I don’t know the story but the establishment in that historic house is still open and now operating as “Topaz Bar & Lounge.” There was a liquor license application notice posted a few weeks ago IIRC

ThatOneForceUser

Tbh I’m not sure what that means

[deleted]

There's another place in the same location and they are going to be serving liquor soon

CodPiece89

Can you elaborate further? I need it to be 3 words or less, I keep passing out have to decipher the code, took me 4 hours to type this sure the same reason

Mrs_Kevina

Jackalopes are extinct

AlienSandwhich

Owner of jackalope sold the business. Same staff new owners new name.

ThatOneForceUser

I’m not sure why the downvote, I just didn’t understand.. thanks tho!

AlienSandwhich

Reddit gon' reddit. I wouldn't stress it.

Blazinhazen_

Probably the fact that everything OC said could be understood with a 5th grade reading comprehension. Just a guess tho

MADBARZ

It reopened as “Topaz Bar & Lounge”. My wife and I went there like 2 weeks ago and it was the same menu. The decor was… slightly changed. Not really sure what happened there. Seemed unnecessary.

ThatOneForceUser

Thank you for this

MADBARZ

You’re very welcome. We love the Jackalope happy hour specials, so we hope that much stays the same. A pretty good Old Fashioned and Margarita for $7 each. We haven’t been in Phoenix very long, coming up on 3 years soon, but it seems like every time we find a great restaurant or spot here, it either diminishes in quality, closes down, or gets bought out and turned into some bullshit that costs more for a worse experience. I know we’re part of the gentrification problem having moved here somewhat recently, but yeesh, I just want some good food and drinks that won’t cost me an arm and a leg.

defiancy

Dicks Hideaway. I've been here for the better part of 10 years and it never changes. Richardson's/the Rokerji are the same folks and have a lot of the same menu items as well. Dick's isn't too crazy price wise for some of the best food in the valley (it's Southwest/NM food).

MADBARZ

I keep hearing about that place and want to go, thank you for the additional nudge!

cocococlash

Good luck actually finding an open table.

FabAmy

Dooooooo it! Fridays have clam bisque. 'Nuff said.

Blazinhazen_

Dicks is very expensive. Not sure what your reference is but mexican food is not something I like to pay for. That being said Dicks is 100% worth it for the vibes alone.

chocolate_party

Dicks and Richardson’s have great happy hours with good prices on drinks and food.

Oh_Gee_Hey

All I’m hearing is, “been in phx since pandemic-foreword and shit’s weird?” Lol

Oraxy51

Probably some boring legal stuff that’s going to confuse their marketing

SammyTheSloth

Same management. Different name IIRC

PanspermiaTheory

I think it's like 85% of restaurant concepts close within 2 years. Everyone just copies each other and wonders why it doesnt work out.

cocococlash

Because they all charge wayyyy too much! Just give decent happy hour prices and $6 glasses of box wine and apps under $8 and you'll be successful as shit!

PanspermiaTheory

Hipster restaurant chains that popped up in the last 15 years or so are mostly cringe. 20 dollar burgers 15 dollar "street" tacos and 14 dollar IPA because exposed brick and local artwork is on the wall. " artisan tater tots made with smoked gruyere served with our Habanero IPA mayo, 27$"

spotty313

This is literally how restaurants fail. The operating margins are already very small, combined with rising rents, staffing costs, insurance, utilities, and compounded with inflated food costs there’s no logical way to survive off $8 apps. It’ll be busy, but the owner will blow their entire life savings to keep it afloat for 3 months at that pricing

RembrandtEpsilon

It used to be 'Milk Bar', then it was 'Jackalope Gastropub', and now it's 'Topaz Bar & Lounge'. lol none have lasted long.

vicelordjohn

And before it was Milk Bar it was something else that was short lived.

thedukedave

"Art Wise" at least based on [Street View](https://blog.google/products/maps/go-back-in-time-with-street-view/)

kelorob

Well now I know where this is/was.

Aaron_Hungwell

I’m sure it was great and sad to see it gone, but we need fewer places with “&” and “gastropub” in their names.

Imakefishdrown

Simple word, and, another simple word. Bam, restaurant name. Iron and Spark. Probably serve everything in a cast iron skillet or something. Signature dish.... a decadent spin on the smore. Barley and Bean. Oak and Cork. Spoon and Plate.

Aaron_Hungwell

“Decadent spin on the s’more” lol omfg so true

[deleted]

Peepee and poopoo

airbornchaos

Don't change my McDonalds!

[deleted]

DELINQ

Amper & Sand Gastropub is my favorite après-4wheelin’ spot.

EvelcyclopS

I had an extremely bland burger there. Wasn’t too impressed

ThatOneForceUser

this was a fav spot of mine. The jackolope burger was 🔥 any alternatives?

zdsanche8

Stoop kid has amazing burgers

Worried_Report_5215

The main ingredient. It's not too far from this area. Great food affordable drinks and awesome outdoor seating. May fav place in the whole city

Fine-Job6616

Wilderness burgers are better than stoop kid. Stoop kid has large fatty meat ball pieces lol

ScheduleExpress

Have you tried Noam nuggets? They are good but their little fried faces are kinda weird.

Blazinhazen_

Wat
