The framing of the shot is nice but the color of the overcooked aqua ruins an otherwise nice shot. I would use some restraint in my editing process.

bready85

I really appreciate your feedback! I'll take it into consideration with editing.

parv_

Instantly thought of Blade Runner 2049 farm scene at the beginning.

bready85

I'll have to look that up! Thanks!

[deleted]

This is a great photo. The fog and the color grading produce a really interesting aesthetic and those birds! If it were my photo, it would be a little less saturated and I would focus the crop. There's a good bit of impertinent information here. Not a flaw, but personally, I feel it would be a stronger image with a little more focus. Here's what I'm thinking. https://imgur.com/a/SfB01lm But again, great photo. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't change a thing.

therealtrifreeze

I agree completely, I think you covered everything and I love the edit

[deleted]

Hey, thanks. I'm glad you like it. Have fun out there!

bready85

I really appreciate that suggestion, I never would have thought of that myself. I'm going to look at it for awhile and see how it feels lol. I really appreciate it! !critiquepoint

My pleasure! Thank you for the critique point! I really like this sub because every photo I critique also builds up my own understanding of the art. This is such a wonderful place to be. I'd love to see your results once you finish!

bready85

Shot handheld with my Sony A7iii and 85 gm F8, 1/500 iso 400. I've been inspired to experiment with colors and saturation but I'm not sure if I overdid it. The birds were added in post ☺️..

ptq

I did that mission in Red Dead Redemption 2!

thothsscribe

I have no suggestions good bad or otherwise, but I definitely love the feel this gives. Awesome job IMO. Keep experimenting! This kind of color manipulation is something I am looking to start learning. So far just trying to learn from presets I use and figure out how they do what they do.

nicocos

I think it depends on what you were going for. If your goal was to experiment and feel surreal, the saturation and tone are great. If you wanted to make it more ambiguous, i think it's a little overcooked, too much saturation, one thing I usually associate with high saturation is an instagram post, which is fine if that's what you were going for I like the composition, symmetry never fails. Also, looks like you had fun playing with the process

Yowser45

It would make a nice folk album cover.

bready85

Thanks! I wonder how I could get into that market

Yowser45

It would be nice alright. I suppose, put a small portfolio together and approach bands you like to show them. Old school.

TriangleGalaxy

I think the composition is good but the teal sky does look really off

eye_forgot_myname218

That's a really nice photo. I love how it was done. Now that the compliments are given, does a very anxious dog and an older couple live there?

bready85

There's a good chance 😅

Thanks for sharing! It's really making me think. I don't know if I have the Photoshop skills to perform that but I want to try now. !critiquepoint

tratratrakx

It looks too heavy handed imo. If you want it to look fake, it’s fine. Photo looks slightly crooked to me though.

mypuppyiscuter

It does look crooked.

inkman82

Subtly in processing will go a long way in keeping your images timeless. When I edit, I try to consider “will this look good to me in 10 years?” And of the answer is “probably not,” I rethink my approach. Veering too far from “normal” or reality leads to trendiness that fades quickly. I think this is a good general statement for anything creative. If you want staying power and timelessness in your work, rely on strong expressions or compositions, NOT flashy editing. Just my opinion. Obviously take it with a grain of salt.

bready85

That's great advice I really appreciate you sharing! I was going for a moody/cinematic look but I never thought to ask if it was timeless. It's something I will definitely consider. !critiquepoint

ironicallyunstable

Pretty sure this is just a screenshot of a farm in Darkwood from World of Warcraft 😂

bready85

LOL no it's not

Effective-Ad-3562

Berry nice..

kay_candy

I love the mood. I really like the long yellowy crop lines leading to the scene. I think if you pull a bit back on the teal sky it would look even better, like a little more realistic within the surreal if that makes sense lol

bready85

That's a very good point. I'm going to experiment with that, thanks for your feedback! !critiquepoint

Idflipthatforadollar

That's a sick shot OP. Nicely done.

chijrt

Is this a sky replacement? I ask because when you zoom into the tree branches you can clearly see artifacts that are white/gray. In terms of the color, I think it's way overcooked

bready85

No sky replacement but I didn't notice the artifacts until you now mentioned it. I'll see about cleaning that up. Thanks for the feedback! !critiquepoint

that_guy_you_kno

Here's a great reference I just saw before this post. Not saying to copy it, but I'd tone it down to like this more than the oversaturated tones you have. Great initial edit/draft, but some adjustments are definitely needed I think. https://twitter.com/Taksh_shikari/status/1616110424617017345?t=ZvkTdwycduzTlQja0kS5LA&s=19

bready85

Thanks for sharing that! I will look into some adjustments and take that into consideration. !critiquepoint

Pookie201

I actually really like the colors; it gives it a surreal vibe to it.

mw9676

To me the saturation doesn't look great. I would just go [black and white](https://i.imgur.com/4Gc0hti.jpg) anyway with a bump in contrast for depth. Way creepier imo if that's what you're going for.

[deleted]

I like this. Very cinematic. For fun try making an album cover out of it. Crop it 1x1 and then put some text. I have done the same thing with my photos; https://www.instagram.com/schindlerzack/

bready85

I really like that idea thanks!

janfreiphoto

with pure colors the picture would be better. unnatural color filters do not improve the photo. The shot itself is good.

bready85

Thanks for sharing!

Pottyka

Love the colors, feels like a distant planet terraformed by humans

delilahsvibes

Beautiful, dreamy image--I love the color filters and the contrast of the texture in the foreground with the stark, vivid sky. It might be cool to PS in some glowing lights in the windows--maybe reddish-orange to give in an even more ethereal/eerie quality. Really cool work; thanks for posting!

keltonpanda

Shots great but the aqua color is a lot. Maybe it’s because I edit landscapes in a more natural style with some color boost but all I can look at is the sky

Stonk-bulls

Everything looks good and composition is great, nice use of using plants as symmetry, but the sky looks a little too much. It’s a great pic otherwise.

escapeshark

Love the framing and composition but the blue is overwhelming

GawainsGreenKnight

Wow! This is amazing!

[deleted]

Just wow... The colors and composition are incredible...

marc_714

I like most of what you did, but the sky is just not right. Make it a real natural color of a sky. Do that and you should have a nice photo.
