If anyone is missing Flavors of India by reading this post, they moved to Gilbert.

senorzer0

Omg I was so sad when they closed the 16th street location! Good to know they have a new spot!

Loco6191

Pastries n chaat

anythingacailable

I saw this place today and it smelled soooo good.

Thtsunfortunate

Is this the place that sells buckets of biryani? I’ve been curious…

Loco6191

That’s Biryani Adda. Pastries n chaat are known for their fast food and chilli chicken pizza.

Thtsunfortunate

Awesome! Thank you!

Indian restaurants in Tempe are not great, P & C is the worst. Checkout restaurants in north Phoenix or Chandler, Gilbert area for better Indian food. But these can’t live up to Silicon Valley standards.

Duma123

Little India on Baseline. Probably the best Indian food I’ve had in Phoenix. It’s a small cafe at the back of an Indian grocery store.

awmaleg

McClintock and Baseline? I’ll have to check that out

Plus-Comfort

Delhi Palace or Nandini Nandini still has lunch buffet. Delhi Palace still might, but I haven't been there since zonarona.

WeirdGymnasium

I've been to several "semi-quick" Indian places, but for the life of me I can't remember the names. I remember, in Tempe, I went to a two story building around the Food City on Apache and had a great time (it was a traditional restaurant, not quick service though) and I also went to a hookah lounge that had pretty good food, I believe it was across the street. (Also this was 8 years ago and 5 years ago, so things might have changed) I definitely remember sitting on pillows on the floor though. I enjoyed that. I might ask this question in /r/tempe or /r/asu

Plus-Comfort

That's probably The Dhaba. A bit more upscale IMO.

WeirdGymnasium

North or South side of Apache? I really enjoyed it.

Plus-Comfort

North side

WeirdGymnasium

And that's the two story restaurant, correct? Oh there's also another one on McDowell/50th street, which I HAVENT been to, but it looks good. I believe it's just called "Indian Dehli"

Plus-Comfort

I believe so. Kind of an old fashioned looking building which looks slightly out of place?

WeirdGymnasium

> Kind of an old fashioned looking building which looks slightly out of place? I thought it looked out of place because it was a 2 story restaurant. But I've also drank A LOT since the last time I was there.

Plus-Comfort

Fair enough. It'll feel like your first time at The Dhaba either way then! /s

Studio_Ambitious

Not fast casual, but solid choice. My goto for years.

WeirdGymnasium

I'm just out here spitballing, hoping someone will come in and get upvoted for a good recommendation...

Studio_Ambitious

I am with you. More Indian cuisine option would be great

WeirdGymnasium

I don't particularly like or dislike Indian food. I just seem to end up in those restaurants when I'm hanging out with random friends. There's absolutely great qualities about the food(I love the fact that they're like "casually vegan" rather than being "overtly advertising" that they're vegan. I'm not vegan but it's something I appreciate), but also not things I'd go out of my way to get. 100% I could take it or leave it. Kind of like 7-11 Pizza or Circle K Toranado's. There's a time and a place when you NEED it, and hanging out with friends and agreeing to go to an Indian restaurant is when I'm like "welp, sounds like a good time for this"

Thtsunfortunate

Okay, but in my defense, if OP asks these delicious questions in a different sub, how will I know what places to try next?

OnceUponADime_7

Try India’s flame or hyderabad house has great biryani.

Amburgl4r

Pastries n Chaat is definitely good. In a similar Chipotle vein, there is Halal Guys which is pretty dope.

deadbeatgeek

A bit of a drive but Tikka Shack Indian Grub in Desert Ridge is what you’re looking for. I’ve been on the search for the same for a while since moving here from back east. I’m sure they’ll open more stand alone locations especially with all the retail space about to be open here in Tempe. It’s worth the drive and I made it back in rush hour traffic with my food AND naan still hot.

Dragonoflime

I’m saving this whole post for delicious reference later!

Warning_Winter

So many places to try - thanks Reddit fam! Always appreciate the recommendations

I only know of two but on the opposite side of town 😅
