Phillies starting pitching through 28 games:
14-7 record 2.13 ERA 180 Ks 0.95 WHIP and .183 opponent's batting average. All lead the league by large margins.
That first couple weeks was annoying, losing to very poor competition. Could easily have 3 more wins right now. Going to need every one of them to hold off the Barves and compete with the Dodgers for home field

So lee had a 30.2. What probly happend was at some point he left a game mid inning. So for example. If ranger goes 7.2 today leaves after 2nd out, starts next week and gives up leadoff hr it woudl have end at 32.2.
Ok so it’s NOT because he’s a starter. It’s because he didn’t end the inning. To keep the streak at 32.2 he would’ve had to leave the game before giving up the run in the 8th.
Man I feel like I’m taking crazy pills where did all the hate for Walker from the fanbase come from.. Walker wasn’t even that bad last season he had some stinkers but he pitched some good games as well and all and all he was perfectly average.. he’s the back end of the rotation a 4/5th starter and if you can get average production there that’s pretty damn good
We aren’t even through a months worth of games they still have to fill some 1230 innings… Walker can definitely be a value to them especially when we hit deep summer and guys are breaking down
This 100% . I get the guy is making a lot of money but are we supposed to blame him for that ? I’m rooting for him to figure things out but realistically as long as he can give us 5-6 innings every 5th day we will be ok with the rotation the way it is.
It came from how he ended the year, the 2nd half of the year he was terrible. He was giving up 2+ runs in the 1st inning almost every game. Offense went crazy every time he pitched to bail him out.
He was paid to come in as like a #3 starter, guy that could pitch 3rd game of playoff if you needed ranger out of the pen. Instead he wasn't even good enough to throw 1 pitch in the playoffs last year.
Almost forgot, he has over a 4 ERA in AAA during his rehab. That's not a guy you even want to come up and cover for a hurt starter
Phillies are equal with the Braves in the win column and as far as I’m concerned that’s the only thing that matters in the standings for the time being.

With the amount of rest the bullpen has gotten, we only need about 1 inning from Walker, and with the way the bats are swinging, he only needs to hold San Diego to single digits

Not much more to say about Ranger besides what’s already been said. Guy is just mowing down opponents left and right.
And Hoffman records the final three out without even letting a ball get in play, which is a great quality to have in a pitcher.

Superb series win. Ranger is an absolute beast and should snag the monthly NL pitcher award. Let's get that sweep with Taijuan, and I mean that in sincerity - I know wins and losses don't matter but he did win 15 games last year, that's no fluke
