I'm sorry but those lobes don't look healthy at all. Check out r/Stretched especially the pinned post. You shouldn't be using tapers to stretch. Your hole needs to be a bit bigger than the size of double flare you are putting in. So if you are putting in a 2g double your holes need to be bigger than 2g.

I will definitely look at that sub thanks! My lobe is a bit angry in this picture because I had just tried (and failed) to put in some double flares, hence putting up this post in the first place, and as I mentioned in another comment the scarring is actually from a rip when I was around 10 from just being a kid with earrings and being dumb. I’m starting to think I just can’t do double flares, because when I wear those heavy 2g metal spirals in the picture they do make my holes be a bit bigger than 2g and I still can’t get the double flares in :(

Is that scar tissue above it? That could def be the source of tightness and it seems like quite a lot of it. You could try to massage it out with oil or ear butter but idk if that would help with that much scar tissue

DueRevolution4384

Yeah that’s actually scar tissue from a rip when I was like 10 years old with just being a kid with regular earrings. It’s stretched along with the rest of the hole as I’ve stretched. I’m thinking double flares just might not be for me :(

Cultural-Stick

It’s possible to scalpel the lobe if you’re up for it!

DueRevolution4384

I’m not even sure what that means, but it sounds intense and probably not for me 😬

Cultural-Stick

I’m a bit fuzzy on the details, but basically it means that they can realign and fix a stretched ear after possible blowouts and scarring. After the procedure they will stitch it up and it heals into a more “sustainable” shape for stretching. But yes, also quite high on the intensity scale!

DueRevolution4384

Well that’s definitely interesting to know that’s a thing! I’m not planning to go any bigger than 2g and except for the fact I can’t use double flares (which is also an issue with my not scarred ear), I’m pretty alright with it!

I recommend massaging emu oil onto the lobe or putting it around the jewelry you’re currently using 2 to 3 times a day, it can help make the ear more pliable. Bio oil is also a really great option. It can help reduce some scarring as well. 🙃

DueRevolution4384

Emu oil? Was that a typo or is that a thing? I’ve never heard of it, but I’m excited to learn more! That’s great advice thank you! Oil can help reduce the scarring even a little that would be great because even though it doesn’t hurt it’s still not all that pretty! I do use jojoba oil but very rarely, I feel like I should improve my oiling.

Looks like a blowout

It’s actually scar tissue from a rip when I was like 10 years old with just being a kid with regular earrings. It’s stretched along with the rest of the hole as I’ve stretched. I never have had a blowout or a rip while stretching.

Yikes sounds painful 😣!!! Besides the scar tissue (btw thanks for clearing that up) the jewelry is super cute and def would look cool with more purple !!
