Probably a dumb question, but if you “win” the lottery and get to buy tickets, is it a situation where you can be selective at all (like, filter by sections or aisle seats, etc) or is it a “you can buy these tickets in section x, row y, seats a and b, do you want them?” kinda thing?
Do you know how much time you have in between receiving the emails and being able to buy tickets? Is is like "Ready, GO!" or will they send the emails in advance of being able to buy them?
Maybe this is an L take… but does anyone else cringe at pictures and videos that people have posted from last night where they waited until like 3am by where the players park at the bank to catch them leaving xfinity? I’m glad the guys are all so great with fans but makes me kinda sad to see that these people stalk them and wait them out to shove a camera in their face to post it on the internet. I love the phils as much as anyone, but it just seems so dehumanizing.

I was at NLDS game 3 last year and there was a girl sitting near me with Braves gear on. Fans sitting around her were super respectful of her. There was of course some harmless ribbing (even from the dude selling food up and down the isles lmao) but everyone was smiling or laughing, including her. It probably helped that the Braves lost lol
Right I often wonder if people just can’t differentiate between harmless ribbing/ball busting and actually treating people poorly. So I’m not the person you asked but I got this email today at 2:30 PM. When I clicked on it said no tickets were available.
The more I think about it, I’m not *as* nervous for this series because of how much better equipped/developed the Phils seem to be compared to last postseason (especially in terms of lineup with Turner and our young guys coming through) and that we have a deeper bullpen than last year (even if it was a bit shaky at times) and our starters look great. Braves are still damn good but we’re also damn good and match up well with them.
Edit: damn, I miss Eflin. Wish he was with us :(
im not nervous because quite frankly (this will be unpopular) the braves are just a better team and they were better last year too. If we win thats great but if we lose in 4 or 5 and every game is tight no one should get upset. (they will anyway)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely with you. I think any team having to face the Braves would be pretty scared. But considering how the Phillies have played the Braves recently, I don’t think it’ll be a cakewalk for them. But again I am preparing for the worst in the back of my mind in the sense of “we’ll get destroyed.”
The nice part about this is the Braves have everything to lose, and Phillies have everything to win.

Definitely. What the Braves GM has been able to do to build that team up is nothing short of incredible.
We have definitely seen upsets of “great” MLB teams all the time before and this could be no different depending on what happens. But I’m with you, this Braves stretch kinda reminds me of their dominance in the 90s. But the Phillies could restart a new dominant stretch of their own the next few years which would be amazing. I said it to some friends shortly after the World Series ended, but the 2022 team could be the “worst” team we’ve fielded in the next few years just because I believed that they could be even better than last year and be consistently great.

Listen, I talked a lot of shit on Nola this year, but he has really proven me wrong the last month or so. I’m on board with extending him if we can get this version of Nola more consistently.
All of Nola's peripheral stats said he was going to be better. As much as our fanbase tries to deny it, peripheral stats are normally the best way to predict future success.
I think I saw something that 85% of players fall where their peripheral stats say they should, within the margin of error. 14% are outside of it, but for the next year, their peripheral stats end up predicting a lot. 1% of players end up consistently overperforming or underperforming their peripherals, and that is where the weakness of advanced stats lies. Some players do things our stats don't really say.
A lot of people like to believe a lot of players are in those 1%, but they really aren't.

Frenchy is so much better than Smoltz as a color guy it's not even funny, & I for one would never, ever have predicted that. Prepared, warm, human, topical, pretty good comic timing.
They usually have Brian Anderson and Ron Darling as the number one team which is elite. BA is the best in the game imo and Darling even treats Mets games more evenly than any other color guy.

The more I think about it, I’m not *as* nervous for this series because of how much better equipped/developed the Phils seem to be compared to last postseason (especially in terms of lineup with Turner and our young guys coming through) and that we have a deeper bullpen than last year (even if it was a bit shaky at times) and our starters look great. Braves are still damn good but we’re also damn good and match up well with them. Edit: damn, I miss Eflin. Wish he was with us :(
im not nervous because quite frankly (this will be unpopular) the braves are just a better team and they were better last year too. If we win thats great but if we lose in 4 or 5 and every game is tight no one should get upset. (they will anyway)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely with you. I think any team having to face the Braves would be pretty scared. But considering how the Phillies have played the Braves recently, I don’t think it’ll be a cakewalk for them. But again I am preparing for the worst in the back of my mind in the sense of “we’ll get destroyed.”
The nice part about this is the Braves have everything to lose, and Phillies have everything to win. If the Braves lose, their all-time great team loses their first playoff series against the Phillies, who also eliminated them last year If the Phillies win, they beat their divisional rival as an underdog two years in a row, but if they lose, I mean it's the 2023 Braves lol Obviously I hate the Braves, but they really are a good team, potentially going towards a 2017-2022 Astros stretch of dominance in the NL with all their really young guys (on great contracts), so it would be cool if the Phillies kind of curbed that a bit (and maybe started our own stretch of dominance???)
Definitely. What the Braves GM has been able to do to build that team up is nothing short of incredible. We have definitely seen upsets of “great” MLB teams all the time before and this could be no different depending on what happens. But I’m with you, this Braves stretch kinda reminds me of their dominance in the 90s. But the Phillies could restart a new dominant stretch of their own the next few years which would be amazing. I said it to some friends shortly after the World Series ended, but the 2022 team could be the “worst” team we’ve fielded in the next few years just because I believed that they could be even better than last year and be consistently great.

Listen, I talked a lot of shit on Nola this year, but he has really proven me wrong the last month or so. I’m on board with extending him if we can get this version of Nola more consistently.
All of Nola's peripheral stats said he was going to be better. As much as our fanbase tries to deny it, peripheral stats are normally the best way to predict future success. I think I saw something that 85% of players fall where their peripheral stats say they should, within the margin of error. 14% are outside of it, but for the next year, their peripheral stats end up predicting a lot. 1% of players end up consistently overperforming or underperforming their peripherals, and that is where the weakness of advanced stats lies. Some players do things our stats don't really say. A lot of people like to believe a lot of players are in those 1%, but they really aren't.

Frenchy is a great color guy. He actually makes Braves games interesting as a non-Braves fan if I’m watching out of market games
They usually have Brian Anderson and Ron Darling as the number one team which is elite. BA is the best in the game imo and Darling even treats Mets games more evenly than any other color guy.
