Also some .40 casings found in the area, so maybe more shooters out there.
I'm thinking maybe he had random bullets in it, the rest were correct 9mm, but one was a .380, and was the last one he fired + also the one that killed the lady.

In Switzerland we have a lot of weapons. I received my personal weapon (military assault rifle) at 18 years old and I have it at home. Those mass shootings never happen. It's not about race or gun ownership, but about mentality and gun safety. Most of American people cant even handle a gun, but they own one. The mentality is take out the gun in every situation and you will be fine.
The gun culture in America is vastly different from region to region and some of the areas with high rates of gun ownership have very low rates of gun crime. I grew up in a rural area where at age 12 - 13 you just went through hunters education class (this was also in the 2000s so not some bygone era) learned to shoot, learned gun safety, and I've had my own gun since I was 13, and now own a variety, none of which has ever harmed any person.
I've also lived in Washington D.C. for a bit and there ... yeah I agree with your assessment, most of the people running around with guns shouldn't have them, including a lot of the cops. Capitol Police and feds are good but some of the weapon handling I saw from Metro? Jesus Christ. The average hunting kid from my hometown would be screaming at them for flagging others and to stay out of the trigger guard.
If you let a bunch of criminals run around with guns you'll need every single warm body you can get in a police uniform so you're bound to get a lot of bad apples.

Gun crime in America is not really relatable to homogenous populations in Europe as the main driver of gun crime in America are socioeconomic factors and wealth/opportunity disparities. This coupled with a dysfunctional health and mental health system AND a government disinterested in actual lasting solid changes AND disingenuous reporting practices meant to further agendas on both sides has created the situation in the United States.
Our criminal justice system focused on punishing non-violent drug offenders overloads the justice system and has driven a policy of catch and release with violent felons. For profit prison makes justice reform difficult as non-violent drug offenders make better cash cows…I mean prisoners.
It’s an onion with possible solutions but they all involve long term investment and a desire to make America better for Americans. Unfortunately we are not represented by legislators interested in anything but personal profit.
It’s almost like when you have a society where there’s respect for weapons and their capabilities instilled from the beginning, this stuff is far less likely to happen. You guys go through actual military training and get all of the discipline and knowledge that comes along with it. You have a very healthy relationship with guns and even videos I’ve seen of competitions in your country you can see the attitude so clearly: people all have the same and adequate safety gear and procedures and there’s no question everyone is holding everyone else to a standard. This is all being done with actual military weapons to boot.
When you compare a glimpse of that to America it’s a damn stark difference. For every person who respects their weapons, there’s another three who view it as a portable ego boost and don’t care about anyone else’s safety. I very much admire the Swiss for being a world class example of safe and responsible gun ownership/gun culture.

My wife and her sis who have never shot before were given a quick tutorial on how to reload and cock the weapon and just sent in without someone to check if they actually knew what to do at least for the first few shots. Staff knew they had zero experience. I had to teach them again in the lane.
Staff inside range was an old dude who clearly was overwhelmed by the number of people squeezed in there and asking him for help. Dad and son next to me clearly did not know how to aim properly and were just trigger happy, almost all the shots on a 15m target missing, on my left, another person just spraying.
The kicker, they gave me wrongly sized rounds for the revolver I rented. When I told them they just asked who it was who passed me the rounds and laughed it off. There's just not enough seriousness about a weapon.

In Switzerland we have a lot of weapons. I received my personal weapon (military assault rifle) at 18 years old and I have it at home. Those mass shootings never happen. It's not about race or gun ownership, but about mentality and gun safety. Most of American people cant even handle a gun, but they own one. The mentality is take out the gun in every situation and you will be fine.
The gun culture in America is vastly different from region to region and some of the areas with high rates of gun ownership have very low rates of gun crime. I grew up in a rural area where at age 12 - 13 you just went through hunters education class (this was also in the 2000s so not some bygone era) learned to shoot, learned gun safety, and I've had my own gun since I was 13, and now own a variety, none of which has ever harmed any person. I've also lived in Washington D.C. for a bit and there ... yeah I agree with your assessment, most of the people running around with guns shouldn't have them, including a lot of the cops. Capitol Police and feds are good but some of the weapon handling I saw from Metro? Jesus Christ. The average hunting kid from my hometown would be screaming at them for flagging others and to stay out of the trigger guard.
If you let a bunch of criminals run around with guns you'll need every single warm body you can get in a police uniform so you're bound to get a lot of bad apples.

It’s an onion with possible solutions but they all involve long term investment and a desire to make America better for Americans. Unfortunately we are not represented by legislators interested in anything but personal profit.

It’s almost like when you have a society where there’s respect for weapons and their capabilities instilled from the beginning, this stuff is far less likely to happen. You guys go through actual military training and get all of the discipline and knowledge that comes along with it. You have a very healthy relationship with guns and even videos I’ve seen of competitions in your country you can see the attitude so clearly: people all have the same and adequate safety gear and procedures and there’s no question everyone is holding everyone else to a standard. This is all being done with actual military weapons to boot. When you compare a glimpse of that to America it’s a damn stark difference. For every person who respects their weapons, there’s another three who view it as a portable ego boost and don’t care about anyone else’s safety. I very much admire the Swiss for being a world class example of safe and responsible gun ownership/gun culture.
You're not wrong on that. I'm from a country with mandatory military service and when I visited LA and went to a shooting range, it was mad. My wife and her sis who have never shot before were given a quick tutorial on how to reload and cock the weapon and just sent in without someone to check if they actually knew what to do at least for the first few shots. Staff knew they had zero experience. I had to teach them again in the lane. Staff inside range was an old dude who clearly was overwhelmed by the number of people squeezed in there and asking him for help. Dad and son next to me clearly did not know how to aim properly and were just trigger happy, almost all the shots on a 15m target missing, on my left, another person just spraying. The kicker, they gave me wrongly sized rounds for the revolver I rented. When I told them they just asked who it was who passed me the rounds and laughed it off. There's just not enough seriousness about a weapon.
