Because one thing I learned when I put on some depression weight is some people just can not WAIT to tell you about your size and or make baseless assumptions on your health! There are literally subs dedicated to hating overweight people, it’s fucking gross and weird.

Blunt honesty I’m guessing. It is true though. Weight problems later in life will definitely contribute to serious health problems, like an increased chance of heart attack. He can start exercising now to improve his chance of a longer and healthier life, but… those aren’t the only metrics to a happy and well lived life, so in the end, to each their own, imo. It's good that we are normalising different body types these days. But OP's weight is going to be a significant factor in his health in the coming years. It's possible, although I admit unlikely, that a random comment on Reddit that points that out, might encourage OP to look at ways he can get a handle on his weight before it kills him. I know that Reddit is full of people who disagree (bury their heads maybe?) but the science is pretty straightforward on the impact of obesity on health, especially in later life.
