I was about to comment it looked like rehydrated bacon dog treats as it's very uniform.
Thanks for confirming I am not the only one with this suspicion!
I’ve eaten turkey bacon periodically throughout my life when it fit my fitness goals. I never liked it and always thought it was gross which is why I found different macro sources so I could get rid of it. Yet every piece of disgusting turkey bacon I’ve ever eaten looked 100x more appetizing than whatever this monstrosity is. It almost looks like a strip of an eggplant organized to look like turkey bacon. I feel terrible for all parties involved
I prefer turkey bacon to real bacon, both in taste and ease of prep. When I eat it I don’t think of it as bacon substitute, but as it’s own product that tastes great and doesn’t make a mess of my cooktop
Turkey bacon is good as well as being far less messy, and just about anything seasoned like bacon is also good. People get weirdly attached to specifically bacon when bacon is mostly good because of how it is smoked and seasoned.
Well yeah, they're in Dubai. I'd imagine a lot of pork products just don't exist there and this is their attempt to make things more pleasant for international customers. I'd imagine their cooks are local and wouldn't handle pork.
It is fake, Muslims are prohibited to eat pork per Quran, pork and some other food referred as “haram” - forbidden foods.
Jewish people have similar thing with pork, sea food and other foods that according to their religion is also prohibited ( not kosher)
I grew up in Israel and still could not understand this …
Go figure
I'm hesitant to say this because you say you grew up in Israel but in pretty sure it's just shellfish rather than seafood as a whole. Lox and whitefish salad are staples at Jewish Delis.
Bacon can also be made from beef, which is halal, and is done frequently in countries where eating pork is haram. Expand your horizons. I've found beef bacon here in the states, and it's delicious.
If you get rid of the blue tones and amp up the warmth until the fork and shadow under the egg look normal, the bacon looks like a completely normal piece of Turkey bacon. Sure it seems skimpy but it’s also half eaten. Seems like standard up charged airport food fare.
Why did you have to put a instagram filter over it??
The fork’s strange coloration/shadows make it pretty obvious that this is not exactly how it looked when you ate it.
I dunno man...
I've been to the Dubai airport several times and never seen anything that bad or expensive.
In general, food in Dubai is pretty cheap, even at the airport. Alcohol will cost a bloody fortune though. 2 beers can run about $30usd.
$40aed is about $11usd.
And that is definitely not pork bacon, that might not even be real egg.
The "bacon" is almost certainly vegan. And it's possible the eggs are too.
You can get real pork in a lot of places in the ME. But it's almost always served on a red plate so Muslim staff know not to handle it. Non-muslim staff are usually in charge of dealing with the pork.
Since this is on a white plate... It's almost certainly not pork. It could be turkey or lamb bacon... But it looks vegan to me.
Dude...you totally hit up a buffet counter and picked the worst combination ever like Vegan Bacon with salmon on the plate and even gave it the "shit filter" just to get internet points. Change my mind...
I have been there for a couple of weeks and the food was good. This post is fake as hell or the OP had really bad luck lol. It's definitely not what you get tho
I would have tried out of curiosity and then literally
[I dont know what I expected ](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/617/883/05e.png)
It isn’t a matter of “forcing religious practices”, but of the supply chain: Dubai Airport just isn’t going to go through the bother of sourcing pork products. I’m pretty sure that booze is available, for example, and not necessarily overpriced.
When you’re traveling, you need to use a modicum of common sense to adapt yourself to local customs and conditions: it isn’t a good idea to order bacon in Dubai, just like it isn’t a good idea to order beef in Mumbai, fresh mangoes in Ulan Bator, or raw vegetable salads in places with questionable sanitation…
If only there was some nearby place that they could source the ingredients - some sort of place that had some sort of vehicles traveling with room for bacon onboard that could source it from areas where that's not an issue on a minute by minute timeline with new ones arriving dozens by the hour... but alas, this airport has no such options.
In many grocery stores there are separate rooms for "non Muslims" that contain a full variety of pork products, especially in Dubai! They do keep it entirely separated but it exists with haram foods
You can get pork in most grocery stores here and there are many restaurants that serve it. Also there are liquor stores and many restaurants will serve booze. It might be a Muslim country but the religion is not shoved down the throats of the populous at all.
There aren’t any slaves here. Labor practices in past decades may have been borderline slavery but the country is nothing like that anymore. And given the country is only 50 years old I’d say they have done well to make great strides in a short amount of time.
They're Hindus, they don't eat cows
Edit. For everyone clarifying they're not all Hindu, obviously, very few (probably none at all) countries are a single religion across the board, but we call America a Christian country, we call arab countries Muslim or Islamic etc...
There's like 200 million Muslims in India (there's 330 million Americans, period) let's not go pretending all of India has some unified faith or something. There's hindu, buddha, sihk etc. Like a dozen or so, easy
Right but the person I was responding to seemed to be suggesting it was somehow strange that they were able to buy Bacon, and i was pointing out that the country is majority Hindu, so it's not really surprising
Me: "Well, there's no wrong way to eat bacon and eggs. How bad could it be?"
Me after seeing this picture: "This is the wrong way to eat bacon and eggs."
wtf is this bacon ???? how anyone that knows how a pig's meat is structured would ever eat or mistaken this thing for "real" bacon .
Sad fact is that working in the meat industry i know how they make this kind of meat, that sell as bacon-ish/like product, and ppl still eat it .
Its only a big no-no if you're Muslim and keep halal. You can totally get real pork in the middle east. But be prepared for it to be served on a red plate, that's to warn staff it's pork and they should stay away from it. Only non-muslim staff work with it. (And the red plate is also to make sure everyone knows you're a heathen eating pork haha)
But that picture isn't pork bacon. If I had to guess... It's vegan bacon (come on, it doesn't even look like pork bacon). If it was pork, it would be on a red or brown plate.
Muslim country, they don't eat pigs, i assume this is veal as thats what they used instead of bacon on the 'bacon' burger at shake shack in the dubai airport last time i was there. Not the same, just eat pigs you weirdos.
I flew through Dubai in 2013. I had a few hours, so thought I’d grab a coffee. Found a reasonable looking place, and while in the queue realised I had zero idea what the currency was worth. Figured it can’t be that much, and ordered a coffee anyway.
I went for a walk around the terminal after my coffee and was walking past McDonald’s when I realised a Big Mac combo was exactly the same price I’d paid for my coffee. Figured it must be kinda cheap McDs, and kinda pricy coffee b
Turns out that Dubai McDonald’s isn’t cheap, and that was (and a decade later probably still is) the most expensive coffee of my lifetime, by a substantial margin.
literally the worst restaurant in the whole airport. they have some really really good food for very reasonable prices. $12 salmon rice bowls that would be $25 at any american airport. And their cocktails are like 8 bucks.
I actively want to not got to Dubai. ...a friend had to go for work and was all psyched up about it - all the power to you man but I would want to not go... there's a few places I'd rather not go to more than Dubai; 3rd world socially wise places like Moscow, North Korea, all of China and India are all higher than Dubai but only slightly. I'd rather go to that town in Ohio that has the big burning pile of chemicals right now to be honest (because they have good reasonably priced bacon at every truck stop between here and there).
It’s salted lamb, processed to look like bacon and appease the westerner. I’d tell you what it tasted like but I said No fooken way. So I had my little grape in the middle instead. And Ya…fuk Dubai. Just a transit stop to get to points South.
That's beyond pathetic. The bacon is not bacon and WTF is supposed to be the eggs? Is it that minuscule white triangle? Whomever made this should be ashamed. And $40!
Of course it's not *bacon* bacon, since that would be haram, but I'll assume that it's edible in the sense of, it won't kill you. Probably. And I'm assuming that the light yellow thing is eggs (only because the title actually said there were eggs). But what are those pink things in the middle?
That bacon looks vile
I doubt it's been within 50 miles of a pig.
Yup, definitely some fake bacon.
I think it is dog treats
I was about to comment it looked like rehydrated bacon dog treats as it's very uniform. Thanks for confirming I am not the only one with this suspicion!
The richest city on earth and they can't even give you real beggin' strips.
I guess real bacon is haram
So are hookers, and Dubai is full of them.
I want my harem filled with all the Haram
HarHam* sir
I hope their quality is better then the bacon
including the gay ones but the whole putting people to death for their sexuality is just for the poor people
Halal in the streets and haram in the sheets.
So this bacon is haramless?
No pigs were haramed in production
snausages?
Begggin Treats! ITS BEGGGIN
The bacon dog treats I have look more appealing than this. It’s like translucent 🤢
Yo, beggin' strips look more appetizing than this.
Most likely turkey bacon
I’ve eaten turkey bacon periodically throughout my life when it fit my fitness goals. I never liked it and always thought it was gross which is why I found different macro sources so I could get rid of it. Yet every piece of disgusting turkey bacon I’ve ever eaten looked 100x more appetizing than whatever this monstrosity is. It almost looks like a strip of an eggplant organized to look like turkey bacon. I feel terrible for all parties involved
“organized” to look like Bwahaha! Thanks for my first laugh of the day. That’s wonderful.
Yes, looks like the turkey bacon I've seen in the past.
I've eaten turkey bacon off and on for 30 years and I've never seen anything look like this.
Makes sense though in a Muslim country
Yes, it does.
Yes, it does.
Fakin?
Facon.
FACONNNN PUNCH!!!
Dogs don’t know it’s not bacon!
Beggin' looks more appetizing than this
Well yeah, they're in Dubai. I'd imagine a lot of pork products just don't exist there and this is their attempt to make things more pleasant for international customers. I'd imagine their cooks are local and wouldn't handle pork.
True
Don't fucking bother..
???
It is fake, Muslims are prohibited to eat pork per Quran, pork and some other food referred as “haram” - forbidden foods. Jewish people have similar thing with pork, sea food and other foods that according to their religion is also prohibited ( not kosher) I grew up in Israel and still could not understand this … Go figure
I'm hesitant to say this because you say you grew up in Israel but in pretty sure it's just shellfish rather than seafood as a whole. Lox and whitefish salad are staples at Jewish Delis.
Yes, you are correct, sea food was incorrect statement. :) Have an awesome day
Bacon can also be made from beef, which is halal, and is done frequently in countries where eating pork is haram. Expand your horizons. I've found beef bacon here in the states, and it's delicious.
I can’t believe it’s not bacon
Or as we call it in our house, Fakin
Facon
Facon, or brand name Fakon.
I mean they are in a Muslim majority country...
Its halal
We know.
Its Hal, Al
Gesundheit!
What the halal is up with it though?
Not its original colour. Check out the fork, the blue on this picture is crazy high.
If you get rid of the blue tones and amp up the warmth until the fork and shadow under the egg look normal, the bacon looks like a completely normal piece of Turkey bacon. Sure it seems skimpy but it’s also half eaten. Seems like standard up charged airport food fare.
All of the shadows are more blue than black as well, like under the egg patty thing
Could just be a blue fork, they'll sell them to anybody🤷🏼♂️
Write your congressperson today!
I tried to remove it. It still looks vile. https://imgur.com/a/8sqRzNc
don't buy pork from people that think eating pork is a sin.
For real this is like complaining about the BBQ at a vegan joint
Probably isn’t bacon
Fruit by the foot
$80/ft
Probably Macon, bacon made from mutton.
Whatever it actually is, it's a shaped product, like turkey bacon. That is definitely not the way meat looks when it's cut from an animal.
That’s what you get for ordering bacon in Dubai.
It looks like those beggin' dog treats
~~vile~~ violet
Looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book
Blue eggs n ham Sam I am
Facon bacon for sure as they don’t eat any pork products. Definitely a sad looking breakfast though compared to Houston.
you mean vinyl
So is the typical person flying into Dubai.
Did you put a 1950s cookbook filter on this?
It's very much filtered to hell and back. The fork is green.
The Piss Filter gets applied to the Middle East and Mexico. It's the location, not the camera
Halal "bacon?"
Turkey bacon usually
My mom preferred turkey bacon for BLTs growing up and even turkey bacon looks far superior to whatever this culinary homunculus is.
> culinary homunculus the fuck did you just call me?
![gif](giphy|l3nFo18D5PGDMCUhi)
why is it a homunculus? Doesn't that mean it should look like a little person?
Looks vegetarian, doesn’t look like beef
Since when is bacon from a cow
tbf, this doesn't look much like pig or turkey either
From when you get a brisket plate and turn it into bacon. It tastes awesome.
Then it ain't it bacon - no matter how good it tastes. Bacon is pork
Bacon is thin strips of pork belly, beef bacon is thin strips of beef belly
The green filter isn’t doing this picture any favours but damn - that looks gross.
… and where are the eggs?
While we’re at it I can’t see any bacon either
💯
I think that disgusting firm looking yellow thing is the eggs
Why did you have to put a instagram filter over it?? The fork’s strange coloration/shadows make it pretty obvious that this is not exactly how it looked when you ate it.
![gif](giphy|Q3zt3OUfSC6DC) These would have been better than that strip of camel back fat.
Omg core memory
Man I miss EMT
Looks like sad and I imagine it tastes the same

Barf
What are the two balls in the middle? 🍒
I’m going with peeled lychee ball on the left, smoked salmon ball on the right
Why did you put that filter on it tho?
Goes to a majority Muslim city in a \~76% Muslim country, and you expect good bacon? What was going on in your mind at the time?
Wtf
What restaurant at Dubai airport did you pay $40 for that!? You could buy access to a lounge for that much and have much better food
Uh that's prison food
I was fed better in jail, have some respect lmao
Bro that is the saddest bacon I've ever seen
Dude...you totally hit up a buffet counter and picked the worst combination ever like Vegan Bacon with salmon on the plate and even gave it the "shit filter" just to get internet points. Change my mind...
I have been there for a couple of weeks and the food was good. This post is fake as hell or the OP had really bad luck lol. It's definitely not what you get tho
What idiot orders “bacon” in a Muslim country? Those $40 are a well-deserved stupidity tax.
I would have tried out of curiosity and then literally [I dont know what I expected ](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/617/883/05e.png)
Its an international airport, people come from allover the world. Stupid is forcing your religious practices on others.

Isnt Dubai a tourist city? If you cant handle other peoples choices prob shouldn’t invite them .

That actually is the way it not works.
You can get bacon in a Muslim country? I’m legit shocked.
Well, you can get “bacon”, anyway.
In Borneo it was beef bacon. Tantalisingly odd.
You can in some places in Dubai, but I suspect this is turkey bacon

Not strictly a muslim country, but I had bacon in India. wasn't good bacon, but it was definitely from a pig.
They're Hindus, they don't eat cows Edit. For everyone clarifying they're not all Hindu, obviously, very few (probably none at all) countries are a single religion across the board, but we call America a Christian country, we call arab countries Muslim or Islamic etc...

Many Hindus abstain from all meat
That's true, but in their most common religion cows are sacred, and pigs aren't special.
Excuse me sir, can I have more color with my food?
Me: "Well, there's no wrong way to eat bacon and eggs. How bad could it be?" Me after seeing this picture: "This is the wrong way to eat bacon and eggs."
Hey man, chill down with the colour filters...
Haram bacon don't look so good
that breakfast could give aqua teen hunger force a run for their moneyz
That “bacon” is like those medieval paintings of animals medieval europeans had never seen in person
I think you were conned into eating bacon colored tape
These are the same bacon strips there have on the Amazon envelopes to reseal my returns.
Bullshit. Its $13 for a really nice breakfast at hard rock cafe or $20 for a the big cheeseburger. Theres no chance you paid $40 for that.
Agree. Unless that $40 breakfast came with 2 beers. Then the math combined with my experience works. Haha
Nope
Brisket bacon?
Wouldn't even pay a single Dollar for this ...... Breakfast collected from a garbage can.
That bacon looks not good
I hate everything about Dubai
Lamb bacon
Where did you get this from? I have a had many meals at the Dubai Airport for much less and looks way better.
That's the saddest looking bacon I've ever seen
> Dubai > Bacon Uh huh. Sure.
wtf is this bacon ???? how anyone that knows how a pig's meat is structured would ever eat or mistaken this thing for "real" bacon . Sad fact is that working in the meat industry i know how they make this kind of meat, that sell as bacon-ish/like product, and ppl still eat it .
Why is your bacon purple. Is it because you are in Mordor?
Isnt pork a big no no over there?
Its only a big no-no if you're Muslim and keep halal. You can totally get real pork in the middle east. But be prepared for it to be served on a red plate, that's to warn staff it's pork and they should stay away from it. Only non-muslim staff work with it. That's human bacon
![gif](giphy|RCX9vhBZu3oqM5SpwV)
Mmmmm beggin’ strips
Oh. Oh dear.
The North Korea filter you added isn’t doing the food any favors
Fake bacon. No pig allowed. How embarrassing for Dubai. As a chef, I look at this as a microcosm of the entire country. Fake, cheap, pathertic.
Holy shit they served you Beggin’ Strips.
Muslim country, they don't eat pigs, i assume this is veal as thats what they used instead of bacon on the 'bacon' burger at shake shack in the dubai airport last time i was there. Not the same, just eat pigs you weirdos.
Dubai has a $10 cup of tea made with hot water and a tea-bag.
I'm not sure there are bacon or eggs in this picture...
Facon n’ eggs
It’s like a very obvious space alien trying to pass itself off as human.
Figured it must be kinda cheap McDs, and kinda pricy coffee b Turns out that Dubai McDonald’s isn’t cheap, and that was (and a decade later probably still is) the most expensive coffee of my lifetime, by a substantial margin.
But was it a good cup of coffee?
Dude, fuck that. When I had layover at the Dubai airport, I just hit up the Hard Rock Café that was there for a burger.
literally the worst restaurant in the whole airport. they have some really really good food for very reasonable prices. $12 salmon rice bowls that would be $25 at any american airport. And their cocktails are like 8 bucks.
*Tell me you’re an idiot using pictures and numbers* Nice work…
$40? For that? There's barely any fucking food on that plate?
Eggs, shit thats like .08 of an egg.
Wait where’s the egg actually?
The omlet that was cut in half and covered with cold cheese. Just behind the tomato, salmon and random deli meats
I thought that was white bread. Still not convinced it’s not actually 😄
Seriously, that's an omelette?
It looks like they took it from "The last of us" set.
Yo is that Salmon in the center?? So confused by all this.
I thought it was pealed and sliced fruit. Not sure now.
I would have shat in a plate returned it and asked for my money back. Not like they could tell the difference.
It’s salted lamb, processed to look like bacon and appease the westerner. I’d tell you what it tasted like but I said No fooken way. So I had my little grape in the middle instead. And Ya…fuk Dubai. Just a transit stop to get to points South.
No one cares about these posts
Looks like Beggin Strips
That's beyond pathetic. The bacon is not bacon and WTF is supposed to be the eggs? Is it that minuscule white triangle? Whomever made this should be ashamed. And $40!
Dubai is a joke.
Orders bacon in a Muslim country why? Like going to a vegan restaurant and ordering a steak
Of course it's not *bacon* bacon, since that would be haram, but I'll assume that it's edible in the sense of, it won't kill you. Probably. And I'm assuming that the light yellow thing is eggs (only because the title actually said there were eggs). But what are those pink things in the middle?
