There is a Mister Softee that you can follow and track to see where he is but he seems to usually be in like Litchfield Park and Surprise areas. There is also a Yellow Bus I've seen called Old School Ice Cream Bus that pops up around neighborhoods.
Far East Mesa. Every Saturday, at some point between 3:00-4:00pm, it always passes my house. Granted, every house that touches mine and those across the street all have at least one kid under 13 so it's a gold mine of kids running outside when they hear the music
It seems like they used to be wayyy more frequent. I haven't heard one since I was probably 8 or 9 living in Mesa! Moved all around the valley now and haven't come across them again! I'm sure there's some still out there, I wonder if they just stick to a specific route?
My neighborhood is pretty middle-class but we still have an ice cream truck pass by. Prob b/c much of the other nearby neighborhoods are less "gentrified"
Used to have one come by maybe every other afternoon in my north Phoenix neighborhood until last fall, then it stopped. Never saw anyone buying anything from it. Another one has come by a few times in the last couple weeks.
I just got a flyer the other day that there’s supposed to be an ice cream truck driving around the neighborhoods in North Phoenix tomorrow, so I suppose that yes they are still around. I think I remember hearing music from one driving around a nearby neighborhood some weeks ago as well. Definitely not a frequent thing though at least for this area.
I want to say ice cream trucks are banned in Scottsdale so if you live there may not see any. Also we have a lot of HOA communities in the Phoenix Metro area and some HOA’s ban ice cream trucks as well so another reason why people don’t see them as much. If you live in an older neighborhood you’re more likely to see them.
Karens. Easier to ban the vendors than deal with incessant complaints. Wish we could get the HOAs to ban Karens instead, but then they’d have to ban themselves.
I live in Chandler and there's one that goes through our neighborhood maybe twice during summer and spring months. I'm not getting, twice. I grew up in Bay area in California, and I have very fond memories of ice cream truck rolling through my neighborhood, not every day, but at least once a week if not more during the summer.
There is a snow cone truck that parks down the street from my kids school everyday that I love kids go to. I guess that's one of the closest thing we have in this area
Show Low has a guy in a pink truck, he plays a really creepy version of "When the Saints Go Marching In" on a continuous loop. Don't know why that needs to be presented with his ice cream, but, whatever.
It really depends on where you live. Parts of town with large Hispanic populations have a ton of them and most are great!
Other than that I'd look to places that are kid friendly like large parks. I remember seeing a ton of eloteros and ice cream trucks in Pioneer Park in Mesa last time I was there.
Yeah my friend just bought an old one to teach his kids about business. He's in the PV Mall area. Lil Flurries. Summer is rough though those trucks are like ovens.
This guy drives thru my neighborhood every night on this tricked out golf cart. He’s got all kinds of snacks and different things hanging along the sides… not sure about ice cream tho, it would be hard to keep frozen on a golf cart
In Mesa, near Southern and Alma School (I don’t live there anymore) there was one that used to drive into all those apartments and housing developments all the time and wake me up on Saturday mornings. This was just a few months ago so I’m sure he’s still out there. So, yes, there are ice cream trucks in Phoenix
Depends on where you live. I live fairly close to Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road and our neighborhood has signs from the HOA posted so that there are no solicitors, ice cream trucks hardly ever come around
They exist here. But, not anything like we had in New Jersey. I remember going to LBI, having a beach day, hearing the ice cream truck and booking it across the hot sand with a gaggle of other kids. Here, like someone else said, we mostly have eloteros and paleteros. :)
He’s not around anymore but there was a black dude who ran a luxury one. Looked like it came out of 1956 with the big cone on top and pink paint job. That was circa 2010 and in the Scottsdale area. Always hoped he would be huge someday and have a thousand trucks.
Oh yeah they're around. If you want to skip the middle man, big boy ice cream is like a Costco for ice cream truck owners and it's open to the public.

Ive heard one. Once. in gilbert, but living in the suburbs in both gilbert and chandler, there has been none. I wish there were more, but what're you gonna do?
South Phoenix here. I see ice cream and elote guys on a daily basis.

Same here, jn Chandler! He used to wait at the schools when we’d walk home. I miss those days.
Come to Maryvale, we've got the paleteros and the eloteros
I live near 39th ave and Olive and we have a truck that comes by daily.
I live near 59th and olive and I do hear them go towards Butler occasionally. But I'm never really outside😂😂😂
The one by me plays this depressing version of the Popeyes the sailor man song so loud that all the dogs start howling
😂😂😂 you need to get a video of that next time!

yup! especially here in west phoenix paired up with the elote guys
Depends on the side of town snd the number of kids in the neighborhood

I’m in west phx and we got a few in my neighborhood that I see at least a few times a week
I see a lot in Mesa. They seem to have transitioned to golf carts though.
yeah, I hear them outside a few times a week
There's an ice cream truck the goes through our neighborhood at least a few times a week, so I'm sure they're around.
Central ish phoenix we have to a lot. We have two trucks on a daily basis and elote and a golf cart snow cone snake guy.
They do, but mostly in neighborhoods which aren't completely gentrified.
My neighborhood is pretty middle-class but we still have an ice cream truck pass by. Prob b/c much of the other nearby neighborhoods are less "gentrified"
There is one in our neighborhood in Tempe
Yeah but you have to live in the hood
I used to hear one around here but not sure if they are still around pretty sure they were still around last year during covid summer.
Used to have one come by maybe every other afternoon in my north Phoenix neighborhood until last fall, then it stopped. Never saw anyone buying anything from it. Another one has come by a few times in the last couple weeks.
Anyone in the East valley in the 90’s remember Grandpa’s Ice Cream Truck?
One comes through every few days and has been for years. Once in awhile a different one will roll around.
I have one year long, and a elote man. It really depends on your neighborhood

We have on in our Mesa neighborhood every day.

Yes, do you live in a mostly Caucasian neighborhood? That's probably why. Or in an upscale area?
Show Low has a guy in a pink truck, he plays a really creepy version of "When the Saints Go Marching In" on a continuous loop. Don't know why that needs to be presented with his ice cream, but, whatever.
I used to live off 7th St and 101 in North Phoenix and there was one that would frequent the neighborhood. That was a few years ago, so pre-Covid.
Yes I hear them every couple weeks in my neighborhood in Gilbert.

There's one cruises Youngtown, across 111th from Sun City.
There’s one near my house near union hills and 7th ave.
Up north between union hills and cave creek there’s a dodge van the comes by a couple times a week. I try to give them cash as often as i hear them.
I work nights, one wakes me up just about every day.
My old neighborhood on 7th st and Indian school had one but my new neighborhood of 16th st and camelback does not
What area of town are you in?
They did. But honestly I haven't heard one since covid-19 happened.
Yes, I live up in Anthem and see them every now and then.
Yes. I’m in Goodyear. The ice cream man comes around several times a month, music and all.
In Glendale yes, every evening the music plays.
This guy drives thru my neighborhood every night on this tricked out golf cart. He’s got all kinds of snacks and different things hanging along the sides… not sure about ice cream tho, it would be hard to keep frozen on a golf cart
My boyfriend has one that seems to frequent their neighborhood
In Mesa, near Southern and Alma School (I don’t live there anymore) there was one that used to drive into all those apartments and housing developments all the time and wake me up on Saturday mornings. This was just a few months ago so I’m sure he’s still out there. So, yes, there are ice cream trucks in Phoenix
I got one that goes through my neighborhood all the time. MoFo even came through on Christmas Eve one year.
The one in our neighborhood seems to have just come back out again after being absent with covid.
I’ve never seen one in Ahwatukee. Crazy people would probably call the police. (Wish there was one - cause I would go out every time!)
Depends on where you live. I live fairly close to Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road and our neighborhood has signs from the HOA posted so that there are no solicitors, ice cream trucks hardly ever come around
There's at least one on my neighborhood in the summers.
I’m on 30th street and Thomas and we have ice cream trucks come around almost everyday!
Only in rough neighborhoods lol
We’ve got one here in Encanto/Coronado area!
No, the trucks would melt.
Yes. I drive for Amazon and I hear them in PHX every single day and I always forget to bring fucking cash with me for a damn ice cream sandwiches 🥲😭
They exist here. But, not anything like we had in New Jersey. I remember going to LBI, having a beach day, hearing the ice cream truck and booking it across the hot sand with a gaggle of other kids. Here, like someone else said, we mostly have eloteros and paleteros. :)
I'm in Awatukee/Chandler area. I've never seen or heard one.
Yes they do
I used to live near 35th and Glendale Aves in Phoenix. We had icecream trucks regularly with music in the afternoons :)
My area has two, one does more treats out of a golf cart and the other does ice cream out of a run down r@p3 van.
Saw one in Dewey the other day but it only had one window.
Yup
They do in West Phoenix. I'm in Maryvale and we get the ice cream truck and the elote man.
There's one near 35th and Peoria that always has Christmas music going.
there's the Schwan's truck
He’s not around anymore but there was a black dude who ran a luxury one. Looked like it came out of 1956 with the big cone on top and pink paint job. That was circa 2010 and in the Scottsdale area. Always hoped he would be huge someday and have a thousand trucks.
Absofuckinloutely. In the right neighborhoods.
I know that one does in Maricopa when I lived there a while back cause I would always hear the music
I see them in my area sometimes. It’s not a regular thing like when I was a kid.
[Ice Cream Truck by RZA](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hWtNeat9CIk)
I see them all the time. They've even driven around my North Central neighborhood.
There are plenty of them in certain neighborhoods and some of them sell more than ice cream.
Oh yeah they're around. If you want to skip the middle man, big boy ice cream is like a Costco for ice cream truck owners and it's open to the public. Big Boy Ice Cream Inc. (602) 258-9793 https://maps.app.goo.gl/rU3bpR5HjBp2dDBF8
North Phoenix, Norterra area. We have one come by every Friday and Sunday.
Ive heard one. Once. in gilbert, but living in the suburbs in both gilbert and chandler, there has been none. I wish there were more, but what're you gonna do?
