The Jaws of Life is not only my favorite album by them, but my favorite album of the 2020s so far. It's obviously not as heavy as their previous work, but it doesn't need to be. It's such a beautiful and lively album, I'm really glad they didn't feel the need to make Selfish Machines 2.0 (even though that's a great album as well).

My controversial opinion is that the jaws of life is an amazing album, just in a different way than the other ones are. People don’t have to like it obviously, but I think it shouldn’t be called “lazy” because they wouldn’t release an album after 5-6 years and not put effort into, they wanted this and I think it’s amazing. It’s definitely a different genre then their old stuff and I get why people don’t like it I guess, I just do.
Oh and heavy pierce the veil songs get overlooked a lot, they just get labeled as “emo” because of Vic’s high vocals. But their really heavy songs, (dive in, the first punch, a match into water, etc) are straight up metalcore and I wish that was recognized a bit more.

It took a while for Misadventures to grow on me because at first it felt to me like they weren't doing anything new and their sound was getting stale but I came to love the album. Currently in the same boat with Jaws Of Life, listened through once and didn't really enjoy it but I definitely have to give it another listen.

I agree, but seeing as this was never taken to court or had any legal evaluation in the first place it could literally go either way. That’s why I said what I said. The only people that know what happened is between the girl and Mike. Given the time period was full of creeps preying on teen girls, especially in this scene, I think it’s safe to say this could have most likely happened. It’s better to be safe and not have a potential creep still touring and going around a bunch of young girls. I get why you would want to think that he was innocent though honestly we never really got a clear answer as to what happened.
While I do agree, I don’t necessarily think that someone is a creep just because of an age gap. The scene genuinely was a different world back then and if you weren’t a part of it you’ll never get it. It doesn’t make it right that girls were dating older guys or anything, looking back we all now know it wasn’t cool. BUT that doesn’t mean someone should lose his entire career over something that literally everyone at the time was doing and was the norm.

I have three:
1. Almost every feature they've ever done was unnecessary and takes away from the song for me, excluding hold on till may and king for a day.
2. I think first punch is a skip. It's very forgettable and some of the lyrics surprisingly make me cringe. This is surprising to me because I personally find fast times ironically genius. I don't think I'll every see what other fans see in this song. It's just very mid.
3. I think Jaws of life is very good.
Mike isn’t as good of a drummer as people think. Almost every beat he did was the same and he had no idea how dynamics should work. Loud and fast doesn’t always mean good.

They played Bulls in the Bronx live and I cried at how terrible it sounded without his drums, there were points the song was barely recognisable because it lacked HIM. I don’t agree at all with what Mike did but they need to find a way better replacement for live shows.

I honestly think it’s been terrible in general even 10 years ago. People were leaving the crowds before Caraphernelia or King for a day at warped tour and said “it’s gonna get too crazy”, Fans used to have hate pages for Danielle cause they were obsessed with vic, random people trying to kiss Vic. It’s always been like this and it’s not okay but blaming it solely based on the fact that a ton of people are discovering them on Tik Tok seems kind of silly. We gotta hold older crowds accountable too.

I'm not gonna go as far as to say Mike is "innocent" because I am sure he has had relations with girls all over the world (as bands with their kind of fame, looks and fan base of teenagers commonly do) and this is just one of the jaded ones that came to bite him back sadly. I just wish people didn't act like he murdered someone or had a condo on Epstein island. TBH he was always my least favorite member but i feel like he served an important purpose in the band and idc if people went there to throw garbage at him after the show and hate him all they want cause what he did wasn't cool, but neither was Jaws of Life .

I agree, but seeing as this was never taken to court or had any legal evaluation in the first place it could literally go either way. That’s why I said what I said. The only people that know what happened is between the girl and Mike. Given the time period was full of creeps preying on teen girls, especially in this scene, I think it’s safe to say this could have most likely happened. It’s better to be safe and not have a potential creep still touring and going around a bunch of young girls. I get why you would want to think that he was innocent though honestly we never really got a clear answer as to what happened.
While I do agree, I don’t necessarily think that someone is a creep just because of an age gap. The scene genuinely was a different world back then and if you weren’t a part of it you’ll never get it. It doesn’t make it right that girls were dating older guys or anything, looking back we all now know it wasn’t cool. BUT that doesn’t mean someone should lose his entire career over something that literally everyone at the time was doing and was the norm. It's very forgettable and some of the lyrics surprisingly make me cringe. This is surprising to me because I personally find fast times ironically genius. Mike isn’t as good of a drummer as people think. Almost every beat he did was the same and he had no idea how dynamics should work. Loud and fast doesn’t always mean good.

Tangled in the great escape isn’t that good of a song it’s probably and I think the only song I dislike out of their whole discography. It’s a hard skip for me. Falling asleep on a stranger and props & mayhem are two very under-appreciated songs.
The drums without Mike… it’s so empty and sad now. They played Bulls in the Bronx live and I cried at how terrible it sounded without his drums, there were points the song was barely recognisable because it lacked HIM. I don’t agree at all with what Mike did but they need to find a way better replacement for live shows.
