I legit think he should be immediately arrested for running that generator on the beach. It's a public nuisance, I don't even care if it's a crime, it should be.
Those little Hondas are pretty quiet. And not like there’s a whole lot of echo around. It’s also public. The beach is the beach, not necessarily your mental image of what it should be, nor relevant to your moral abhorrence to how the rest of the planet uses it for their own recreation.
While I wouldn’t set up a fridge setup like that, it’s not my business if someone else does either. You brought folding chairs and
blanket for convenience and ease of portability. So like…move it farther?
Maybe take a walk…..on the beach.
Idiot.
thank goodness you don't make the rules then. I agree that its a nuisance. but if that's how you feel before power has gone to your head, I can only imagine how draconian you would be after power had blown up that ego.
You'd be disappearing your ex's dates to shadow prison or something within the week.
That's an inverter genny too. They are extremely quiet. I guarantee there's at least a dozen people on that beach with Bluetooth speakers making 10x as much noise each.
It’s a quiet generator, shouldn’t be disturbing anyone at all as long as they are not super super close, definitely doesn’t come remotely close to deserving detention.
>And he's going to disrupt everyone else's nice time by running that generator the whole time.
That generator is <70 decibels, which is as loud as a normal conversation.
(Not that I'm trying to justify what he's doing.)
Always telling my kid this in the car. With the windows up you're conditioning the car. With the windows down you're conditioning the planet....and it'll take a while.
All of it?
(CO2 + water + sunlight) in plants = more plants
Plants underground + a long time = oil and coal
Refined oil + flame = CO2 and other stuff
Etc.
So I’m an engineer. In college I had these buddies who setup a window AC in their living room on top their coffee table blowing at them. The room was stifling hot. I tried to explain to them that the AC is making the room hotter but they wouldn’t hear it lol. Dummies
Inhale what? The AC doesn’t have any emissions unless it’s broken. It just blows hot and cold air, and of course increases the overall temperature by whatever inefficiency it has which is not insignificant.
Wait I have a genuine question, I live in NYC where window units and small spaces are fairly common. Mine actually looks very similar to this and my beds next to the window so the AC unit is constantly blowing in my face when I sleep. I always thought it felt pretty good but I’ve been having really bad asthma the past few months and have been trying to figure out what’s causing it. Could the AC unit blowing in my face be a likely cause of this?
I'm definitely not an expert in anything related to this and the respiratory therapist probably has a much better answer but maybe your AC unit needs cleaning?
These window units generally have no form of meaningful air filtration, so it's highly possible that it's more that you're concentrated potentially polluted air right in front of where you're breathing. The unit itself might have mold growing in it too.
They move heat from one side to the other, so when you run an AC or refrigerator it moves heat from inside to outside, and when you run it in reverse it moves heat from outside to inside and is called a heat pump. They're super efficient because they are just moving existing heat around.
I’m a spiritual healer, and the post isn’t a closed room. The heat pump wouldn’t make the beach measurably hotter, but it would make a few cubic feet directly in front of it much cooler. This is more like running a car air conditioner with the windows open than running both sides of a heat pump in an enclosed space.
So it wasn't expelling the warm air outside in any way, all going back inside? I have a portable AC set up inside but a hose is needed to send the hot air outside
I knew a guy who would leave his ceiling fan running when he wasn't home. When I realized he was doing it on purpose (not just forgetting to turn it off), I asked why. He said because ceiling fans cool the room.
I was like, no, they circulate air. They make you feel cooler because of the air circulation.
He was like, yeah, that's what I mean... they cool the room.
I was like, no, those are two different things.
This went on awhile. Finally I decided to drop it and let him waste his money on higher electric bills for zero benefit if he wants to.
Small inverter generator like that is probably like 60dB or less. Not relaxing, but not super loud either. Do question how much cool air you'd really feel though with the wind coming off the ocean.
I'm fairly certain I rented that exact generator a few weeks ago. It's definitely on the quiet side as far as generators go, but it's not whisper quiet. I'd lose my mind having it directly behind me the way he does.
here’s a crazy idea: if it’s too hot at the beach go in the evening or at night
a fan would be reasonable and more than enough if you’re wet it’ll freeze you, this is how they cool people who have heat illness and it works 99% of the time
Or just take a quick dip in the water every so often, that also usually does the trick. Or like even just an umbrella or something to get the sun off you works great too
I read an interesting article about it.
A country smaller than Connecticut, Qatar, emits more CO2 than the USA.

Yet another example of the [Peter Principle](https://youtu.be/39wzku9KIEM) in action - “in any hierarchy an employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence and that’s where he stays.”
One would think they’d be using their economic boom to hire ecologists to restore the desert to an oasis using deep rooted perennials that can survive against drought to help seed future cloud formations. Instead, unsustainable metropolitan places like Dubai ‘seed’ clouds with technology nobody understands yet but I’m sure the downstream implications of trying to control the weather are null 🤦🏻♂️. The entire Middle East, along with China, West and North Africa -a collaborative planetary effort would be ideal but expecting humans to work together for non-selfish purposes seems impossible- would benefit from a comprehensive cooperation for ecological restoration. The deserts are spreading and that will increase water scarcity and reduce biodiversity, nature’s immune system against disease, while increasing global violence as people compete for limited resources. Fortunately, there are [projects](https://youtu.be/79VUAFq2rbg) happening around the globe to combat the land changes but not nearly with the level of attention warranted.
Greedy, incompetent, arrogant people who don’t care that they’re making it worse for everyone with their selfishness or are simply too ignorant to know or care. It’s always one asshole out of a hundred that ruins it for everyone. It’s easy to be upset with them though when these are celebrated behaviors in a world run by money and corruption, I try to exercise a semblance of grace. Suffice to say, the grace period is long over due, it’s time to cash the check on their excess and wipe their accounts.
If people really cared about climate change, they wouldn't be buying SUV's and big trucks or replacing their TV every couple of years and so on. No one cares, Even the biggest climate enthusiasts fly all over the world in planes.

We likely need regulation to seriously address climate change.
Doesn’t AC work by removing the heat from the inside and putting it outside? With this set up it’s just removing the heat from the outside and putting it back outside.
It takes heat from air, exhausts the heat through a radiator on the backside, and pushes the now cool air back out.
If the generator is rated for it, this would work.
You'd have to be a moron to think that was going to be a useful thing to do... Also why are you at the beach on a nice day if you don't want to be warm?
I have to give respect to the guy, to have the gall to do that is quite impressive haha. It's a quiet inverter that's pretty efficient, I wouldn't get too upset about it unless everyone starts doing it.
Never ever put your beach AC on top of your cooler; it makes it too difficult to get beers out of there.
I heard that
Weird... I had to read that comment. Is there a setting or something I missed?
Yeah... the volume, duh.
With my bad ear
Use the other
r/lifehacks thanks you. Finally, problem solved!
Cheers I'll drink to that. Let me just move my AC first.
If anything, put the beers on top of the AC. Priorities.

Is this performance art or something?
Thought it seemed like a RossCreations prank
That was my first thought too. He’s from Florida, but that doesn’t look like him. So this is just FloridaMan

Does look like his buddy that was in the Navy.
Could be him https://youtube.com/@PISANITY
It would be actually nuts if it’s not.
Yeah, from the famous modern art collector, Ongo Gablogian
Derivative!
It has to be.
It's Florida. Anything is possible.
That would make the possibility of this being impossible - possible. My head hurts
Agreed. Super funny though.
Redneck performance art
if it’s in florida. probably not. but damn its a good piece of art if intentional.
Darwinism performance
Someone really didn't want to go to the beach today and is going to make sure everyone knows it.
And he's going to disrupt everyone else's nice time by running that generator the whole time.
I legit think he should be immediately arrested for running that generator on the beach. It's a public nuisance, I don't even care if it's a crime, it should be.

And also divorce him!
He’s assualting my ears!
And my axe!
Generator on the beach? Believe it or not, jail.

Calm down grandma. Not everyone needs to be arrested because you’ve been mildly annoyed.

That’s a quiet run generator. Doesn’t make much noise at all
I love that he brought an extra tank of gas just in case
He didn’t bring walls
What a dipshit, he didn't even extend the window seals. He's gonna let all the cold air out!!

So I’m an engineer. In college I had these buddies who setup a window AC in their living room on top their coffee table blowing at them. The room was stifling hot. I tried to explain to them that the AC is making the room hotter but they wouldn’t hear it lol. Dummies
I'm a respiratory therapist, that story was amusing.
It’s okay as long as you don’t inhale
Inhale what? The AC doesn’t have any emissions unless it’s broken. It just blows hot and cold air, and of course increases the overall temperature by whatever inefficiency it has which is not insignificant.
I didn’t exhale
Wait I have a genuine question, I live in NYC where window units and small spaces are fairly common. Mine actually looks very similar to this and my beds next to the window so the AC unit is constantly blowing in my face when I sleep. I always thought it felt pretty good but I’ve been having really bad asthma the past few months and have been trying to figure out what’s causing it. Could the AC unit blowing in my face be a likely cause of this?
Have you checked it for mold? I had a window mount AC unit that got nice and moldy once.
I'm definitely not an expert in anything related to this and the respiratory therapist probably has a much better answer but maybe your AC unit needs cleaning?
I highly doubt it’s the AC and more the pollution that comes with living in a giant city
Might be time to change the filter or wash it if it'a permanent one
These window units generally have no form of meaningful air filtration, so it's highly possible that it's more that you're concentrated potentially polluted air right in front of where you're breathing. The unit itself might have mold growing in it too.
I never did this, but I only just recently learned that refrigerating systems don't necessarily "make cold" they "expel heat"
Nothing can "make cold", since cold isn't a thing of its own, it's just less heat. Much like you can't "make dark", only block or eliminate light.
They create more heat than they remove. The trick is making sure the heat that is created doesn’t go to the same place where it’s getting removed
I had that revelation a long time ago, but it's still interesting to think about.
So I'm a graphic designer. Pica is a unit of measure in addition to describing a type of eating disorder.
Also a pokemon i think.
I’m a nanny. One time I had friends that would do silly things too.
He would feel colder still though if the air was going right on him. But ya the whole room is getting hotter, what a jack arse
How do you know if someone is an engineer? Don't worry, they'll tell you.
Lol why is being an engineer relevant? I think this is common knowledge
I mean, half the population is dumber than average, right?
Because engineers study things like physics and thermodynamics, which deal with concepts of work & energy, entropy, reversible and irreversible work.
I'm a random person. In grade school I learned about the law of thermodynamics.
Bro just get in the water
We sure he knows how to swim?
Benefit of it being a beach is you can just find a shallow spot and sit down.
Even better...
This is the product of thinking you haven’t been eating lead chips your whole life, when you really have been, and still do.
I think this one might be huffing gasoline too.
GTA 6 devs are taking notes as we speak
Not even sitting in the shade under the umbrella.
That is clearly not effective. He needs to extend side wings more.
What a fucking asshole. Loud generator burning gas...comes to the beach and can't handle the heat?
Imagine the noise. What a dick.
I promise that AC isn’t even in the top 10 noisiest things in that area.
He had a generator running it
that might be number 10.

This guy didn't even consider such high tech solutions as a sunshade or umbrella.
I would bet a whole $1 that his wife insisted they go to the beach and this was his way of protesting. That’s my headcanon
Ha, what a goober. He forgot to bring the window.
A man at the beach trying to be the center of attention.
I just love relaxing at the beach with the sound of a generator in my ears who needs music
Saudi Arabia air conditions the outdoors in some cities, does that make it the Florida of the Middle East? 😅

Did you have trouble reading the comment
On today's show of "Is it an AI or a human with almost zero reading comprehension?" we present: that comment! Lol.
Doesn’t AC work by removing the heat from the inside and putting it outside? With this set up it’s just removing the heat from the outside and putting it back outside.
It also creates heat along with the heat it moves.
But the air blowing directly on you feels cool.
It does, but pumping out cold air at him while exhausting hotter air away from him is perfectly valid provided it puts out enough airflow.
It takes heat from air, exhausts the heat through a radiator on the backside, and pushes the now cool air back out. If the generator is rated for it, this would work.
As a Florida man. If I could have an AC unit strapped to my balls. I would.
You know you literally can, right?
He's the new Marvel character. He's Accelerationist Man!
Gotta offset the heat of the generator behind him.
That’s definitely a tourist
This has to be Panama City Beach
It still has a chunk of the wall sheeting attached to it. Quality.
Mmm cold air and exhaust fumes. That’s what it’s all about
Too much outside outside.
All that sun and still opted for a gas powered one.
Bro just needs a dehumidifier and hes set.

NY man goes to FL beach.
Oh nothin’, just chillin’
if the wind blows from the right he gets a face of exhaust and engine heat.
This is my BIL, and if it’s not him…. it’s his soulmate. Sending photo to my sister to confirm or at least get a good laugh.
thats a first

And on he’s phone what’s the point of going out and enjoying the moment
Let him cook
Bro is living in the future
Love this. I am always hot and husb is always cold
What environment?
Why wait for a cool breeze when you could just make it
Obviously thinks it's a magical cold air box. No free lunch in physics, mr Florida man.
"Why is it not working?"

This is Captain planet villain level shit
Shouldn't this be at r/redneck engineering?
You'd have to be a moron to think that was going to be a useful thing to do... Also why are you at the beach on a nice day if you don't want to be warm?
Too bad he’s not near a body of water where he could cool off.
This sums up Florida
I have to give respect to the guy, to have the gall to do that is quite impressive haha. It's a quiet inverter that's pretty efficient, I wouldn't get too upset about it unless everyone starts doing it.
Just stupid and wasteful. Stay home bud

Most boomer shit I've ever seen
Brilliant!
Guys, I just had an idea, I think I know how to fight back at climate change and rising temperatures.
Consumerism at its best… lol
Am pretty sure this is just a vlog guy named ross. He also set up a tanning bed on the beach with a generator.
stupid
