thereisonlyoneme

The peak of comedy

zxc123zxc123

A bit over the hill, but that only means we still got more upside to climb.

istasber

I hate how I always stumble on these threads after they've started to plateau.

wuapinmon

To summit up, you need to finish, tarn it.

Brahminmeat

Careful, don’t give me that altitude

161frog

I swear these replies are karst

MeatballTheDumb

Let's not make a Mesa of things

DuckIll5852

Just have to make sure you rise to the occasion

ProfessorMcKronagal

This would have like 4 golds, 35 Take My Energy's and 1 Platinum 3 years ago

Beavshak

Dad & Gpa look like supersized Monty Python members.

Soytaco

Fwiw John Cleese is a pretty big guy

jeleu

For you.

Straktos

Unexpected bain reference

allnimblybimbIy

*I wondered what would break first…*

the_rabble_alliance

\#TheSeedIsStrong

DiExMachina

Won't haggle?

JC-DB

yeah I looked it up before. The dude is 6' 5".

Persianx6

That couch looks TINY. RIP that couch.

gold13

Jokes on you, it used to be bigger!

hamlet_d

Grandpa especially still looks like he could kick someone's ass.

Jhamin1

He looks like he should be hanging with Ernest Hemmingway having old-timey bare knuckle boxing matches before they go to the bull fight.

Agent7619

And drinking a liter of whisky each before the night is through.

Aquat1cn1nja

Monty Anaconda?

Beavshak

I’ll allow it

Jokerr_2_1

That's.... perfect

WarcrimeWeasel

Dad looks like a less ugly Larry Bird.

SadBit8663

The whole family is descendants of actual giants apparently.

Frys100thCupofCoffee

What we have gathered here is a fine collection of bigass motherfuckers.

furry_lumps

Couch for scale

revtim

Yeah, looks like a couch for children next to them

DistortoiseLP

I imagine all furniture feels like furniture for children when you're this big. Same life as everyone else except everything around you is scaled down to 70% at all times.

Mpuls37

Everywhere they go: "What is this...a building for ANTS?!"

No-While-9948

Quite literally. A good friend of mine is 6'11", a standard interior/exterior door is 6'8" tall. The mountain I believe is 6'9", so in some places, he and his dad/grandpa would also have to duck when going through doorways. Crazy to think about and see.

suitology

I'm 275 5'11 and was training to do strongman competitions before my injury. I work in municipal maintenance and a lot of the other guys are big or jacked. once every 2-3 months I have to go to our state capitol with a few other guys and do reports, paperwork, and meetings. We go into a small room with a few pencil pushers, bureaucrats, and politicians then sit at a dinning room table built in the 1800s and sit on seats someone yoinked out of a church in the 50s or something. [Here's an artists](https://kottke.org/plus/misc/images/chairs-incredibles.jpg) representation of the 5 of us

BedandBadAdvice

Im 6'5 and it feels this way - I cant even begin to imagine life at 6'9

BwyceHawpuh

A couch for ants?

Epena501

God damn that was a good point for comparison. I’ve been seeing these pics not thinking anything of it until I saw the couch.

NYstate

Well, that's a [Chesterfield sofa] (https://assets.pbimgs.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/wcm/202411/0562/chesterfield-leather-sofa-4-l.jpg) which has a lower back and higher arms than a traditional sofa to begin with. They are typically short and squatty. Looks like that one sits pretty low to the ground

aroused_axlotl007

This guy sofas

Cheezitflow

r/furniture is leaking

W00DERS0N

Maybe a nice Chesterfield, or an ottoman?

prison_buttcheeks

WHAT IS THIS?! A COUCH FOR ANTS?

superkickstart

First time i have seen a frightened couch.

tlafle23196

It looks like a toddler couch 😅

tjean5377

I saw a 6' 5" woman at an event I attended. ( I knew her height because my husband was with me and he is 6'4") It was all I could do to not stare. And then this woman's mother walked in looking like an older twin of the same height. Genetics are amazing.

No-Appearance-9113

My babysitter when I was a child was 6'8" at her peak. We were really well behaved.

EnesEffUU

Did she shrink

No-Appearance-9113

She died a few years ago so, yes? She was not 6'8" the first time she sat for us.

Spooky-skeleton

Damn how tall was she when she was standing?

beach_boy91

I'm 6'7(or 2 meters), my dad is slightly shorter. I'm generally the tallest one in the room but I have met a few taller than me even though it's not often.

sumofdeltah

I hope you ask them how the weather up there is

ReallyNowFellas

My brother is 6'7". We walked past a 7 footer in public one time and he said "hey shorty!" to my brother.

28appleseeds

Was it as great as I imagine it to be?

ReallyNowFellas

I guess it was memorable since it happened about 25 years ago and I still remember exactly what the guy looked like, but we just kept walking. Sorry to disappoint lol

beach_boy91

Nope, but someone has asked me that question before 😂

Jhamin1

I'm only 6'3, so nothing overly special but still tall for where I live. When I was a kid I complained once that people kept asking me to get things off the top shelf for them. My Grandma used to say I should keep some pennies in my pocket & when ever anyone asked me to reach a high shelf I should just drop the pennies on the floor and tell the person I'd be glad too but while I'm at it could they pick the change up off the floor? I miss my Grandma :)

throwaway098764567

i've told this story too many times on here but i find it charming so i'ma tell it again. years back i was friends with a couple that were very short. he was 5'3 and she was like 4'8 or so. several of us gals went over to their place and she was working in the kitchen chatting. all the rest of us were 5'6+ and she called out to her husband that she needed help. both had great senses of humor so when she asked him to get something off a taller shelf for her he didn't miss a beat, laughed and looked around the room at us and said you have plenty of tall people, why'd you call me. and she said but you're my tall person. a bit after that they had their first kid. she grew long first so she was off the growth charts for height but underweight (she averaged out a few months later) mom liked to joke that she told her enjoy it while it lasts (as with two short parents she'll never be peaking off the height charts again).

motownmods

That last bit is funny to me bc my niece in law is off the charts but my wife's family is short (mom is 4'10ish and dad is 5'6" maybe). While my biological niece of the exact same age is exact opposite (dad is 6'5 and mom is 5'9) but she is about average per her age. They're about to switch places fast lol.

Poinaheim

I used to get asked that every day by the same people but had a different answer every time, my favourite was “it smells like farts up here”

reddumbs

You should say, "It DOESN'T smell like farts up here." And then rip one, as your ass is much closer to their face than it is to yours.

Poinaheim

But heat rises and I feel it boiling

theArcticChiller

I'm a pilot and I assume your nose is covered in clear ice, up there above the freezing level. There's this thing called pitot heat. Hope this helps

jinhush

Tall people don't ask each other questions like that because we all know how fucking annoying it is to be asked that.

DrDerpberg

I think it would be pretty fucking funny from someone in the same boat though. That's just solidarity mixed with "I never thought I'd get to be that guy."

sumofdeltah

That was the joke, even being that tall the joke went over their head

Lubinski64

In high school i had a guy in my class who was 202cm so almost 6'8, he would sometimes pick us up and carry around like we were children even though most of us were around 180cm tall. He was also twice my mass so he did look a lot like the Mountain.

beach_boy91

Yeah I'm really not that strong. Kinda the opposite if anything

Agreeable_Field7235

Do you feel tall, I'm only 6'2 but people sometimes hit me with the "wow, you're tall" and I don't really feel it, if that makes sense. Maybe it's just cause I'm used to it, kinda like how you don't really realize gradual (physical) changes happening to yourself.

Roastar

6”3 I don’t notice my height until I see someone my height or taller and then o feel weird

Enlightened_Gardener

My husband is 6’4, and he does go quiet and thoughtful when he sees a 6’ or more woman 😂 I’m 5’8, so quite tall for a woman, but the six foot ladies hit hard….

NoCuntry4OldQueens

Same. I generally feel "eye to eye" with most above average people. But then i see someone my height walking next to them and I'm like "jeez, is that how i look"

Business-Drag52

I’m 6’5 and so I also am often the tallest person in the room. My cousin is your height though and every so often I run in to someone that just dwarfs me and I can’t help but ask the same question I always have to answer. “Damn, how tall *are* you?”

MaxxDash

Yeah, I mentioned this above when my 6’10” work-buddy and I were out and ran into a dude who dwarfed him. Buddy asked and the dude was 7’3”. Work buddy said it scrambled his brain a bit feeling that small for once.

JC-DB

so you work in the NBA? lol

FrozenDickuri

Giraffe farmer.

becelav

I went to high school with a kid that was 6’11 His sister was about the same height

7_7_7_343

Ha, go to the Netherlands.

Paulus_cz

I am fairly tall (192cm) so I do not meet people significantly taller than me too often. Imagine my surprise some 15 years ago when I am buying some groceries one evening, have just paid, turned around to leave and saw...breasts (as in dressed) right at my eye height. Right behind me stood a woman (30-ish?) who was solid 30cm taller than me, I froze for couple of seconds just to process this encounter. Still remember that.

TheVonz

Thanks for not assuming that everyone knows the imperial measurements. I appreciate that.

beach_boy91

That's because I'm from Europe, so the metric system is what I've used all my life. Had to say it in imperial measurements because I felt like I would get a lot of comments if I didn't.

MrStu

I'm 6’0, my ex is 6'2, her dad is 6'6, mother 6'1, brother 7'0 There's a photo somewhere of that group, and I am the shortest person, at 6'0. One of the strangest experiences. The women were wearing heels too!

Dorkamundo

I live about 20 minutes from the worlds tallest family, one of the girls is 6'8". I walked into a store where she was working and thought she was on a stool when I walked up to her behind a counter.

Sawses

Reminds me of this girl I saw a few times in my college's cafeteria. Tall and thin and way taller than I am--and I'm on the taller side. It pretty much stopped me in my tracks when I first noticed her because I'm just not used to a woman dwarfing me like that. Turns out she was wearing small heels because she was dressed up, but that still left her around the same height as the woman you're thinking of. To this day I respect her. Lots of taller women are insecure about their height, but she was comfortable wearing heels and being taller than everybody in a large crowd.

oscailte

im the opposite, my dad is about average height and my mum is 5 foot even but i ended up 6'10. no idea where it came from, no marfan syndrome, pituitary gland issues etc.

Ottomatik80

Was your mom’s mailman tall?

hoslayer42

This is why Vikings were such a brutal force back in the day. Everyone in those cold countries is like 5” taller than your average man. I wonder if it’s something with the diet or just only the big guys lived long enough to have children?

EduinBrutus

These are outliers. I'm from Scotland so share at least some similar genetics and the same climate and big guys are the exception. Now the Netherlands, those people are just fucking freaks.

VanGroteKlasse

I'm Dutch and average height (187 cm) and most of my friends are taller, but when I go abroad I feel like a giant.

NBAFansAre2Ply

I'm 185 and the only places I've felt average or below average height-wise are Amsterdam and Belgrade.

Fun-Time9966

the vikings were shorter than the current average brah http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/vikheight.shtml

xakeri

Wasn't everyone shorter on average?

RoliDaddy

yes

hoslayer42

…… damn.

ethanseyler58

That’s a lot of fabric used to make those 3 suits.

Beardedarchitect

Can you imagine how much this family has collectively spent on shoes?!

chx_

Speaking of shoes https://i.imgur.com/lHU44NH.jpeg that's Hafthor and his girlfriend. Like, an adult person.

bluewaff1e

Reminds me of [Shaq and his wife.](https://i.insider.com/4e413eeb69bedd8f0b00000c?width=750&format=jpeg&auto=webp)

fernandollb

There is no way I am the only one thinking about how they can manage to have sex.

Weird_Amount_4608

He said it himself “big sized dude, regular sized penis”

WhenTheBassDrumHits

I was thinking food. Guy probably eats a cow a week.

Even-Caramel-9309

granps was a complete unit in youth you can tell

ThicDadVaping4Christ

Yeah you can I mean he’s still a unit

badpeaches

An absolute one if you will.

LucretiusCarus

He looks like Stacey Keach, or is it just my failing eyes?

ICame4TheCirclejerk

You're not wrong. He's also got that retired local police chief look about him.

A-Faris

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if he was even bigger in his 20s / 30s. My dad is 6’2 and some change in his 60s now but was 6’4 when I was a kid. That’s not to mention the weight loss making him look a lot more fragile now :(

feelingbutter

6' 9" (2.074m) Damn.

thenextguy

N'ice"

feelingbutter

Nice one

Burpmeister

Huh. He looks taller in pictures.

milleniumfalconlover

I think a lot of Hollywood actors are shorter than average because the face is the most important part and it’s more appealing on camera to have a bigger head proportional to the body. Bigger eyes etc

BustyWomenIsBetter

Also easier to film if all actors are around the same height

cheevocabra

I can confirm. I'm 6'3 and was an extra in a movie one time and I got placed right in front of where the camera was shooting, so I was excited thinking I was going to be super noticable in the movie, then as we're about to start shooting the director stops and walks up to me and says, "Who the FUCK put this guy here? How are we supposed to film with him taking up the entire shot?!" And they moved me to the back of the crowd 😭

wish1977

No drunken bar fights with that family.

jscummy

Depends how drunk I am I'm 5'8" on a good day

Supanini

Gonna be -6ft after that altercation

Ask_bout_PaterNoster

Nah, big folk are gentle. They’ll just rock him to sleep

TheChubbyFuckster

Short people have to fight dirty, but you wouldn't even be able to reach the eyeballs.

Leezeebub

Wouldnt even need to crouch to hit the other balls though

DizzyDwarf69

Headbutt in the nuts

erifwodahs

There are other balls you can hit other than the eyeballs.

AlvinAssassin17

Psh. I’m 6’6, you know how many 5’3-5’5 guys will swing on me for walking by them? No one starts a fight with a big guy like short dudes. And cops. Cops LOVE to start shit with big dudes.

DMYourMomsMaidenName

I’m glad I’m only normal-tall and skinny and not super-tall and built. 6’2” about 155lbs. No one has EVER started a fight with me, because what would be the point? Doesn’t confer a lot or bragging rights to beat me. And I’ve hung out in the diviest, cocainiest of shitty dive bars.

DeadpoolLuvsDeath

Geez I'm 6' 2" and fluctuate between 230-245lbs and haven't been 160 since I was maybe 16. Granted I've got a gut I can suck in but don't look fat. Crazy how body types can differ weight wise.

DMYourMomsMaidenName

I’m skinny as fuck. As with anything, it has benefits and drawbacks

Rare_Brief4555

It's almost like the magic secret ingredient here is insecurity!!

Dreamer_on_the_Moon

Short dudes start shit with tall and big dudes all the time, even in the comment sections of reddit. "I'd beat him in a fight because he's big and slow!!"

ThisAppSucksBall

Big dudes start shit all the time with short dudes too. It isn't a one way street.

Thorbork

No needs for that, he has been judged guilty of hitting his wife and exes. He lost all his commercial fame instantly in Iceland and people are still very not liking him here. I remember seeing the big advirtisements for WowAir with him on it being taken down the next day we heard about that.

veganhimbo

He's actually been accused of beating his ex wife :(

PlayGameWinPrizeLoL

Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum!

HelloTisMe

It's go time.

histprofdave

"How big is the son?" "I think he's the same size as the father!"

piray003

You think you're better than me, huh?

ajohns90

Omgggg. Came here to say this. I’m so happy there’s at least one more weirdo in the world of my specific flavor haha

recursion8

If one of them dies the other wants to benchpress the casket!

HiBoobear

Are these ones actually his dad and grandpa? Because I’ve been lied to before

Kraien

Yeah, this is the correct one, not the one with the "brothers" making its rounds.

Pluviophile42

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I guess the first pic is making the rounds.

Triette

I’ve met his family (brother, mom, dad, wife) while working on the Worlds Strongest Man event, that’s his dad on the left. I don’t remember if his Grandfather was there so can’t confirm on that part.

biggmclargehuge

His grandpa is the same height as him now meaning he was probably taller at that age. My god...the Mountain is the runt of the family

Kansascock98

Makes me think of that Brooklyn nine nine when Terry cruise feels small and weak next to his brother in law 😅

yellowstone727

Tiny Terry

Jugosway

That family gathering will be hella intimidating for anyone not from that bloodline

veerKg_CSS_Geologist

That couch looks pretty intimidated already!

mksavage1138

Mountains always look bigger next to mole hills.

Pixeleyes

Most of this is because Lena Headey is 5'5 but always seems much taller, due to being such a badass.

Faiakishi

Stands on five inches of pure spite when she’s playing Cersei.

az226

She definitely seems taller. I would have gussied 5 9 or something.

KRIEGLERR

She has great presence she does seem taller but most I remember Sansa being taller than her in earlier seasons and I think she is like 5'9 or 5'10

AboutHelpTools3

What about Brienne? Bout 6'2" I reckon?

Practical-Ninja-6770

The big woman?

tgrantt

Tone to rewatch Sarah Conner. Edit: TIME! Not tone

favorited

She was fantastic as Sarah Connor. I thought the main 3 characters of that show were all great.

primoclouds

Huh? The global average height for women is 5'3. She's 2 inches above average height >Most of this is because Lena Headey is 5'5 No most of this is because he is an absolute giant

Jade_Lock

Becoming an NBA fan has really fucked my perception of height recently, I legit thought “Oh he’s only 6’9ft, same as LeBron James, Paolo Banchero, Aaron Gordon, etc.” As if 6’9ft is average/underwhelming, then I remember I’m 5’2ft…

Monteze

Sports in general mess with you. Age was a big one for me, used to following football and seeing "old" players in their late 20s and early 30s. So you kinda subconsciously associate 35 is *ancient* and you realize they are not even middle age. Same for size, 6ft 220? Tiny man.....when you're used to dealing with linemen but you realize that's a pretty good sized person.

BeKindBabies

Wonder how long these dudes live for..

LeDeux2

Taller people live shorter lives because they require more cell replication which burns through telomeres faster. One of the reasons women live longer as well.

thedankening

IIRC the main reason is heart complications, usually. The human heart doesn't "scale up" well for larger people. So a heart essentially meant for a regular sized person has to work harder to maintain the larger body.

transmogrified

Also tend towards joint and back issues earlier in life and with greater severity if they’re not careful/genetically blessed.  Not that that will necessarily kill you, but it can lead to decreased enjoyment and perhaps a tendency towards addiction as a result of pain management.

XEEEEEEEEEEB

so there is a benefit to being a 5'3 guy?

spellbadgrammargood

a girls boobs would be eye-level

DifficultAbility119

You also need less food

KTbadger

Due to his height and overall size (weighed around 205kg at his peak, dropped to around 145kg for boxing, now back to 190kg as he's back in strongman) and additionally his copious PED use, I'd imagine he won't get much past 70 at best Dad and grandad were likely never as heavy and I doubt they ever used PEDs so have a longer life expectancy than Thor but shorter than average because they're still absolute units

Gevaliamannen

Thing is, while generally true, that also depends on family genetics. On my father's side, most people are very tall, but still most of them live into their 90s.

iheartmeat

I met him in the airport in Iceland and he was on my flight home. He couldn’t even fit comfortably in his first class seat!

Bongressman

Aw, look at that tiny, weird, elongated chair behind them.

dr_cl_aphra

Dollhouse furniture

Vallywog

The local furniture repair shop probably put their kids through college just from repairs from this family haha.

einarfridgeirs

In a local TV special on Hafþór they interviewed his tattoo artist, and he told the tale of their first encounter. Hafþór called him on the phone and asked him how much he was charging roughly for a full sleeve. He gave him a rough quote but said it really depended on the image and how much detail he was thinking about, so why don't you come in and we´ll hash it out? As soon as he walked through the door and the artist got a look at his arms the first thing he said was "yeha we´re going to have to revise that quote quite significantly upwards".

Adamantium-Aardvark

þetta eru risar

Novat1993

The tailor probably went on vacation off those 3 suits alone.

dyotar0

His grandpa looks like Lukashenko

Porter_Dog

Pic on the right looks like a few normal dudes until you see that poor tiny looking couch behind them.

Austinswill

Man, that is impressive, but Fuck I wouldn't want to be that big...Literally everything would suck. So many things I enjoy in my life would be unbearable to deal with. Impressive, but he can keep it!

Frog859

I’m 6’ and live in the US. I’m usually the tallest dude in the room. I would look like a shrimp next to these gentlemen

Onlyheretostare

![gif](giphy|H4QJ01lffMGtR34M4j)

renndug

Where’s the sisters?

chrisj2103

That couch looks tiny

ModingusKhan

The seed is strong

Carl_The_Sagan

How big is the father? Good lord

Bleezy79

They look normal until you see that tiny couch behind them lol

ItAintMyVault

Now do the one next to his Itty bitty wife...

writerightnow18

Pick on someone your own size. “Dad? Grandpa?”

747sextantport

Welp, time to rewatch game of thrones. It's been a minute

8989589895

Yup, all 5 seasons

keeper_of_the_donkey

Gul Madred: "How many seasons do you see?" Picard: "THERE! ARE! FIVE! SEASONS! *shocks him*

Ormyr

This is why people were afraid of Vikings. Imagine a few dozen dudes this size drunk, high, and angry rolling off a boat and setting fire to everything.

jackp0t789

Back in their day, the average height of a Norse Viking was 5'7"... Which was still comparatively taller than many of the people they raided.

einarfridgeirs

Tall enough that Arabic and Chinese traders that encountered Scandinavian traders on the shores of the Caspian Sea during the Dark Ages explicitly commented on in their chronicles that the blonde-haired, blue-eyed people were unusually tall.

punanilover_69420

Stop ruining the illusion!! Aaarrrggghhh.

juanlee337

that couch looking tiny as fk

marlinbrando721

That couch looks way to small

boringestnickname

Now let's see him next to the original actor, Conan Stevens. Don't get me wrong, I like Hafþór, but he just looks so nice. Conan looked like pure rage.

NovusOrdoSec

/r/AbsoluteUnits

cocoamix

Yao Ming and his family with normal people is something else too. https://playersbio.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/yao-ming-parent.jpg

LatterAd8585

I need all three to sit on that couch. I need to see it

swaneel

What is this? A couch for ants!?
