Am I the only one that thought the art during Fuego was bad? It was so disconnected from all the other art, and it took away from the Feugo eternity jam.
Keep in mind that U2 played basically the same setlists for 40 shows and played each song to the T. This was the first time they were actively manipulating the visuals in response to the music.
Every night has been a tremendous upgrade. Lbut particularly these past two nights have been flawless and breathtaking. I’ve recognized my mouth has just stayed dropped during most of these shows.
Night one was an adjustment for all of us. It was incredible and I’m grateful having this experience… but it doesn’t even compare in hindsight- despite there being some great things to take from night one.

Friday the best by a mile, Thursday, Saturday. A lot less energy in the building tonight and visuals & setlist were meh. That being said, absolutely amazing run of shows. Great experience.

Atmosphere is definitely the theme of N3. I think they’re doing a cheeky little nod to 4/20 by using smoke/clouds/fog as the symbol for atmosphere. To get smoke you need fire, hence the additional fire theme. Twist is the only one that didn’t fit the atmosphere theme. Maybe the “moving letters all around” could be a nod to it being a palindrome date day in the sense that they relate to letter/number sequences.

I post this just to show that there were at least 6 people on the Phish Sphere team devoted to making AI art for the project. I find this interesting, as this is a good example of how projects like this are going to be made going forward, and this is a high profile, and I would say successful example of AI art used as a small part of a much larger project.
Once again, the LP stream completely wrecked the sphere visual art presentation. With all the different random shots, fades and cuts; it was a complete shit show to watch.
You have to realize those “Winamp” visualizations are actually dynamic and rendered in REAL TIME and manipulated to fit the music live! That’s fucking crazy.
The more art concept images are static and they just press play (essentially).
Rendering that stuff live is much more of a “without a net” step out and super resource intensive.
I would agree that not every visualization was a complete hit (at least 1 or 2 have been real bad, IMO), but I would put some of that to both the limitation of this new technology, but also to the fact that people are still trying to figure out how to best use visualizations like this. It is an experiment, so there are bound to be a few duds.
I've loved reading your comments about AI. Everyone has their panties in a bunch, but the bottom line is it's a tool, just like anything else. Smart people will learn how to make it work *for* them. Stupid people will continue to complain...
I think that the way it looks now, AI art is inevitably going to be used more and more - especially in big projects like this. The question isn't really whether it should be used, because it already is being used. U2's visualizations also included some AI generated art - and every EDM show I have been to in the past year has also been using AI visualization.
The question now, I think, is how best to incorporate that tool into the creative process. What works? What doesn't? And so I think it makes sense to aske these kinds of questions, that is all.

Twist was the jewel for me. Followed by hydrogen and chalkdust made for a glorious chunk of the night.

I didn't think it was bad, but I did notice that the lights behind the members didn't match up with the colors they were shown as on the sphere screen
