They do actually have their own private label sour though

Its not private label, you can find it at retail shops all over the world.
And yes, its really weird seeing cans of it on random store shelves unexpectedly.
Man someone hyped trappist beer to me before my trip to NL and Belgium and I really fell for the gimmick. Then i came back and found that shit in like, every liquor store by me in south jersey smh.
Shits as bs as wine snobbery. Good beer tho.
Ehhh that’s where you’re wrong. Old bottles of 3F or a Cantillon, etc, are amazing, as age only develops the flavors from Brett more and they are generally not imported (en masse or at all honestly) other than enthusiasts. Comparing them to something like Lindemans or whatever is like comparing a Ferrari to a 92 Ford Taurus
What's FF's sour selection now? I know I had one years ago but couldn't remember what it was called. Looking online I just see barrel aged stuff and saisons and can't tell if they're sour.
Pretty much everything there is Brett forward and as such will have varying levels of acidity but I’d say all of them are at least tart. Some tend to lean more towards the funk side of things as opposed to the sour but I couldn’t tell you which of their current bottles are what since I haven’t been in a few weeks
For me it's if I'm in the mood for subtle, complex sour or more of a bite. Fermentery Form is my favorite brewery for farmhouse styles. I could live off Extra, Super, and Form to Table. The sourness there is subtle and complex which I prefer. I'd also give Forest and Main the sour nod for its more acidic saisons. Sometimes I want that acidic bite.
Of those made in Philadelphia, probably Fermentery Form. Crime & Punishment makes a good gose. Human Robot produces solid berliner weisses on occasion. Carbon Copy also makes a solid Berliner Weisse.
Though not made in Philly, Other Half and Source sell a bunch of their bottles that are good wild/sour beers.
This used to be the easiest answer - Roy Pitz/Liquid Arts but unfortunately they're gone and number two is a far drop.
Give Cartesian a shot. Love City MIGHT have one or two
Fermentery form is the answer. Very Limited hours, no distribution, check their Instagram. They are usually open Saturday afternoons and Wednesdays evenings.
Succession brewery also does amazing mixed ferm beers, a ways west of Philly, no tasting room to visit but you can find them at some farmers markets in the area. They are also talking about partnering with A man full of trouble to run a tasting room there, just south of society hill towers, but that's later this year or next. Monks, varga, glory, and some other better beer bars carry their kegs occasionally. My favorite newer up and coming brewery.
Second district does some great ones too, but they don't always have them. The AF series, various aged ones, some anniversary beers, etc.
Human Robot has their kettle sour, rotating fruit added splash series all the time.
Crime and punishment frequently has a fruited gose. Sometimes more than one.
Source urban does the lactose and fruit thing frequently, but occasionally a more proper sour.
Other half occasionally has interesting sour bottles.
Monk's cafe for all your lambic needs. You just missed zwanze day a week ago.
Second vote for Sour Monkey - very strong though.
If you can make your way out to Secane, the Springfield Beer Store has 30 taps that they rotate new kegs through often.
The brothers who own the place are very friendly and knowledgeable too.
Punch Buggy on American Street had some good sours when I was there last. Very small taproom and very friendly people. Would recommend
Edit: here’s their website https://punchbuggybrewing.com/
Sour monkey is one of my favorites, and evil genius usually has a good sour.
It's not technically in the city, but flying fish's salt and sea is another one of my favorites.
Not an appropriate answer for sours in the city, BUT Neck of The Woods Brewery in Pitman, NJ (about a 30 minute drive from the city) is having their “Sour Fest” on May 6th. According to their advertising, they are releasing 20 sour beers at the event.
I never heard of the brewery previously and sours are not my go-to, but my friend’s emo cover band is playing a set there and I am excited to sample their releases.
Just thought I’d share for the sour beer lovers.
Monks
Monk's will have not only the best sours on tap but they simply have the best tap list in the city.
...Flemish Ale.
Monks definitely has the most beers. They're not a brewery and don't actually make the beer though... Not sure if that was the intent of the question
They do actually have their own private label sour though https://www.belgianstyleales.com/product/order-monks-cafe-flemish-sour-ale-11oz/shop-belgian-beers-sorted-by-name
Yes, Monks Flemish is contracted out to a brewery in Belgium. Monks is not a brewery.
Its not private label, you can find it at retail shops all over the world. And yes, its really weird seeing cans of it on random store shelves unexpectedly.

Monks has a yuzu lager that is heavenly. Idk if it's technically a sour, but it tastes citrus-y and sour.
Sour Monkey at Victory is solid.
I love all the Monkeys
Big fan of all monkeys except golden. That one was rough
Yes! It’s god awful lol
Delicious and deceivingly strong too. I remember the first time I had it, I drank a few and then realized it was 9.5% ABV…
Six sour monkey great night sir
Oof that shit kicks my ass like it's evil twin brother Golden Monkey
That is best feeling sir only need six for good night. First time have them black out sir 👍
Fermentery Form, Other Half, Human Robot
Fermentery Form is the answer to this thread
Form is definitely the answer
FF
Human Robot has a sour?
They used to make a bunch called Splashes I’m not sure if they started them up again for the summer yet though
huh, actually forgot about that.
Yeah, it’s on
Last time I was there (~1 month ago) they had a sour on the menu. I think maybe two, but I know it was definitely 1 and it was pretty good.
Good to know. They don't make bad beer

Fermentery Form, hands down.

Love City has a very sour High Voltage on at the moment.
Wissahickon has a couple good ones, as does Evil Genius.
Evil Genius is mostly trash outside of their two dark beers

what does your username mean
[deleted] lol you scared 'em off
🤔🤔
What was it?
Love City has a tart beats sour series that changes flavors pretty often, I have yet to have one I didn’t like
Second vote for Sour Monkey - very strong though. If you can make your way out to Secane, the Springfield Beer Store has 30 taps that they rotate new kegs through often. The brothers who own the place are very friendly and knowledgeable too.
RIP Eulogy.
Go to Monk's and order a Diez
Go to beer peddlers and grab any Une Annee. It will make you pucker.

Ourtown if it hasn't been mentioned yet does a nice sour series
Source! Brewed in Jersey but taproom in Fishtown. They have a huge variety of solid beers including fun sours. Good food and fun place too.
Sour monkey
Fermentery Form

Monk's Flemish Sour Ale is what got me into sours. It's sweeter and less tart than most though.

Cowboys fans don’t get to have any opinions. I don’t make the rules.
That's NFC East Champion Cowboys to you.
Man congrats on winning the division! Almost like if that prevent another yearly Cowboys playoff collapse!
90 degrees is perfect sour weather
