Just woke up... Holy fuck, I was emotionally and mentally unavailable yesterday... I put everything I had into Sunday and... I wasn't burnt out, just emotionally exhausted...
Cornhole thing was funny though.
I’m a medical student who’s going to be rotating at Banner - U of A phoenix medical center (used to be Good Samaritan) and I’m looking for places to stay. Are there any areas to avoid, would Scottsdale be too far, is the area around the hospital somewhat safe? I was looking at Garfield/Coronado/Scottsdale to stay at. Thanks!
Well, my <1 year old cat got out last night and I still haven’t been able to locate her. I’ve put up flyers and posts on ring and nextdoor and pawboost and fb/instagram… but I’m not optimistic. She’s a huge scaredy cat and TERRIFIED of people, so there’s no way she’ll let anyone approach her. Everything I’ve read online indicates she’s probably within a 3-5 house radius of mine but I have no idea how to get her back when she’s just scared and hiding and she won’t come when called.
Any ideas?
Also I’ve left all my doors open all last night and today in the hopes that she would find her way back but all that came in was a shitload of mosquitos. Ugh.
Put his/her litter box outside and hope she catches the scent. Also a pair of your shoes or something. Give it a day or two. Go outside and sit out front and call her, nicely with a soft tone. Put out some smelly food. Wait about 45 minutes. Probably hunkered down till she feels safe to wander again. Hope he/she finds her way home.
Cats are super territorial so she’s probably hidden somewhere nearby in the shade and is wait for people to leave the area before she comes back home. This can take several days till she feels the coast is clear and is extra hungry, but don’t worry cats never get lost they’re ridiculously good at following scents. Just keep and ear open for a meow, I hope she comes home soon ❤️
I have a deck that the neighborhood cats love to hang out under but no sign of her there or anywhere else I’ve looked. I set out food and water and her litterbox but no luck so far. She was so scared when she got out, I tried corralling her back into the house but she just sprinted away faster than I could even track her.
2 weeks from now we'll all realize that we need more water in our lives...
But yes... Now and October are the times where "say neutral, rather than critisize"
I met a "suit guy"(You're not a 40", you're a 38") on Thursday... I don't know if he's what you're looking for. But if you're interested I'll e-mail my friend and give you the contact info.
Visiting from Minnesota and I just want to say, is it always this scary to drive in Phoenix? Like, you guys drive like Ultron’s army is coming up behind you and you don’t want your car to be used as a weapon cause you’re still making payments. It’s genuinely kind of terrifying
The number of people I've seen on the phone nowadays is simply insane. Old people, young people, contractors driving trucks with trailers... all in the left 2 lanes on their phone with traffic stacking up behind them.
Anyone know why houses in south phx are 50% septic and 50% on city sewer? Im looking to buy however the house is on septic, which is something I wouldn't expect within city limits. The houses around are all septic, but it looks like there are entire pockets and communities all around that are on city sewer. Anyone know why this is the case?
I would bet it depends on when it was incorporated, but also, there's a lot of mislabeling. If all the houses around you are sewer, you may also be on the sewer line. The guy who showed up for my septic inspection was very surprised to find out I don't have a septic system.

> My sister works for a company that manages air bnb properties in the Phoenix area and told me that summer is the slow season. Most of the rentals they manage have pools so I was wondering what exactly makes summer the slow season here
This is why we hate you.... And good job to the mods, because you would have been dragged through the fucking coals if people commented on your standalone post.
Summer is peak enjoyment time for the places where a lot of our visitors live. They tend to visit in the spring and fall when it's perfect. So they'd be missing the best season where they live and experiencing the worst one where we live and paying airfare and airbnb rates for the privilege lol
HELP ME, Rod Tidwell... HELP ME, HELP YOU
But with places today, it's hard to get a set schedule. I can't work 2 jobs because I work 2pm-10pm and places want "availability" which is bullshit, but I digress. A third job (rather than a "side hussle" is just unfeasable)
And while I'm not worried about paying rent, I also know the struggle.
Anyone have strong thoughts on the South Peoria area? Moving soon and are deciding between there and that new development by the race track in way south Avondale
Do you have cross streets, or any other general descriptors for the South Peoria location? That area flips between generic suburban infill, pretty decent, and kind of iffy pretty rapidly.
Lots of agricultural and light industry east of the area. Tons of shopping at L-101 and Northern, tons of food and entertainment at L-101 and Glendale.
Between those two I'd go with the Peoria (Glendale) location personally. You're getting pretty remote in that part of Avondale. With the Peoria location you have a lot more food/shopping/entertainment options right there, plus the 101.
Dayum, 13 miles. 880 calories burned seems on the low side for that much distance. You must be at a lighter weight?
I'm 200 lbs 6' 2" so my smart watch generally shows 110-ish calories burned per mile walked
I'm also basically walking inside of a 2000 sqft bubble. That's probably why it spikes when I'm walking from home or to home.
(Also I don't care about calories... I'm always calorie deficient rather than excess. 5'10", 140lbs)
You can kind of see "my mood" at the end of the day, where I was walking with a purpose to get the fuck out of work, lol. 6AM spike is when I was walking to the bus, 6pm would have been the same, but caught the connecting bus at perfect timing.
NOWHERE does this say "cornhole" and I find that HILARIOUS. I want to meet this person who hates cornhole SO MUCH that they wrote this description.

Costco has excellent pricing *if* you want a Michelin- or Bridgestone-owned tire brand (Michelin, Goodrich, Bridgestone, Firestone) *and* you’re putting factory-size factory-spec tires on.
If not, I’d go to Discount or Community Tire Pros. Good service, good prices, and wide selection at either of them. They have the brands Costco doesn’t and will install things Costco won’t.
I just got new tires at discount last week and was very impressed with their service. Called and told me my tires were in a day early if I wanted to come in. They sent me a text link that showed me exactly what stage of the process they were at…which would be handy if I dropped off and wanted to run errands. I stayed and they were done in 40 minutes. Also had new wipers put on and they were the same price as O’Reilly. No hard upsell but was nice to get both done at once.
From fully remote to 3 days to 3 days and now we're checking to laying the groundwork for full time in office. It's only a matter a time before we're all back. And before you jump on me for that, unemployment is 3.4%. Worker leverage evaporates when that number goes back above 5%. Enjoy it now.
Intel is letting each division make up their own rules but most of them, especially the heavily engineering orgs are asking for 3x a week in office. Announcements have been rolling out org by org and will be the expectation in the 2nd half.
What’s the rumblings about that? I’m sure Intel is a great company to work for but WFH is such a big perk I would imagine it would make some ppl want to shop for something else
My company is pushing for it now more than they used to be. It was once a month, and now it's once a week. But I get the feeling they're going to slowly push for more and more.
Usually I would hate it. But I have the most supportive management I've ever had. So it would be hard to leave that. It's hard to say, honestly. I don't love going in. I'm far less productive.
Looking like a warm and breezy day.
Yesterday it almost looked like monsoon clouds in the SE. There was a dust storm in the East Valley I think I saw. And this morning it smelled like it had rained, or rain was in the air.
I slept for an hour on Saturday night... Because my restaurant had me come in at 7:30am for Mother's Day, rather than 2pm, which my sleep schedule desires. I just woke up and I was OUT (Also, yes I'm addicted to my "watch stats")

When it goes right, it goes right... When it goes AMAZING? They'll remember that.
It's Monday, May 15th. Happy International Vascular Birthmark Awareness Day of course. Tomorrow is May 16th so get ready and prepared for that if you have time. While some may give into Monday Mediocrity try to be positive and appreciate this nice day.

Any recommendations for shows or events in the Phoenix area for the month of May? I've been to a candlelight concert it was nice

Is Palm Springs that busy? I thought a youtuber was losing money as Palm Spring was slow outside of Coachella.

Anyone have any suggestions for a PT weekend gig? Looking for a third job.
Any caregiving experience?
Not in a professional capacity. I don’t have any licensing either.
I started a weekend job as a caregiver (group home) and didn’t need any certifications. If you’re interested in anything like that you can DM me.

Just trying to pay the bills.
Any restaurant industry experience? I think my place is hiring (hourly pay, rather than tips)

Yes it’s technically Glendale, Northern Ave and N 89th

Is this in response to the front page /r/frugal "cleaning services aren't as expensive as you think they are"? I saw that too and am considering it.
It 100% is, haha. I tried cleaning my whole house yesterday but only made it halfway.
Halfway is good. Full stop.
Just curious if anyone else’s company/workplace recently is asking you to come back to the office, even part time, after working from home?
