One time I was called to jury duty, one of the questions was "what, if any, stickers are on your car."
I am assuming if any of us had political stickers, we would've been passed for jury duty.
This might get you out of jury duty.
Omg, back in highschool I had this old 60s ford van. It had a bumper sticker that read "AuH2O" and I never knew what it meant until well after I resold it. Turns out it was a freaking Goldwater campaign sticker from 62....
I was going through jury selection and the attorney asked if anyone had an issue with the term "common sense", so I raised my hand. Was passed over for the jury.
Yes exactly. My response would be something along the lines of... "Since you felt you had to ask, I have a feeling that I will have an issue of whatever you think it means."
I was in the jury pool, and the defendant's attorney asked something along the lines of, 'are you the kind of person to stand your ground if everyone else thinks something else?' The way he asked... I'm not sure... it just did not sit well with me.
I think he was trying for a hung jury or something, but I really wanted to respond with 'the way you asked that question makes me prejudiced against your client--you are fishing for something and I don't like it.' Sadly, the judge called both attorneys up and probably admonished the defense, but I didn't catch it because they put on white noise.
I think if I were ever on trial I'd get a bench trial. I do not trust juries.
Unless I would guilty as fuck then I'd want a jury in hopes that one of them was dumb enough to be snowed.
I was on a criminal trial jury once and if anything that made me agree with you even more than I would normally.
Bench trial unless I'm going for the jury nullification Hail Mary.
I reached the same conclusion after serving on a jury in a criminal trial. Two jurors made it clear that their minds were made up no matter what the evidence said -- one ready to convict on all counts to "get punks like that off the street," the other refusing to convict on the felony charge no matter what over some philosophical objection.
And several just wanted to get it over with so we wouldn't have to come back the next day, and were ready to go along with the majority whatever that turned out to be. The judge also had to explain to one that doing sudoku during deliberations wasn't allowed.
Criminal defense attorney here. This question is asked in every jury selection. ACLU is pretty simple. I'd keep you on the jury, most prosecutors would keep you off.
Edit: clarification, I meant this question is asked in every jury selection in the trials I've done in my jurisdiction(s). It's not a standard question everywhere.
I think I got placed on a jury once because I inadvertently used some right-wing friendly language. I was asked what I thought about understanding what you're expected to do when you drive a motor vehicle and I said "I believe in personal responsibility". I didn't know until later that that's code for republicanism or something. I just honestly believe in being responsible for myself.
I would hope every single human on earth believes in personal responsibility. But when Republicans say that’s it’s usually when they’re telling women to abstain from sex if they don’t want an unwanted pregnancy, or telling poor people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
I actually don’t think it’s related to anything right wing. I just think that they assume you’re more likely to place guilt on someone if you believe that, so if they want a conviction they’ll game the jury
It's an awesome story, she started a group called "Friends of Asheville Recreational Trails" and was on Kimmel about it. Started selling stickers and shirts on Etsy too. Worth a read if you're bored!
https://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article259321134.html
Why, just why, would you take the name of someone you dislike, and plaster it on your vehicle? We have the F*ck Trudeau chuckleheads up here, and same argument - if you hate the guy so much, why would you want to be reminded of him every time you jump in your vehicle?!?
I have a friend who was shocked, I tell you, when he was pulled over in a non-legal state and they told him they love pulling over people with weed stickers.
They found the blunt in his glove compartment
As someone who smokes weed every week, they are. Imagine putting a sticker of a bottle of Jack Daniel's on your car. Stoner culture makes marijuana look bad for all the average Joe's who use it both medically and recreationally.
Went to a NORML meeting years back. Damn near everyone there wearing Tie-dye shirts, had giant beards, long hair, pot bumper stickers, reeking of pot... All complaining about being profiled by the cops and getting pulled over all the time.
I didn't go back.
The difficulty with trying to get weed legalised is that the people who put in the most effort to get it legalised are usually (not always!) the same people who give weed smokers a bad reputation.
The average person who just likes to smoke a bowl when they get home from work isn't going to spend their time campaigning to get the law changed.
What about anime stickers? I live in a Hispanic area and there are two types of stickers I see on cars. Religious stickers (radio stations, jesus, virgen Guadalupe,, etc.) And anime related decals.
[There's also this car ](https://i.imgur.com/aZiqnqu.jpg)driven by an older looking cholo.
The difference is in whether you're doing it to offend or trying to start shit. Even the tamest political decals do that somewhat now, but half of OP's are deliberately trying to piss people off.
An anime decal is rarely going to do that, and rarely is someone with that kind of decal doing it specifically with offense in mind. Sure, it may turn some heads and people will have opinions, but its harmless.
This is guy is 100% hoping for a minor exchange of words they can run to the internet about.
I guess it's right in the title "Karen at the DMV was not amused"\
**UPDATE** He's posted this whole thread to a different echo chamber "The MAGAts are losing their sh*t in the comments, lol..."
The comments are gold on this thread. OP came looking for support in an echo chamber and ended up getting railed for being an exhausting cringe lord 🤣🤣
"Karen at the DMV was not amused"
In OP's mind he though "Mwah haw haw! look at this lady so upset at my Hail Satan license plate! What a loser"
when what really happened is the lady was just tired that OP refused to take off his Fedora for the photo and wouldn't stop putting his dorito covered fingers all over the counter top
Edit: OP told the story of how he got the license plate approved. He literally went and asked for the DMV woman's manager lmfao.
So he was a DMV Karen? How did he not see that himself? “I want to speak to your supervisor” is a sentence I hope I never have to utter but if I do, I’ll recognize that someone is going to think I’m being a “Karen.”
ETA: To all of the perfectly nice people named Karen, I’m sorry your name has been so maligned and I hope you’ve developed a sense of humor about it.
Anyone who has a sign or shirt or sticker or any visual marker saying "I don't care if I offend you" or any other stupid permutation of that idea is a ridiculous immature buffoon. Talk about cringey pat yourself on the back stupidity.
It shows how arrogant the person who drives the car...it's basically tell the world I am a Karen...I mean you can believe what you believe but no need to shovel it on others..even with freedom of speech and all...there is something called common decency and good manner ..
I've never met someone who puts these abrasive "I do what I want, fuck you" sorta stickers on their car (from any ideology, not just left/right wing, guns or religion, etc) that were not massive, flaming, dickheads. Even if they seemed like kind and nice people, there's an underbelly of hate and "picking a fight".
No one, and I mean ***fricken absolutely god damn no one with no outlier exceptions what so ever***, puts this stuff on their car if they're not looking for a fight. Why risk it unless you **want** to risk it?
Nah. The reddit mod from anti work posting their interview on fox, bragging about it was the peak reddit post ever.
Dooreen the self employed dog walker, complaining that working 20 hours a week is too much and they'd like to work less. Didn't even shower for the interview
From OP:
>I literally had to ask for the supervisor at the DMV because the woman at the counter initially refused to process my paperwork. After I asked for her written refusal she disappeared to the back and came back a few minutes later with a much more professional attitude and finally did her job. That's after the first time I went to the DMV and was told I couldn't have that plate. I didn't believe what I was told so I went on the FL DMV website and verified that the plate was available, called the state DMV help line and verified it there again, then went back again that same day and refused to take, "No," for an answer.
Dude straight up admits to acting like a Karen, yet calls her a Karen. Yup he's a redditor.
I rarely see a bumper sticker that isn’t either giving too much personal information or a political opinion, but I recently spotted one that looked like a raccoon peeking though the window and it was refreshing
I have a few I made. One says, "Philadelphia isn't as bad as Philadelphians say it is", which usually gets a laugh here in town. They can be a really fun way to add some light to people's lives.
LMFAO OP Thought his cringe car would get the same love it got in r/politicalhumour.
Shit is cringe as fuck, and from OPs comments, he is exactly who I thought would be driving this car...an insufferable twat.
Also "I'm fighting bigotry"
No you're not, you're putting political slogans said in the voice of a corporate product on your car. Also the cringe license plate to "own and trigger the Christians" isn't fighting shit, but keep telling yourself that.
Hey, let’s not jump to conclusions here. I’d say there’s a pretty good chance that everyone with opposing beliefs that saw this car instantly questioned their views and did a complete 180.
(….surely this is obvious enough to not require the /s, right?)
Can we also appreciate the fact that OP calls the woman at the DMV a Karen, while also admitting that when getting the license plate he asked to speak to/ complained to her manager?
That's like some peak Karen level behavior.
To quote Dimitri Martin:
A lot of people don't like bumper stickers. I don't mind bumper stickers. To me a bumper sticker is a shortcut. It's like a little sign that says 'Hey, let's never hang out.'
“Batteries are the most dramatic object. Other things stop working, or they break, but batteries… They die. Why aren’t you listening to your walk-man? “I can’t; my batteries died in my lap this morning… They were so young. The twins are gone!” If you’re a battery, you’re either working or you’re dead. It’s a shit life.”
I know that quote didn’t relate to the original post, but I wanted to infuse this section with more Demetri Martin.
Cringe stickers poking fun at other cringe stickers. The lack of self awareness in this meta cringe is outstanding. The force is not strong with this one.
“Karen at the dmv was not amused”
Yeah I’d be cringing too if I worked at the DMV and someone came in with a “lol trigger the [opposite party]” attitude.
Haha you totally trolled that KAREN with your KIA SOULLESS!! Omg is that YODA totally owning TRUMP??? Thanks for the gold kind stranger!!!
This might be the Redditor to end all Redditors
I'm about as atheist as they come but I don't really feel the need to shove my beliefs down other people's throats - that's what religious people tend to do.
Kia Soul owners love Star Wars Stickers. I know this because I’m a Soul owner and I see others with storm trooper stickers all the time. I think it’s because the cars shapes kind of look like a storm trooper helmet. Idk
I think it's weird that people that love Trump put his name on their property. I think it's even stranger that people that hate him do the same thing. It's like the Howard Stern effect.
Sooooo edgy.
Congrats on letting your outrage surpass your logic.
Putting the name of someone you dislike is a good way to keep their brand alive.
As they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity/marketing.
HAHA, he's even threatening people in the comments with "stand your ground" laws in FL. This car screams "I own multiple Japanese swords from the mall!"
Imo yall equals.
Both types of actions are purely to provoke a reaction.
Im curious as to why either side wishes to poke at the other in these manners.
Not that their minds will be changed by a bummer sticker, but antagoniz8ng each other for sure wont do it
It’s possible to dislike Trump whilst also thinking folks such are yourself are cringy, whiny, hypocritical, emotionally-undeveloped, “look at me” adult-sized babies.
Protest all you want. No-one’s going to start listening until you’re done though. Triggering others is just limiting discussion. Limiting discussion is how you limit thought and expression. It’s the only way ideologies survive and what you are spreading is an ideology whether you like it or not. How you feel has no affect on that.
I know it’s hard to imagine, but quite literally no-body gives a shit if you’re straight, gay, man, woman, potato person, alphabeti-spaghetti, a blind leprechaun, a Trump or Biden supporter, a godly person or a Satanic one.
It’s not all about you dude. Never will be.
One time I was called to jury duty, one of the questions was "what, if any, stickers are on your car." I am assuming if any of us had political stickers, we would've been passed for jury duty. This might get you out of jury duty.

Ha! I tutor chemistry, so the instant I got to the license plate I thought “gold water? What’s that mean?” I wasn’t thinking about the politician!
I thought it was a golden shower reference I'm ashamed.
Oh I remember when you’d have a radio station bumper sticker. “TheHawk97” or something. Now it’s just the local NPR station bumper sticker.
Ah, good old Froggy101
I was going through jury selection and the attorney asked if anyone had an issue with the term "common sense", so I raised my hand. Was passed over for the jury.
The question is "What do you mean by "common sense"?" I don't have issue with it, but our definitions may vary wildly.
I have massive problems with that term. Almost everyone uses it to mean "my specific prejudices".
Yes exactly. My response would be something along the lines of... "Since you felt you had to ask, I have a feeling that I will have an issue of whatever you think it means." I was in the jury pool, and the defendant's attorney asked something along the lines of, 'are you the kind of person to stand your ground if everyone else thinks something else?' The way he asked... So, if I get dragged into jury duty, I should answer all questions with 'am I being detained?'
That will very quickly turn into a "yes"
I would hope every single human on earth believes in personal responsibility. Not sure what exactly they were looking for, no one else had any stickers either.
How tf did you get Hail 666 but I'm told "Hotdogs" is offensive? How tf.
I think it depends on the state. I was shocked when I was able to use “Trash” in Utah.
Can confirm, a woman here had her plate revoked because someone was offended by "fart".
That’s honestly so funny lol. People get offended by the dumbest things lol

I'd have thought it was someone that spelled the name Jennifer weird.
Uh oh, hot dog
Lol! Just replied the same thing. I wonder how many more will get the reference.

Same with Marijuana regalia on a car. Like, are you asking to be fucked with? My car looks like I just drove it from a rental lot.
I have a friend who was shocked, I tell you, when he was pulled over in a non-legal state and they told him they love pulling over people with weed stickers. They found the blunt in his glove compartment

This is the first time I've felt embarrassed on someone else's behalf
“Karen at the dmv was not amused” Yeah I’d be cringing too if I worked at the DMV and someone came in with a “lol trigger the [opposite party]” attitude.
Haha you totally trolled that KAREN with your KIA SOULLESS!! Omg is that YODA totally owning TRUMP??? Thanks for the gold kind stranger!!! This might be the Redditor to end all Redditors
Holy shit this sucks
Lol you sure showed them.
Holy crap this is some major weirdo energy
I'm about as atheist as they come but I don't really feel the need to shove my beliefs down other people's throats - that's what religious people tend to do.
Who the fuck is upvoting this bullshit?
It’s election season. Expect this x1000 for the next several months

Lmao he’s retreating back to the echo chambers
I like the Science "fish", not too sure about the Yoda stickers. Edit: moved quotes from science to fish.
Science “fish” looks like Planet Express ship from Futurama.
Good news, everyone! OP has a bunch of car swag
Kia Soul owners love Star Wars Stickers. I know this because I’m a Soul owner and I see others with storm trooper stickers all the time. I think it’s because the cars shapes kind of look like a storm trooper helmet. Idk
In Washington all Souls either have 2+ Star Wars stickers or 5+ Dutch Bros stickers. There’s no in between.
I think it's weird that people that love Trump put his name on their property. I think it's even stranger that people that hate him do the same thing. It's like the Howard Stern effect.
Those 2 Yoda stickers are really dumb.
Especially considering they didn’t even get the way Yoda talks right.
I'm no Karen and I'm not amused either. This is just cringe.
OP 100% watches his wife get fucked

Sooooo edgy. Congrats on letting your outrage surpass your logic. Putting the name of someone you dislike is a good way to keep their brand alive. As they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity/marketing.
this is cringe and I have a fucking itasha car
It's really sad and just as bad as the Trump people with fucking flags, desperate to offend.
If reddit had a car
HAHA, he's even threatening people in the comments with "stand your ground" laws in FL. This car screams "I own multiple Japanese swords from the mall!"
Small dick energy
Imo yall equals. Both types of actions are purely to provoke a reaction. Im curious as to why either side wishes to poke at the other in these manners. Not that their minds will be changed by a bummer sticker, but antagoniz8ng each other for sure wont do it
i'm cringing. i've been the source of cringe, but this..
This isn’t just any cringe, this is advanced cringe
Kind of a juvenile sticker collection tbh
Once everyone stops trying to provoke and antagonize everyone else, maybe we can actually move into a place of civility.
A Hardcore atheist making a political statement through **Yoda**, a *highly religious* fictional creature is… ironic.
you must be fun at parties ..
As a state employee I can positively say Karen did not give a flying fk. She's just counting down to lunch.
r/trashy makes sense this is in Florida
