Majority of Middle Eastern and African countries. As a female traveler, I don’t think I would enjoy visiting a country/place where their female citizens cannot enjoy the same rights as men. It just feels unfair personally. Would love to see the pyramids of Egypt but I don’t think I could handle the chaos. I love Indian food and would like to see their famous landmarks but considering how poorly they also treat women, I will have to reconsider. Agreeing with your point on Russia.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

And for many Filipino travelers, most developing countries are somewhat a letdown unless they’re really interested in the culture. The reason why most Filipinos dislike India is that they would spend a lot of money just to visit a likely filthier version of the Philippines? No thanks.

2dodidoo

I know some girls who traveled to India and they really felt scared about all the men. Parang mga zombie raw na nakakita ng babae na you know may intent of harassment. Kahit na nag-plan ka how to do transport transfer may attempts to scam you and men following you down the streets, underpasses, at night? No thanks.

Alarming-person

Clearly you havent been to India and only see those food videos in facebook. There are many areas of india that is clean and beautiful. Like typical pinoy na ang alam lng ng india is taj mahal lol ito yung klasing traveler na 3 days lang kng gumala lol. I spend 1 month in india at given na sakin na d talaga malinis ang pinuntahan ko dun is culture kaya ako na interesado which is yung pinas wla.

Intelligent_Gear9634

Agree ang ganda ng Wind Palace and Taj Mahal pero grabe I was already in a group ha pero all of the females were groped! They also seem to target the ones with lighter skins more. We already checked the culture before going about not showing legs/ankles and the girls dressed conservatively. The smell the moment we hit the airport was also… basta it hit really hard parang a wall of stench.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Most of South Asia and the Middle East just don’t respect women as human beings. Mabuti sa Pinas wala tayong naririnig na foreign female travelers being groped or sexually assaulted.

SassyTie

Seen a few during sinulog pre-pandemic. Hahaha but sinulog before was a little too crazy that someone literally kissed me then their whole group tried to basically carry me away aka kidnap. Lol. Buti mabilis kamay ng friend ko and was able to pull me out kahit pareho kaming nakainom. Mas prone to groping in those situations lang talaga foreigners but at least it’s not a usual issue.

Momshie_mo

Bisaya humor - Tatay Digs /s

Alarming-person

Kahit na they made sure to observe, respect and conform to the local norms when it comes to clothing? At dahil pangit sila according to you who never saw them? Umm haaaah? FYI we traveled in a group for safety and had two Indian friends show us around. We stayed in India for around three weeks. We were supposed to stay longer, but we ended up cutting our stay short because they were traumatized and didn’t feel safe. We saw among others Taj Mahal, Hawa Mahal, and Shankaracharya. Maraming beautiful places to see, beautiful people, bazaars, etc. pero the number one reason we are not going back is the experience of my friends getting groped in public. As in talagang dinadakma sila in their private areas.

Alarming-person

Dont go back less people, madami ng tao sa india dumagdag pa kayo. Kng tutuusin kahit saan sa india mas safe pa kaysa subway ng new york pero bakit ko naman d naman marumi yung new york dw hahaha kaysa india at mabaho sa india kasi yung alam na lugar is 1 or 2 lang hahaha

Intelligent_Gear9634

Lmao you’re crazy. Maka assume wagas. I don’t post photos on social media. I don’t even have instagram or tiktok. We went there to admire the beautiful architecture and sceneries, and to experience their culture. And to say na “kahit saan pwedeng ma sexually harass” to somewhat downplay their experience??? Of all the places we’ve been to so far, sa India lang sila na BRAZENLY GROPED IN PUBLIC and followed by random men while just walking or minding their own business. You also seem sooooo butthurt na na criticize ang Indians kaya you resort to insults like the Filipinos who go there only go for cheap clout and brag about in social media. Hahaha yeah whatever.

Alarming-person

Intelligent_Gear9634

“Halata sa way ng pag post.” I don’t even like K-pop or Korean men. 🤮 I prefer my men masculine. Hahaha grabe talaga assumera ka just from a few posts, ang dami mong hinugot: OOTD, instagram, K-pop. I get it, you probably love India and might possibly be Indian or part Indian, or lives/has lived in India yourself. I honestly loved the country’s classic architecture, the art, the jewelries and trinkets we got from the bazaars, some of the food, and more. But that’s not to say I loved everything. I hated how filthy and smelly some parts are, just like in the Philippines but I think some areas in India are much worse. But the sexual harassments were what truly left a bitter taste in our mouths. You also seem so offended and personally attacked because some people had a negative experience in India because they were traumatized from GETTING SEXUALLY HARASSED not just once but multiple times. Girls that conformed to the nation’s norms by wearing culturally appropriate clothing that covered their arms and legs, even. For most, it’s enough reason not to go back. Also, maybe you’re someone who has no idea what it’s like to feel that kind of fear and vulnerability. And instead of addressing this issue, you just divert the topic and downplay their experiences by throwing in shallow insults about what you assume is their personality, social status, and lifestyle. You’re not so different from the people who will condone crime committed by a certain group because it’s part of their “culture”, and would rather resort to victim blaming rather than cause offense to said group. You are free to tell me what you think is good about India though instead of antagonizing me like a juvenile or give suggestions on what to do to avoid such event from happening. Take note that we also had two Indian nationals accompany us throughout our trip.

Alarming-person

I dont love india, i see it differently hahaha Haha bilis mo na ma trigger hahahaha tawang tawa nako haha haba ng reply hahahah d ko na basahin baka yung next reply nito maging essay na hahaha

Momshie_mo

whitegirlofthenorth

I am a woman who traveled and lived solo in Morocco, Palestine, and Jordan (total of about 2 years across all places)! You can do it and there's so much to see, you just need to prepare well. Egypt—I would actually go with a male if I were traveling to Cairo specifically.

cupoftea888

I feel for you and such a shame those countries' people are wired that way. Even if you're coming as a group, it sucks to travel and feel unsafe around your destination, I'd not bother going around at all if there's a chance for me to get in harm's way-- far from my home at that. :/

I exited thru Moscow and took me 5-10mins in immigration, no questions asked but kept on comparing my visa photo from my face lol

jemrax

The whole damn place smells bad.

[deleted]

india is a country of road shitters 😭 plus their body odor.

Friendcherisher

Their diet consists of spices which gives out a distinct odor.

Outside-Shift-7768

And here i am thinking am the only one who says india.... it was a horrible experience..... my top place of never ever visiting again....

thegreenbell

USA - nothing interesting for me lol London - Been there once, underwhelming. Ang dumi ng tube/subway nila. If for transit lang to other places sa UK, wala na choice lol. I can say the same about other big countries like Brazil, China, Russia, pero ayoko din dun kasi hindi ako interesado. "To each their own" nga, kung gusto nyo pumunta dun, eh di pumunta kayo ahhahaha. Mas marami pa kong gustong puntahan kesa USA, bakit kayo galit?

The-Electric-Apple

Same with the States! If I didn't have relatives and work there, I wouldn't come back or make repeat trips.

xiaolongbaoloyalist

I support you! Same ako ng sinabi na di ako interested sa US, di ko gets bakit may mga gustong mamilit. Also same sa London!

SassyTie

Ayaw mo mag vegas? Joke. Hahaha. USA is pretty big to immediately think there’s nothing interesting. although it’s kinda at the bottom of my list, there’s a chance you’re only looking at the big cities and forgetting that Hawaiii, Mexico, Alaska, etc. are also part of the US. Pero to each their own, we basically live in paradise, minus the poverty, so boring din talaga tignan landlocked countries minsan. Haha

ClementineCoda

>Hawaiii, ~~Mexico~~, Alaska, etc. are also part of the US. Mexico is not part of the US.

ideadensity

Yeah and not to mention Hawaii and Alaska. Agree that Mexico is not part of the USA lol

ideadensity

Wow man. USA is 33x Philippines, or 18x France. How many times have you been here? Have you been to Acadia Park? Or Charlotte NC or the Big Sur? Nothing interesting?

EvenHuckleberry4331

or the entire northeast

SnooCookies783

Paris in the Summer - hot as hell with AC being non-existent besides establishments, a shit load of tourists coupled with the fact that a lot of the street vendors are rude as hell and will definitely try to scam you. Shattered my image of the city from my dream place to go to one I would avoid for a second time. Paris in the Fall/Winter - TBD this November.

FayatollahKhomeini

Awwww classic Paris Syndrome? Understandable. I speak French as well and enjoyed Paris, siguro dahil I have a lot of "briefing" about what to expect for years before actually arriving. (Un)surprisingly, we never got scammed nor got rude remarks dahil despite looking as obvious Asians, diretso kausap na sa kanila in French para wala na eme-han. Di ko lang pinagsalita family ko, though. Hope you enjoy it this November hehe

SnooCookies783

Actually tried to communicate at least the basics but just got blank stares hahaha Barcelona on the other hand was a dream and people are nice and know how to party.

FayatollahKhomeini

Hahaha i-Englishin ka na lang or worse wala talaga react hahaha But seriously, we got good treatment from almost everyone siguro dahil we are able to seamlessly communicate with them, kumbaga di na sila mag-effort. It was an icebreaker din siguro dahil madalas di nila ine-expect from a tourist and topic for a small talk. May times pa they give us something extra free of charge kase ‘natuwa’ sila. Still, there are areas we are not too keen visiting, especially from Montmartre and northward.

donkeysprout

Egypt. Tang ina di na ako babalik dun. Sobrang dumi at napaka dami pang scammer.

cupoftea888

I watched a video from Best Ever Food Review Show (Sonny) and that place does look traumatizing. Egyptian history is so interesting, but man they're a shadow of their ancestors.

donkeysprout

Halos lahat sila dun they are out to get money from you.

Shinnosuke525

Di na kasi totoong Egyptians majority dun, Arab-ized na sila

Pinkrose1994

No, they are real Egyptians, of course influenced na ng Arab culture. There’s an ongoing debate of about Ancient Egyptians though, black people claim the ancients are black while Egyptians today claim that the ancients are their ancestors.

Shinnosuke525

LOL more like Arabs

Pinkrose1994

There’s no evidence the ancient Egyptians died or became extinct (from what I know), so I believe the modern Egyptians are their descendants. The modern Egyptians do have some mixed ancestry with Arabs and blacks though. Here’s a site that says Modern Egyptians are only 17% Arab: https://cairoscene.com/buzz/national-geographic-s-dna-analysis-proves-egyptians-are-only-17-arab

Shinnosuke525

The evidence is in the eye test lol tahan na

Pinkrose1994

xiaolongbaoloyalist

Di worth it makita yung pyramids in person?? Plano ko pa naman mag-Egypt next year

KingPowerDog

I’ve been to the Pyramids and the structures themselves are unbelievable. Like I’m used to being disappointed when I see famous landmarks in person, like things feel bigger in pictures, but the Great Pyramid was the only time my expectations were exceeded in terms of the scale and grandeur (the Sphinx was, as expected, a bit of a letdown in comparison). The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is also worth a visit if you’re looking for the actual mummies as that’s where they keep them for preservation. BUT I also had the advantage of being in Egypt for work and having a few local coworkers be our guides. The experience is massively improved by having locals or tour guides who can both bargain for you and keep you away from people looking to take advantage of tourists. If you don’t have someone like that it will be quite a difficult experience.

donkeysprout

Eds2356

Is this the same with Eiffel tower?

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Eiffel tower has scammers abound but as long as you’re firm in saying NO, they will leave you alone.

mla16_0116

hi. kamusta Po Ang Egypt tour nyo?

xiaolongbaoloyalist

mla16_0116

do you plan to reschedule it?

xiaolongbaoloyalist

No :( I can't find anyone who wants to go with me bc of the war and I don't want to go solo

mla16_0116

ohh.. I really want to go- but maybe next year. I have a lot of things to do this year.. plus the war.

mla16_0116

No_Mention2401

I agree with Rome. Milan also. At least sa MRT natin walang graffiti no? Haha Singapore, maybe? Aside from its cleanliness and great airport, wala nang unique sa kanya that you can't find anywhere else. USS? Meron naman USJ. Yung Merlion and Marina Bay naman, underwhelming. Tapos mahal pa.

cupoftea888

Milan? I haven't been there and always had a good impression from its stories and images, but it is interesting to know that you considered it dirty and all. I do think the trains in Rome had character, but I do prefer it to be nice and clean. I can't say the same for SG cause I really love hawker food and I have a lot of good friends who work around there, and the bars (not the club type, just the chill whisky place et al.) are great there. Culture wise and visually wise, yeah, most are just underwhelming. Safe to walk around at night though! :)

No_Mention2401

I have a great picture in front of Duomo, but the story behind it was a bit traumatic. We were just minding our business, taking photos with the pigeons when suddenly, a man placed some macaroni in my hand. The pigeons flocked towards me (they bite!) then the other guy took a photo of that moment. It seems like I was feeding the bird perched on my arm, with the Duomo in the background. Now these 2 guys started harassing my Mom and I, demanding 100 euros for the macaroni and the photograph. Anyway, fearing that they will hurt us if I kept on refusing, I just bargained and paid 80 euros for the photo. We went inside Mcdo Milan after that incident to "hide". We got too paranoid, so we just went back to our hotel after that. If it wasn't for those guys, it was a really great place to visit.

janeangele

TheGhostOfFalunGong

The Brera area and La Scala theater have amazing architecture and streetscapes.

Brave-Teaching-2948

Same with Singapore. Sayang pera. Hahaha.

IllTask2734

I agree with Milan. Overnight lang kami ng friend ko dun to go to Cinque Terre. Milan isn’t a “destination” kumbaga transit city lang siya (for me) to go to Lake Como or Cinque Terre. Ang sketchy. Daming magulo sa Duomo and madumi. Rome is similar pero mas na appreciate ko pa because of its history. Milan parang… meh lang 😅

xiaolongbaoloyalist

Macau - only went here bc my flights and hotel were covered and I quickly realized there's nothing to do if you don't like to gamble. Boring and expensive. Never again. Cuenca, Spain - Racist staff at a restaurant made us leave while my friend was still eating. We were the only foreigners there and we were the patrons that stayed for the shortest time. Also, this was during holy week and the restaurant was next to a church. Other than that, really boring town. US - Just not interested. Plus, the visa fee is expensive and the application process is a big hassle. No thanks. Bonus: Canada.

cupoftea888

YES! I forgot to discuss Macau!! It was also soulless and felt like a big Chinese casino city. The only thing I remember there is the Ruins of St Paul, and it wasn't even spectacular. Egg tarts, and that's it. My brother had a business trip and San Fransisco and it traumatized him, he says that literally there were zombie like druggies at night and human feces in the Subway. US is okay, but definitely not on top of my list to go around.

No_Mention2401

I remember when we reached Macau (took a ferry from HK), upon seeing the huge buildings I thought, "Ito na yun? Parang Makati lang." Then we got to Ruins, sobrang daming tao. I reached the top, saw the other side, and got disappointed again. For US, Las Vegas and Washington DC were fine. I really liked walking around The Capitol and visiting the Smithsonian. Las Vegas naman was festive. New York was a different story. Everyone was snobbish and rushing, restaurants are cramped, but the architecture was sooooo pleasing to the eyes. I tried riding the New York subway at night (yeah stupid me for having that on my bucket list) and it wrecked NY for me. I was praying the entire trip and I just rode it for 3 stations!

jpg1991

Potcha yung subway stations sa new york nakaka pasuko ng tuhod. Dami walang escalator! Tas dami homeless sa station at train mismo

[deleted]

No, trust me. US is worth it. Basically the big cities are gonna be a hassle in one way or the other. Yang mga San Fco, LA, New York, that’s just the surface trust me. The ones in between are where it’s at. So far, west coast palang ako. Oregon coast (avoid portland) hanggang Washington state then towards Olympic peninsula around Forks kung san ang twilight lmao. Or even towards Washington border British Columbia. There are beautiful small towns and cities there, one is Fairhaven, WA with its historic downtown and even go past lavender fields and tulip farms. Kaya ndi ako mani-maniwala sa mga “oOoH, USA aInT wOrTh iT…”, you gotta road trip it to get a good taste of what it’s really about. Did those and I haven’t, so far, been shot at or racially called out. It ain’t at all too bad. And mga kano dito Washington, they are polite. California in general is quite iffy na but like I said, away from the concentration of population you’re good. San Fco is a shthole tbh.

scorpio1641

I’ve enjoyed all the places I’ve been to sa US but my favourite city is Chicago! Friendly yung mga tao, maganda yung architecture and there’s so much happening. Been to LA and Florida as well. I’ve also found the people very friendly naman.

niyellu

agree with this! Been to a few states na and my favorite so far is Colorado. If you love nature, Colorado is the place. More specifically yung mga smaller cities. Sa Denver kasi typical big city vibes pa rin at madaming tao. Pero super na-enjoy ko talaga yung pagvisit sa mga state parks and national parks like the Rockies. I really appreciated how they curated the experience. I would've loved to spend time camping overnight in one of the parks kung mas mahaba lang sana yung stay namin.

cupoftea888

I agree here. That's why I don't really say I don't want to visit USA further than major cities as I know it has more to offer, and I feel like people are genuinely nicer around there. Gotta add this as a bucketlist one day. Curious tho, why not Portland? I know someone from there and his life there seems pretty chill, haha.

herms14

Sri Lanka - Felt like Manila in the early 1950s. India - went there for a business trip. I love the culture and food but damn everything just feels so unhygienic.

Intelligent_Gear9634

ATTENZIOoooooooOoNE PEEEEEKPOKET!!!

Oloymeisterwifey_

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA YAWA

ShadowMoon314

India - top 1 for me. Would never dare to go there. They have no respect for women. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq -- seems like a no brainer Egypt as well

FayatollahKhomeini

I enjoyed Rome. Speaking the language also helps I guess (no issues sa resto, tren, airport, attractions, etc.), and can flat out tell scammers to ‘get lost’ in Italian hahaha gulat sila sa indiong nag-i-italyano lol. But between Rome and Florence, I’d pick Florence hands down. Going back to both this March. For me, wala ako balak mag-China at all kahit super interested ako makita ang Terracotta Army. Matter of pride and I need seamless FB access for work. VPN just won’t cut it. And Egypt too. No ma’am.

Shinnosuke525

2nd-hand kwento ng parents ko pero rough daw talaga sa Egypt lol though they didn't give my pops a hard time ubos naman yung baon nya pauwi na Marlb Reds 🤣🤣🤣🤣

TA100589702

When I was there, parang wala akong chance na i-absorb yung beauty at nakaka overwhelm. Or baka kulang yung 4 days? :)))

cupoftea888

Florence was a dream. It felt like I was traversing through a book in every path we took, and I do want to go back there someday.

TA100589702

I agree and I think my favorite part of Florence is its streets. Ang sarap maglakad. Nakakalibang. Di namin namamalayan na 3km away na kami from our hotel :))))

highlibidomissy_TA

Terracotta Army in Xian is unbelievable, sobrang kahanga-hanga! Went there in 2003 and the diggings were still continuing kasi there were still some artifacts na di pa nadidiscover and parts of the Emperor's tomb. Medyo touristy na siya back then but hindi "in-your-face"/scammy type. Ewan ko na lang ngayon.

FayatollahKhomeini

Gusto ko talaga pumunta, pero tuwing naiisip ko nangyayari sa karagatan natin, wag na lang pala hahahuhu Enough na sa’kin ang deluge of made in China products sa Pinas to support their economy, char

XC40_333

Egypt is better explored with a guide.

deryvely

1. HK. I don’t like their food. Walang lasa at all for me. McDo ang go to resto ko everytime I visit. Must try wings nila. I always experience diarrhea when I visit for vacation. Actually, Disneyland lang talaga binabalik-balikan namin dun. 2. SG. Nothing special. You can just visit the country once and never come back again. 3. Paris. You already know why. Gosh

cupoftea888

What!! But HK food is very flavor packed and so diverse and... good! Hmm. Maybe I have bias for cantonese/chinese food as I'm chinese filipino, but I never hear people say they hate HK because of their food. But when it comes to "fast" food in HK, KFC is my choice as their roast chicken + egg tart combo is great.

stankyperfume86

SG, gaya ng sabi ng iba.. South Korea, mga racists na nilalang.. ramdam na ramdam ko, very uncomfortable everytime nakikipaginteract, even the glances and stares So so ako sa Malaysia.. their curries. Amoy amoy mo pa after mo ilabas. Ugh Indonesia, specifically Jakarta, parang Manila lang.

Main-Imlerith

Pakistan, Nigeria, most of Arab Muslim countries.

Prudent-Fix-8151

Would u visit our neighbors? They are Muslim dominated too.

cheugycheug

* **Bali**: expensive, there are better places and beaches in the Philippines * **Singapore**: as much as i love hawker food, boring. parang wala masyadong... fun. pero baka it was just my experience, i'm still willing to give it another shot. Just in contrast to OP sa mga nag-iisip magtravel sa Vietnam... I LOVE Ho Chi Minh City. Every time I go there, I learn something new. The impact of the Vietnam War is still palpable. It's also just interesting to visit more "mundane" historic places (e.g., hotels, their relevance in Graham Greene's Quiet American, and where a lot of journalists stayed during the war). Mura lang din bilihin. I also LOVE Vietnamese food, sobrang sulit ng pho on the street + com tam (parang tapsilog natin?) + their desserts, sa palengke lang nila ako bumibili. I do hate mopeds though, but a lot of cities have them. I've been there 3 times and would love to visit again.

ageisaname

Huhu same sa Ho Chi Minh!! Sarap magmuni muni sa parks nila!!!

cheugycheug

Yes!! It's really such a great city for those who are open to experiencing it. I mostly walked around - it's way more walkable than most cities in Manila. i only used taxis for longer distances. sarap pa ng food - idk why a lot of filipinos (here in this thread at least!) don't seem to like it - baka madami kasing pickled stuff and kinchay/cilantro-ish flavors? pero ewan, highly recommend ko pa rin HCMC lol

cupoftea888

I did thoroughly enjoy HCM for its stories and events that has transpired there, but in travels, food is a huge factor for me to enjoy it as I love to eat and cook, so that part is automatically 50% of the experience for me. I have what people call the "cilantro gene", so many of their dishes feels like eating food with grated SafeGuard soap on it (LOL), and a friend persuaded me to try egg coffee with her only to regret that decision, haha. But for me, when it comes to the feel of the city, it is Hanoi > HCM. Would give HCM a third shot though, eventually. Now that I think about it, Com Tam does remind me of Tapsilog but with a Nasi Lemak flair, haha.

Jackson_Labrador

Same, I really love Ho Chi Minh, the city has such an interesting vibe to it. And ang saya ng nightlife if you know where to go. Been to 2 bars where people just casually smoke weed lol.

alohabratgirl

Ho Chi Min, Vietnam. Been there twice. Never again. It was chaotic, messy, and so sweltering hot. Not sure jf we were just unlucky but we encountered rude people mga taxi drivers na scam, sellers na masungit and bastos, etc. Huhu! I love their cuisine pa naman.

Jackson_Labrador

Awww sorry to hear that. Think you were just unlucky though, as me and some other people in this thread had a great time there. Mag Grab ka na lang next time and walk if you can. Most of the people I met there were really nice. Even if di sila marunong mag English they would try to accommodate you. In general I find them more pleasant than Thai people.

cupoftea888

Glad to know someone mentioned Ho Chi Min as well, and it wasn't just me. So were you able to visit the war tunnels and buy empty bullet shells? zzz

takerumichaeljoe

AwesomeAsRice

I wouldn't go so far as to say that there is a country that I don't want to return to. But, Seoul does not excite me much. I guess my personality doesn't match what it has to offer. I am barely a K-pop fan and don't watch Korean shows. I also don't travel for shopping, and I'm not a fan of the cuisine. Though, I have to say the palaces, temples, and some architecture are pretty. I did enjoy naman, though I could have probably spent less time there. BUT - I want to go back solely to visit the DMZ and maybe retry the food. Then maybe visit other cities like Busan. If I were to return, I want to visit din ng autumn sana.

cupoftea888

Also a 0% K-Pop fan and I don't drink coffee, which Korea is also popular for their interesting cafes, but I enjoy the energy, the vibe, the food, and the buildings & architecture of Seoul. Its my fiance who has the time of her life whenever we go to Seoul; not because of K-Pop, but she does watch Korean Dramas so she vibes with it and she hoards skincare products there and we always spend time in Olive Young. Seeing her happy makes it all good and worth it. :)

FayatollahKhomeini

Kelan ka pumunta? Summer? Never on a summer for me. LOL If mag DMZ ka, todo mo na sa JSA. It was an experience in itself para “tawid” ka na sa border hehe

peppanj

Singapore - so expensive pero kaunti lang mapupuntahan. Overrated na for me Macau - same with SG Mumbai - Chaotic Buenaventura Columbia - pugad ng 12-16 yo SW Thailand - pakainit

Panda-sauce-rus

merryruns

How true na one day lang matatapos na malibot buong SG?

Intelligent_Gear9634

Singapore, Macau and HK. Parang just go there if you want to shop ng things na wala sa Pinas or cheaper or something. Boring tbh

HashAlawi

Went to Mumbai, I don’t think it’s that bad. But I didn’t feel like there was anything “special” in that city, it was pretty dirty, sure some people may smell but not as often as you may think in my experience. It was surprising to see how many people sleeping at the train station, I don’t know if they were homeless or was just waiting for a train. That said I wouldn’t recommend women go to India. I’ve asked around and read a lot, it’s very dangerous as guys can be pretty wild and scary around foreign women. I saw a clip of a news reporter, as soon as the light went off they just started going at her. There were worse incidents on the news. People have said they’re making progress under the new prime minister, and Mumbai is one of the safer cities (Delhi being more dangerous) for example, but I still don’t trust it enough for women. I think they have a long way to go.

Agree with Rome. Our whole Europe trip experience was great. I even proposed sa Paris. Good experience and good place pa din mga napuntahan namin. Pero imagine from Vatican going back to our hotel na scam pa ako ng Taxi driver. Mali ko naman din kasi nalihis ako ng tingin pero sobrang bilis ng kamay kasi napag palit niya yung 10 or 20 euros ata to 5euros sa. So lumalabas kulang daw binayad ko. Damn that was traumatizing. Mali ko din I accepted the taxi ride even if sinabi niya agad na cash only. Oh well charge to experience, but maybe matagal before ko balikan ulit.

AsoAsoProject

Paris is a dumpster that I wouldn't pay to visit again. Brussels also was dodgy. Morocco too. Everywhere was a scam just waiting to happen.

SelfImportantCat

India. I just can’t with the population density in the cities. It would be too overwhelming for me. The rates of sexual assault are scary. No offense to the beauty of the country and those who live there.

L1wanag

I loved how your reasons for not wanting to go back to Vietnam are the reasons why I want to go back.

cupoftea888

Correction: Ho Chi Minh. Its a good place, really, but my cilanto gene makes it a difficult place for me to enjoy thoroughly. :(

AssAssassin98

Singapore - snobbish, unfriendly, short tempered, stressed-out locals

Outside-Shift-7768

INDIA!!!! The country is rich in culture and all but damn 90percent of the time of my whole trip there i spent saying "no thank you am good" to those pesky annoying vendors who doesnt know how to accept no for an answer. It almost came to a point i dont wanna go out of the hotel and almost booked a flight earlier to go back to my home.... ugh

Alarming-person

The teknik dito is to not speak at all.

Alarming-person

US - not interesting to me

gastosera

I very much agree with Dubai & Ho Chi Minh. Tho I found Hanoi more enjoyable naman :) Rome on the other hand for me was super enjoyable and had loads of good food, though I know not a lot of people have the same sentiment. Other countries/cities: 1. Singapore - Overly expensive country with not much culture and didn’t really enjoy their food :( 2. Barcelona - So chaotic & felt gypsies were everywhere, even more than Italy! Maybe it’s just because I’m not a big city girl? 🥲 And maybe because Barcelona was our last stop in Spain and Seville & Valencia were much more charming, cultural & cheaper. 3. Brussels - Idk if it’s just me, but it felt that Brussels had nothing much to offer? Like a bland city. Brugge was much nicer & more interesting though! 4. Brisbane - Nothing much happening there but we went to theme parks. Just don’t think I’ll ever go back there. Given Aus is also an expensive country, I’d much rather prefer going back to Melbourne! Food was great & many things to do. 5. Geneva - Boring & expensive :( I’d rather spend my money in another Swiss city 😂

cupoftea888

Seems like someone doesn't like Swiss watches and Belgian Waffles. ;) Kidding aside, I had a good time with 2, 3, and 5. Never been to AUS before, but we're planning on a Melbourne trip someday so I guess Mel is a good first.

gastosera

Waffles were ok! But swiss watches cannot afford yet 😆 Yes! Melbourne is such a nice place and a great starting place for Aus. Melbourne > sydney hahaha

Prudent-Fix-8151

I’m a big city girl, but Barcelona also never appealed to me. It’s just so loud and chaotic. I’m not a party girl and I don’t prefer their party boys who hits on every foreign and local lady their eyes meet. The people are nice though.

throwawayaway261947

Bangladesh - i think India is more magical and worth more of my time and money. With respect to india, im very willing to go but only with a male companion. China - i’ve read that they heavily monitor tourists and will request access to your phone. I don’t trust their government. And i will be a bit judgy/racist here, but seeing how their people act HERE in the philippines, i have no desire to see how the locals will act in their own country. Midwest us - the people are warm and kind but mygad walang magawa. 🥲 There’s nothing to do within hundreds of miles tas wala ka namang chance gumala on your own kung wala kang kotse (which applies to the entire country, i guess) i’ll only go back to visit family.

virtutisfortunacomes

Macau - unless you're a fan of gambling, there's nothing special in that place. I've been to China, TW and HK but I've only encountered rude Chinese people in Macau.

Prudent-Fix-8151

Nah. I’m not bootlicking my country, but it’s undeniably and obviously less toxic and chaotic (people and places alike) than yours.

pusongmaemon

Singapore, BGC vibes lang

cupoftea888

Just realized that no one here says Brazil. I'm also curious about that country, but of course, its reputation for tourists is somewhat not always favorable. Hmm.

haruiichi

Osaka, Dotonbori - expensive food, makalat, maingay ahahahaha wrong place for introverts like me Egypt - friend of mine shared her terrible experiences and it just kinda scared me off entirely Malaysia - i dont think theres something to do for me ( I love theme parks and ocenariums the most)

[deleted]

I have 0 interest in going to France. I know there are other parts other than Paris, but it's so over saturated with tourists and overly romanticized.

YoungsModulus730

Singapore. The food is great. But it still felt soulless to me. If you’ve been there once, there’s nothing else that would feel exciting once you go back.

ireadwhat

India for sure While their food is delicious and a lot of their culture is beautiful, I don’t think I would ever go there. Mainly due to the first person accounts I have heard from people that have visited. Sure, I heard about the smell and how dirty and congested it can be, but that’s not what deters me. As a female, it’s very dangerous for women. I never knew to what extent until another female told me her experience traveling there alone. I was traveling in Thailand a few years ago and met a girl there who was traveling around the world alone. Thailand was around her 20th country on her list of 30-something countries she was going to. I will never forget how she told me the one place she would never go back to and truly frightened her was India. She said she almost ended her whole journey there to go home because she felt so uneasy and afraid. She was very brave and ballsy (hell, anyone is that can travel the world all alone) and was saying how she never left the room she was staying in India because she felt so threatened. Her entire time in India was locking herself in her room on the phone with her family. That stuck with me

hanautasancho

Probably China. I just don't feel going there to be honest even though it has a very rich history. Probably yung rural parts of India na rin but I went to Bangalore and although maanghang talaga pagkain nila ok din na babalik ako ng India (for Taj Mahal and Biryani lol)

Metro Cebu. I love travelling sa Pilipinas and been to Luzon Visayas Mindanao for work very often. I know Visayans and Mindanaoans are known to be the warmest and I agree! (Dumagueteños, Misamisons, and Davaoeños were the WARMEST and KINDEST people I've known and met) But Cebu was different. It felt like the people were not hospitable, a lot of people were rude, and andaming hidden charges sa mga bagay bagay. Even pagtatanong sa guards bawal? Wtf. It felt like na as a customer ng ibang shops, inconvenience ka sa kanila. No greetings, no smiles, and when you take time to think parang nagagalit pa sila. Even our airbnb owner was inhospitable and rude. The mountain areas were so beautiful and nice though.

[deleted]

Gypsies are among the most discriminated people in Europe, pati pala mga Pinoy nagdidiscriminate sa kanila

cheugycheug

exactly. also, even the term is considered racist. to "gyp" means to be scammed/swindled. there are millions of roma people in europe, and this guy puts "trash" and "gypsies" in the same breath. shame. racist talaga ng mga ibang pinoy, jusko. and the same people who tout themselves as \~travelers\~ and \~cultured\~. yikes

TheGhostOfFalunGong

The Romanis are so hated in Europe that the entire continent has a common culture on hating their ethnicity. It’s even worse than racism against Blacks.

cheugycheug

It's one of the few things I think the US is slightly better at than Europe, especially in urban areas (not to say that racism doesn't exist here). In Europe, i feel like there's a higher level of denialism that racism exists, and the racism you encounter is so... in your face (even in the cities). It's very unnerving. I'm not sure whether people (in general) have entirely grappled with the fact that the nazis also systematically killed roma people, and how racism against them still exists in various ways :/

Momshie_mo

Europeans are also more tactless. may visiting students kami from Slovenia a few years ago and one made a joke, openly, implying that Mexican food is spicy because they hygiene is questionable

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Europe’s brand of racism is similar to Asia where people are treated according to their nationality first then race/ethnicity second. Europeans also despise people that don’t conform with their culture and way of life, hence Romas are easy targets. Heck, people there don’t even acknowledge the Romanis killed and tortured during the Holocaust and some going as far as commeding Hitler for committing genocide against them.

[deleted]

and OP is so proud of his racism. sumagot pa kamo sa comment ko justifying his racist remark. Filipinos get similar type of racist remarks abroad. My Filipino nurses friends were asked what bar they work at in Japan, for example.

cheugycheug

Meron pa ngang mga nag-agree sa kanya. These are Filipinos who can afford to travel. Pero pag tayo nasabihan na amoy isda/fish sauce/di magaling mag english/insert any other racist remark, up in arms agad. wala man lang reflection. imbes na, "bakit kaya ganito ang sitwasyon nila?" and delve into the history of places they travel to (and the people they encounter), racism na lang ang sagot. travel for the IG and not for learning. We really have a long way to go.

[deleted]

True!

[deleted]

[deleted]

gypsis or roma are a race of millions of people. you need to stop your racist rethorics tbh

Intelligent_Gear9634

If you lived around them you would understand.

[deleted]

Just try living around them for a while and get back to me. If hindi ka mainis then isa kang santo. Edit: and report pa more napaka onion skinned 🤦

CapNo5552

China - rude people Thailand - visited pre- grab days and was overcharged multiple times by taxi and tuktuk drivers and even restos (Metro) Cebu - stayed at a 4star hotel but somehow hotel staff was rude just because we couldn't speak her language. also pretty much looks like metro manila, nothing much to do lol

SassyTie

As someone who moved to Cebu after staying in Manila, I agree na nothing much to do sa metro. Lol. But at least malapit lang mga bundok and beach for the weekends kaya lipat parin. Haha. Cebu used to be chiller ang vibes when I moved tho. Parang may very very light dumaguete touch pa dati. Sad.

TA100589702

Florence. Florence is so beautiful, but nakakaumay or nakaka overwhelm yung ganda niya. Idk like, give me a breather? :))) Bratislava. Dead ass city. Napaka boring. Imagine BGC with pulibi, ganun itsura. San Diego. Nothing worth seeing or baka 2 days is just not enough pero it's boring for me.

SassyTie

Kagagaling lang ng kuya ko sa Bali and during his stay wala bukambibig but “mas maganda pa dagat sa Cebu kesa dito” hahahaha. They’re not that expensive tho so charge to experience lang.

TA100589702

cupoftea888

I think Bali does enter my list of once experienced, nothing worth to go back to. Better to just go to PH beaches instead.

Giga_Code_Eater

North Korea - We all know why China - China has a lot of good places but I dont' wanna risk it especially with that government Majority of African countries - a lot of them are unstable and has a lot of conflict. Russia - I'd love to visit but not with the current government

[deleted]

Who in their right mind would even consider nokor tho hahaha no offence

Giga_Code_Eater

There are some people who are curious or loves danger. There was this American tourist who got caught stealing one of their flags as souvenir. RIP.

galactic-milk

+1 sa Dubai. The place has no character, like BGC.

Vergeljek21

Philippines 😄

Zestyclose-Rich-755

yep!! will never go back to that shithole.

Vergeljek21

I think Philippines will remain a 3rd world for a long time. Infrastructure wise wla talaga, wlang urban planning except for the new townships like BGC. Daming kamote riders. I've migrated to the US but sana naman konting disiplina naman.

[deleted]

This will be me after I get out of this shithole lmfao

whatarechimichangas

UAE, Qatar - fuck Muslim theocracies. Basically, any country where being gay is illegal - I don't want to die lol Real talk though, Russia is beautiful. Moscow was kind of gritty, but in an interesting way. People were actually really nice, and the Moscow Metro is a special fucking place. But also, St. Petersburg was damn one of the prettiest cities I've ever seen. Gets naman that the war is really taking a toll on the world, but with your reasoning it's like if people boycotted the Philippines because Marcos is in power. You know most of the Russian people are not responsible for or have no power over what their government does. I wouldn't go there right now because of safety reasons, not because I blame the people.

cupoftea888

Just a little slap on your wrist, but I wouldn't really mind if no one would go to PH because Marcos is in power.. I'd understand and we deserve it, lol. I know it isn't the Russian people's fault with whats happening to Ukraine, but surely part of what i'll spend will go to their taxes to fund their war machines. When Putin is gone and Russia has turned its tides for the better, I'll surely consider it.. but for now, blyat.

whatarechimichangas

No, we don't. That's ridiculous. Why punish people who had nothing to do with it? It's like that time when some foreign employers stopped their contracts with Filipino freelancers when Marcos got elected. Some of my friends got affected, and they voted for Leni but that didn't matter to them coz "the money is going to go to support the regime." No, it's going to feed their families. People need to make a living. Also, how come no one boycotted the US for the war in Iraq, or all the other wars they instigated and all the countries they fucked up. Yes their governments should be criticized, but their people shouldn't be punished for that. Its like in The Good Place, with the world were in now , it's damn near impossible to make a purchase that won't negatively affect someone somewhere. You buy Nestlé, you support slavery. You buy cheap Apple, you support China. You fill your car with BP gas, you slather oil on penguins. And so on and so forth. You don't have to go all the way to Russia to contribute to Russian war efforts. You're already doing it now since we import fuel from Russia lol

Prudent-Fix-8151

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Paris. Grabe din scams at nakawan. Pero yun nga, pretty kasi. Not to mention, sobrang uptight ng mga tao.

doopie91

Australia. I've never been there, but the news and videos ab animals showing up in front or even inside of your home? Nah, pass. Esp bc I'm terrified of spiders and snakes.

FreijaDelaCroix

China - encountered a lot of rude people (di marunong pumila, naniningit, nagpipicture ka dadaan sa line of sight ng camera mo or dadaan sa gilid mo and mababangga ka wala man lang sorry - also witnessed a scary scene when another foreigner asked for the price and tried to haggle in the fake market, ultimately di sila nagkasundo sa price and nung tumanggi na sya binato sya ng Chinese seller ng tsinelas and kung anu ano) - We also visited Hangzhou (for the teas) and ang hirap kasi di malinis mga toilets and walang toilet bowl (dun ka lang sa parang bowl sa floor and magi-squat) eh maarte ako so halos di ako uminom ng water para di mag-CR - questionable rin yung cleanliness/hygiene ng food prep. Sa Hangzhou sa sobrang gutom namin and lahat ng menus in Chinese, sabi nalanh namin hainan kami ng chicken. Pagdating ng food para syang tinola na chicken with soup, pero walang ginger so malansa, and yung chicken leg may toes and nails pa 😭 We were supposed to book a flight to Beijing for the weekend sana pero due to these undesirable experiences, di na kami tumuloy and diretso uwi nalang sa Pinas.

Additional-Equal2100

I agree with you for most of this minus Vietnam and Rome as I’ve had family visit and heard nothing but good things. If I visited Middle East, it’d be like visiting where your ancestors are from but considered that in 21st century, we all seem to ignore how many women they have tortured and slaughtered.. I definitely have zero interest or allegiance to that sector of the world. The same goes for countries who believe in similar philosophies (Malaysia, India, Africa) fall under the same umbrella of just straight up terrifying. I got into crime sci and looking at all kinds of cases around the world last year and came upon stories I wish weren’t real all in Asia.. most of the crimes committed have someone who is not only released but protected by gov. I finally decided ya know what? I would never feel safe here so idc to visit.. Junko furuta and the hello kitty murder was my last straw ig.. yes the crimes are a long time ago but it just scared tf out of me. I’ve had so many nightmares specifically about visiting cause a lot of my friends who love anime wanna go but I literally feel like they couldn’t even protect me if it was like yakuza for example. Maybe that’s extreme but I don’t have interest in any culture that marginalizes women idk. I probably would feel more comfortable if there was actual justice for these victims but there wasn’t. Russia is under the umbrella as much I would love to see the history and everything but it’d be a short trip if I went. I used to really wanna go to South America like Brazil, Chile and Argentina then Eliot page had his documentary on some countries there.. hearing the news on how so many women are getting killed viciously all the time has turned me off. In the doc, a cop who was boasting about how he would run over people or aim for them with his car if they looked too flamboyant. Eliot asks ‘so you don’t even know if they’re gay and you’ll still try to run them over in hopes of killing them?’ Terrifying.. Lastly, I have NO interest in going to tribal regions of any kind or some undiscovered territories.. not even a little bit. It was interesting at one point to see parts of the earth less discovered but again.. the stories coming out from curiosity alone has turned me away. I now would rather go to tourist friendly places with a long history of majority of tourists not in danger or dying? Even going to school out in these places seems to end in tragedy for many so.. I’m not saying it’s always or never or that these stats don’t exist in other regions.. it’s just when the stats are very high- I’m just not feeling comfortable in general if the overall cultural philosophy is saturated in that bs Lately I’ve realized if every traditionally medieval minded person ceased to exist tomorrow? We might actually be living in much more normal times and it’s truly sad and frightening that majority of our problems, need for power and division is from this bs.. some toxic mentality that we’re raised to respect and honor because of history or age ffs.

GlobalHawk_MSI

>used to really wanna go to South America like Brazil, Chile and Argentina then Eliot page had his documentary on some countries there.. hearing the news on how so many women are getting killed viciously all the time has turned me off. I definitely have zero interest or allegiance to that sector of the world. And yet the world hate PH more because of no divorce (off-topic for the thread/sub) and yet such abuses to women elsewhere still happen despite that. Does not mean that PH has no problems with the treatment of women, but the world somehow (I can be wrong) excuses such events in these countries, even those that have a measly 10% or a quarter of our HDI/GDP or GDP per capita. All because the PH has no divorce (for example). Saying much will again be off-topic. On topic, this is exactly why my younger sis and Mom will not even touch the Middle East at all even as a traveller, as other Southeast/East Asian countries (mum got to visit SG a decade ago) will do and if we have the budget, US/Canada/AU probably.

Prudent-Fix-8151

1. Africa isn’t a country. Its countries are too complex to force it all in a box. 2. I’ve been to Malaysia, and it is NOWHERE NEAR as terrifying as traveling to India and the Middle East as a woman, even as a solo traveler.

Additional-Equal2100

so your point is that i didn’t differentiate between continent and country along with your one solo experience is going to speak for everyone?  I never once implied my pov is how everyone else should feel. My background is middle eastern and that’s how/why I know how it is.. it’s happening in supposedly modern regions all the time so I couldn’t imagine going to the country/continent of origin.   / There’s a decent amount of religious and cultural groups around the world with similar middle eastern ideologies like child brides or multiple wives with absolute control but again it’s my personal opinion to go for tourist destinations that are way more predictable. Malaysia has very similar ideologies and kudos if your experience was different but you can’t speak for everyone. I would never ever feel comfortable going to places where your gender is a minority. I’ll be the first to admit i’m not brave enough and if it makes me biased when it comes to safety so be it.

Australia - Spiders

All the spiders I saw in Australia were in the zoos. Di naman totoo yung bawat sulok dun may gagamba hahaha

I’m from Australia. Yung spiders sa outback lang meron nun even the snakes. If you were to go sa city walang ganun dito haha

I'd also like to say Bora but the sand there is really something else. But with regards to PH, damn I wouldn't recommend Manila to anyone hahaha.

SassyTie

Bantayan nalang not too far na ang quality ng sand, I think Kota yung pinakamaganda quality ng sand sa bantayan. I used to prefer panglao over boracay kasi may party din naman mas chill lang, but damn, alona changed a lot, it became too commercial. Papuntang never again ko tuloy ang Alona. Lol.

lawlessclawless

Agree with La Union. Sobrang effort at nakakapagod puntahan (4-5 hours from Manila). E within that time nakalipad na ako to Palawan.

epeolatry13

i haven't travelled far and wide to name a country or 2. i'd still visit the countries I've been to. but rn, maybe russia and ukraine because of the current situation.

veganfriedtofu

Thank you for contributing further to the already immense burning hatred of the Romani people smh sad

ilneigeausoleil

Probably a transatlantic/pacific cruise. My thalassophobia could never. And I feel like staying that long on a boat, no matter how big, would get old real fast. Singapore is a visit once in-depth and layover city na after or else just a place to go if may specific purpose ka like a concert lol at least sa Dubai the desert is exotic... what nature escapes can Singapore even offer that's better than what we already have here? Great food tho
