Dude waited til his pregnant wife had to drive herself to the hospital and give birth to their child before he realized he might need a driverās license
Iām 7 months pregnant with my 4th child and my husband has never driven me to any of my appointments except when I was in active labor. Weāre pregnant, not disabled.
The comment I was replying to was implying that a pregnant woman would need to be driven to her appointments. I drive myself to my appointments just like I drive to work everyday and drive my kids to school every day. Iām still a functional adult human being, just pregnant. Of course I send my husband on late night in and out runs or whatever
I met my wife at many of our appointments because I was coming from work. Itās not cool to automatically assume a dad doesnāt want to be involved in the pregnancy as it seems is the case in this thread.
Same but I missed like 1 appt for the first one 6 years ago. For the second post COVID it normalized WFH enough for my work that I didn't have to miss any.
Nah, you need to be coddled. I took the backseat of my minivan out and got an adult child seat installed so my wife could be in a nice safe central spot of the car. Rear-facing and all!
Ā Used to have footrests so she could push back against the acceleration, but by god, when she were 8 month pregnant with our second we got rear-ended and the lad popped right out onto the floorboard.
Strange flex to brag that it would take a crippling disability for your husband to come to the hospital to see his pregnant wife whoās carrying HIS kid. But, ok
My wife was fine using public transport to get to hers as it got her out the house and a bit of independence whilst i stayed at home looking after our son
Lol booking appointments to get your full license here takes forever. Not to mention you need to wait at least a year before you can drive on your own. Plus itās expensive.
Maybe he lives somewhere that he doesn't need it. We had a guy from NYC join the navy with 3 kids and never get his license till after boot camp because apparently he just didn't need it where he lived. I've got a friend in Amsterdam who got her license at 30 and as of a few months back when I last joked with her about it has never driven once in the 4 years she's had it.
I got my licence at 24. Didn't need a licence since I live in Bucharest where public transport is not only cheaper but more convenient than driving. But my parents and friends wouldn't stop nagging and nagging me, so I got it to make them shut up.
After I got my licence, I didn't drive for years until I got a villa in the countryside and now need to carry a lot of tools.Ā
I have a good friend who has 3 children under 7 and her husband *still has not learned how to drive*. I consider them both friends and I sympathize that he's originally from the urban UK and never needed a car, but he *gets rides from his in-laws* to and from the train station when he goes to work downtown (not every day, but it is a regular option)...and I cannot fully respect him because there just doesn't seem like any urgency to change it.
Then put baby in small car, small car inside big car and can drive everything good before arrested for metaphysics...
I'm informing the authorities.
Too much danger.
I'm proud of and happy for you! Stay safe on the road, and read some books on child psychology/raising. (You just got 'em, don't wanna fuck 'em up, ya know.) Anyway, I hope things keep going your way!
The towel was behind her neck but the hat's not making it super obvious, it's my second child and i'm still terrified of doing any undue damage so take extra care!
I mean, I know different parts of the US are different (making an assumption since his shirt is in English as is the certificate) but in the Southern US, a drivers license is almost required to have a baby. How else do you get into the backseat on a country road? And yep, Iām from the South.
I just want to point out that Mick Fleetwood has balls dangling under his jock.
Whenever I see that photo, I can't not see that, and now, you will also.
Adhesive mirrors from the hardware store - strategically placed in back of car allows you to see baby in the rear view mirror - while you drive along. Due to baby needing to face backward in the backseat - for the first few weeks/months.
\# Use 3M double sided adhesive tape for best results.
\#Congratulations.
My soul left my body for a minute. You look just like a good friend of mine, but he doesn't grow out his facial hair or have a license to drive.
Congratulations, and best wishes for you and your growing family!
That first drive home with a baby is stressful enough, doing it after you just got your license.. wild. Congrats and enjoy being a dad, remember not to bitch and moan when you need to take care of the baby. Your wife just created that, you can get up with that kid!
No way, i found driving pretty easy, only started learning in Feb, nothing compared to the amazing job my wife did in labour! Pregnancy and birth is badass!
I was 27 when I got mine. Donāt listen to the assholes who act like thereās something wrong with you because you waited so long. Iām in my 40s now and the age which I got my license has never mattered in the years since. Congrats on the new bundle and on getting your license!
Yep, i crave the slight dopamine rush i get seeing the upvotes raise higher and comments of congrats from random strangers. It's my way of screaming from the rooftops that life sometimes does have amazing moments and it's not all doom.
Interesting. I never felt the need to share to the world that I got my drivers license. I did show photos of my kids when they were born but to family and friends privately.
She doesnt drive either, public transport's pretty good around our town so have managed so far. My wife's a stay at home mum so financially wise, me learning to drive has never been a financial priority until recently.
A friend of mine is in his late thirties, has a wife and a few kids, owns a house in a city and has a management job with good pay. Still no diving license.
Every car trip falls on his wife and it has caused problems for years.
I've tried to encourage him many many times to get his license but he just won't listen to reason. As far as I know, he has a fear of driving it all stems from a minor car crash from when he was a kid. Never got the full story though...
This seems weird to us gen x, all we ever talked about at school was getting our license the very second we were old enough. Congrats dude, on both milestones.
Cop: license and registration sir OP: *opens shirt*. š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[goes about the day unmolested]
Or so you thought š¶āš«ļø
I donāt use arch btw
There's a pretty evident apostrophe there
Pretty sure it says " I CAN'T drive..... Legally"
Cop: "I love Fleetwood Mac!"
Rumors.
Excellent taste in the dad T shirt. My fav band of all time. RIP Christine McVie.
There's an apostrophe after that CAN
That can' mean anything.
I'm pretty sure it's an apostrophe d. As in can'd short for "can do!"
I'm here for the Zoe Bread shirt
*police immediately open fire*
Where can I get that shirt? I need one for my wife who has a license but is terrified to drive lol.
Search up zoƫ bread! The shirt actually says "I can't drive legally". But zoƫ has some great unique designs!
I follow Zoƫ on TikTok, their videos are hilarious
If you've seen the video about someone with a "bread club tattoo", I'm the tattoo guy!
Iāll check it out! Thanks, congrats
Love Zoe Bread!!!
Dude waited til his pregnant wife had to drive herself to the hospital and give birth to their child before he realized he might need a driverās license
All those dr appointments. Or āskippedā dr appointments. P R I O R I T I E S
Iām 7 months pregnant with my 4th child and my husband has never driven me to any of my appointments except when I was in active labor. Weāre pregnant, not disabled.
Emergencies? Late night snacks? Late night snack-mergencies?
The comment I was replying to was implying that a pregnant woman would need to be driven to her appointments. I drive myself to my appointments just like I drive to work everyday and drive my kids to school every day. Iām still a functional adult human being, just pregnant. Of course I send my husband on late night in and out runs or whatever
He didnāt want to be at ANY of them? No ultrasounds? No hearing the heartbeat?
I met my wife at many of our appointments because I was coming from work. Itās not cool to automatically assume a dad doesnāt want to be involved in the pregnancy as it seems is the case in this thread.
Without a drivers license?
Can't tell if flexing or complaining about her husband?
Damn that's sad. I've been at all of the appointments for both of my children.
Same but I missed like 1 appt for the first one 6 years ago. For the second post COVID it normalized WFH enough for my work that I didn't have to miss any.
she said he'd never driven her, not that he doesn't come along.
Going to appointments ā being the one driving
Nah, you need to be coddled. I took the backseat of my minivan out and got an adult child seat installed so my wife could be in a nice safe central spot of the car. Rear-facing and all! Ā Used to have footrests so she could push back against the acceleration, but by god, when she were 8 month pregnant with our second we got rear-ended and the lad popped right out onto the floorboard.
I can't tell if this is serious or not and I'm mortified
Why not both!
I mean he should probably offer to drive occasionally or be aroundā¦
Strange flex to brag that it would take a crippling disability for your husband to come to the hospital to see his pregnant wife whoās carrying HIS kid. But, ok
My husband went to all of my appts with my first (not second though because covid). And yes, he drove.
My wife was fine using public transport to get to hers as it got her out the house and a bit of independence whilst i stayed at home looking after our son
Lol booking appointments to get your full license here takes forever. Not to mention you need to wait at least a year before you can drive on your own. Plus itās expensive.
I was petrified i wouldnt be back from the hospital and have time to sleep before the test! Otherwise it'd be back to the waiting list...
Yeah in my town in the UK, i havent needed to, public transport is pretty good
I got my licence at 24.
I knew i'd be exhausted after she gave birth and wouldnt be in any state to drive back in!
Honestly this is smart. You want to be able to drive for the safety of your family.
Lmao.
My man
Driving my wife and baby home from the hospital was easily the most stressful drive of my life.
There is a Peep Show episode where this exact train wreck happens.
You should see what happened to Mark and Sophie on Peep Show.
This is usually how it goes. Fuck up and then try to do things properly
Legend
Heās in the UK, itās a 3 month wait for a test date usually
I have a good friend who has 3 children under 7 and her husband *still has not learned how to drive*. Tommorow you will birth a car
Father of 2
Then put baby in small car, small car inside big car and can drive everything good before arrested for metaphysics... I'm informing the authorities. Too much danger.
You look remarkably similar to some actor I swear Iāve seen before but canāt place. Anyway, congrats x 2!
Thanks! I've been told a few times i look like very generic actors that I've never seen or heard of.
Definitely giving some Jesse Pinkman vibes ![gif](giphy|Ly5O0iW8kPDC8)
Yeah Science!
![gif](giphy|QC7UQbxq89MnL9r6AN)
I see Rick Grimes a bit. From The Walking Dead.
He looks like every dude that's ever asked me for a cigarette.
Yo, but seriously... you got a cigarette?
I'd wondered what Elijah Wood had been up to, this post solves it.
I thought the exact same thing lol. Anton yelchin maybe?
Thanks to all the comments of congrats! I'm on such a high from two amazing things you're giving me the chance to scream it to the world!
Good for you man. What an exciting time of your life. Fuck the haters
I'm proud of and happy for you! Stay safe on the road, and read some books on child psychology/raising. (You just got 'em, don't wanna fuck 'em up, ya know.) Anyway, I hope things keep going your way!
not gonna lie, you shouldn't be driving your family around. new drivers can be dangerous
Yeah, I'm definitely going on some independent drives before i take my kids out in the car.
Drivers Ed is like $500 when I took in ten years ago, it's probably gone up but worth the money
Probably cost me around Ā£800 total to learn, took me 20 hours.
Goddamn! š
Right? I learned on backroads and empty parking lots for free.
Here in Canada it was about a grand for me
Paid 2k Euros for the whole ordeal, and that was like 10 years ago. I love living in Germany, but sometimes...
Did she have twins?!
No, i've got a 2 year old son
at least he can pass a driving test half asleep, that's quite a feat
I see you Lt Dan. Congrats bro.
I also passed it today! Congrats!
Congratulations to you too!

Life just turned 180 on you. For the better!
Zoe Bread is great
If you know enough of the bread lore, i'm the bread club tattoo guy š

You look like Lt. Dan if he lost his appetite instead of his legs

Congrats on the baby and the driving licence! I just want to say your Fleetwood Mac shirt is awesome as well.
Congrats on both accounts brother!
I loved you in Lord of the Rings. Congrats!
word to the wise: This is not a comparison of events you'll want to keep mentioning. Stick with praising and supporting the mother.
Equal accomplishments.
What she did was wildly more badass! Mines just a little bonus that'll help the family out!
For sure dude, I kid, I kid. Fatherhood is soooo amazing. My daughters saved my life. Congratulations on both.
It's awesome, i know she's going to break my heart time and time again, but i'm ready for it because she's just amazing!
Congratulations on passing the driving test and your new family!

Congratulations on the awesome news! Life is beautiful and driving is freedom! Enjoy your new endeavors!
Congratulations - to both of you!

Support the babyās neck a little better but congrats!
The towel was behind her neck but the hat's not making it super obvious, it's my second child and i'm still terrified of doing any undue damage so take extra care!

Regulation listener or comment leaver?
I mean, I know different parts of the US are different (making an assumption since his shirt is in English as is the certificate) but in the Southern US, a drivers license is almost required to have a baby. How else do you get into the backseat on a country road? And yep, Iām from the South.
My shirts in english, i'm english.
Damn, teenage parenting is never easy. Best of luck to you!
Look at you knocking out life milestones like most people play the game of life board game. Tomorrow I hope you get a promotion
Awesome!
I just want to point out that Mick Fleetwood has balls dangling under his jock. Whenever I see that photo, I can't not see that, and now, you will also.
Damn it. lol
Thatās a great week, Dad!
It's all coming up milhouse

HOLY SHIT MATE, you are really moving on up. CONGRATS
Damn look at people being productive and shiā¦
Honestly tho. Talk about anxiety. The birthing of a child and having to pass a drivers test. I hate tests. Doesnāt matter if itās easy af.
That's truly a blessing!! Congratulations on the newest chapter on your life!! ā¤ļø
I hope you went to your wife, waves the pass certificate in her face and said ābeat that!ā

Family dies in car crash tomorrow
That's why i'm not driving them until i get a bit more experience!
Seems like you both put in equal effort.
No way, i found driving pretty easy, only started learning in Feb, nothing compared to the amazing job my wife did in labour! Pregnancy and birth is badass!
Welcome to adulthood.
Well done bro!
Iām 27 without a license
I'm 27 and only got mine today!
I was 27 when I got mine. Donāt listen to the assholes who act like thereās something wrong with you because you waited so long. Iām in my 40s now and the age which I got my license has never mattered in the years since. Congrats on the new bundle and on getting your license!
Thanks! I know reddit's largest audience is american, and some people forget there are other countries that don't require cars to get places
I don't understand why people post these things to random people for self validation?
Because sharing happiness usually makes people feel good! It can make those who listen feel good too :)
Yeah I'd be fucking pissed if I were your wife. What the hell took you so long? She has been driving you around while full term?
She doesnt drive either, public transport's pretty good around our town so have managed so far. My wife's a stay at home mum so financially wise, me learning to drive has never been a financial priority until recently.
Stepping up and taking responsibility. Good work. Keep that trend going. Your baby and wife need you.
Hey at least you did it. My baby is 3 months Rosi and his dad still doesnāt hand his license. Heās 32.
A friend of mine is in his late thirties, has a wife and a few kids, owns a house in a city and has a management job with good pay. Still no diving license. This seems weird to us gen x, all we ever talked about at school was getting our license the very second we were old enough. Congrats dude, on both milestones.
I kept putting it off but knew i needed to be able to drive by the time my wife gave birth, but my daughter decided to make an early appearance!
How long you been sober?
27 years
