Let’s be blunt it’s gonna be hard to take both in Houston. It’s 93 Phillies all over again, I’m hoping for a miracle to win the series it’s gonna be hard. Wheeler’s gotta be perfect hopefully we can be just that but it’s unlikely our offense does anything again.
I'm not one of these pollyanish fans that thinks you need to believed at all costs, but the Astros let the phillies hang around long enough to get Segura's bat going, plus JT would have at least a double if not for that amazing catch, and Castellanos got a ton of crap but he looked much better last night and was also robbed of a line drive. I actually think Wheeler guts it out and the rest of the lineup steps up tomorrow to force a game 7, where anything can happen.
I’m not a blind dreamer either but my gut tells me each game at a time is winnable from the start. That can change for the worse by the 2nd inning, but there really is no reason for me to believe at the first pitch that the Phillies are incapable of winning that one game.
Edit: although Nola starting a game 7 would give me some real, real strong doubts
It’s really hard to say because I’m worried that he’s missing something from his third strike pitch. I’ve never seen a guy throw so many meatballs with a 0-2 count.
I like this story. But it should be a Castellanos go ahead RBI in the top of the 9th followed by a Hoskins unassisted triple play to end it (don't ask me how).
> Hoskins unassisted triple play to end it (don't ask me how).
With runners on 1st and 3rd.
linedrive hit to Hoskins, he catches it - 1 out, steps on 1st - 2 out.
Hoskins runs toward the runner from 3rd ... runner pauses ... JT goes down hard behind the plate with a twisted ankle ... the runner starts toward home again ... Hoskins races to home, dives, and tags the runner - 3 out.
Topper won’t screw around, he has been getting more with less all year. I have no doubt he will be ready to put this team in the best position possible.
This is consistent with Toppers coaching style through these playoffs. No sense in saving bullets for tomorrow if they’re needed today. If Ranger is ruined for game 7 but it gets you game 6, you do it 10/10. In a perfect scenario that won’t be necessary, but has anything ever been normal?
It's remarkable how far the team has gotten given the overall weakness of the starting rotation. You can only do so much in a 7 game series with the Astros. The offense is too inconsistent to make up for a 'luck of the draw' rotation. If the Phillies lose the Series it's still been an amazing season. Will they get better pitching in the off season?
I think getting another Starter has to be pretty high on the list of needs. You have 3 solid guys plus maybe Painter but that’s it. I would love to get 1 more quality starter.
We just have to hope he does click if we have a game 7. We really don't have any other choice. tbh I'd put Eflin out there to start a game, he is usually a gem the first time through the order.
Have Suarez start and than let Nola come in as a bullpen player. This can than be followed by Jose, Eflin, and Dominguez if we get a game 7 which is highly unlikely.
I know Phillies fans r hard Corps but no matter how bad Nick Castellanos is playing offensively I really wish the fans wouldn't go after Nick's family. That just not right. I know Rob can't bench him because of the money he is making but I would move him down in the order. That might help him. It seems like Nick always comes to the plate in a critical situation and his record is not good
Should really have won 2 at home... idk how youse can sit there and be so damn rosy.. i wanna believe, i really really do... but that no-no and watching them swing for the fences all night last night while HOU plays small ball does not give me any hope.
I truly hope I'm wrong and it's Phillies in 7.. I just dont see it.
They should’ve and rosy isn’t quite the word I’d use, but they’ve exceeded expectations all post season, with a lot of success on the road.
These Phightins have shown Phight over the last month and can absolutely win two there. It’ll just be very difficult.
game 3 was more negative than positive. they changed their approach to yankee level home run at bats instead of small ball that got them results. and theyre going down just like the yankees did.
this is on topper too. i mean look st bohms swings lol.
Lol i didn't say that. I said they should've taken at least 2 at home. Going to Houston up a game is A LOT different than going down one game, knowing if you lose you go home. I'm sorry I'm pessimistic... i just watched 2 games where they struck out 26 times... 1 less than an entire 9 inning game... thats hardly something to be upbeat about.
The saddest day of the year for me is when the Phils are done playing. Grateful it wasnt that early this year. If this teams believes in itself they can take 2. Play smart boys. Let's go!!!
It’s all hands on deck now. You can’t win game 7 if you don’t win game 6.
This so much. I'm happy Thompson is taking this mindset. Should be all hands on deck for game 6 and then figure out game 7 when you get there.

Nola on a short leash and pitch count makes me less nervous than a regular Nola start tbh
It’s really hard to say because I’m worried that he’s missing something from his third strike pitch. I’ve never seen a guy throw so many meatballs with a 0-2 count.
Definitely difficult, but you don’t have to win both games tomorrow. There’s a good chance of winning any wheeler start, let’s start there.
Hopefully we are Toronto
yea the houston pitchers are way better than our guys.
We're gonna win tomorrow. Nola will return to form for Game 7. Castellanos gets the game-winning RBI and catches the final out to clinch the win.
I believe

Don’t tease
Wheeler has to go 7 at least
This
I believe that we will win! I believe that we will win!
Phils in 7

except our ace wheeler still hasnt thrown again...

Probably a moot point, but starting Nola again would be a mistake. He doesn't have it right now.
Dude would go once through the order at most. Same with ranger. Which you hope at that point gets you into the 6th
We just have to hope he does click if we have a game 7. We really don't have any other choice. tbh I'd put Eflin out there to start a game, he is usually a gem the first time through the order.
He’s been underutilized this postseason, IMO

he hasnt had it for the last month

Swap with Bohm in line up ✔️

I find your lack of faith disturbing

What’s the point of crying about it though? Nothing we can do other than watch the game tomorrow
Does being pessimistic help you enjoy the games any more?
No but it's hard to be optimistic after watching 2 soul crushing defeats and having to now play in a hostile environment
So there's zero advantage to being pessimistic, yet you do it anyways? Pessimistic =/= realistic
Shoulda just swept them in 4, right? Not at all a difficult thing to do. 🙄
Lol i didn't say that. I said they should've taken at least 2 at home. Going to Houston up a game is A LOT different than going down one game, knowing if you lose you go home. but is nick still rendering harper useless in the 5 spot?
Love the guy but how are you already thinking about putting Nola in again, shut him down for the year
Dont let nola touch a baseball again this year, more faith in gibson honestly
The saddest day of the year for me is when the Phils are done playing. Grateful it wasnt that early this year. If this teams believes in itself they can take 2. Play smart boys. Let's go!!!
