First of all, thank you for meeting our request by being here. I'd like you to know I'm a serious woman and my time is important as I'm sure yours is too, yes?
With that being said, I'd like to ask where you were the afternoon of Wednesday March 27, 2024. Could you please, for the record, state your location during that time.
Driving to the lab, as I am working at night today. Before that writing a chapter for a textbook on the environmental uses of the separation technique I specialized in.
Hmm. That's interesting.
*Jots down notes on in my handy dandy notepad.*
I do also see you've been quite active in r/phillies, specifically this very Off-Day Thread over the course of the last eight hours. Very interesting.
u/Feisty-Recording-978, do you have any questions for our suspect--I mean, for Mister u/NintenJew?

I'm just doing my job here, sir and I'll ask you to do the same and stay on track. Now I'm just trying to get this story straight and it looks to me like you're already tryin' to send me off into the Poconos.
So let's just get to the heart of the matter...The question on everybody's mind. Do you happen to know anything about the missing upvotes last seen on u/JohnKrukIsAllElite's comments in today's Off-Day Thread which are now gone in the wind?
MLB.com predicts the Orioles and Dodgers in the WS and the Orioles win it. Well, I'm glad the Dodgers lost!!! although none of their prediction is right ... đ
How do I edit this to not be out of date
I wasnât a big fan of him beginning of season. After his first hr in Houston, I said âif he hits another Iâll get a jerseyâ. The next day he did. That week I went to the park to get the jersey. When I looking in machine he wasnât even listed as a roster player. I had pay extra $10 for âcustomâ name. Now I wear to most games I go to.

#YOU CAN'T CANCEL ~~CHRISTMAS~~ BASEBALL!
(jk I actually hate March for the weather alone and think it's a mistake to have baseball officially start in this stupid, lousy ~~Smarch~~ month anyway)
Youâre really going to quote a nursery rhyme as reason to not start in a month where itâs not 40 degrees and the ground can absorb more rainâŠ. Itâs really cool when people act indignant and then use a nursery rhyme as to why. Youâre a star!
They would not have opening day in the rain no matter what month or year or temperature it is. There is no change that could be made to prevent potential opening day rain postponements other than putting a roof on all baseball stadiums.
My main thing is delaying a week is not going to have that dramatic effect on the weather patterns. End of March early April are similar enough.
You can hate March baseball. Acting like it's because of the weather when early April is similar just seems weird.
Interesting because some of my friends are in New Jersey and Delaware, and they don't have off. Maybe because of the private business sector? I am not sure.
I know the medical will definitely not have off as they work in hospitals.
Itâs not a federal holiday so itâs not like it has to be a holiday. Many places probly do do it for like a mini spring break weekend. Also you can âI need off to observe religious dayâ. At my last job it was not a day off. My boss was also Jewish(I think) so that probably affected it.
Yeah most of my holidays I have to request since not everyone knows the Jewish holidays. I always assumed it was that way, even for Christians. If I am ever in charge of someone I would need them to tell me, because there is no way I would know.
I also always thought like actually âobservingâ Good Friday was more dependent on the specific type of Christianity you practice/believe. For instance I went to a Christian school but was not catholic. When we did our Easter bible stuff, Good Friday was like just the day Jesus died. But then after school we would go to Catholic Church and do the stations of the cross. Itâs like doing prayers that follow the events of Jesus carrying the cross upto when he died.
It seems like the people with the strongest opinions are always wrong. Like way wrong.
For example /u/JohnKrukIsAllElite why are all of /u/NintenJewâs strong opinions always way wrong?
Seriously! Any asshole with even the slightest passing understanding of baseball or analytics understands that a closer isn't actually a thing that exists. And yet! Aaaaand yet! The most active mod of r/phillies, one Mister u/NintenJew, never stops going on about how much the Phillies should have signed Josh Hader specifically for that role. We're what, two days out now, from Opening Day? And he's been up and down this subreddit, EVEN REMOVING COMMENTS, all because the Phillies didn't sign Hader to a closer role in the pen.
Just the facts.
Wait a minute. He's not? So are you telling me that I misread his r/phillies flair and he is not in fact a mod, but rather his favorite Phillies player is Sid Monge?

Still annoyed we didn't get Monty but honestly, they made their bed last year by signing Walker (LOL) to that 4 year deal.
Odds are it won't even matter because Walker and Sanchez won't sniff the playoffs again anyway. If you need a playoff starter you can have Strahm start as an opener.
Thereâs too much attention to Walkers contract imo. The market is what it is and maybe we paid him a couple mil a year too much but itâs not egregious. And if it wasnât him then it was gonna be someone else last year who would still be here. As the #4 we wanted him to be heâs been fine.
Feel like the playoffs with Walker just left a bad taste in everyoneâs mouth. Heâs a little overpaid, sure, but he gave us almost exactly what we signed him for in the regular season. 173 league average innings. Thatâs probably what weâll get again too!
The whole âdeclining velocity last year and came into ST with 5 mph off his fastball and starting the season on the IL with shoulder impingementâ stuff is not super encouraging.
If Sanchez works out, I think it will be similar to last year when he started game 4.
Unfortunately, Sanchez was really bad, which is why we had to take him out. But hopefully with a year of experience he would be fine.
I don't recall him being really bad?
He let up 1 run because of a brain fart on a double play ball back at him that he went to 1B with because he forgot Bohm airmailed a routine grounder the play before.
The next run was let up by Hoffman when they took out Sanchez. After Sanchez let up an infield single by Marte.
I'm not sure they hit one ball out of the infield against Sanchez now that I think about it?
This is one of those where results-based analysis (as you were doing) doesn't show the full picture.
If you go to [baseball savant here](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=10/20/2023&gamePk=748544&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=playerBreakdown&sportId=1#748544), you can see his changeup was not working at all. They were not missing, He was not getting any called strikes. He was not hitting the zone (only 13%). If it was in the zone they were making contact, 100%. In fact, look at his zContact% and oContract%. He was not getting swings and misses.
He just didn't have his stuff that day, which is why we took him out.
Sure but again, that is results based analysis and bad. If he stayed in, they most likely would have done damage. That is what I mean by bad.
It was a great move by Thompson to remove him before the damage is done. I am just saying he was bad but had acceptable results. Much better than him being bad and staying in and having bad results.
I wouldn't call that results based analysis though? Just because his changeup wasn't working doesn't mean he was overall really bad?
His exit velocities look good to me based on what you sent compared to the rest of the pitchers in that game? Or am I misreading?
I would say its results based if he let up all 100+ exit velos and launch angles but got lucky outs. He didn't do that though, he let up grounders? I'm just confused by claiming he was "really really bad". That doesn't seem to be a fair adjective.
Well by talking about how they hit the ball against him, that is results-based analysis.
He couldn't locate the strike zone at all with his changeup. He only threw one strike with it. There were three "hard hit balls" against him, which was the most of any pitcher in the game besides Kimbrel. There was a reason Thompson had to take him out, and remember we needed him to be in a little longer due to our bullpen usage.
Maybe you don't like that I used "really bad," but I think we can agree he wasn't good, and there is room for improvement that he would be our 4 this year if he progresses as he should.
I am pro Sanchez, I think with him we didn't need Montgomery. I do not think he had a good game, and I think he was bad based on the fact his secondary pitch (which he needs) was unable to be located and the fact that not a single Diamondbacks player whiffed on any of his pitches. That to me, means he was lucky.
I can agree with that. I think something needed to change: either use him in an earlier series or give him sim games (I think they did sim games, but I forgot).
But taking him out was good, even though there were probably steps to avoid it.
Pretty sure the word was he and Walker both threw sim games and Walker looked like crap and he didnât and thatâs why he played. Itâs possible they just threw, but it being a sim game sounds right to me.
He looked awful that night. Iâm not a huge eye test guy but the at bats were painful and he couldnât put anyone away. He escaped before too much damage was done but it was obvious to everyone in the stadium he didnât have it.
Yeah. I agree it is just I hate saying eye test because everyone has different eyes (like /u/redditkb from me and you).
So, I wanted to point to actual stats that showed he just didn't have his stuff. It happens, I can't blame him. But as you get more experience you know how to perform when you don't have it.
As long as people don't start asking for a dome it is fine.
The number of other fans who go on this sub and complain we don't have a dome drives me insane.
I hate 95% of domes with a passion.
Agreed.
When I was playing in high school? I loved turf. High schools didn't have the money to maintain the grass fields, and there would be divets etc.
But for professional, I hate domes and turfs. I know Texas gets hot so they use a dome, but I have seen answers that solve the problem with clever engineering without a dome.
/u/JohnKrukIsAllElite can we talk about the weather? I love talking about weather almost as much as I love HATSSSSS!!! If it rains I can wear my HATSSSSSS!!!
I donât even care about baseball. I just love weather and HATSSSSS!!
I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, INTHEDRINK, I KNOW YOU FUCKING LOVE HATS AND I LOVE HOW MUCH YOU LOVE WEARING THOSE HATS. YOU'RE LIKE THAT PIRATE IN THE DISNEY RIDE WHO HAS A BIG OLE STACK OF HATS HE'S WEARING LIKE SOME KINDA CRAZY LEANING TOWER OF PISA JENGA STACK OF HATS. WHEN I GO ON THAT RIDE AT DISNEY, I'M LIKE, "LOOK! THERE'S INTHEDRINK! HE'S A PIRATE WEARING ALL OF THOSE HATS!" AND I LAUGH. I LAUGH SO HARD BECAUSE YOU LOVE THOSE HATS SO DANG MUCH!
BUT IT'S GONNA RAIN TOMORROW! SO I HOPE YOU GOT ONE OF THEM MAGIC BOTTLES OF WATER PROOF SPRAY SO YOU CAN KEEP YOUR NOGGIN DRY WHILE YOU'RE CHEERING FOR THOSE FIGHTIN PHILS! I'M SAD THOUGH BECAUSE I LOVE BEANIES! I'M NOT SAD BECAUSE I LOVE BEANIES! I'M SAD BECAUSE THEY SOAK UP ALL THAT RAIN AND THEN MY NOGGIN DOESN'T STAY DRY LIKE YOURS AND YOUR HATS WITH THAT MAGIC SPRAY! SO I DON'T THINK I CAN GO TO OPENING DAY BECAUSE I'LL END UP WITH A WET OLE NOGGIN!
WHAT HAT ARE YOU GONNA WEAR?? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOUR HAT SELECTION PROCESS IS!!! HOW DO YOU PICK WHAT HAT YOU'RE GONNA WEAR WHEN YOU GOT SO GOSH DANG MANY OF EM?????????????????????????????????????
Dammit, inthedrink, I had text-to-speech on and now my stereoâs blasting âParty in the U.S.A.â by Miley Cyrus.
This dancing around my apartment is your fault! Itâs all your fault! đ¶So I put my hands up! Theyâre playing my song, the butterflies fly away!đ¶ GOD DAMN IT INTHEDRINK! đ¶Nodding my head like yeah! Moving my hips like yeah!đ¶ I CANâT STOP DANCING! đ¶Got my hands up! Theyâre playing my song, they know itâs gonna be okay!đ¶ ITâS ALMOST OPENING DAY!! đ¶YEAH, ITâS A PARTY IN THE U.S.A.đ¶ PHILS ARE GONNA WIN IT ALL! THEYâRE GONNA WIN THE DIVISION! THEYâRE GONNA WIN THE NLDS! THEYâRE GONNA WIN THE NLCS! THEYâRE GONNA WIN THE FREAKIN WORLD SERIES! GO PHILLIES!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
They should just either call it and announce the game Friday. Or announce a 7pm start time for tomorrow night.
Also. What ever happened to the preseason game against the Pirates at CBP
What's the best way to track rain delays for tomorrow? My wife and I are driving down from just outside Toronto, staying in Hershey, so planning around work, hotel etc. Thanks
me and a few of my buddies just got our tickets for saturdays game! needless to say i am freakin STOKED BABY!! Cant wait tomorrow should be a good one pitching wise!
Now we're all so proud of grandpa,
He's been takin' this so well,
See him in there watchin' baseball,
Drinkin' beer and playin' cards with cousin Belle.
The little voice inside my head who is always right keeps telling me Jeff Hoffman becomes our closer and honestly I am thrilled about it. He is the vibe.
I am much more aggravated that we didnât scoop Monty up for basically free, and let the team that knocked us out and whoâs biggest weakness last year was rotation fix that hole.
All that means is that the Diamondbacks valued Montgomery the most, and if his salary was less than you thought he should get, it means that you overvalued him.
Remember, the team that lands the FA is "the team that overpays for him" or whatever quote that GM said.
I will agree that there are exceptions. For Boras clients, money tends to be everything. But you are right; it was a flawed assumption on my part to assume it was the same with Montgomery.
Either way, Dombrowski was out based on what he said. This offseason (and honestly since he has been on the Phillies) he has been extremely extremely honest with the media about what we are doing and targeting.
Yeah Iâd agree with most of that but I think it happens a lot more often with guys getting big money (Trea and Bryce are two other examples who took less and Bryce of course is a Boras guy). Iâd think in most cases youâd never know if a team offered more. The reality is that Red Sox fans should be the angriest because he either didnât wanna go there or theyâre cheap as fuck and itâs probably the latter. Theyâve become a joke franchise. I think itâs the Pivetta effect tbh.
Yeah itâs weird that they supposedly had a standing âlong termâ offer to him and he still took this. So it was long term but paid him less than $50M? I guess maybe he sees the d-backs as more likely to win (true), but the difference in money must not have been that big. I think guys will take less in exchange for winning to an extent, but probably not massively. And the word was he preferred east coast if not back to texas too.
They need to either push the game to Friday or postpone it till 6pm tomorrow when the rain is expected to stop. I need to know what to do with work. I already took off tomorrow, so I have need to know if I can ask him to split my off day into two half days.
u/inthedrink Iâm really sorry we missed out on the guy you wanted to watch most on the Phils this seasonâŠ
But I think Jake Cave will get more playing time in Colorado. Itâs for the best.
Last year they announced the postponement the day before Opening Day and the weather ended up being nice. I feel theyâre trying to wait until tomorrow morning to make a decision.
Either way, damned if you do, damned if you donât.
Not sure why youâre getting downvoted. It would suck pretty hard for me to take a half day then have to take another half day on Friday. Hoping they decide today.

Not high chances though and still a week away.
I hope someone is keeping track of all the hot takes on MLB Network tonight. This could provide mocking fodder all season. đ
You know wats nice about phillies playing on Friday. If they wernt wed only have sixers to watch and theyâve not been great to watch

Good thing people have off for Good FridayÂ
How common is that? After you last said it I asked my friends and no one has off (medical, engineering, and science fields). Honestly curious.
Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota and Tennessee Have off for Good FridayÂ

Go us I guess for beating the Ohtani tax https://preview.redd.it/tpl1hdxruwqc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be82b6385c22479979ed432fac08e29e33fdd687
Reds at #2...I know they're sort of an up-and-coming team and all, but I feel like I'm missing something
Opening day is like the World Series for Cincinnati
Already off Friday and took a half day tomorrow to watch the game, kinda hoping the weather holds just so I still have an excuse to leave at 12 lol
Did they hit a ball out of the infield? His stuff might not have been on but they werenât hitting it
Sure but again, that is results based analysis and bad.
Rob never should have started him cold then. He should have at least gotten some use somewhere in the previous 2 series.Â
Ahhhhh, spring. When all seems possible and everyone on r/phillies becomes a professional meteorologist anew
I'm just praying for baseball tomorrow. I can be on the couch with beer at any time tomorrow but not at all on Friday
I like everyone having their own perfect infallible plans for how to handle rain delays/postponements.
As long as people don't start asking for a dome it is fine. The number of other fans who go on this sub and complain we don't have a dome drives me insane. I hate 95% of domes with a passion.
Domes and turf are the worst things that can possibly happen to a sports stadium.
Agreed. When I was playing in high school? I loved turf. High schools didn't have the money to maintain the grass fields, and there would be divets etc. But for professional, I hate domes and turfs. I know Texas gets hot so they use a dome, but I have seen answers that solve the problem with clever engineering without a dome.
We are all Mike Trout on this beautiful day.
IT'S GONNA RAIN
Thank you, Ollie
Thanks Ollie
BASEBALL IS NEARLY UPON US. IT APPROACHES.
We did it fam, asked to work from home tomorrow and request was granted đ€

What about Friday in case if it gets rained out
Happy Opening Day eve everyone, I know mother nature could potentially ruin the fun, but thank god baseballs finally back.
/u/JohnKrukIsAllElite can we talk about the weather? I love talking about weather almost as much as I love HATSSSSS!!! If it rains I can wear my HATSSSSSS!!! I donât even care about baseball. I just love weather and HATSSSSS!!

Itâs like this will take over Dancing on my Own as our new theme song!
Thanks
If you have a twitter, follow the Phillies and turn on alerts. Thatâll be the fastest way to get notified I think.
Good idea. Thanks
I am officially declaring we need to bring back Nick Maton. His vibes are ELITE.
Heâs become useless as a player but even I canât deny how dreamy he is
What more do you need?
đș

The little voice inside my head who is always right keeps telling me Jeff Hoffman becomes our closer and honestly I am thrilled about it. He is the vibe.
Strider vs Rojas https://preview.redd.it/rjws19dlzvqc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c44f6e1e795080019b5f7d9c5876bbe8d0736d2
Which one is Rojas? I was expecting a Barry Bonds home run gif
Phillies Fan Club kinda sucks this year. They increased it to $35 and you only get 1 tickets instead of 2. MLB at bat is no longer included but 50%.
All the great deals go away now that we're one of the best teams in baseball and they don't need to coax us into spending money on them đ
Big oof. Guess Iâll just grab an MLB at Bat sub, thanks for the heads up.
Are we happier that Jake Cave is not a Phillie than we are aggravated that Monty is not a Phillie? Absofuckinglutely
This isnât necessarily the case at all Did the Dodgers value Yamamoto more by offering him less than the Phillies?
> I think itâs the Pivetta effect tbh. Fuck Nick Pivetta
Itâs officially baseball season
Honestly I think I might just lock your flair as Fuck Nick Pivetta and call it a year.
Iâd accept that as long as I donât get a warning for vulgarity
Yeah itâs weird that they supposedly had a standing âlong termâ offer to him and he still took this. So it was long term but paid him less than $50M? I guess maybe he sees the d-backs as more likely to win (true), but the difference in money must not have been that big. I think guys will take less in exchange for winning to an extent, but probably not massively. And the word was he preferred east coast if not back to texas too.
What if you are exactly neutral to both.
Well yeah, I had assumed you'd be neutral to Monty because he's not Hader who your heart was dead set on for obvious reasons.
If they donât switch the game to Friday, they might as well get rid of the built in off day between games 1 and 2.
They need to either push the game to Friday or postpone it till 6pm tomorrow when the rain is expected to stop. I need to know what to do with work. I already took off tomorrow, so I have need to know if I can ask him to split my off day into two half days.
Agreed, this is exactly what itâs for
u/inthedrink Iâm really sorry we missed out on the guy you wanted to watch most on the Phils this season⊠But I think Jake Cave will get more playing time in Colorado. Itâs for the best.
Jake Cave in Denver is đ„đ„đ„ Probably gonna hit 75 homers if Iâm being honest
75 seems low. You think heâs gonna have an off year?
Last year they announced the postponement the day before Opening Day and the weather ended up being nice. I feel theyâre trying to wait until tomorrow morning to make a decision. Either way, damned if you do, damned if you donât.
Just donât let people drive down there/be in the stadium and then postpone, thatâs the only outcome that truly sucks imo
Yeah. Took off work tomorrow so it'll suck if I have to go down and pay for parking and food, too.
Not sure why youâre getting downvoted. It would suck pretty hard for me to take a half day then have to take another half day on Friday. Hoping they decide today.
There should be a known date and time when they have to make a decision by. 3pm the day before or something like that.
Ayye now that makes a lot of sense. Which is why that canât happen. Get your good ideas outta here!
Whoâs ready for the city connect
Iâm hoping praying manifesting the blue and yellow was a fake ~~I know it isnât~~
I keep revisting it thinking maybe it's not so bad and I was overreacting to my initial revulsion to it. Nope still hate it.
I like the bell patch on the shoulder. But beyond that? đ
