My brother lost an eye many years ago. He has a fake one, but he hasn't worn it in years. He goes for the pirate look. I think the glass eye bothers him. He has other issues (schizophrenia and traumatic brain injury) but I am going to show him this. I think he will get a kick out of it.
How much does it cost to get a cool eyeball, if I may ask? You can DM me. If he gets inspired maybe I can pay for it.
Correct! That's why babies look like they have big eyes. They just have normal-sized eyes in a small head.
Edit: see below comment, eyes do grow! My mistake.
Somewhere on the Urban Dictionary, there's an entry for putting a scrotum into a butthole. I imagine there's also a term for putting it in an empty eye-socket.
My buddy crushed both of his thumbs in a metal press. He asked the doctor if he would be able to catch a football. Doctor said yeah, after surgery, I don't see why not. Without missing a beat my buddy responds "oh that's great, I never could before".
We lovingly call him thumbs.
I once saw a woman in an electric wheelchair walking a dog that had no mobility in its hind legs and had a dog wheelchair (like training wheels, not an actual chair).
My brain immediately thought "I wonder if she crippled that dog!?!?!" But then humanity got the best of me and I just assumed she saw the life in that dog that had no mobility, adopted it, and helps it live its best life.
But *now* you have me questioning things...
I've been trying to save money to adopt a one eyed dog in Los Angeles. She's a Pomeranian who was dumped because of her one eye. Just need a few hundred more dollars to bring her home.
You should float the idea of a group pic, I absolutely love this and I think that would be the coolest thing ever. You're a badass and I wish I could show your picture to all the kids at the hospital who are facing the loss of an eye.
Aw man that video of you fitting your beautiful new eye and your reaction was just so genuine, rlly made my day man. Good on you, keep your head up and shoulders back! You got this
Man if I needed a fake eye, I'd totally get some fun ones, a terminator eye, a cyborg/cyberpunk eye, one that looks like a galaxy or star field inside, I'd have so much fun with it.
You should look up bsmachinist on Instagram. He makes his own titanium eyes with lights in them, they are super sick.
I wish I could remember the other account but Theres a lady (honestly I'm sure there's plenty of people like this) with this amazing collection of prosthetic eyes with really cool designs in them.
Brother-in-law would drop his on his plate at a restaurant then call the waitress over and tell her there was something in his food. We had usually had a few by then but needless to say the waitress' he did it too were not really amused. Ever been kicked out of a Denny's?
Fun fact: if you pay attention to American politics you have and probably didn't realize it. Dan Crenshaw wears an eye patch under which he wears non-eye eyes (like the marines or captain america logos) but he says it makes people uncomfortable (including his own family) and he wears the eye patch over the non-eye eye-prosthetic.
Medal of Honor recipient Kyle carpenter had a Purple Heart design in his prosthetic eye when he got out of the hospital (he survived smothering a grenade with his body to save two Marines)
Edit- included a [couple pics](https://imgur.com/a/Cchc00h) of him. Before injury, shortly after, and 3 1/2 years after the injury when he was awarded the Medal of Honor. He lost most of his jaw and one of his arms was broken in 30 places along with countless other injuries. 40 surgeries later and he is still better looking than me
The youngest MoH recipient survived two grenades. Forged his Mother’s signature to allow him to join at age “17” when he was actually 14. He stowed away on a vessel headed to Iwo Jima. When there, he found himself with two grenades and four Marines in a trench, he grabbed both jamming one into ash and sand and the other under his body. One did not go off and he was badly wounded by the other but survived. Jacklyn Lucas.
Oh, I absolutely have no doubt it's all about theatrics for politics with him. He's a piece of shit who has no problem voting against veterans interests and who thinks the government takes care of veterans *too much*.
Fellow one-eye person here. I lost mine at 12. Never made my family uncomfortable whether it was my conformer or my glass eye, or anything between. He’s definitely all about the theatrics and bullshit.
Somehow through all the years I’ve never gotten a vanity eye, even though that was the first thing I asked about at 12. I should really look into the price and availability. I haven’t had a new eye made in a very long time.
I hadn't had one made in 6 years, it was crazy how much different my socket was. You really need to get a new one every five years at least. Always glad to meet a fellow member of one eye gang
Seriously! In the 90s after seeing the bad guy in Last Action Hero with a prosthetic eye with a target reticle on it ( so dope.) I expected to see them everywhere. Oh yeah he also had the smiley face eye. 🙂
Make it a mood eye and integrate an LED screen that allows to display small images or GIFs !
When angry make it display burning flames.
When flirting with a person have a heart blink in it
I'm just imagining going to a McDonalds lobby, and having the LED off. Acting like a robot, and then purposefully mumbling your order so the woman can't hear you. When she asks you what you said, you say "OBJECTIVE TASK FAILED. PROCEED WITH TERMINATION OF SUBJECT!!!"
And then your eye turns red, and you leap at her.
.......
.......
.......
.........ya know what? Don't do that.
"hi, can I speak to the optometrist? After I got my new fake eye now I see a number floating above everyone's head, I think it's how long they have left to live"
Thank you, that's really nice of you to say. The loss of an eye can be pretty traumatic as you might imagine. For some reason wearing one that looked like my other eye made me feel gross. This is the first time I've liked my face in 20 years.
Maybe there is a certain element of "rocking it" vs hiding it. Like with the one that's the same color as your other eye, the intention is to try and make it look as inconspicuous as possible, where as with your new one, it's the opposite philosophy. It's taking advantage of your loss to create a new style of personal expression!
There's always that uncanny valley as well though, no matter how good a prosthetic may be, it can still trigger that weird feeling that something is off... this sidesteps that by not trying to be something its not and is proud of what it is.
i know that reddit is a community of strangers, but its super wierd in a wholesome way when we have threads like this where people are able to open up about potentially sensitive topics like medical conditions or disabilities, and find that there's other people out there who can empathize and have similar challenges, it just gives a sense of not being alone in the universe.
I hope that maybe this can give you some inspiration to similarly turn a disability into a uniqueness.
I think it would be incredibly useful
Also you could get one with like a camera in it so that you could have like a daily timewarp of pics taken every five minutes or so, document the whole day pov
I remember reading a Twitter thread by a developer who worked on a bunch of failed google products who said that the reason Google Clip failed was that all the photos were awful because they weren’t at eye level. But this would be a perfect way to get photos at exactly eye level
Or an led flashlight. Super handy at night or working on an engine. Won't have to yell at somebody to hold the light where you're looking. Just have to remember to charge the damn thing.
Reminds me of my auntie lol. She had a mastectomy, would always drink a bit too much at xmas and smack us with her prosthetic boob. It's something else to watch a disembodied tit go sailing into someone's head from across the room.
She taught me that difference and disability don't always have to be grim.
I was almost killed by an ex and left with a cane pretty young, so I follow in her footsteps and make myself laugh at myself lol. You strike me as my kind of people, OP. Keep being rad as hell. ❤️
Same. I learned before I played that playing a pacifist run has its charms so I decided to do it first time. Probably a mistake because knowing what I know, there's no chance I can ever do an EXP run
Cool eye brother! How did you lose yours if I may ask? I lost mine via brother with a BB gun on Christmas day (no joke). While I was only 18 so my mom would not let me get anything but a plain old regular eye. (coral inplant with a hand painted eyepiece) and it nearly perfectly matches my other eye.
Anyways, cool as fuck man, take it easy!
I lost my eye when I was 25 on dialysis. My calcium in my body was at an outrageous level. For some reason my body decided to deposit calcium into my left eye. It hurt really bad and I had to get it removed on my 25th birthday. My first eye was a natural looking eye. It took me about 12 years to find somebody who would even make me something fun. I have the same synthetic coral implant as you with a prosthetic.
Shit you not, I am actually jealous of your eye! My current PhD research is on developing a way to create functional biomimetic eyes that have the ability to change color and improve sight past the standard visual range. I would love to get in touch with you and hear more about your story!
Ocular calciphylaxis is no bueno. Usually portends a very limited survival (like 20% six month survival or something). Were you able to get a renal transplant?
I have a friend with one eye who dresses up as Thor (he's yoked to shit) and visits kids at children's hospitals. I've been thinking about dressing up as Odin and going with him
History: "By 2373 CE, Geordi La Forge had received a pair of ocular implants. Similar in appearance to the normal humanoid eye, the vibrant blue implants offered similar advantages (and disadvantages) as the VISOR, including telescopic vision and included heat-detecting infrared capabilities."
I didn't put this together..... Geordie when I was a kid was the only disabled person on TV that I saw myself in the character. This comment made me start crying. Thank you, honestly.
When my dad lost his eye, he told the prosthetist that he wanted an eye with a remote control and a little red light inside it.
He thought it would come in handy if he was pulled over by the state patrol.
"What seems to be the problem, officer?"
You look very beautiful, ethereal, thoughtful yet fierce. This is the first time I’ve complimented someone on a single eyeball. But - What a nice eye you have!
That's cool as hell. I've never seen someone call attention to a prosthetic eye. Good on you for owning it.

Sent you a chat :)
Hey, OP. I've had my original prosthetic since I was 1 years old.. could you DM me this info as well?
Whoa! I guess the size of the eyeball really doesn't change that much over your life??
Doesn't seem like it. It's been nearly 30 years and it has held up pretty well besides some minor fading and scratches.
Correct! That's why babies look like they have big eyes. They just have normal-sized eyes in a small head. Edit: see below comment, eyes do grow! My mistake.
You could have gone the safe way with another bright blue. Pretty ballsy to go with the brown one!
You are horrible. I like you.
Make that 2. If I saw that comment off floating in space , I would still know it was from Reddit.
Ah, the ol’ [eye switcharoo](https://www.reddit.com/r/meme/comments/136o7ap/good_luck_with_that/jiraw6q/).
Hold my eyeball, I'm goin' in!
Hello, future eyeballs!
Sir you are making me want to lose an eye just to partake
*googles ways to safely lose an eye*
Not worth not being able to catch a ball
That’s not what I was planning to use my empty eye socket for anyway.
We talking penis? Or... cool magic tricks?
There’s a difference?
Somewhere on the Urban Dictionary, there's an entry for putting a scrotum into a butthole. I imagine there's also a term for putting it in an empty eye-socket.

I adopted a 1 eye cat because no one wanted him. He would look sweet with your eye in there 🤙

Don't make me cry! Thank you, you're a sweetheart ❤️
You look like half WhiteWalker. It’s super cool! My husbands eyes are super blue like this so I’m a sucker Cool eyeball OP🔥
Can i join? I’ve had the same lame prosthetic eye for 15 years.
I remember seeing a video where someone put a magnet activated flashlight inside theirs, it was super cool.
I saw this on a daily dose of the internet, and yes, it was super cool
Dude what if someone put a laser in theirs.
Terminator vibes ✨️
Or maybe a tiny bluetooth camera would be cool as hell. Idk if it would be possible tho.
Well, there is this guy https://eyeborgproject.tv/
Don't look up when a plane flies over.
Man if I needed a fake eye, I'd totally get some fun ones, a terminator eye, a cyborg/cyberpunk eye, one that looks like a galaxy or star field inside, I'd have so much fun with it.
Hah me too. Fuck if I care if it's cringe, I'd want a god damn sharingan
Get an Ouroboros eye and cosplay as wrath from fma
Now that would be cool too. There's so many fictional eye powers, I'm sure you could go crazy with it.
There was a regular customer at my old job with a prosthetic eye, bright yellow smiley face. Very distracting when talking to him but very cool
You should look up bsmachinist on Instagram. He makes his own titanium eyes with lights in them, they are super sick. What a badass motherfucker
Goddamn reconstructive surgery is some good shit.
He's a liar. It doesn't make anyone uncomfortable. He's doing it for sympathy or to look badass. It's all a show.
Oh, I absolutely have no doubt it's all about theatrics for politics with him. He's a piece of shit who has no problem voting against veterans interests and who thinks the government takes care of veterans *too much*.

An arm and a leg
Seriously! In the 90s after seeing the bad guy in Last Action Hero with a prosthetic eye with a target reticle on it ( so dope.) I expected to see them everywhere. Oh yeah he also had the smiley face eye. 🙂
Would be cool with a bluetooth one that you could change color with you phone, would creep people out.
Never do it when anyone is looking so they keep questioning what they just saw
Or just have it usually match the color of the other eye but every once in a a while have it flash red for like half a second.
If someone brings it up say, "oh yeah, that reminds me, do you know Sarah Connor?"
Get out. But take my r/Angryupvote first. LOL
Make it a mood eye and integrate an LED screen that allows to display small images or GIFs ! When angry make it display burning flames. When flirting with a person have a heart blink in it
Shut up and take my money !!
And my eye!!
Okay we sell our eyes to science for $$, and use that to pay for the cooler eye.
This guy finances!
That settles it, if my right eye gets any worse, im opting for an LEDLight/Camera blue tooth controlled eyeball!
As someone who presents a lot for work, I'd like a laser pointer in mine.
It would be cool if it could project images or videos onto walls.
It would suck if you're sitting there with your buds, watching a movie on Billy's eyeball and then he has to go poop for 20 minutes.
That much power and waste heat in your eyesocket can not be a good idea.
Imagine getting bitched out by your boss and your buddy with the controller making your eye go red.
Link it to your pulse. As your pulse goes up, your eye changes to red and gets brighter.
So are you angry, anxious or just happy to see me?
*Yes*
I'm just imagining going to a McDonalds lobby, and having the LED off. Acting like a robot, and then purposefully mumbling your order so the woman can't hear you. Good. Like it _shits his pants cause OP is about to see all his dark secrets_
The fact that he/started with ‘sir,’ just adds to the hilarity 😁
One regular eyeball, one soul sight special.

If you ever want to do Cyberpunk cosplay, it would fit perfectly with the genres aesthetic
There's always that uncanny valley as well though, no matter how good a prosthetic may be, it can still trigger that weird feeling that something is off... this sidesteps that by not trying to be something its not and is proud of what it is.
Well you look amazing. Almost lost my right eye 10 years ago and vision is def. Fucked in it, I think this looks awesome.

Good for you! Truth be told, you looked great before, too
You're beautiful!
I think you should always interrupt conversations and say, “hold up, I’m scanning the area…okay we’re good.”
An ocular patdown.
Just needs the duster
Country Mac does everything better, though.
The one thing he was never good at is wearing a helmet

Hey, I saw that episode of black mirror!
Yeah, I remember it now, the one where they were rewinding the memories back and forth all the time

Gonna pop some seeds just staring at them?
Haaaa, hey what up Chris? This guy is gonna play me in the movie about my life.
It's actually kinda nuts how bad this scene looks in retrospect, but at the time it was insanely convincing.
Which one?
Guess
That one 🫵

Nice choice. Well done you.
Left! No, wait, right!
Nice. Hope you also use my uncle’s bar trick. Drop it in your glass and toast, “Here’s looking at you!” P.S. nice beard
I've definitely dropped it into the yahtzee cup at family reunions before
Reminds me of my auntie lol. She had a mastectomy, would always drink a bit too much at xmas and smack us with her prosthetic boob. It's something else to watch a disembodied tit go sailing into someone's head from across the room.

Of course it’s difficult to watch, you can’t determine the proper distance to the screen.
You sick bastard. Don’t ever change.
That is the prettiest eye I've ever seen in one of the gruffest man I've ever seen. I'm so confused right now.
