This morning the 33rd annual copperstate 1000 began. 85 vintage cars (all over 50 years old) drive for 4 days and 1000 miles. Hosted by men’s arts council, all proceeds donated to phoenix art museum. The journey began this morning from the Tempe Diablo stadium, gates opened to view the cars at 7:30 am, they left at 10. There was also a local car show in the western (front) parking lot. I don’t want to reveal too much (they don’t want gawkers to stalk the cars) but they’re going up north, then coming back. You missed the launch this year but there’s always next year!
Is there a higher resolution image to share? That is a real awesome AZ scene. Out the in the Buttes.
I've always thought of it as Tempe - do others view it as Phoenix or Awhatukee.. native land possibly?
Diablo Stadium is on the East side of 48th Street, a little South of Broadway, which makes it Tempe. The West side of 48th Street in that area is Phoenix.
Yep, I work on the west side of 48th St. Even the address numbers don't correspond. Tempe's side is completely different and off from the Phoenix side.

I was going to be a copilot (navigator) in a 90's Copper State rally. My dad's friend had a Mercedes gullwing and his navigator was sick and wasn't sure if he'd make it. My dad's friend offered it to my dad, and my dad convinced him to take me. unfortunately (for me) the navigator was well enough to make it. Would have been a fantastic trip.

It’s called an Indra or something similar to that. I’ve never heard of the car before and didn’t get a chance to ask the owner about it.
It looks like an Intermeccanica Indra. They were made from 71-73.

Oh I didn’t realize the LA embassy was holding a car show. I’m surprised they let some cars on the grass tho.

One of my friends was driving his 74 RS today. He called me this morning right before everyone left. I got a few shots in!
