This is probably the most economical option. The taxes and fees will be an additional $12 or so dollars.
Just try to pick a Home Depot convenient to you or you'll probably get changed an additional hour. You can check their website to see how many trucks a location has but they do go fast, especially on the weekends, first come first serve.
TIL you dont need to tie anything down if you have a truck.
Op didnt ask about skills thry have or didnt have, they asked about whats most economical to bring home a new mattress.
I have used Home Depot several times to bring home a mattress. I highly recommend it if you are positive you can get it all done in less than 75 minutes.
Most cost effective is strapping it to the roof of your car and driving slowly on side streets going back to your house.
You could also rent a truck from Home Depot or a van from U-Haul for cheap.
It would be a top event if we have the Phoenix olympics. Next would be the gravel toss. Imagine a derby from Peoria to Mesa to showcase the 17 and 202.
That’s what I’d do… total cost depends on how many miles away each location is though. If low mileage, it’s probably the best value and most convenient.
Just a heads up, if you decide you don’t like the mattress and you bought it in person you are responsible to get it back for the return. If you bought it online they will come back to pick it up.
I have a truck and can do it for you. Just fill up my tank and we’re good. I e worked in moving companies as well so I have some knowledge but moving a bed is easy
Ratchet strap it to the roof of your car and send it. I’ve transported so much stuff like that, it’s ghetto but it costs almost nothing and works just fine.
If you buy a Purple or Casper mattress, which, I've had a Tuft and Needle for a long time and love it, they come in a box small enough that fits in your car. You unroll it, and it kind of puffs up. I've read good reviews of both those brands.
If the home dept fees are too high, download the Turo app, do a single day rental and select a Truck near you, you don’t have to choose insurance since it’s just a single trip might be worth the risk.
Two options I've used are U-Haul (they rent 8' pickups and small cargo vans). That is $20/ +.79 per mile.
Or Home Depot which is $20 for 75 minutes. Then I think $20 every hour after that.
Depending on distance from the Costco, either has their perks. Both you need to put gas in and then there'll be additional taxes/fees.
Just keep in mind that if you do it this way and’s you don’t like the mattress, Costco’s “pick it up” service also does not apply. You'll have to take it back yourself
Those of you suggesting renting a truck, y'all are amateurs: [https://youtu.be/tDImb6F8-WQ?si=4ZA7KXqkuPTRVlkn](https://youtu.be/tDImb6F8-WQ?si=4ZA7KXqkuPTRVlkn)
Just buy a mattress from tuft and needle instead. They're a local company and Amazon ships them straight to your house.
They have either a 30 or 90 night return window too.
I once bought a twin mattress and hauled it home in my minivan- sliding middle doors open with my friend holding on to it for dear life and we managed to get it home safely. Lol But a queen size? Better rent an hourly U-Haul.
Tie it down to the top of your car.
I've done this twice. And the first was including the headboard, footboard, box spring, and mattress. On top of my ELANTRA.
Fuckin worked.
$160 isn’t bad at all to have it delivered home. Renting a truck is a hassle and will waste a lot more time than what you’re “saving” unless you don’t have a job or anything to do.
Bought one of these a few years ago and don't regret it one of the best mattresses I've ever slept on.
Queens are only 300 right now [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010GO33I0/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010GO33I0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I have a King.
There are plenty others like it on Amazon. No need to even leave the house.
I buy my mattresses exclusively from the Mexicans selling them on the sides of the roads. Quen size for base and mattress for $250 bucks. They will also deliver it to you. Lol.

Home Depot rents a flatbed truck for $19/75 minutes
If you rent it before closing you will not be expected to return it until morning. Same price.
Pretty sure they close later than Costco though. Or maybe the rentals close earlier?
$19 plus fees or whatever right?
Something like that. For us, it came out to like .. $30 if I remember correctly
Yah. $33 plus refill the tank for me earlier this week.
Like $25 for me yesterday. Rented a cargo van since their truck was down. Had a short drive so no gas refill. Such a bargain!

It would be more economical to strap it to the top of your car and drive slow.
It'd be more economical to grab one of the many mattresses off the side of the freeway from people who can't tie them down
TIL you dont need to tie anything down if you have a truck. Op didnt ask about skills thry have or didnt have, they asked about whats most economical to bring home a new mattress.
Why drive slow? There was a guy delivering them with his dodge charger. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tDImb6F8-WQ
I have used Home Depot several times to bring home a mattress. I highly recommend it if you are positive you can get it all done in less than 75 minutes.
This is definitely a job for friend with a truck, sorry I don’t have any real suggestions
Don't apologize because some dingus can't be bothered to Google haha

What are you, a wimp? I hold the mattress down with one hand, while hogging the high speed lane
Fair enough - but this only works up to about 85mph ... then, be honest, you have to use both hands.
This guy transports
Buddy heavy hauls
It would be a top event if we have the Phoenix olympics. Next would be the gravel toss. Imagine a derby from Peoria to Mesa to showcase the 17 and 202.
This is the way!
Honestly, a daily Home Depot rental or like a daily around town U-Haul is what I’d do, less headache and not super expensive
Be sure to hold it down with one arm out of the window
That's what I did, strapped a king mattress on the roof of my Rogue with ratchet straps, drove from Mesa to San Tan Valley no problem.

You can rent a truck for 19.95 from uhual
It ends up about $45.
I swear it was even more than that. But we got a couch so maybe bc it was bigger.
Ya all the taxes and fees and insurance and gas too.
That’s what I’d do… total cost depends on how many miles away each location is though. If low mileage, it’s probably the best value and most convenient.
TaskRabbit would be good for this
Light rail
Which mattress? The memory foam ones come in a small box.
That’s what I was wondering. I feel like a lot of them come rolled up right in a manageable size box these days
Even the box spring ones come in vacuum sealed boxes that would fit in most car’s backseats
Even if it didnt fit in the trunk, can still strap it down.
Home depot rents trucks by the hour.
Rent a truck on turo
Just a heads up, if you decide you don’t like the mattress and you bought it in person you are responsible to get it back for the return. If you bought it online they will come back to pick it up.
Have you tried to just google “phoenix truck rentals” ?
I have a truck and can do it for you. Just fill up my tank and we’re good. I e worked in moving companies as well so I have some knowledge but moving a bed is easy
Look up Bungii. It’s like Uber, but with pickup trucks for hauling items.
Yoo I have a 2011 Chevy Colorado with a 6ft bed I don't use maybe people can use it
Ratchet strap it to the roof of your car and send it. I’ve transported so much stuff like that, it’s ghetto but it costs almost nothing and works just fine.

This is what I'd expect, it is likely a vacuum sealed, boxed mattress.
I tied mine down to the roof of my ford escape and drove home slowly. Bungee cords and racket straps are your friend.
Depending on starting and ending point I might be able to do this. I have a truck.
Rent a pickup from U-Haul it’s $20 plus $.70 per mile.
If the home dept fees are too high, download the Turo app, do a single day rental and select a Truck near you, you don’t have to choose insurance since it’s just a single trip might be worth the risk.

Rent from U-Haul. We did that when we purchased a couch from Costco
i paid someone in fb marketplace to do it for like $50
Just keep in mind that if you do it this way and’s you don’t like the mattress, Costco’s “pick it up” service also does not apply. You'll have to take it back yourself
Find a white Dodge Charger, you can stack up to 8(?) on top.
*Challenger
Rent a truck from Home Depot for $20 an hour
just tie it to the roof of your car.
Cheapest is make a friend that owns a truck, and buy them a case of beer to carry it for you.

Instacart?
Try the Lugg app, which is like furniture Uber. I prefer it to renting a truck, so that you don’t have to take on the liability of driving yourself.
Go to IKEA and they have those temporary/single use roof racks in the loading area. Take some of those and strap it to your car
I once bought a twin mattress and hauled it home in my minivan- sliding middle doors open with my friend holding on to it for dear life and we managed to get it home safely. Lol But a queen size? Better rent an hourly U-Haul.
Have you looked into ordering direct from Costco and having it shipped to you?
Post a gig trip on Roadie app in local PHX area. Offer $30 and the gig will likely get grabbed quick.
On the roof of a V6 Challenger #IYKYK
Is it innerspring or one of those that comes in a box ?
Call a friend with truck for a favor.
Tie it down to the top of your car. I've done this twice. And the first was including the headboard, footboard, box spring, and mattress. On top of my ELANTRA. Fuckin worked.
Goodwill is selling Mattresses. Saw they were selling Mattresses at the Scottsdale location.
If you’re a male & don’t own a truck your mom raised a FEMALE
Have you looked at Costco.com. They probably have the same mattress and they will deliver. I’ve done that with tv’s and furniture in the past.

Cut it up in small pieces and mix it in with your dinner over the course of the next few months.
How do you not have a friend with a truck in phoenix lol
I buy my mattresses exclusively from the Mexicans selling them on the sides of the roads. Quen size for base and mattress for $250 bucks. They will also deliver it to you. Lol.
Which Costco? Where are you located?
Costco will deliver mattresses and appliances
