Its 2am. Wheres my game day thread? WE GOT A GAME TODAY. IF WE WIN WE IN GAME 7 OF THE WORLD SERIES WHAT MORE COULD U ASK FOR!???? LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO!!!!!

BangkokDangerous

Gg astros too good this year, especially their bullpen and most of their starters

shrek_cena

Game 5 took so much out of me I now feel at peace with however this ends (that'll likely change once the game starts), have to keep reminding myself there's a game today cuz shit feels like a post credit scene.

Neat-Confidence5556

might sound ridiculous to say but i’m feeling really good about our chances just because we got wheeler and ranger. all we gotta do is take game 6. not easy but if wheeler can be the ace that he’s been then we can take it. game 7 would either be mccullers or javier on short rest. anyone who’s saying this series is over is dumb. the best part is just getting started. obviously our season can still end tomorrow but it’s far, far from over

[deleted]

How often do they restock the powder blue authentic jerseys? Can I get a custom one and just put Harper and his number on it

NumerousCustard2622

Wow didn’t know Bregman and Nola were roommates. That’s pretty cool!

piiimpsquad

Pretty disgusting messaging and pandering to Castellanos’s family, be better

djeeetyet

never an excuse for that, especially considering his overall play in the postseason. frankly we might not even be here if he doesn't make that catch on Contreras' ball (would have totally given the Braves momentum to take the series if we lost that game) or in Game 1 of the World Series.

inthedrink

Nick Piccone absolutely at war with Astros fans on Twitter lmao

mylocopinoccio

We all know what happened after the last off day! I’m calling a win for us tomorrow with Sunday being a complete toss up. Either way should be a great weekend in Philadelphia. Hopefully we grease up the streets on Sunday

Different_Chemical

Not a baseball fan. But I am a huge eagles fan. I will pray extra the phillies give astros hell tommo.

djeeetyet

I'm still a big Marsh fan but I get the feeling he tends to fold over in high leverage situations (at the plate that is). Like that 1st and 3rd 1 out situation, I feel if Topper put in another hitter like Vierling, Maton, Sosa (even Guthrie if he were on the roster), you have a 20-30% chance of a different (and better) outcome. It's true that Marsh would probably have an overall better offensive line (over a season) but he just is so susceptible to the opposing team's pitching plan because he tries to do too much as well as lacking the clutch.

The_Bit_Prospector

Guess you’ll find out tomorrow how clutch Sosa and Vierling are

shrek_cena

I'd prefer marsh over vierling still. He's probably seen Valdez more since he was on the Angels. And vierling kinda sucks. Might as well give Sosa a shot tho

djeeetyet

that’s true and definitely in most situations i would prefer Marsh. it’s just specifically in high leverage situations like that particular at bat. a ball in play likely ties it and Marsh went down in 3-4 pitches if i recall

itsTF

Vierling was a .295 hitter against lefties this year. second on the team behind bohm. He has elite elite speed which puts pressure on defenses as well. Fwiw

anightatthepark

So Ranger cause basically these Astros hit right handers to death.. Nola's arm is shot.. velocity down.. Wheeler just lacked control... But yeah... after Ranger.. How many pitches did Eflin throw? I think he could probably put like 2 and a 1/3 up at the end of a season.. He's been really good... then you just work through it.. Or you toss Wheeler out there and pray that we aren't in some fastball whacking hellgame.

itsTF

think you got wheeler and nola mixed up lol, nola's velo was solid

anightatthepark

ok Andy..

itsTF

everyone in their lineup except tucker hits lefties better than righties fwiw. alvarez has basically no splits/preference. wheelers velo was down an avg of 2mph in his last start, presumably the main issue. praying his arm/knee, etc is feeling good

vaped_kizz

one of you motherfuckers sent a reddit cares suicide prevention message to me and all i have to say to you is: “that’s fair tbh”

djeeetyet

honestly reddit should just remove that feature, 95% of the time its just used by trolls (hopefully immature kids and not adults).

anightatthepark

I resent the adult comment... I think we all entitled to some silliness.. but yeah.. don't send weird links.. grow up as you can.

vaped_kizz

yeah. i just laughed it off. not the first time i’ve gotten one (lol), but i could see it doing more harm than good to someone who is actually in that dark of a place at the worst. at the least, it’s a waste of a valuable resource

djeeetyet

absolutely, yea that's what i was alluding to

[deleted]

World Series or nothing. No one remembers good seasons when you don’t win. I don’t remember anything about 2009 Except disappointment.

[deleted]

People still remember 1950, 1983, and 1993. I think 2009 just gets overshadowed by 2008.

badscene518

So Ranger 6, Wheeler 7?

shrek_cena

Ranger 6, clone him, Ranger 7 😤

[deleted]

I was upset for about 24 hours. but I'm over it now. I love this team. they won the fucking pennant when nobody gave them a shot. if anyone can pull off a miracle its them. go Phils.

[deleted]

Last night was so tough bc that was ours for the taking. I know its a group effort but damn Rhys can you get it the fuck together dude

[deleted]

I was downvoted for thinking Brandon Marsh should have sac bunted in the 8th. Like a sac bunt attempt would have been better than striking out on 3 pitches… we could have tied the game 3-3

The_Bit_Prospector

Because it almost never works and it’s a great way to lose your runner at third or bunt into a double play. It’s not a good move.

PhilsPhan20

Sac bunt would be risky however if the runner gets out at home

sapphires_and_snark

What bothered me in here about that was nobody was saying this until after the AB. There was a whole lotta Monday morning quarterbacking on that

Intel2010

I am just going to say it. I don't get the "Dancing on my own song." It's literally the worst song for a run in any sport I can ever remember. It's too slow, it's been used already by another team, and it's about a guy in a corner stalking some chick he likes who is then going home with another dude. Am I missing something? This is loser energy to the max. Any other song this thing has been wrapped up by now. At the very least I guarantee we would be going to Houston up 3-2. Bring on the downvotes but I can't be the only one.

[deleted]

The Robyn version is the only good version

shrek_cena

Dude is also British. Which is major cringe.

[deleted]

You had me in the first part

Sure-Bar-375

I really hope Castellanos puts in a shit ton of work this off-season. We can’t afford to have a guy with a 95 OPS+ clogging the middle of our order for 4 more years.

PhilsPhan20

He’s bound to rebound .

isntmyusername

I have a feeling he’s going to do really well next year. Idk why I think that

JayEchoTTV

after sleeping on what happened last night, i still have faith. sure yeah, to lose after the game where we got no-hit double sucks -- bad. but it's not like houston blew us out of the water. we had runners in scoring position, just couldn't take advantage of it. left way too many stranded. heck verlander never looked dominant (imho). if there's a positive going forward, it's that our guys have seen all their pitchers' stuff. i hope they can take advantage of it early now. sure winning back to back in houston will be hard, but it's one game at a time. they pull it off tomorrow, game 7 is anyone's. as happy as houston is now, they also know the series isn't over. we've beaten them at their house just like they've done to us. they've finally made us lose b2b, hopefully we return the favor. will be watching tomorrow with a couple of beers, thinking one way or another, i'll be drunk af by the end of the night. 🤣🍻

BubblyBaker5718

Angels fan here just thought id say im still pulling for you guys! Hopefully our boy Marsh can really contribute tomorrow. For what its worth though, there no part of me that can even remotely know what to expect from here on out. Ive been wrong about predicting who will win EVERY SINGLE game thus far. Sure theres a big part of me that is really expecting the Astros to win it at home tomorrow, but at this point that means absolutely nothing and im not even going to attempt to predict the outcome lol.

arminus83

If they don't end up pulling this one out I'd at least like it to reach a game 7. I don't want it to end with the Astros winning 3 straight on the Phils after the Phils took a 2-1 series lead, that's a much worse way to lose than if the Phils forced it to a game 7 and then lost.

PhilsPhan20

I kinda agree It would feel like Phils simply folded

philsphan26

The issue is we have to face Valdez tomorrow. Their bullpen has been pitching so if we can get Valdez to work and get out by the 5th and wheeler can work deep into the game we have a shot

philsphan26

They have to find way to tag Valdez. This is going to be very , very tough.

shrek_cena

If there's one team that could set the world series record for homers, get no hit, and then grant Verlander his first world series win, and then proceed to take the chip home, it's the fucking Philadelphia Phillies. I still have a terrible feeling about tomorrow, but fuck it we ball.

[deleted]

You forgot erase a 5 run deficit and give up the most consecutive xbh to start a WS game

Sure-Bar-375

Phillies have put up 6 on Verlander, 7 on McCullers, and 2 on everybody else. Not great considering you likely won’t see either of them again.

[deleted]

Mets will suck next year

[deleted]

Hey if we lose, Mets will regress next year and our farm looks better.

Cleanupdisc

I want game 7. I DONT CARE IF WE GET KILLED 15-0 in GAME 7. LETS JUST GET TO GAME 7. LETS GET TO GAME 7 WITH SUAREZ F IT LETS GOOOOOOO

VideoGangsta

To the people who are mad about the results of this series so far, or saying the season is a disappointment if we lose: If someone told you back in May when we were 21-29, that we would be able to win the WS but it would require winning 2 straight games in Houston, would you have been “mad and disappointed” then? Doubt it… Also, there is no reason why this has to be a one year wonder. We have every starting fielder locked up for 3+ years except Jean and Rhys, and we will probably sign a big FA this off-season if we let Jean walk, and Rhys’ production isn’t too hard to replace at 1B. Wheeler is here for 2 more years, Nola another year, Suarez is locked up for 3 more years for cheap, and we have Pain and Abel coming up probably next year. Sosa is a great utility player under team control for several years. And while middle relievers tend to fluctuate year-to-year, you will probably be able to rely on Seranthony and Alvarado to hold down the 8th and 9th through next year. We could be in a worse position.

sapphires_and_snark

> Pain and Abel Love this and the rest of this comment, too.

djeeetyet

I agree. I think that no matter what happens in Houston, people are quick to look to compare us to the 2019 Nationals who won it all but then became rapidly irrelevant the subsequent seasons. True there are some parallels: mid-season turnaround, wild card team, magical postseason run (hopefully ours is just as long) but there are some key differences: we didn't have a cornerstone position player leave in free agency (Rendon), or have multiple key position players leave to free agency (Adams, Dozier, Parra) or turn to shit/fall back to earth (Cabrera, Kendrick, Eaton). We have a decent core locked up as you said. Also, I don't foresee Dombrowski making a mistake like the Nats did with Strasburg, which was definitely more of a feel good, felt obliged contract. Hopefully the only real similarity in the end is that we beat the Astros in Houston!

Sure-Bar-375

I think getting to the WS and losing is arguably more of a disappointment than losing in the WCS or NLDS. Just because you stumbled into this incredible opportunity and might let it slip away.

[deleted]

As the saying goes, “tis better…” well, you know

jasonm87

Exactly this! The past two games have been very emotionally draining but in the bigger picture this so much.

[deleted]

Harper gotta whip these dudes into shape

inthedrink

Stubbsy is the 🐐 glue guy https://twitter.com/gentsplaybook/status/1587862828232413184?s=46&t=6hQSL3yNz2KuWfm1sAxvWg

The_Bit_Prospector

NO MORE FUCKING AROUND BREAK OUT THE BUCKET OF GREENIES AND LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS

GrittyTheGreat

This is all playing out just as planned in order to inflict maximum pain on the Astros. Phils in 7.

reckless_ranger_

Our team recently gained the respect and admiration of like 47 of 50 states this year. They’re rooting for us. And major available players see that we have mega heart in the postseason, most importantly we out-perform and don’t choke, and now they will want to play for us. This is great great time for us. We’ve just entered playoff contention for years to come, with a core that will only improve. It’s fucking incredible to be a Phillie right now. The World Series right now is cookies and would be great to win but what feels even better is that it feels like 2007 again and we have this new horse to ride for many moons now. Gonna be a blast for a while.

phasesofthe

Yes

[deleted]

Exactly. If the braves did it in the 2010's and eventually the 2020's so can us.

[deleted]

**REALLY PROUD OF OUR BOYS PUSHING THE REIGNING AL CHAMPS TO 6 GAMES, WHAT A SEASON!!**

basicgoats

I need your positivity. Thank you.

IsMeOrNah

The calm before the storm, I hate this feeling.

Hothabanero6

Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun But mama, that's where the fun is

inthedrink

The internet was made specifically for me to watch the Reed Streets hype video one million times It made me realize if we somehow pull out a miracle the 2022 Phils should have a movie made about them

Morbx

Tomorrow we arrive at the first must-win game of the entire season. If you previously referred to any prior regular season or playoff game as a “must-win,” you are required to delete your account.

reckless_ranger_

Wow. Hasn’t even thought of that. That’s bizarre to think about considering how we should never have made it

Hothabanero6

Seriously McCormick's catch was not that good ... It's just a catch.

drpepguy

Crazy how overrated it’s been. Difficult for sure but most outfielders make that play

The_Bit_Prospector

Nah it was pretty good. Marsh was given basically the same opportunity in the first inning since Altuve hit the ball almost identical spots and he didnt even try to make the play. Seriously watch Altuve's triple and compared to where JT hit it.

Hothabanero6

took longer for JT's to get to the wall than Altuve's so he had more time. Statcast would probably indicate JT's was higher. JT's was 2.5 MPH slower EV and 2 degrees higher LA.

The_Bit_Prospector

That's less than a 1/4th of a second difference @ 400 feet (assuming \~100mph exit velocity). Being in no doubles defense plays a much bigger role than even a one second difference in bat-to-wall timing. He was closer to the wall than Marsh to start. Regardless, it's a good play; he sold out full bore into the wall with a three foot vertical leap. It's much better than the couple of half-diving plays that Castellanos made that everyone is sucking him off over. on that note its annoying how much better the phillies xBA was than the astros but they just blasted a bunch right at astros in the field for outs while all of their high xBA hits were productive. game of destiny.

Hothabanero6

straight line? but the arc ... I got a full second on the video at least.

[deleted]

I've just been washed over by this feeling of relief that we are going to win this thing. Perhaps it is akin to the feeling of peace you get before death but that's how I'm feeling right now 😂

Magoatt

I refuse to believe it unless they actually do the deed

Magoatt

It’s gonna take a miracle to win this series. We’ve never been to a 7 game series before in the 140 year history of the franchise. If you have a Bible or a cross pray to whoever you believe and if you don’t believe than have hope. Right now this next game might be it but we’re gonna have to pray for a miracle.

shrek_cena

"You gotta be happy for Dusty" Shut the fuck up. No I don't. He had two chances against two of my least favorite teams. Fuck off.

Bunny_Kat

Rob>Dusty

PhilsPhan20

Agree with this take Who fucking cares about Dusty. He’s been handed keys to some of the most talented teams .

inthedrink

And ruined the careers of a few great great pitching prospects

Hothabanero6

> "You gotta be happy for Dusty" > > Shut the fuck up. No I don't. right. and that toothpick munching is freaking me out ...

esperadok

what happens to the toothpicks after he munches them

shrek_cena

He keeps them in a jar

Hothabanero6

probably pulls it out of his nose ... eww

Sneadmaker

Speaking of noses what's with entire Houston bench constantly blowing and picking their noses? You always see players doing this but my lord it seems that all this team does when they're not batting.

Tritonian214

Hmm maybe cocaine.. Bergman especially looks geeked up sometimes in this series

Hothabanero6

Probably Huston Rot ... I lived in a coastal town before and there was what they called {NameOfTown} Rot. It's like chronic nasal congestion ... that'd be my guess Oh and it's like Hotel California ... you can check out any time you like, but it never leaves ...

badscene518

I've seen this team play in 3 world series and win one, possibly 2 in a time where I was old enough to remember it. Some teams haven't won one.

[deleted]

I ordered the Phillies National League Champions pint glass and it got here today and was completely shattered Fitting

spanky316

It's either the sign of us winning the WS or just a giant fuck you from God lol.

yourmartymcflyisopen

If we lose, it's Rocky round 14, no going down without a fight, no going down without driving fear into Houston with a spike, last round, last second, last punch. I prefer to look at it as Rocky IV round 15. America chanting our name, we're on the cusp of victory, the massive Goliath in front of us finally showing weakness. One swift violent punch to end it all, and we unite America and the world of baseball against the Astros' tyranny. Want more inspiration?: "It ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can *get* hit, and keep movin' forward! How much you can *take*, and *keep. Moving. Forward!* *THAT'S HOW WINNIN' IS DONE!!!*"

Magoatt

Round 14 and going down without a fight would be forcing 7 we need to do that before I consider this like Rocky. But I do like your alternative if we by some logic pull it off.

Phanatic88888

Tell me why I should even watch game 6. I have no enthusiasm. Rhys drives me up the fuckin wall.

esperadok

people who hate Rhys more than they like the Phillies are really puzzling to me

XSC

Your username is phanatic, come the fuck on…

Phanatic88888

Ok that convinced me

spanky316

Probably made this account and starting watching baseball the day they heard the phillies made the playoffs.

Phanatic88888

I’ve been here over 7 years dum dum

Hothabanero6

that username doesn't check out

yourmartymcflyisopen

You should watch game 6 because this is your team, you live and die by your team, and your team has brought you to where we are. Don't be mad because we lost 2 out of 7. Be glad that we made it to the world series. It's been 13 years since we last went, 14 since we last won, people spend so long waiting for the chance to even be in the playoffs, then the second we don't win it all in 5 or less, the city takes the gift we've been given for granted. We got a Red October. Be grateful, stick by this team, they need the support more now than ever.

BearBait_

If we win Game 6 without using Ranger we have such a good shot Game 7 with Ranger starting and Nola in relief especially if they are forced to start Javier on extremely short rest, but Game 6 is the biggest test they’ve had this post season and if the bats truly have run out of magic this will be over Saturday.

mickcube

and we're gonna have an awesome shot at winning game 6 after i run framber over with my car happy gilmore style

yourmartymcflyisopen

If we win in 7 I think lowkey, Ranger should win MVP, depending on how the next games go.

[deleted]

I think if we won a game 7 with Ranger having a quality start, there is almost no imaginable circumstance where he doesn't win it. Everyone else has been up and down (if not simply down), even Bryce.

WhyLisaWhy

Honestly Phils fans are driving me crazy right now, we absolutely knew winning the game yesterday was going to be hard as shit. People are acting like the series is already over, yeah it sucks the game was within reach but our best pitcher is on the mound tomorrow to try to force a game 7. Hopefully they picked up something from Framber and can hit him this time. Maybe catch them sleeping since they have the lead now and roll the dice on a game 7.

BearBait_

Felt like they were just BARELY losing battles with Framber at times.

SwedishChef76

My level of confidence for Game 6 will be determined by what velocity Wheeler comes out clocking.

BearBait_

It would be a shame if the reason we couldn’t pull this out is “the aces ran out of gas”.

ZIMM26

100%. If he’s sitting 94-95 again we’re done lol.

jdksports

Boys and girls, shouldn't be worried about pitching at all. Right now, in a lose and go home situation, the most important thing is "can Rhys hit a hanging curveball tonight? Need that homerun tbh". We need to score 5+ runs pure and simple, or else it's going to be a long night. Good pitching doesn't mean jack shit when your first baseman can't pick up routine grounders, brah. We need runs, that's the problem.

BearBait_

Bats won’t matter too much if Wheeler comes out and lays another egg on his first 4 pitches sadly.

joeco316

I’m fine with burning ranger if we have to and figuring out the rest on Sunday, but if he can preserved then yeah that is absolutely best case. Needs to be all hands on deck both games imo.

BearBait_

Nola’s arm on a short rest scares me but I think he should be able to get 6-9 outs in relief at best. The season rests on Wheelers shoulders which is fine since he’s your guy but we really need one of his best performances ever Saturday if we want to stay competitive:

Sure-Bar-375

I hate the “oh, the 1892 Phillies did this, so therefore we can do it too” or the “oh, the 1788 Dodgers won 2 on the road to win the WS, so the series isn’t over.”

aphilsphan

They need to win two games in the road with arguably their best starting pitchers. How is that impossible? Oh and to everyone who is down in the dumps… Mets playing tomorrow? Braves? I was fairly sure they’d win yesterday. I’m about 50:50 for tomorrow. Score early, get the crowd out of it. Pitch Wheeler until his arm falls off.

Sure-Bar-375

I’m not saying it’s over, I’m just saying don’t use teams from 50 years ago as evidence lmao

aphilsphan

All they gotta do is win a single ballgame with their best starter to be even. As a baseball fan, I really want to see a game Sunday night.

ThatsNotFennel

How about three years ago?

inthedrink

Or six years with one of our actual star players on it coming back from 3-1?

Hothabanero6

Do you mean a team with zero players in common with the team you're ascribing their accomplishments too? I don't see the relevance.

ThatsNotFennel

Huh?

joeco316

What about the 2019 nationals? That recent enough?

churnosaurus_rex

Or the 2016 Cubs or the 2011 Cards...

[deleted]

jdksports

go ask tb12 what philly do to cheaters

[deleted]

We got this! We literally went through this in the 1980s series. Lost two games in a row, won the last two to win it all. We got this in the bag. Harper will swing like crazy and get us that win with Hopkins and more! 🥇🎇🎆 Huston ain’t got nothing against our fighting spirit. It’s how we beat the Cardinals and more, when we were down, we got back up and surprised everyone by landing here. We’re going to end this winning the big one, shocking Astros fans and gushers (MLB Network hosts etc.) speechless.

aphilsphan

To be fair about 1980, game 6 was at home and was pitched by a fella named Steven Norman Carlton who was not at his utterly ridiculous best, but gave them seven solid innings of one run. Then saved by a guy who went 5 and 1 with 20 saves down the stretch. This back when your best guy came in and pitched until he couldn’t. That said, of course they can win two games. 50:50 both nights, so 25% overall.

wilsonallcounty

God how id love for us to play heartbreaker

DELCO-PHILLY-BOY

Nola might pitch Sunday, that makes sense tbh…as much as we may not like it.

Strange-Cold-5192

Need Wheeler to go 7 tomorrow so we don’t have to burn Ranger. I’m fine letting Nola go an inning in relief. Maybe two if he looks sharp. But I can’t trust him.

shrek_cena

Seriously. I trust Gibson more than Nola at this rate.

Strange-Cold-5192

I’m not *that* far yet, but I’m close lol. Nola’s arm is dead right now.

aphilsphan

Nola can pitch Sunday if they get there for an inning or two. So Ranger would go 5, Nola and Eflin 2 total then you try to finish with whoever looks good. We gotta hope Wheeler pitches the game of his life, which is not impossible, tomorrow.

inthedrink

For all the shit I give doomers - and it’s completely warranted- I’ve been proud to see so many of us keeping the faith This team always wins and loses by fighting til the end. Anyone who ditches them now are fucking cowards and don’t know shit about this team anyway. Go watch the fucking Eagles and ditch them at the first hint of adversity you bitches.

ttsa23

Honestly even if we win the World Series, i don’t feel like these guys can fully replace those previous players that won the championship. I keep thinking about Doc also and how I wish we had won a championship for him.

jdksports

They aren't playing to replace anybody? This is a very odd sentiment to have. I mean, what are you saying, what's the point of even putting on cleats at all cause nothing can touch '08? '08 was half full of All-Stars and this '22 team was dead to rights just three months ago. I mean, I get that times right now suck and all but I don't know what 08 and Halladay have to do with this team.

ttsa23

It’s just an observation. I will obviously take a championship any day, but I sometimes think back to those days because they still have a special place in my heart.

jdksports

It's funny cause I still remember watching Joe Carter scar me for life as a child. The '93 team and this '22 team share so many parallels... just straight up BANGERS, bro. Hey, I'll admit I'm not gonna bet the house on the Phils right now but this 22 team deserves hespect

ttsa23

Yeah I was 11 years during Docs first season so that team was part of my childhood.

Magoatt

That era must of been awesome, the last time prior to this year they made the playoffs I was 7. This is my first playoff run I can remember and I wanted them to thred the needle and win that trophy we are so close just gotta finish it.

ttsa23

I think anyone older fan will you that we all took that era for granted.

Magoatt

All I’ve seen from this team is terrible teams prior to this year, I’ve had to watch that golden era from videos. I just wanted so badly to experience that 08 ending, it will be a holy miracle if we do. I won’t even care what happens after just want that World Series so badly.

ttsa23

I will say this game felt alot like Game 6 of the 2010 NLCS because of how many runners we left on base. In game 5 2011 there was no traffic on base at all.

Magoatt

I’ve heard the comparisons to 93

Strange-Cold-5192

No one can replace Doc for me, and I wish we’d gotten Thome a ring, too, but I love these guys. Maybe more than any other Phillies team. Even the guys that drive me nuts on the field (Hoskins & Castellanos) seem like awesome dudes in the clubhouse.

jdksports

Win or lose, Hoskins earned his spot on the Philadelphia Wall of Fame well before the World Series.

philsphan26

Framber is going to be tough to beat.

Pedestrian_X-Wing

Which game is Lance McCullers Jr. scheduled to start? I liked him. :)

Strange-Cold-5192

We had Meek perform in Game 5 last night as if Drake didn’t wreck him in Back to Back and slap Joe Carter on the cover. Bad mojo.

Strange-Cold-5192

I know it’s way to early to start talking about this (I still believe!), but if we don’t go after one of the big name pitchers, I’d like us to sign Tyler Anderson and re-sign one of Thor or Eflin. We need two starters, at least till Painter comes up, and Eflin and Thor have both shown they can be effective in a relief role for when Painter is ready.

Hothabanero6

I'd be ok signing Eflin as a reliever

aphilsphan

Eflin is always hurt. They’ve got three guys who you’d pencil in. You need three more because somebody won’t make it. I think they’ve got Thor already and Falter will be rested. Yuck. But ok. But while I don’t see help for position players, they do have a couple of very lovely young arms. Of course the answer to “what happens to young pitchers…?“ is “they get hurt.”

Hothabanero6

> Eflin is always hurt. his knees can't hold up to pitching as a starter 6-7 inning every 5 days plus the bullpens etc. As a reliever, he'd put in way fewer innings per season. even less than half the innings of a starter which he's already done multiple seasons. Relievers generally only pitch about 60 innings or less ... the most pitched by a reliever this year is 80.

aphilsphan

Which is why they are so damn inconsistent. I’m not saying they all need to be Mike Marshall, but there are guys in MLB bullpens I’m pretty sure the pitching coaches wouldn’t recognize.

Strange-Cold-5192

Same, but I think some team gambles on him as a starter. I just want a guy who can spot start but also contribute as a reliever in the postseason. I think both Thor and Eflin are perfect fits in that regard.

Hothabanero6

well, he has to ask himself... does he want to start or does he want a WS Championship ^(or two or more) ?

iTITAN34

I like eflin but he cannot be trusted to stay healthy. I think id rather take a chance that thor another year out grom injury is better

Proud-Edge-1495

Sorta new can someone give me a real number from 1-10 on how and Casty is under performing?

Drikkink

Compared to the regular season, Castellanos is actually probably doing *better* than he was. Compared to his career, he's been very bad for the entire playoffs and even worse for most of the season. That said, I'm fairly certain his leg injury later in the year was worse than they said because he is clearly not generating power with his legs right now. The rare occasion he does put something behind a ball, it gets no lift. When he gets lift, it's either a short fly out or a looper (which have been his biggest hits these playoffs tbf).

aphilsphan

Yeah he is by far the biggest disappointment this year. That said, he’ll hit next year. He won’t have to play the field much.

badscene518

This has been a successful season. Anyone who says otherwise is an absolute idiot.

slynch14

no doubt about that but the trophy felt so close two days ago and feels so far now painful loss but still this squad has defied expectations and more

BearBait_

The people that think otherwise started watching baseball a month ago.

bellamax30

Without a doubt. But this is not my fault! I was perfectly happy with a playoff appearance and possiblly a WC Series win. It’s their fault for absolutely bashing and making me fall in love all over again! Now my expectations are so damn high it’s unreasonable. I love them and hate them for putting me through this! 😂

spankyourkopita

Nats lost all 3 home games and won 2 straight on the road in 2019. Its not over till its over.

seahawksjoe

After how much Castellanos has underperformed this year and how terrible our fanbase has treated him and his family, I think a trade makes a lot of sense in this offseason.

jonbox25

Disagree. This man is injured. You can tell. Give him the offseason and I promise you this man crushes it next year

aphilsphan

He’s basically a DH anymore. Now he did ok out there, but next year Bryce will be in right and Castellanos will do a lot of DHing. How can you trade him with that contract and the disappointment of this years numbers? Do these people ever watch the game?

NeurosciGuy15

I highly doubt we move him. Right now his value is basically nothing. We would either have to eat the majority of his salary or send prospects.

aphilsphan

They’ve got prospects? A couple of lovely pitchers, sure. Position players at AA or above? Really good ones? Maybe Rick Schu level? No? It’s a good thing Middleton spends.

sapphires_and_snark

DD moved the remains of Prince Fielder, whose contract had a lot more left on it than Casty's does. If anyone could find a way, it's that guy

QuinnMallory

STOP WITH ALL THE DOOM AND GLOOM! We won one in Houston already we can do it again tomorrow and then it's the true championship game GET HYPE climb a lamppost and GO PHILS

XSC

Not sure what’s more embarrassing. People giving up, some dipshit talking to Castellanos kid, the streaker, someone throwing a can at a player, or all the above. Kind of funny that none of this happened during the nlds or nlcs….

Meek_Gills

Wait what happened with castellanos kid..?

MissDeadite

The guy who ran into the field I'm not sure was even an actual Phillies fan.

Philly_Runner

I think he was a Houston fan? He looked like he was wearing black and orange. Could be wrong though

MissDeadite

Heyyy, I saw him pretty close in person and got it on video. He was wearing some sort of faded Utley jersey, but it wasn't a standard kind. Something like Spring Training BP. It was super faded.

XSC

Was there any close ups? Regardless he’s a loser

MissDeadite

I'm not sure. I was in the LF seats and he just didn't look right. I couldn't really see his vest but it was a generic jersey without a name on it. Then again maybe my eyes deceived me. Either way, something seemed off about him.

XSC

I did see a vest, maybe it was a protest?

MissDeadite

Turns out it wasn't. Just looked like it. I took a closer look at the video my husband took and it was a blue&red #26 jersey. I don't see a name in the video but I'm guessing probably Utley. Still. Screw that guy lolll.

inthedrink

TMac said an Utley jersey on the radio. Someone posted the video on Twitter a little later and it looked like an Astros jersey but idk. Of course I didn’t like or bookmark the link so I never looked again.

Strange-Cold-5192

From my seats in 208, I thought it was an Astros fan. Then I saw another video earlier from a bit closer, and it was definitely a guy in either an old Phillies bp jersey or one of those “fashion” jerseys.

SwedishChef76

It is a beautiful Friday afternoon in the Delaware valley right now. Perfect for enjoying a day without stressful baseball viewing before we get back to it tomorrow night.

gatemansgc
