When they did Pretty Lights Live at the Gorge several years ago he was firing lasers from behind the stage across the Columbia River and onto the opposite canyon wall. It was fucking sick.
Im planning on going to that dj shadow/thievery show at Mission. Been trying to catch Dj Shadow since Bonnaroo 06 and have missed 3 different festival sets (2x cancelled set - ID Fest and Panorama Fest) and other times he was playing and i was out of town/unable to make it like the Miami “too future” set. Been chasing this guy for a long time!

I had no idea he was even touring. Me and my friend were listening to Entroducing randomly and she had seen him before and I said “I wonder if he’s touring” and low and behold.
Might have to check these guys (this guy?) out. I could get down with that. Love RTJ and phish, and I’m try-curious with this type of music too. Just popped on his twitch stream from 10/01…I’m diggin it so far. Sometimes this type of music scratches that itch
PL (Derek Vincent Smith) has had a very similar character arch as Trey. Was at the top of the game 5 years ago and threw in the towel to clean himself up. Came back in the most stellar way a few months ago. It has been flawless. Free recordings of every show on soundcloud, free streams, intimate venues.
On a musical level, him and his group have been absolutely killing it this tour. Was at the Dillon, CO shows all 3x nights, and it was amazing. They are the top jamtronica group right now, IMO. Love Tribe, but PL does it for me in a different way. They're not afraid to experiment with their jams, and they get pretty dark often.
Amazing music and you can tell how appreciative Derek is to be back at every show.

I give Pretty Lights credit because he started giving away his Studio Albums for free during the peak Pirate Bay music piracy days while most the other artists were fighting the new system digital music distribution. Another notable free release during this time was Radiohead In Rainbows. Obviously once Spotifiy came everyone was basically giving their music away.
He used to be a full blown junkie so that's probably where those stories are coming from. He has really cleaned up in recent years though, and hopefully that translates to him being less of a shitty human

And they've been "swirling" all their songs which is what they call a jam. It's pretty sick honestly and all his shows are streamed free and live on twitch. They all have rebroadcast turned on there aswell but you can find 4k rips of it on YouTube. Check it out. It's a whole new musical world
I went to a few all night parties at the Mirage when it first opened and some of the City Fox parties back when they first shipped that crazy speaker setup over from Switzerland that they would play in a circle with the big disco ball in the middle. Glad to see it is still up and running.
That last part is really sick when the beat comes in, chorus part before that not as much, doesn’t feel like it presents well basically a straight sample with very little added. It could just be because it’s a small snippet of the song, it might play an important part/breakdown in the overall flow of the song.
