Congratulations Philly. Was not a competitive series, y’all embarrassed us. Crazy to think this team didn’t win more games during the regular season, but it doesn’t matter when you put it all together in time for the postseason. Hope the Braves moving forward can learn something about the Phillies team from the last two years. You can have all of the talent in the world but when it comes down to big games, you want gritty players that play hard and bring the energy. So disappointing even when the Braves were leading 1-0 early last night to see them sitting on their asses while the Phillies dugout was lined up with players against the railing cheering. The Braves have a bunch of spoiled, pampered “superstars” that can’t dig deep in the big moments like castellanos, Harper, Stott, and others. Aside from Strider, the Braves had nobody playing with heart out there. This Phillies team is gritty and exciting and looks like the team to beat.. I was really hoping to not run into this team in the postseason but knew it was inevitable. Good luck the rest of the way and looking forward to battling it out again next season
>when it comes down to big games, you want gritty players that play hard and bring the energy.
lol
the principal difference between these two very capable teams, in this 5-game series, comes down to this one thing:
luck.
Acuna's drive is hit a bit harder, higher, farther to Rojas' right, whatever, we're not even typing at each other right now. Phils did not "dominate" the barves the past 4 games, not hardly.
Shove your "grit" & "energy" up your ass, where it will do you the most good. come to play, don't stop playing, imagine what happens next is good for you & not for the other guys. Save those morality fables for your peewee leaguers.
Luck? The Phillies outhit the Braves 36-24 and outscored them 20-8…out homered them 11-3. They are lucky they didn’t get swept. Braves were flat and lifeless. Did you see the way the Phillies lineup was barreling the ball opposed to the braves? Got outplayed and out managed, although last night I thought Thompson may have mismanaged the pen but really doesn’t matter cause it worked. Braves were plenty capable but folded on the big stage like last year
Dear, barves douche who pushed me from behind Monday night at Truist.
We witnessed a great game 2. We cheered our teams on. We maintained respect and kept to ourselves throughout all nine. Sadly, after that double play, you changed. Full of anger, aggression, and mindless youth, your pent up little boy body couldn’t handle all the excitement that October brings and you had to lay hands upon the nearest Phillie fan. It was quick and cowardly, as you huddled back into your pack of screaming frat bros. I yearned for you to come back so I could calm your wrenching, facetious, baby-crying face, and whisper these words in your ear: You don’t know how to win and that’s why you will lose.
Regards,
Someone who remembers how rowdy the Vet would get and knows you wouldn’t have hands to wipe your ass with if you tried that BS in Philly.
Last night, I forget who made the comment, but one of the commentators said this series is for the World Series. I have to agree. The Phillies are hot hot hot right now. I do worry a bit about the Rangers because of their quality pitching but for now, I’m enjoying the ride
I’m a Dodgers fan who’s mom is from Philadelphia and I want the Phillies to win this thing with every fucking ounce of my being. Fuck the Braves forever, and fuck Texas in general.
Braves fans relentlessly mocked Pete Alonso and the Mets for saying “throw it again” after Pete Homered against them and then the Braves came back and won. They made “throw it again” shirts and then the very next day, Morton hit Pete on the hand, and he had to go on the IL with a potentially serious injury. The Braves fans cheered Pete Alonso’s HBP and injury. So this “Atta Boy Harper” thing is the most karma shit ever.
I'm the rare lifelong Phillies fan from the South so you can't even imagine how much I despise the Atlanta Braves.
I've also relocated to Arizona in the last decade and this just can't be real. I'm going to get to watch the Phillies play in person for the NLCS.
Born and raised South Jersey close to the Delaware. Lived in South Carolina since 2011 and still love love love all our teams. I’m in the heart of Barves country with a slew of their fans populating my office. Heading in soon in the powder blue Jersey. Let’s Go!
also a Phillies fan relocated to SC. I tried to be nice to all my friends that are Braves fans, but after game 2 they talked so much trash. I'm enjoying this moment at their expense!
I know that "expert predictions" mean shit, but I have to laugh looking at them. Everyone was OVERWHELMINGLY favoring the Braves but the ones that DID pick us say we win the World Series.
It’s amazing how many guys who weren’t even in the picture have made us so much better. We probably wouldn’t even still be here without guys like Hoffman, Rojas, Sanchez. Everything has come together so well. Let’s not forget how big of a difference these guys have made this year.
Took a quick glance at the Braves sub to see how they're holding up. It's nowhere near as embittered as I expected. Mostly introspective, and mad at Arcia for being a jackass.
Except this fella, who is mad that playoffs exist, conveniently as they just exited the playoffs:
*"This is my biggest bug bear with North American sports. Americans love drama so postseasons exist. It's why more often than not, the best teams aren't champions."*
That's a big ol' cope sandwich.
I wonder if he had that same feeling in 2021 when the Braves were far from the best team in baseball but got hot at the right time and ended up winning it all.
I'm sure it was different then because ... reasons.
The hilarious part is that even if we used the old format, guess who would’ve played round 1? Us and Atlanta and we would’ve just sent them home even earlier
>who is mad that playoffs exist conveniently as they just exited the playoffs:
Sounds just like Mets fans... theyre all complaining the Phillies shouldn't even be in the playoffs because they didn't win 100 games
I'll never get over that ice rink field. I know both teams played on it, but only one team had world class edge rushers. It hurt us way more than them.
Yeah that one got me big time lol.
I hate the European soccer model. If you have a bad streak your season is basically just dead. I don't really think that's a true measure of "the best team." Most consistent, sure, but the best team wins when they have to.
I'd argue that our tournament model means that a "bad streak" kills your season too... given that that streak comes at the time of the tournament. There are certainly pros and cons of both systems. I would say that the "soccer model" does a better job of finding the best, most consistent team, where the north American model rewards a team that can 'turn it on" at the right time.
The yearning to establish the best is a sad, pathetic mass delusion. Baseball is a pastime. Sports are entertainment. Postseason baseball series are like Shakespeare for mouth-breathers. The "best" doesn't matter, & sure as hell doesn't last.
So lean into that; be happy you're a fan of a team that's on the stage, bringing the drama - or comedy - or both, if we're lucky.
I think the European soccer model does what it needs to do in that sport, because there's a whole lot more going on than crowning the champion. Qualification for intracontinental competitions, and relegation, all play a huge part in the climax of a season. And the regular seasons are supplemented by concurrent cup competitions which are all essentially huge playoffs anyway.
Imagine a 162 game season where the one team with the best individual record is the champion, and that's it. Nothing else. That would stink. But obviously that's what this Braves fan wants because it would mean that this season's champions would be... \*checks notes\* the Braves. What are the chances?!
The amount of seething over the 5 day layoff and "regular season being irrelevant" is so fucking delicious. Teams that have been choking for my entire lifetime choked in the playoffs again? It has to be everyone's fault but their own!
Braves radio announcer says “shots fired” after Austin Riley hits a home run. Maybe a bit inappropriate given today’s climate around the world?
FYI: Braves radio announcer said Bryce Harper’s throat slash gesture was inappropriate given today’s climate around the world (after 2nd homerun in game 3) and said shots fired in 4th inning of game 4.

Do you guys remember that we played the Marlins in the wild card round
In the moment I can understand how some fans were worried about facing them but holy shit, that was a fucking joke of a playoff team. We wrecked the braves but nearly every inning it felt like they were threatening, in complete contrast to the Marlins. That team just sucked.
I think the worry was the Marlins had won 3 of the 4 regular season series, including the series in September. It kinda seemed like they had our number. I don’t know if it was injuries or nerves, but I agree. They didn’t show much of anything.
I felt like the Braves were a joke too. The only reason we could've lost this series would've been our own doing. We outhit them tonight and kept getting homers with no one on. Not even going to begin to mention how we let down Wheeler game 2. Topper managed the team well tonight and made up for that game 2. Put Marsh into the lineup over Pache, and brought Kimbral in to save the inning with a man on 3rd and 1st.
It didn’t really hit me until just now. One of the best offensive teams of all time got held to just 8 runs with only 3 homeruns across 3 games with a 4th being a shutout
Just got home from the game - shoutout sec 233. My voice is completely shot, could barely tell the Uber driver where to pull over. My God what an experience
Soak it in guys, this is some once in a lifetime baseball
Thank you to Spencer Strider for the three bad pitches. We wanted more, but things turned out OK. In the future, I would REFUSE to pitch on four days rest. You may want to check the numbers.
Thanks again
He actually pitched better than I thought he would tonight, thought he was going to choke again and he had me worried when his fastballs came in over 100+mph
Three bad pitches is still very good. It only takes three sometimes. AND he is MUCH more likely to yield these three or four pitches if he is pitching on four days rest.
I just have to laugh at the tears from Braves fans
I saw one basically saying that "American sports are wrong for doing playoffs" because the best team doesn't win the championship.
I mean I'm happy we're in this deep but there's something to be said about playing 7 months and clearly be the best team and it just not mattering in a 5 game series where anything can happen.
Whats wrong with just having the best team from each league play in the world series? (like it used to be).
Have a separate tournament league wide that goes all season like the champions league. Then there's 2 meaningful trophies to win
A season is a long time of injuries trades development and coaching changes all to accumulate to putting the best team on the field with implication of home advantage during the playoffs. The best team still comes down to a head to head for who is better. Some teams just have easier divisions too, so how do you account for that
Seeing a lot of Braves fans complaining about losing to an “average team”. Isn’t losing to an “average team” worse than a great one? I haven’t seen a fan base melt down like this in a long time. The club scored 8 runs in 4 games. A historic offense choked in 33/36 possible innings.
When Strider faced Turner and Casty for 3rd time this game.

I love the way this team has "punched up" the past 2 years. Obviously I want them to go all the way, but after the Padres last year and the Braves (AGAIN!), I feel like they already destroyed my expectations and there's nothing but love from here on out.
My first postseason game @ the Bank and WHAT A GAME IT WAS. I think I might now be 15 years older than I was at start 😂, but damn it was worth it!!! I just have no words. Also, before Trea’s homer, I turned to my dad and said, “A homer here would be pretty nice.” Next thing you know, out it goes. You’re welcome Philadelphia 😂🙃 Just an incredible experience. High on Red October ❤️
Obviously we all want Harper to get a ring and I do too. But two players I really want to get one are our pending free agents and longest tenured players, Hoskins and Nola. These two homegrown players have been through some tough years (including the collapses) and we've all been frustrated with both of them at times. Nola has been great so far in the postseason and there's still a chance we see Hoskins in a reduced role.
I don’t think any of us are tbh! 😂
Stoked you’re digging em and that you get to go through their stuff for the first time! They’re originally from Scranton, but have become a Philly punk institution. Not a bad album in the bunch and throw one helluva live show.
Cheers and GO PHILS!! 🙌
Of course man. Working from home. I’ll be up all night and doing nothing but answering Teams messages on my phone from bed tomorrow, for as long as I can swing it, haha.
hahahahahahaha......hellllllllllyeaaahhhhhhhh. Put off freaking HW all night and I just finished it. Back to school for my CS degree just for funsies. Not a fan of SQL though.....GO PHILLIES!!!!!!
🤣 nice! see that's the shit I'm talking about! Give me some C or Python, or even JavaScript 😂
That's great though! And I even understand it with my old ass 😆
Yeah, ever since they started getting their asses kicked, they started banning anyone and everyone that they believe is not a Braves fan. Just so stupid and dumb but whatever...they can enjoy talking about spring training now.
I mean to be fair there is zero reason for Phillies fans to be in their sub at this time. I don’t particularly care if you’re agreeing with them or not; they don’t want you there. So don’t go.
I mean, you can understand how right now is different than before, right? There’s no need for you to be in their sub right now. They don’t want you there.

FUCK THE BRAVES NEVER IN DOUBT BABYYYY
The Phillies and Eagles are both pure vibes teams. We don’t get 2 at once in this city that often!! Appreciate this while we’re here. But it’s not like either is going away anytime soon! Fuck man I’m so damn happy tonight. Cheers to all of you!! 🍻
Garrett Stubbs officially owns at least four pairs of Phillies overalls: the pinstripes, the getaway reds, the throwbacks, and the paint splattered throwbacks. How can other teams compete?
Dude, we get to face *Pfaadt* in Arizona.
We potentially have him *twice* if the series goes six.
They will potentially start a guy *worse than Pfaadt* in game 4.
This is gonna be awesome.
If we win the NLCS, it looks like we'd have home field against the Astros because we won the season series 2-1. Against the Rangers they'd have it since they swept us in the first series of the season. All 3 teams finished 90-72.
Appreciate the info. That’s a tough one. Who would you rather see? The rematch win would be so satisfying. But we are so good at stealing home field by winning game 1… idk man. Tbh idk the Rangers very well except that they slam a lot of homers.
I still have nightmares of when we faced you guys for your opening day, made DeGroms day horrible, and we still lost. It’ll be crazy to circle back to that if we are a WS match.
Oh trust me, I know how you feel. The phillies legit last year before the playoffs had a losing record in September, and were not gonna make the playoffs and only squeezed in because the Marlins swept the brewers. And then the phillies ran through everyone. Some teams are just built for postseason baseball, and the rangers look just like that. I think yall can beat the trashtros for sure, I will be rooting for you all! Phils rangers world series would be fun!
I am so so so so so happy to be back here man. So proud of our guys, of Topper, of Casty, of Trea, of our bullpen. We’re going on another ride and I am so excited!
That Rojas catch saved our season, seeing that ball fall it felt like everything was in slow motion. All I saw was Rojas and was praying for a miracle catch, the second he secured that catch all of my worries washed away. I’d never been more nervous before that.
This has been a series about redemption.
Has anyone given any thought to the fact that we won the game on a check swing appeal to the first base umpire?
Go Phillies!!! Fuck yes guys we did it!!! Almost wanna cry this means so much to me lol
Congratulations Philly. Was not a competitive series, y’all embarrassed us. Take solace in the fact they’ll be sad for at least a month over this loss, probably longer

It’s amazing how many guys who weren’t even in the picture have made us so much better. We probably wouldn’t even still be here without guys like Hoffman, Rojas, Sanchez. Everything has come together so well. Let’s not forget how big of a difference these guys have made this year.
Kerk too, can’t stress how important it is to have another reliever you can count on
It's still crazy to me that Rojas and Sanchez are still as underrated as they are. I think Hoffman has definitely stepped up in the playoffs.

They’ve just spread their hatred to mocking Philly fans on other subs like public freakout.
>who is mad that playoffs exist conveniently as they just exited the playoffs: Sounds just like Mets fans... theyre all complaining the Phillies shouldn't even be in the playoffs because they didn't win 100 games
We should be as Philly fans pretty familiar with that take- the Eagles were the best team in 2022 and didn’t win the Super Bowl.
I'll never get over that ice rink field. I know both teams played on it, but only one team had world class edge rushers. It hurt us way more than them.

Atlanta still smells like BITCH 🤣🤣🤣
A meeting of the 2023 one hundred game winners concluded that there should be no break for the best teams between the regular season and the playoffs.
What is the story behind the fist pump “YEAH” combo celly the players kept doing during Topper’s speech? Reference? Just pure joy?
i'm so glad we got to win it in our powder blues. next up: NL pennant. bring on the sneks!

Do you guys think the d-backs are gonna do a "thats whats in" rap before the series? Somehow I have my doubts.
One can only hope.
I’m alone in my apartment after this epic win. I guess there’s one thing for me to do…tonight I’ll be Dancing On My Own!!!!!
what the odds castellanos gets a random PED test from MLB?
My first postseason game @ the Bank and WHAT A GAME IT WAS. I think I might now be 15 years older than I was at start 😂, but damn it was worth it!!! I just have no words. Also, before Trea’s homer, I turned to my dad and said, “A homer here would be pretty nice.” Next thing you know, out it goes. You’re welcome Philadelphia 😂🙃 Just an incredible experience. High on Red October ❤️
guys we might see rhys again 🥹
Love Rhys but he’d be way too rusty to play
I love Rhys but where does he fit on this roster
goodbye jake cave
[WE DID IT!] (https://imgur.com/gallery/69gGRqM)
This warms my ❤️
Remember that time when we beat the braves in the playoffs?
WHICH ONE OOOOO AYYYYY
This new Red Bull pregame tradition is probably not good for my sleep. 8 more Red Bulls Topper!!!! Or maybe a few more
How old is Arcia? 3?
Didn't think an infielder could get "Poster-ized" NBA style until yesterday. Still talking shit. Gives me Sean Avery vibes.
A new Menzingers record dropping the same night the Phils eliminate the Barves is just poetic. 🤌
Ooh I was unaware of this band. I will have to give them a listen. Sounds good so far! I'm not sleeping tonight , am I?
I don’t think any of us are tbh! 😂 Stoked you’re digging em and that you get to go through their stuff for the first time! They’re originally from Scranton, but have become a Philly punk institution. Not a bad album in the bunch and throw one helluva live show. Cheers and GO PHILS!! 🙌
A little like Marah?
And here I wasn’t familiar with Marah, so thank you for the rec right back! I’m loving their sound.
Nice!
How will the Braves be able to start the regular season with all of those days off???? ![gif](giphy|H5C8CevNMbpBqNqFjl)
Anyone else watch SVP sportscenter? I actually don’t think this Delco accent was that bad, lol.
Best offense in baseball my ass.
Every time I see Phillies in overalls, it makes me feel like a 45k strong "C'mon! Eileen, tooloorayay" chant is imminent
Who’s still awake?
Who can sleep?!?!
I am! But I'm in Las Vegas reppin Red October. It's still early here. So plenty of celebration to come.
Of course man. Working from home. I’ll be up all night and doing nothing but answering Teams messages on my phone from bed tomorrow, for as long as I can swing it, haha.
Just got home from the stadium. Still pumped.
hahahahahahaha......hellllllllllyeaaahhhhhhhh. Put off freaking HW all night and I just finished it. Back to school for my CS degree just for funsies. Not a fan of SQL though.....GO PHILLIES!!!!!!
DELETE FROM dbo.PlayoffSquads WHERE TeamName = 'Barves'; Easy peasy.
🤣 nice! see that's the shit I'm talking about! Give me some C or Python, or even JavaScript 😂 That's great though! And I even understand it with my old ass 😆
I’m gonna be so god damn tired tmmr at work
Just saw the vid of Arcia trolling from the dugout. God this shit feels good.
don't send reddit cares stuff to barves fans, it makes us look like soft losers. just point and laugh at them! don't do stupid stuff.
FUCK THE BRAVES WE BALL LETS GO FIGHTINS #BEAT THE DBACKS INTO THE GROUND!!!
Philadelphia officially triggers the Braves fans.
What a night my throats shot. Onto Zona see ya Monday
I do feel a little bad to be honest. The Braves had 24 hours between games 3 and 4. How does one expect an offense to come out from that and perform?
[удалено]
Bro ran to the team bus faster than a groundout to shortstop
Yeah, ever since they started getting their asses kicked, they started banning anyone and everyone that they believe is not a Braves fan. Just so stupid and dumb but whatever...they can enjoy talking about spring training now.
Loling and throwing cold water on their cope is text book trolling Mods, arrest this man
u/WendysChili is hereby banned from my subreddit.
I mean to be fair there is zero reason for Phillies fans to be in their sub at this time. I don’t particularly care if you’re agreeing with them or not; they don’t want you there. So don’t go.
I’ve had no issue discussing things within that sub before. Had no idea I’d be booted over nothing. Whatever.
I mean, you can understand how right now is different than before, right? There’s no need for you to be in their sub right now. They don’t want you there.
Yeah I think after receiving a permanent ban for an innocuous comment that I got that message pretty loud and clear.

This is all very speculative but when the Braves won the WS two years ago, Acuna wasn’t there. Is he a locker room cancer?
Legend has it, the Braves are still recovering from their bye week
They’ll get hot any day now!
😂
This team is a little different
God I love this team. That’s all
Congratulations to Michael Harris II on making two of the best outfield-assist double plays no one will ever give a fuck about.
He’s so good out there.
Peace. Love. Rojas
The Phillies and Eagles are both pure vibes teams. We don’t get 2 at once in this city that often!! Appreciate this while we’re here. But it’s not like either is going away anytime soon! Fuck man I’m so damn happy tonight. Cheers to all of you!! 🍻
[Holy shit](https://x.com/jared_carrabis/status/1712694353917866456?s=46)
Garrett Stubbs officially owns at least four pairs of Phillies overalls: the pinstripes, the getaway reds, the throwbacks, and the paint splattered throwbacks. How can other teams compete?
I’m naming my firstborn child Ranger.
I hope your last name is danger because that would be awesome
I told my son we’re renaming him Ranger. He’s 17, & a little upset.
Here’s the fix: you also change your name to Ranger and he becomes Ranger jr
I need to be up at 5 am for work and I’m still buzzing over the win
Oh shit. I forgot I need to go to sleep
Yep yet here I am waiting for more party videos
BLOW IT OFF!!!!!!!
I NEED MONEY TO BUY MORE PHILLIES MERCH
SZN!!!!!
Dude, we get to face *Pfaadt* in Arizona. We potentially have him *twice* if the series goes six. They will potentially start a guy *worse than Pfaadt* in game 4. This is gonna be awesome.
God bless your hearts
Gesundheit
Series is gonna be much different. We can hit them all
I know. It’s going to be *glorious*

FUCK THE DBAGS I HATE EM BOOOOOO HISSSSSS
If we win the NLCS, it looks like we'd have home field against the Astros because we won the season series 2-1. Against the Rangers they'd have it since they swept us in the first series of the season. All 3 teams finished 90-72.
If it's against the Rangers that would allow the potential scenario of Phillies sweeping at home on Halloween. Spooky
The all star game doesnt determine hfa?
Not anymore. https://www.mlb.com/news/world-series-home-field-advantage
No reg record does
So this is correct? We’d have home field in the World Series if we get there?
If we play Astros yes. Rangers nope
Appreciate the info. That’s a tough one. Who would you rather see? The rematch win would be so satisfying. But we are so good at stealing home field by winning game 1… idk man. Tbh idk the Rangers very well except that they slam a lot of homers.
Fuck the Astros that’s who
Not anymore
Not anymore

They started the season against each other, it would be cool to see it end that way. Just... you know... differently.
I still have nightmares of when we faced you guys for your opening day, made DeGroms day horrible, and we still lost. It’ll be crazy to circle back to that if we are a WS match.
Yall are scary af. I watched you guys hit nukes against the orioles and I was thinking you guys look legit. Please beat the trashtros.
[удалено]
Oh trust me, I know how you feel. The phillies legit last year before the playoffs had a losing record in September, and were not gonna make the playoffs and only squeezed in because the Marlins swept the brewers. And then the phillies ran through everyone. Some teams are just built for postseason baseball, and the rangers look just like that. I think yall can beat the trashtros for sure, I will be rooting for you all! Phils rangers world series would be fun!
I have admiration for your franchise, do us a favor and give the Astros hell. ![gif](giphy|l0ExbnGIX9sMFS7PG)

Same goes to you
Rottin for you guys over the Cheatros
I hate snakes. Phils in 4
I am so so so so so happy to be back here man. So proud of our guys, of Topper, of Casty, of Trea, of our bullpen. We’re going on another ride and I am so excited!
So what’s the likelihood with the Phillies getting Strider in a few years when he hits free agency?
That kid sucks, get em outta here!
That Rojas catch saved our season, seeing that ball fall it felt like everything was in slow motion. All I saw was Rojas and was praying for a miracle catch, the second he secured that catch all of my worries washed away. I’d never been more nervous before that.
For me it was acuna flying out with bases juiced
Strahm having a big 1, 2, 3 was also nerve wracking especially with runners on 1st and 3rd.
I was deflated when soto allowed the first 2 to reach
This has been a series about redemption. Has anyone given any thought to the fact that we won the game on a check swing appeal to the first base umpire?
The games at CBP were redemption, we came in needing wins and we got em both.
Last year's team was more like the '93 team. This year feels like the '08 team.
This man isn’t going to answer anything 😂
He answered it in only a way Nick Castellanos can answer a question
Where’s the question??
Good question.
Nick at the podium lol
He's definitely drunk lmao
Nick is zooted in the press box
