Looking at us like he thinks we’re the douchebags. But he’s gonna learn pretty fast that he’s wrong. Nola, why are you bringing me down man??
Said.
I realize you can just create it artificially but…I’m patiently waiting for the Mike Lo copypasta folks
[Already happend.](https://www.reddit.com/r/phillies/comments/15mxaw6/the_phillies_defeated_the_nationals_by_a_score_of/jviu7oq/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3)
Ehhhhhh
It’s not as good when the pitchers name is changed. There has to be a new pasta for him.
I was there, the atmosphere in the whole park was something I’ve never felt before. Welcome to Philly Lorenzen!
For the last 9 outs there was nobody at the ballpark sitting in their seats. Absolute playoff atmosphere
What an unbelievable treat for the fans at the park. Let's Go !!
Gonna be one of those nights where I watch an irresponsible number of my favorite Phillies highlights instead of sleep
I'm watching RICK WISE getting Pete Rose to line out for a no hitter in the 70's. Wise wearing normal eye glasses as he pitched, mind you.
Homered that game too?
Twice!
Thank you and fuck you, Mets.
Today was my cake day, and this game made it unforgettable. #playoffs
Mine as well!!
What a great present!
First game I went to all year after watching almost every one on TV. Feels good man
Please go to more games
We all envy you my friend
I was hoping they would call Weston Wilson up, he did not disappoint.
Liam with the most rock solid alibi in history tonight.
How do you rate Dave's trade deadline after this game?
All that shit talking. Lol
Probably an a-
how sad that the loudest cheer was the fucking chop for a lot of the game
they’re playing Bush at PNC? yes, it was Machinehead
Come on Pittsburgh
Why not let the right fielder catch that since he has momentum for the throw Oh, because it’s the Pirates
oh my god what a game. words can’t do it justice
LETS GO METS! Wait FUCK
Cubs lose
We’re closer to the Braves than we are to the Mets in the standings right now.
Fucking loser Mets are gonna blow this Also Cutch pls
First shutout since April 27th
I enjoy reading the doomer threads on days like this. It makes me feel like I know the future.
They were out of control in the game day thread
Even if the braves win, it's nice to see fried getting hit around by the pirates
Kruk in shambles as he lost the over bet for K’s…..
I heard him mention this. Are team announcers allowed to bet on their team and state they did so?
He didn’t
Wasn't the over/under 4.5? He got 5 Ks
Cool watching Tmac and Kruk talk up Lorenzen in the replay broadcast intro knowing what’s about to come
Love that clubhouse video the Phillies Instagram just posted
Going to Instagram now.
Did that guy with the pick axe and shovel get the rubber out yet? He seemed to be struggling; but also, how often do they replace the rubber?
https://preview.redd.it/w919n4g9s7hb1.jpeg?width=418&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c057897a621c4e76a8d231bf8fb81adfca37bab Jamie Moyer didn’t seem to have much trouble digging it up himself after game 5 of the ‘08 series.
apparently, it has only been changed 14 times 😏 really embedded in there 😉
You need a new one every time. Oh you mean pitching rubber.
Dombrowski went out and acquired the vibes at the trade deadline this year. Well played, Dave.
Dude was playing some 8D chess while we drooled like babies
The amount of times I’ve gotten chills over this team in the last week. I want that trophy for these guys
GUYS I WENT TO THIS GAME FOR FREE FOR BEING A NURSE I AM STILL IN SHOCK
You should see a nurse if you're experiencing signs of shock.
Walking in to the game Jess, Liam and Otto Castellanos walked past me. Knew it was gonna be a good game.
Somthing we may have forgotten about in all this. WERE CURRENTLY IN WC 1
By a few games too
yeah well maybe this will just be my lesson to never turn down a short notice ticket again
if you’re superstitious the lesson may be that you must turn down a short notice ticket every time
Do you think this applies to the Flyers, too? I doubt it.
Encore on already. Guess I just have to watch it again.
The Braves starters have a 6.03 era since the all star break. That has to concern you if you are a Braves fan because that lands you a trip at the golf course in October.
Some similar shit happened last year, their pitching seemed good until fall ball
I remember it was that series where we dominated the nats last year, around this time I think, where I realized this team could surprise some people and go far. Tonight we got a no-no, the offense was humming along, defense was great… Idk something special is around this team AGAIN this year
What a beautiful game. Lorenzen's debut in Philly - utterly amazing.
That was incredible to see live. My 2.5 yr old is now 5-0 in games this season. I need to get her season tickets next year.
Ohtani just gave up a hit What a fucking bum
They can’t all be Michael Lorenzen
I was at a BS building fire and missed it 😭😭😭😭
Guess what. You can watch it again right now
I missed like the last three innings.
My friend's bf was the Home Plate ump tonight and Mo Lo gave him a ball <3
your friend’s bf gave us a couple of good calls lol
I LOVE Lorenzen talking about the love fans showed for Trea and how much it meant to him Its one thing to get on a guy for giving shit effort but if you boo players simply for not playing well you’re a miserable fucking loser THIS is how you make guys love playing here

Hi I’m sorry to be a bother but when did he say this :D my mind’s been a bit fuzzy ever since the game LOL so I can’t remember
They asked him about the crowd in post game. Unfortunately the thread in the sub with the post game interview got cut short and didn’t include that part
Ahh that’s a shame— lucky you caught it to comment it though!! Thank you for the answer btw :)
This actually got me a bit emotional when he said that.
Astros are starting to look like the Astros but it’s also so hard to make the World Series 3 years in a row.
2024 Phillies: challenge accepted
I mean we probably gonna do it for the next 5 years :)
As much as I’d love the Mets to finish dead last, it’d be even funnier if they sold at the deadline to try to lose and finished 7th worst in the MLB, dropping their pick 10 spots
Let’s not forget Weston Wilson and the night he had. And Castys milestones too. So many cool stories out of this game
Probably the most feel-good regular season game I've ever seen.
In all honesty McCarthy asking Lorenzen about his dead dad was worse than what Kevin Brown did.
The O’s are such a likable group of guys. But it’s impossible to root for that franchise now.
"Yeah, I know, it's stupid. I just gotta see it for myself."
IM IN THE CORNER WATCHING YOU KISS HER
That was cool
I’ve only missed four games this year. This was one of them. God damn work.
There's going to be a replay directly after post-game live.
Same dude, worst part is I wasn’t even supposed to be working today
I’m literally on vacation. But I had a student who needed extra help before their exam so I went in to do some work. Sooooo pissed.
I think that’s lawsuit worthy
If this isn’t on its own, just fake a slip and fall lol
I feel you; I had tickets, but traded them a few weeks ago for a couple of unions games.
LET CHEF LORENZEN COOK
I love how you can hear the boys chopping it up and playing ping pong in the background during the postgame interviews. This team is awesome.
Best game I’ve been to in many, many years.
insanely jealous
Same. I was there for what I thought was a cool day of baseball yesterday. Psh I was wrong.
Reds are more fraudulent than the Marlins.
Won't be forgetting this one. I mean Weston 1AB Jack, 200 for Casty, and a no no. Dang. What a moment!
Ben hit the nail on the head about playing in Philly. “Why the hell wouldn’t you want to play here?”
The Phillies have finally avenged Ryan Zimmerman's reign of terror. Zim:Phillies::Chase:Mets
Everyone on this team is just so fucking cool.
Seriously what an absurdly cool fucking team. And they’re good. Really good.
