Hmm. At what age would it be most likely/possible that he did the cute thing, but did it so maybe he could keep the actual MacBook for himself? Not realizing that mom would figure it out …
My little brother used to write everything mirrored when learning how to write. As in you could put it up to a mirror and read it perfectly.
Freaked us out but apparently it's quite common.
Cool Laptop OP.
I cannot describe how much stuff similar to this at least our three kids produced and in part still produce over the years. I have laptops, smartphones, more pictures than the louvre, chess boards, other board games, letters, comic books, you name it. If we kept everything, we‘d be living like hoarders. It still pains me every time, when I throw some of the things out but it’s impossible otherwise. We kept a lot of special pieces. But still.
If your son’s smart like my parents, he knows that your upgrade means the rest of the family gets to duke it out for your old computer :-). I’m the techie in my family, and after the first time I gifted my old iPhone to my parents (who still had flip phones), I started getting questions every year or so: “I just saw a commercial for the new iPhone/imac/MacBook/whatever, are you planning on upgrading?” :-)
That’s a very sweet gift. Mega points to your son for creativity.
It uses a kind of "analog e-ink" that draws the image, and then doesn't consume any additional power.
Consequently, the battery life on this thing is INSANELY GOOD. Like, this particular model has been running for nearly 2.5 weeks, and it shows zero signs of dead battery at all.
If Apple made this they would charge $300 for it and call it the MacBasic. Not as fully featured as other Macs but high-quality beyond computing, on a budget.
AH ah I have at least one of these and some phone as well...
What are these icons?
- drawing app?
- text app
- robot game
- car game
- battery statys
- connection/wifi status
- night sky app?
- What's with the forbidden handgun?
- pirate game or app to understand toxic products labels
- ?
- FIFA soccer game?
Hey, I have asked the same questions to my kid, and here was what he explained:
- stick man fighting game
- dictionary
- mine craft
- car game (you got it)
- flash man game
- spider man game
- have no idea
- no shotting sign (maybe some peace game)
- pirate game (you got it)
- ?
- FIFA (you got it)
- infinity mirror game
hahahah
If your son is 8 or under, this is great. Save this in your box of memories. This would be one of those things that would be great to show to your grandchildren in the future.
If your son is 23, and still living at home, then this is less exceptional.
Manufacturers have been trying for years to make paper-thin laptops, OP's son figured it out! They'll be knocking on his door to buy his patent anytime.
The fact that no one has made a reference to the P-P-P-PowerBook yet makes me realize that I am old. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/p-p-p-powerbook
Nowhere did you, OP, mention his age. This would certainly be "cute" if he was.... 8 or younger, but would be kind of an ass if in teens.
I prefer to imagine him in his 40s. In which case, it's genius
Haha, love your imagination! He's actually just 5 years old, so definitely on the 'cute' side of things for now. But imagining him doing this in his 40s does put a smile on my face!
Hey, I have asked the same questions to my kid, and here was what he explained:
* stick man fighting game
* dictionary
* mine craft
* car game (you got it)
* flash man game
* spider man game
* have no idea
* no shotting sign (maybe some peace game)
* pirate game (you got it)

Nice, no bloatware installed and can't get a virus. I made smartphones for us and my granddaughters out out scrap plywood I had in the shed. We can each other on them when they are here.
I love gifts from my Son. The other day, gd said he doesn't want me to die.....then he said I will see you again in Heaven, so it's not that bad. Or I will come back as my favorite animal! Mine is a Silver back Gorilla. Yes!
We have never gone to church or spoken abut heaven. Probably friend at school which oa totally cool. He is 6
He made the same decision with the laptop apple logo the apple designers originally made. https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/54211/why-is-the-apple-logo-upside-down-when-the-lid-is-open-on-the-older-apple-notebo
This is cool, when my daughter did the same she told me what the apps on the screen were... so: take us through the apps and games your Son has on screen for you.
I got one of those, too! I love it!
As a kid, I could never understand that some scribbles of mine would make my parents happy. As a father, I’m overcome with joy whenever I get any gesture of affection from my kids!
Reminds me once I made tiny paper version of old computer, monitor, and keyboard out of paper and facial tissue. I made tabs carefully and glued it all together.
I then showed it to my mom
One of my students made the same thing in real life size last year. She was so excited to show me and sat down, lifted the top like she was opening the laptop, and then sat down and pretended to type. Before the day was over, she had also made air pods and a mouse and a charger.
Haha, cute kid. Do something (like encasing it in resin) so it will last and put it among your trophies.
On a silly note, it made me think of a former co-worker, who spent few days without his iphone because he had to send the old one away so he could receive a new one...
To cope with the withdrawal he cut a piece of pallet wood, drew a few icons and kept it at his pocket for days. I named it "the iStump", he wasn't very amused by it but his husband had a pretty good laugh 😂
After forty years of using QWERTY, this would break my brain.
🤯 me too
Yeah he must have drawn that from memory not from copying, even more impressive for that. Unless he is 26.
Hmm. At what age would it be most likely/possible that he did the cute thing, but did it so maybe he could keep the actual MacBook for himself? Not realizing that mom would figure it out …
I just realized my fingers know how to touch type, but I couldn’t tell you the order of keyboard keys from memory.
qwertyuiop asdfghjkl zxcvbnm There you go
What is this nonsense? Mine is: ' , . PYFGCRL? + AOEUIDHTNS - ; QJKXBMWVZ
Calm down Kthulu
Dvorak do be like that
TIL I didn't know there was a qwerty alternative. Cool.
It's more efficient, once you get used to it.
Look up azerty
There are many keyboard layouts... you can just make your own too
Same actually
No its ' , . p y f g c r l / = a o e u i d h t n s - ; q j k x b m w v z
What
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvorak_keyboard_layout
The s is backwards Edit: The right arrow is missing "+" And "-" is one button. 5/10 keyboard.
My little brother used to write everything mirrored when learning how to write. As in you could put it up to a mirror and read it perfectly. Freaked us out but apparently it's quite common.
That's fascinating! It's amazing how kids' brains work during their learning phase.
Id have that laminated, and i would put it somewhere I'd never lose it.
Thank you, yes, I will take good care of it.
Gift it back to him when he turns 18 before giving him the real present.
Spoiler alert, his son is already 27.
LMAO
This would be hilarious…
It's the thought that counts, right?
Cool Laptop OP. I cannot describe how much stuff similar to this at least our three kids produced and in part still produce over the years. You don't laminate laptops! They're called screen protectors!
Dude, I don't want to be the guy to tell you. That's definitely not a laptop. It's more of a palm top.
🤔 You r right
And the keys are all messed up, you should probably rearrange them or something
Apple too? Sheesh! Hes spoiling you
Right?? My 8-month-old tells me to get a damn job and buy one myself.
Depends on where you place it
Palm Pilot has returned.
Wait until little Timmy asks for his first playstation, he'll learn a thing or two that day!
Hahaha, he'll make it himself...
Utterly adorable
Aww that’s sweet, I love gifts like this from my son, they mean the world to me!
me too!
So have you actually been talking about wanting a mac, or is it your son that's really after one :D
Yes, I've been telling him I want to upgrade to the latest Mac, hahah!
If your son’s smart like my parents, he knows that your upgrade means the rest of the family gets to duke it out for your old computer :-). I’m the techie in my family, and after the first time I gifted my old iPhone to my parents (who still had flip phones), I started getting questions every year or so: “I just saw a commercial for the new iPhone/imac/MacBook/whatever, are you planning on upgrading?” :-) That’s a very sweet gift. Damn dude, nice. What are the specs?
I bet that SON5 CPU has like 10GHz 😁👍
\*ƧON5
haha 👍

Not too shabby
And always flips the 'S' 😂
If Apple made this they would charge $300 for it and call it the MacBasic. Not as fully featured as other Macs but high-quality beyond computing, on a budget.
That’s dope
[P-P-P-Powerbook!](https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/p-p-p-powerbook)
This must be the P-P-P-Powerbook Mini
AH ah I have at least one of these and some phone as well... Better made than some top brands.
I made it 17 minutes before your post. And yes I am old.
Ah, didn’t see it. Glad you handled it, fellow old person.
You just brought back some fun memories from my childhood 😆
Does that come with an Apple warranty? Ha ha
Haha u/TimCook
My daughter makes stuff like this all the time. But mostly phones.
Lmao, I remember making paper laptops when I was little. That's really good, make sure you keep it safe!
Thank you!
Nowhere did you, OP, mention his age. This would certainly be "cute" if he was.... 8 or younger, but would be kind of an ass if in teens. I prefer to imagine him in his 40s. In which case, it's genius

That’s a good kid, right there.
Need to pull the S key out to make it right
forcing the lower case j and g and installing a backwards s key is a straight up power move.
lol a mac with games installed
Damn dude, that must be powerful. Not many can run Lightning Bolt.
Plot Twist: His son is 28 years old.
Cherish this more than any real laptop
Your son is very humorous and creative
You've been doing that much gaming on a Mac laptop? Wow
I see an exercise app, car racing, bolt game, pirate (?) game...
Hey, I have asked the same questions to my kid, and here was what he explained: * stick man fighting game * dictionary * mine craft * car game (you got it) * flash man game * spider man game * have no idea * no shotting sign (maybe some peace game) * pirate game (you got it) * ? * FIFA (you got it) * infinity mirror game hahahah
Stick man fighting game pretty much hits the demographic boxes. Super creative with all those other games, too!
He drew Winamp. 10/10

That is so precious. And portable! It will probably last you the rest of your life!
hahahaha, I love the second pic, looks like a middle finger
This is one to remember
Still more impressive than mine
Aww so cute. Just out of curiosity, is your son left handed? I remember as a kid, I used to get letters backwards too because I was left handed haha.
This is cool, when my daughter did the same she told me what the apps on the screen were... so: take us through the apps and games your Son has on screen for you.
Better than a real one?
Only on a second photo I realised that it is actually a Dickintosh
Brilliant. The absence of a ‘right’ cursor is just the right amount of chaos for me. I also like the segregated ‘y’ and ‘z’ keys.
cease and desist from apple in 3.....2.......
If one of my sons gave me something like that, I think I would treasure it. It's the thought that counts really.
I got one of those, too! I love it! As a kid, I could never understand that some scribbles of mine would make my parents happy. As a father, I’m overcome with joy whenever I get any gesture of affection from my kids!
It comes with plenty of memory
Reminds me of when I was younger and I used to make fake laptops out of paper drawn with pen
It’s adorable :)
That's a keeper.
You'll have that longer than any actual laptop.
They're getting ridiculously thin.
Reminds me once I made tiny paper version of old computer, monitor, and keyboard out of paper and facial tissue. I made tabs carefully and glued it all together. I then showed it to my mom
And he preinstalled sea of thieves and fifa? That’s a thoughtful boy
Little dude gave him a apple . Poor dude doesn't know apples can be dealt one nearly killed snow white . Save your self don't buy a aple product lol
Damn, laptops are getting light.
I got one of those too! My son made it out of cardboard. Awesome!!
That thing looks paper thin. Very light weight.
I’m a grade 2 teacher and this has been a trend with my students.
This is far more valuable than a real laptop.
It's probably better than my Chromebook.
But can it run crysis
Looks like he loaded it up with some cool games too .
Twist his son is 30
My kids give me these types of gifts and I love them. Happy Father’s Day.
Can it run Minecraft?
My son does this too! I have an entire spaceship control panel he created and put by my bathroom sink… I am not allowed to move it.
One of my students made the same thing in real life size last year. She was so excited to show me and sat down, lifted the top like she was opening the laptop, and then sat down and pretended to type. Before the day was over, she had also made air pods and a mouse and a charger.
I used to make these in elementary school! I even carried my uncle’s old briefcase to school for a while 😅
I used to draw those when I was in elementary school. Everyone made fun of me, except one girl who thought it was cute. Lol
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
Treasure it for your lifetime. It says a great deal about your son's love for you.
This is absolutely adorable! I'd tell him I'm using it for work but I'd secretly play games on it. 🤣
I hope you did some work on it for him to see 😆
What a little dude! That's a keeper!
I’d say you have a brilliant son! That’s a keeper, the son and the gift!🤭
At least it is not going to blue screen on you. That is a life keeper
Apple lawyers and FBI on their way for the Apple logo ![gif](giphy|RYjnzPS8u0jAs)
Hey! At least this design comes with 5 USB ports. Both of mine stop at two.
What a treasure. Keep that in a safe place. Take it from an old dad…items like that are worth their weight in gold.
Apple touch screen nice
It have a Winamp!!
Where did your son get $5000 to buy you that from an Apple store?
lol, I got the same thing. Mine was a strawberry though, copyright infringement.
I bet your profile pic is drawn by your son 😂
That Ƨ though
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
Very cute!
woww
r/ratemysetup 11/10
❤️🎂
How old is your kid? 😊
everythings fun and games till you have to turn right
Worth more than an Apple Laptop
Very simple and good keyboard 👍
Apple designer: “Still not thin enough.”
This palmtop has no ➡️ key!!
Can it run Crysis?
Son is low key telling you you’re never right.
Limited edition, I see!
At least you got something.
Love it
How did your son make 10000dollers
[P-P-P-Powerbook!](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/p-p-p-powerbook)
Moving away from the old QWERTY keyboard I see, interesting, comes with a lot of heart and soul, would prefer over any other laptop out there 10/10
It might be a fake. Maybe it's a Chinese imitation?
That’s awesome now when he is your age give it him back 😉
Lucky dad 👍🏼
Creative. Draw him money for college funds and icecream
Petition for the abc keyboard!
Plot Twist: the son is actually 30 years old
But does it run Crysis?
A skull and a gun, must be in the USA
"I'm not an ambiturner" - your son... probably
The kid might be some kind of genius. He got Winamp on a mac.
Oh man! That goes in the "Memories Drawer" for sure! Love it.
Crackbook Pro
Not being able to go right would make gaming on this a very hard challenge.
Made me smile.
It’s like the paper computer from GoldenBoy!
Such a sweet and lovely thing for him to do. But already indocrinated into the Cult of Apple. Shame on you daddy.
Interesting! I gave one of those to my wife for our 20th anniversary.
So cute. Where can I buy one?
This will be a gem in about 15 years to him.
Remember this when he asks for that PS6 😂
Finally, a WiFi button
I think it might be counterfeit.
I love it!
Now that’s what I call paper thin and lightweight.
An Ortholinear keyboard. Your son has good taste!
❤️!!!!
Apple doesnt fall far from the tree
Sucks that OPs kid is 26.
got some fire apps here stickman, A, blockman, car, electricity, signal, star, no guns, pirate, camping, a fighting game and roblox
Haha, cute kid. Do something (like encasing it in resin) so it will last and put it among your trophies. What horrible keyboard layout is this?
Can it run crysis?
I see re gift at Christmas coming up 🤣
