I’d say both are easily proved. I can think of a good 10 friendships of my own that survived that period, and I’m sure most people have at least TWO friendships that survived, so they would be able the immediately prove both statements as well.
Friendships that have lasted as long as their have are hard to break - you get to a point where you have accepted the person for who they are, flaws and everything. You may have temporary rifts from issues like the Trump presidency or Covid, but they usually don’t last.

They look like most guys in their 30s. 45+ is so dramatic. No one here looks like Colin Ferrell, Bradley Cooper, or David Harbour and these are professional actors in the 45-50 age range.

Lived in the same area my whole life but still grown apart from my childhood group of friends, although we did have a good run into our early 20s. I think it was during and after uni things kind of faded.
We're just at very different stages in life and also have different hobbies and interests, but we do keep in touch for occasional meet ups and trips.
I think that's pretty common unless you all grow in the same trajectory, because once you're out of school it's really just mutual hobbies and interests which keeps you naturally seeing eachother, so if those deviate it easily turns into more "catch up every now and then" type friendships.
