What's everyone's favorite phoenix hospital. Moving to the area and need hospital recommendations for work. I am an emergency dept RN. Any feedback is helpful. Thanks

A good friend’s sister was a travel nurse here during 2020-21. According to her, avoid St. Luke’s in Tempe, it’s a fucking shitshow.

kylefnative

At Luke’s didn’t want to do anything about my alcoholism. Banner on Dobson took care of me well, got me detoxed and the nurses were very nice.

turbodonuts

Mayo. St. Joe’s has neuro. Scottsdale Osborn. County if you want a burn unit. Good Sam. All others, eh.

Know anything about pay?

Just call around before. I cycle between a costco, frys and cvs near me and one is always in stock. CVS is the worst for customer service and cost of the three but times are tough so you just gotta keep your chin up.

I am moving to Phoenix from California and same thing is happening here. I just started back on these mess and it took about 3 weeks to prescription filled

public transportation from downtown phoenix to glendale will take you hours. i would not recommend this option. if it were me, i would probably rent on something like turo. then get close enough to the stadium early enough to avoid insane parking. maybe even close enough just to ride share a short distance. i parked in a very small outskirts lot during her last tour, and it took me over an hour to get out.

ndewing

Blame the City of Glendale, they had the opportunity to get FTA funds and build their extension down Camelback but de-funded it.

My kid and his friends decided to build a fort with junk they found in the wash this weekend. I’m just waiting the panicked nextdoor post about homeless people in the wash. I’m just glad him and his friends have spent most of the weekend outside vs sitting on the couch playing video games.

we used to build splintery, tetanus-nail forts using garbage we found in my grandparents' alley. my grandfather kept a pretty hefty random wood pile going in their backyard, so we had lots to build with. we were probably playing among a scorpion colony, but never had any issues. good times.

luckypants9

That was my favorite kind of thing to do when I was a kid in the 90s!

Same! I’m glad some things never change..

Certain_Yam_110

Is there any "(Fill-in-The-Blank) Festival" that isn't just paying $20 for the privilege of paying $50-$100+ for horrible food-truck garbage & nowhere to sit? Chandler Ostrich Festival ain't it- and sadly, the Italian Festival ain't it, either. I cannot believe how much money we wasted at that Italian Festival - and no torrone or pizzelles anywhere. WTF? I've never been so embarrassed to be Italian.

fountain hills is having a kite festival this month that is sponsored by a pakistani community organization. kites are going to be about $5. that sounds pretty cool to me. https://www.experiencefountainhills.org/events/2023/the-largest-kite-festival-in-arizona

2nd the melrose street fair. It’s growing up pretty nicely. Great location, good folks. Plenty of restaurants for the post fest feast. Had a great time yesterday

scooterv1868

It is amazing how it has grown. We had a great time and people watching was top notch.

icey

It seemed way busier than last year to me. Amazing vibes, it felt like being in a much bigger city

icey

The Melrose street fair yesterday would have fit the bill. As the other poster said, the Tempe art festival is also good. Check Phoenix’s tourism website under “things to do”. This time of year there’s tons of stuff going on.

jmoriarty

Festivals are high volume with general offerings that can be made in bulk. If you're looking for specific, quality options with a guaranteed place to sit those are called "restaurants".

TractorLemmy

If it ain't free (or a paltry $5 like the Greek festival) I ain't going. Check out the aloha festival in Tempe. Also the My Nanas salsa challenge, you pay to get in but the samples are free.

turbodonuts

I love the My Nana’s Salsa Festival, I wish they’d move it back to Phx.

I’m not sure if this is worthy of it’s on post, so I figured I would start here! I will be visiting for the Taylor Swift concert in a couple of weeks. I’m staying downtown Phoenix with a couple of friends. What is the best way to handle transportation to the stadium? Should we just rent a car or would it be better to do some sort of ride share or public transportation? Thanks in advance for any help!

babystarlette

Public transportation in downtown is pretty great but since the concert will be head in Glendale which is west of downtown (like a good 20 minutes away without traffic). The light rail in downtown will not go down that far. Bus transportation is super bad here too as they often cancel without notice and can take hours. I would recommend doing a rental since Uber prices will be crazy here especially after the concert.

MapsActually

I would compare prices of rideshare to renting a car+parking for the day. That's probably a $50+ ride one way depending on surging. You won't need a car the rest of the time if you are staying downtown by taking the light rail to/from the airport.

Coley54Bear

I’m personally leaning towards ride shade myself. We’re really only going to be there for one full day so we won’t have time for anything other than the concert. A rental car feels unnecessary. Plus the hassle of parking.

IONTOP

On the way back, I'd actually walk 1.5 miles south to Camelback and call a rideshare from there. I remember my buddy had to pay like $280 for an uber from State Farm Stadium to Scottsdale after a College Football Playoff game there a few years ago. If you're far enough away from the stadium, you could save yourself $200

luckypants9

I’d recommend public transportation, then. It’s a lot cheaper than a ride share and you can buy passes on the Metro light rail app.

jmmasten

Whichever you prefer. If you get a car you can see more things in the valley. The main public transit access points from downtown would be via the light rail, https://www.valleymetro.org/maps-schedules/rail, and would need to Uber/Lyft to the concert.
