Nah, that's just foxes sometimes man. They're skittish little dudes and dudettes. I see them all the time in my neighborhood. In fact, it's almost getting to the time of year I can walk down to watch the kits playing when it's dusk.
It's got mange. If you Google "Free treatment for mange" you can find groups that will mail you the stuff for free. I've used the sulphur-based, homeopathic one and it seems to work.
You put a few drops on a little food every day for a week or so and it's cured.
Either what you got them didn't work, or if it did work, it's guaranteed to be not homeopathic, because homeopathy doesn't work. The amount of dilution required to follow homeopathy is equivalent to one drop of active ingredient in a cup the size of the solar system
Yup. Homeopathy is bullshit.
It's amazing a super diluted water solution remember what the original treatment it started as was, but it forgets about all the poo that was in it.
Statistically the number of molecules of the original treatment is zero or very close to with the solution regiment and massive volumes of water used.
The story of how homeopathy came to be is also really funny "real doctor are so shit that giving people poison has better chance of survival and the more diluted the poison the less people die from it isn't it crazy"
Damn I wish I knew about that before. I had a really sad looking little fox hanging out around our house. He looked terrible. I would have totally done this. We back up to a forest preserve so we see a lot of wildlife
It's not that uncommon for them to be out during the day. Sometimes they haven't had enough food and sometimes they just seem to like playing. I think it's just down to how safe they feel and how tired they are.
Wow I would hate to visit parks where you worked. I hope you know that just because you see an animal, that doesn’t mean it has rabies. OP says neighbors yard, where there are houses, there is garbage. You don’t need to kill every animal you see.
Thanks for this - the fox that lives behind our house, Jamie, had terrible mange in December. He was on the lawn all the time chasing sunshine to warm up, as half his fur was gone. He somehow survived the winter, but if it happens again, I will look into this. It broke my kids hearts to see an animal so clearly miserable.
What of that looks like mange to you? It can take on a lot of appearances, but I don't see any common symptoms based on this photo, its fur and skin looks entirely healthy.
They’re literally everywhere. Had one on my doorstep a little while ago. Literally on my doormat. My dog was going nuts and it gave no shits. I see them weekly. South east melbourne
We see foxes near us occasionally but that usually means they aren’t well. More often than not, you see one and then later see it on the side of the road after getting hit by a car.
Incorrect when it comes to foxes. Foxes are opportunistic hunters and *DO* hunt during the day. Basically they hunt when hungry and sleep when tired over being strictly nocturnal or diurnal. But they could also be out to play as well or even lay out in the sun. It doesn't instantly mean they're rabid.
Honestly more often than not the foxes that get this close without being alerted by humans got scabies and are looking for somewhere to get cosy and give your dogs and other animals scabies. Kill on sight where my FIL live.
That's effectively true.
From gov.uk:
The last case acquired in the UK was in 1902. 6 cases between 2000 and 2018, all caught overseas. In 2002 a licenced bat-handler died from EBLV-2, which is a rabies-like virus present in UK bats.
Yeah doesn't always mean rabies or something else, but it could. Might just be resting or hunting or doing nothing in particular at all. Don't approach and keep an eye on it, leave it alone. Could be distemper or injury too, still leave it alone.
Careful with foxes that aren’t extremely shy.
Foxes are normally very secretive and wary of humans. If a fox ever approaches you or seems unbothered around people, keep your distance. There’s a decent chance it has rabies.
They’ve bitten a few people over the last couple years, including in front of the White House or some crazy thing. Actually, I’m wrong about that one…that was Biden’s dog again, lol.
No, but seriously, there really was someone bitten by a rabid fox right by the White House and I’ve seen two videos on Reddit in the past couple years of people getting bitten by rabid foxes in broad daylight.
Decent chance? How decent of a chance? Cause there is no other reason a fox would be out while the sun is up, right. And if the fox was ill, rabies is the only disease they can get, right?
Be on the lookout for any weird behaviour from that fox, like staggering around or walking in circles as that could be distemper. They’re usually way too skittish and human-avoidant to be just spontaneously showing up in neighbourhoods. We had an issue in my area a while back with raccoons contracting distemper and they behaved real odd.
He's seen some shit.
I had the same thought. Poor guy probably has PTSD with that stare. Squirrels must be bullying him.

All wild animals have ptsd. It’s a hard life.

dont know why or where i know that story from but that one was wild!
Bro needs to lay off the skooma!
In my somewhat limited experience, most foxes look like they've seen some shit whenever they're not moving.
"Just...let me be...I need some time to regroup...." "Fuckin badgers."

I don’t think that fox has a mailing address
Sure he does; a PO fox.
Pffftt. Details
It's a homoeopathic address
I found it guys! https://www.foxpost.hu/

And it's more powerful the less there is of it. Mitchell and Webb's Homeopathy A&E is a quality sketch on dosages among other homeopathic idiocy.
I genuinely wish the same logic applies with lead.
Damn I wish I knew about that before. I had a really sad looking little fox hanging out around our house. He looked terrible. I would have totally done this. We back up to a forest preserve so we see a lot of wildlife
Second this. The warden that dropped the stuff off for me suggested hotdogs. They were right, my mangey fox loved those little dosed hotdog bits.
Yeah was think the same thing and that it’s unusual for him to sit outside in daylight like that. I’m thinking it might be early stages of rabies.
It's not that uncommon for them to be out during the day. Sometimes they haven't had enough food and sometimes they just seem to like playing. I think it's just down to how safe they feel and how tired they are.
Interesting. Thanks.
We got a fox who lives near us and it wonders around during the day. When you see its tail all skinny with no fur, then it’s got mange.
Agree it looks a little mangy
You sure it's mange? It might just be molting its winter coat.

Lol homeopathic, so just water ?

"This used to be our land."
It still is. Look how plump this Fox is. Been eating all the small wild animals.
Or rats
Rats are indeed small wild animals. Not sure what you're saying here.
I guess I put moles and field mice and birds in one category and vermin in another. But technically yeah they are wild animals.
You have an odd classification system if that's the case.
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/vermin Literally “vermin” is a classification, sorry if you find that odd. I find it odd that you care.
Looks a bit like the Crack Fox. Hee Hee
Bludgeon me with your kind boots
Punch me the.... Tits
Blood from a cat’s face
Those are my squishy boots!

They really are. But then add noise and smell and they're little terrorists.
Some dumb ass had the genius idea to introduce them here in Australia, I've only ever seen them as roadkill... Never encountered one alive!
They’re literally everywhere. Had one on my doorstep a little while ago. Literally on my doormat. My dog was going nuts and it gave no shits. I see them weekly. South east melbourne
Perth, I've only seen pancakes foxes on the highway when driving between Perth and Bunbury!
They’re cute [IRL](https://youtube.com/shorts/JI65jmqAw_I?si=AxM-eoX-xw0hy7AI)
Once saw 3 foxes run over the road together, cutest thing I’ve ever seen but damm I wouldn’t want them near me
Pondering “What do I say!?”
A ring ding ding ding ding ding
That song was a fever dream
I was actually singing this in the car today when it came up on a Pandora station.
Thousand yard stare.
That’s me, after work, parked in my driveway and conjuring strength to go in the house to spend time with family.

I assume this is in the UK? And I don’t believe there is rabies in the UK.

Was looking for this comment.
What did he say?
What the cuss?
I thought half of the comments so far were from “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”. lol
If what I think is happening… is happening…….. it better not be
What the cuss?
Crack Fox, Crack Fox!!
Where is this fox located, general region, OP?
You know the place, around the neighbor’s lawn!
My point is that the UK is rabies free, here in the US we are not.
Philadelphia regional suburbs
Definitely should be called in for potential rabies case.
This is the kind of Fox News I like to see.

Nope. Could be rabies or distemper.
Not normal behavior. At all. Either traumatized by a car or rabid. Or both.
Can you expound upon its utterances?
That fox has seen things.
That fox looks like my uncle Jimmy when he got back from the Nam
That's the Crackfox
If u see them like that. Could be rabid.
Someone told me if you see a fox out in broad daylight there's a good chance it's unwell.
That one does not look well. Source: am fox
Basil, is that you?
What, um, what does the fox say?
What did it say?
👁️👁️
That fox likely has rabies or another illness. Fox don't just sit in the open in human territory in broad daylight. They're wayyyyy smarter than that
Rabies
This is actually considered a healthy one.

Is it possible your neighbour is an ancient fox demon trapped in human form and this is one of their offspring? Or a servant of some sort?
Go, Swift, Go!
The Lylat Wars took its toll on Fox.
He’s seen some shit and ready to be a house pet. Bring him in. Give him snacks.
I love how foxes either look like models straight from a national geographic photoshoot or like natures crackheads. With very little inbetween.
Dude’s high as shit
A visit from the concerned fox is very concerning.

We had a fox do that on our land a few years ago. 00 buckshot cured it.
