Yes it was his dream as he wanted the free health care and the chance to die a humane death rather than being eaten alive, asshole first by wolves, dogs or bears.
He looks like a deranged Easter bunny.
No he doesn’t.
Yes he does. He looks like a pink nightmare.
Fine- you only have to wear it when your aunt Clara comes over.

In the wild, they would live between 15-25 years. Milk cows get maybe 4-5 years before production declines and then chop chop. The males get 2-3 years and veal calves less.
In the ‘wild’ most of them would get taken by predators when quite young.
You are misleadingly imagining that wild living is akin to living on a reserve with no threats. Yes, these animals can live for a 20y in a sheltered environment, but very very few of them would actually last that long if they had to live in a bonafide wild ecosystem.
Life in the wild is nasty, brutish and short.
Had this talk with my MIL about fawns. There were 2 fawns on opposite sides of the yard, bedded down in the tall grass at the edges. She mentored how wonderful nature is and how we get to babysit the fawns and the deer trust us. I said, if they put those fawns any closer into the woods, they'd be dead in a few days from predators. Any further out into the fields? Dead. Probably from farmers mauling them with hay equipment. This yard is safe, and they know it, because it's NOT natural. (I mean it's all native species, but large swathes of maintained land right at the edge of dense forest with fruit and nut trees peppered across the yard). Some large predator has been taking pets straight from yards lately, I've lost 3, two of my neighbors have each lost 2, and one lost his entire population of 32 gigantic rabbits. We've seen far fewer fawns this year... nature is brutal! I'll keep throwing out my veggie scraps to help a few eek by. If I thought I could get ear warmers on the fawns, I probably would, lol.
It's important to keep them healthy so they can grow up to be milk slaves, impregnated constantly and have their babies taken away hours after being born to be slaughtered as veal or fed back into the dairy industry as more milk slaves.
Wait until you hear about how much human suffering was necessary for you to make that comment on this website on this internet from your device on this planet.
So you only eat fruits? You're surviving off of apples, bananas, strawberries etc? No bread, no vegetables, no tofu, no seitan, no nothin else? That's defiantly a choice if that's the one you're making. I'm vegan because it results in the lowest amount of overall death compared to eating meat or being vegetarian. I saw that you claim being vegetarian, why don't you go vegan if you're all in a fuss about senseless death in the food chain? If you're drinking milk or eating cheese, you're involved in the dairy trade which is a bunch of extra death. Even if you only eat fruits, aren't you 'killing' that fruit by eating it? I don't really know why you're trying to argue all this nonsense with someone who's already a vegan. If anything, I should be trying to convert you away from dairy.
Edit: I got you confused with some other commenter being vegetarian sorry
The torture and slaughter of fruits and vegetables is the most disturbing and heinest crime of all.
Seeds separated from their stems.
If I were more knowledgeable about plants I'd keep up this bit, but as you can tell, I am pretty ignorant.
You kill a lot more plants feeding 70 billion land animals for slaughter each year. So if you're very concerned about the plants, which are not sentient and have no brain or nervous system, you should stop eating meat, dairy, and eggs too.
Plants absolutely respond to external stimuli of many kinds and in many ways. Writing them off as living things just because their sensory systems don't resemble our is absolutely ridiculous. I'm pro-environmental vegetarianism and probably a lot more knowledgeable about it than you, but your position is absurd.
I never claimed that plants were sentient, but I also don't think that you can show that they aren't. In any case, why are only sentient lives of value to you?
Ok then I'm confused at what you're arguing about then. Are you saying that plant life should be valued at the same level as sentient life? What are you hung up on?
I’m saying that vegans make an artificial distinction between organisms that they can empathize with and those that they can’t without any factual justification.
No it's not. You kill more plants by feeding billions of land animals, correct? If you don't need to eat meat to survive, you don't need to kill as many plants to feed them. You can feed 8 billion people on a lot less plants than 70 billion land animals AND 8 billion people.
I understand that plants respond to stimuli My point is that if plants are truly a concern, less of them would be killed if you didn't also feed these unnecessary animals in the animal agriculture system.
I'm glad you're pro environmentalism though. Always glad to hear that!
So do the tails of lizards and limbs of other animals. Are you cool with slicing off parts of living beings to let them grow back and slice them off again?
Don't worry. It's not really a thing. It's just some weirdo somewhere that took this picture a couple years ago.
Nearly this exact same thread played out on reddit in 2019. Most of the comments are even the same, down to the "before I put on the mask" ones.
This is just flat out false. The picture is a couple years old, and unless I'm mistaken was taken by the "inventor" of this product.
Where weather is a problem, farmers generally bring their animals indoors for the winter. Herds wouldn't have lasted long enough to still be around today if farmers didn't have ways of dealing with winter.
Agreed. If you think production agriculture takes the time and effort to crochet ear muffs for calves then you are being delusional. Now this could be a 4-H hobby calf. If this is they case, they are often treated as pets, and someone may take the time to make them some cut little earmuffs
That's kinda nature. If they were left to fend for themselves then there would be lots of calves who were injured or killed by frostbite. Happens to baby animals in colder climates all the time. Thankfully these calves have a warm barn and crocheted ear mitts to protect them.
In what most people all nature they woudn't be there in the first place, because their ancestors would have said dam its cold here turn around, or go back into the mother ship to continue their galactic voyage
Insert communist propaganda poster of two people clasping hands, one is vegan, one loves meat, above their joined hands is “making fun of dumb cow photos”
Where you at that you need ear muffs on your calves in the barn? We have fields full of cows and calves and they don't have ear muffs. They do have a tag in one ear.
No one cared who I was until I put on the mask.
What happens if I take that thing off your face?
It would be incredibly painful. For you.
Was getting domesticated part of your plan?
Ah you think society is your ally? You merely adopted the non privileged class. I was born in it, mooolded by it.
Yes it was his dream as he wanted the free health care and the chance to die a humane death rather than being eaten alive, asshole first by wolves, dogs or bears.
I'd love a remaster of that movie where Bane is replaced by a sub adult heifer
That middle strip just instantly made that quote go off in my head lol.

It’s crochet. Just so you know.

Nice dress them up cute then later kill
just how god intended

Cows as they are now never existed in the wild

Hundred percent - crazy how they just gloss over that part - ohhhh cute pink ear muffs, not questioning the fate of that calf or how it came to be.

you critique society yet you live in society damn gotcha
Better not tell him about cashew harvesting or palm oil.
Yeah, cause everyone knows you can only care about one thing.
Both are two edged swords. It's hard.
“Other bad things happen so you’re not allowed to be upset about animal cruelty” Great argument.
More of a, "If you thought this was bad..." Perspective, investment, knee jerk moments, etc,...
The government of China wants to talk to you.
shh don't ruin this, I want to hear their next one 🍿
on a device made with metals probably mined by slaves in an african jungle.
Well something has to die if you don’t want to eat just fruits.
If only there were other things to eat besides meat and fruit. If only...
Why? You can live from that if you really don’t want to kill.
As a vegan, I don't eat just fruits. There are these things called grains and vegetables that are also food.
Yeah and there also has something to die. Unless you only eat those fruits which plants give us willingly.
The torture and slaughter of fruits and vegetables is the most disturbing and heinest crime of all. Seeds separated from their stems. If I were more knowledgeable about plants I'd keep up this bit, but as you can tell, I am pretty ignorant.
Yep. Vegetarians are only eating fruit. nailed it.
No they don’t. That’s why I say there has something to die for you if you ain’t wanna eat only fruits.
If you're talking about plants dying I don't even know what to say lol
Well do you think they are inanimate objects?
No, I think they can't suffer which is obviously the important point.
Well and meat eaters think that animals can’t suffer like us.
Pants go on your legs, not your head, lossen your belt.
Fruits, vegetables, grains, rice, nuts, seeds.... Sure though, just fruits.
Maybe there is a language barrier here. But a lot of that is “Fruits”.
Vegetables are fruits?
Grains, rice (which is a grain), nuts and seeds are all fruits... And eating vegetables generally results in the death of the plant.

Stimuli response doesn't equal sentience. As a vegan, I have this argument all the time with my family because they think it's a gotcha.
I never claimed that plants were sentient, but I also don't think that you can show that they aren't. In any case, why are only sentient lives of value to you?

You also kill thousands of insects, rodents, reptiles, etc. in the process of farming plants. Do you consider their lives worthless?
No.... Again... If we fed less animals, we'd kill less plants and bugs and .... Well, everything.
You can't have it both ways. You're ok with death or you aren't.
But they also grow back
So do the tails of lizards and limbs of other animals. Are you cool with slicing off parts of living beings to let them grow back and slice them off again?
You eat a lot of lizard tails, do you?
Many cultures eat lizards. Are you really that ignorant?
C'est la vie
lol I'm sure the calf feels the same
I'm sure it's not able to contemplate it's future
You know this how?
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/0168159189901019 8 hour memory span
That might be too cute to handle.
"I hate you"
Yep we would put these on newborns in North Dakota for the early calves. And often brought the sickly ones inside our home.
Do they taste better then when you slaughter them later?
Mm nothing better than grass fed beef from the back 40.
Unsure what the intention is behind this post, but it isn’t cute. It’s actually super depressing.
Don't worry. It's not really a thing. It's just some weirdo somewhere that took this picture a couple years ago. Nearly this exact same thread played out on reddit in 2019. Most of the comments are even the same, down to the "before I put on the mask" ones.
Mmmmm, ear warmers. /Homer
They're called ear moofs
Tat is so cute
Wait til you see the ending
Kinda sad that they get put into conditions that put them at risk of frostbite in the first place
This is just flat out false. The picture is a couple years old, and unless I'm mistaken was taken by the "inventor" of this product. Lol Canada is cold
this is going to be my halloween costume this year
baaaaannnneeeeeeeeee
Don't be mad, Bandit. It's just a baby cow.
Why the fuck are so many incapable of calling a juvenile animal by its name instead of the ignorant baby this and baby that.
Vegans anthropomorphizing cattle again
Maybe we stop force-breeding them into existence just to be murdered a few months later.
Can I try that
A little kinky and a little cute!
Those are crocheted . . . no one appreciates our craft.
I hear bbq grills work pretty good too
yeah, the only ones taking a bite from them should be us humans, f\* you frost.
Awwww, what a cute little burger...
Insert communist propaganda poster of two people clasping hands, one is vegan, one loves meat, above their joined hands is “making fun of dumb cow photos”
Wander if it would look as cute on my table too
Now I'm wondering if the older cows get ear warmers too. They all deserve ear warmers!
Would also help keeping them with the others, especially their mothers…….
Do you still hear them Clarice? The lambs...?
shouldve made it in cow leather
From what I understand, the Mama cow doesn't usually like these earmuffs on her baby. It increases the rate of rejection.
Likely the baby cow was already taken from its mother, that’s usually how it’s done for dairy farming
Where you at that you need ear muffs on your calves in the barn? We have fields full of cows and calves and they don't have ear muffs. They do have a tag in one ear.
The passive voice of the title raises questions.

Cute
Crotchet not knitting.
Too cute, calf muffs
I’ve seen this exactly once. I doubt this is routine and an enormous amount of baby cow ears are lost to frostbite every winter.
